Da Poke Man - Review - Mission Bay - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Da Poke Man is a Bay Area food truck, and during baseball season, you can get their excellent ahi poke from their corner stall in Oracle Park. The fish consistently tastes fresh, and the slivers of onion give some bite. The menu is simple: just pick spicy or regular, and whether you want your fish with rice, greens, or tortilla chips. The rice can get pretty hard after a lap around the concourse, so unless you plan on eating your order right away, go with the greens." - Julia Chen

What was life like before Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter??? A few years ago, I was down in LA trying to look for Roy Choi's Kogi 🌮 truck. The truck was moving around throughout the day. Where the heck is this truck at? People would say, " Follow the 🛻on the 'gram" ( I didn't have Instagram at that time). After some more investigation, I finally found the truck! These days, people let you know days in advance where they are going to be at. I didn't have to look hard for Da Poke-Man truck! Loved the traditional poke and loved it with the spicy sauce on top even more! "Broke da mouth"

Google
I was SO thrilled to find this place. I have to stay on a strict diet for my health (very low carb), so when I was going to a Giants' game, I researched the food options in advance and came up on this place. I got the spicy poke bowl on greens. SO delicious. It was wonderful. Also, no wait in line!

Google
Poke was actually pretty good. HIGHLY recommend. I follow Da Poke man on IG, so I had to try it out when I was here.

Google
Always the best poke around! Whether it's from his food truck, Oracle park or catering. Fresh, tasty and the perfect texture to the last piece.

All rice and no toppings at all. Worthless for 20 bucks.

Fresh and bright food that works great at the ballpark.

Yelp
Tried the one inside The Oracle, recommended by a nice lady sitting in front of us (who said she looks forward to it every game and fish is fresh every day). Oooooh definitely a must! The ladies at the booth were nice. Service was fast and the food was delicious! Definitely fresh and simple but tasty! I wish there was a bit more greens that went with the generous amount of fish.

Yelp
Super delicious and authentic Poke!! The rice was cooked perfectly, a generous scoop of Ahi tuna ( usually it's pricier everywhere else for the quantity you get- I get sushi all the time so I'm pretty familiar with fish market prices/quantity) and garnished just right! $16 could've got me a burger and fries...but here it went a lot further, instead of traveling 2,395 miles to Oahu and over $600 in airfare for authentic Poke, I got it conveniently here where I currently reside by a well rounded chef who knows what he's doing!!! Can't thank you enough Poke Man, I'll definitely come back and refer all my friends!

Yelp
Total ripoff! $16 for a scoop of rice and scoop of poke with some greens on the bottom

tuna poke bowl was absolutely delicious fresh and perfectly seasoned. Food truck was inviting and clean, also The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that my order was spot on. I can't wait to return Highly recommend this place to any poke lovers!

Yelp
I'm a SF Giants season ticket holder and attend a ton of games each year since they open Oracle/AT&T/Pac Bell Park. We patronize Da Poke Man stand located in the corner just under the evaluator to the Club level. Usually, it's a fun positive experience but in the last week of the 2023 season vs Dodgers I encountered the "mean cafeteria lunch lady" from elementary school. Being a season ticket member we get 20% of all souvenirs and concessions at the ballpark with an easy scan of a bar code. The order taker / cashier was that rude nightmarish lunch lady minus just the hairnet. She was mean rude and obviously hates being there. She was all hot and bothered when I was to scan my bar code for the discount. It's too bad because the food is still good. Hopefully, next season they can hire more hospitable staff.

Yelp
Super fresh Poke and flavors very similar to ones I've eaten in Hawaii. Usually I'm pretty skeptical of Poke or Sushi or raw fish coming out of a food truck but in this case I was very pleasantly surprised. Judging from the photos it is at baseball games frequently too. I would be SOOO impressed if I got this at a baseball game! I would definitely get this again (and maybe try their nacho base as well)

Yelp
Went to an event and they were selling their original and spicy ahi poke but only over greens or tortilla chips. The poke itself was fresh and satisfying and probably close to Hawaiian style poke I've had on the mainland... it was lacking a bit in umami but it still hit the spot. I sure wish there was rice though and not paired with chips or greens -- I think that would've made a world of difference.

Yelp
First time trying this place back in 2019 when I first heard of a poke offering at the ballpark. Fast forward, this place continues to be my go-to eats at Oracle Park. The poke is fresh and simply dressed (NOT overly sauced, nor salty)...how authentic poke should be. Outside of the ballpark, I'm a frequent customer when this truck is at an Off the Grid site or when I stumble upon a flash sale on Da Poke-Man's IG page. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Seafood holds a near and dear place in my heart, so I'm glad I got to try this spot out. I always see the truck is in serramonte mall every Tuesday, but never got around to try it. I tried ordering online, and it was kind of confusing because it was charging for a different spot, so I axe'd that idea just in case. I decided to walk up and order the traditional ahi poke with limu. The poke was incredible! It was so fresh with the right amount of seasoning on the tuna. I thoroughly enjoyed it with my rice and salad. I knocked off a point for value. I get it, fish is expensive, however, I've been to poke spots that give you a combination of items for the same price. The great thing about this place though is that they marinate their tuna or salmon, which adds to the flavor! It's definitely a spot to check out for quality poke!

What a lovely surprise at Oracle Park! It's a fresh option and tasty addition to the stadium selection.

Yelp
@offthegridsf by SFO yesterday, we once again had an opportunity to check out what was there and we came across this food truck. The truck looked so neat and clean and highly eye catching because of the design and most specially when you see the photos of their menu and Hawaiian drink varieties. We ordered Ahi tuna and the Salmon and they looked so good. The prices were affordable and reasonable too. Once we got to seat down to enjoy our meals it was very tasty and delicious. Will definitely try them again next time for sure!

Yelp
I miss Hawaii. I especially miss Hawaii from not going this past year because of Covid. Finally tried the Poke Man since they had their truck at my work, and it did not disappoint. I like my poke to be simple with sauce, rice, and a salad. Not the recent boom of the poke places with all the extra toppings. Because guess what? That's how islanders eat it. Super fresh fish, love the kick in the sauces, and good portions provided by friendly staff. As a fellow islander, I love supporting small business that bring back a taste of home, and this truck is a must if you ever see it.

Yelp
My mom's order from me before going to OTD was she wanted to try this truck. I personally do not eat raw fish, but I have a lot of family that loves poke. The food truck for the Serramonte OTD was awesome, there was no line, but they had lots of orders. The lady that took my order was very friendly, and my order was ready within 5 minutes. I got my mom the traditional Ahi Tuna poke, and when I got home I had the intentions of taking a beautiful picture of it, but then my mom ate it before I could. She really liked it and said everything was very fresh, and it was delicious. If it's mom approved then it must be grade A! Now I know why this place is very popular- for their quality and freshness and overall friendly customer service. Mahalo!

Yelp
Da best poke in town! I was iffy at first since I'm a picky eater. Then finally I tried it. I'm hooked ever since.... I first tried it at the ballpark. Pairs well with a cold IPA.

Yelp
This is the only food truck i chase. Da Poke Man serves quality. I seriously got my friends onto this and you dont need much persauding bc once they try the flavor and complexity of seasonings with fresh raw seafood, theyre absolutely sold. I recommend everything on the menu. The simplicity of soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, fresh seaweed and salt is what keeps me coming back. This is seriously a poke lover / eaters paradise truck. As close to authenticity and hawaii as you can get I've always been a fan of their shrimp option, but its always sold out I always get the spicy ahi tuna and non spicy option. They've recently added albacore tuna, i like it but my one and only time it had alot of bones.... a bit risque for me since i eat fast. Theres also a salmon option, i personally dont love salmon but i gave it a try bc its Da Poke Man and the flavor is all there, i just personally dont love salmon. I love how hes also health conscious (besides the fact that this truck serves pure protein and fatty omega 3s) he also has a mixed greens option to accompany your fish vs rice

Yelp
Thank you for coming to SSF! A few folks from work today ordered thru the site to pick up for lunch today. We ALL ordered the Spicy Poke! It was Da Bomb! Can't wait to have it again. The portion was perfect! And the spice was great, slight kick, where I can still taste the wonderful tuna! Great job! Absolutely the little bus you use. Classic! The only issue I had was when trying to pay with a CC, there were some issues for some reason, but switched to Google Pay and it worked in a snap! Go TRY this POKE!!

Yelp
I am a fan. I was hesitant as I always am with mainland poke but its the next best thing to the islands here in the bay area. My only complaint is the line is so long! I waited for almost an hour for it.

Yelp
BEST POKE ON THE WEST COAST. Poke Man has an awesome variety with healthy portions, but I still always get the same thing: two scoop fire & ice (you should do this too). It's a family run shop and everyone is genuinely nice and inviting. Follow his instagram for updates on locations.

Yelp
There's a ton of poke bowl spots around town but very few serve a good traditional poke with traditional ingredients. Da Poke-man has it nailed. Fresh Ahi tuna and limu make it perfect combined with just the right dressings. Definitely broke da mouth. Look for him at Off the Grid or at the ball park. Thanks Ray!
google avatar

Yelp
Yum! All the reviews about the quality of fish here are true. Freshness, portion, rice, furikake, and spicy mayo- 5 stars easily. I'd say the price considering gets 5 stars as well. I knocked a star only because the menu was very, very limited when I visited. Only 2 items available on their entire menu- tuna or spicy tuna. I still encourage poke lovers to give them try. I will definitely be back to order some other thangs (fingers crossed)! Hope my second visit ups my review to 5 shiny ol' stars.

Yelp
Delicious & fresh poké from Da Poké-Man. I'm glad I gave this food truck another try since my first experience wasn't so great but now I'm totally satisfied. This is exactly what I was expecting. Got to try the wasabi poké & it was really yummy. Also got the traditional and that was fire too. Portions are well worth it. Can't wait for the truck to come back to SFSU or Off the Grid in Serramonte!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite poke in the Bay Area. When the poke is this awesome, you don't need other toppings. Their poke definitely reminds me of what I had in Hawaii. Delicious!! Some may feel cautious about buying raw fish out of a food truck. I had their poke multiple times throughout my pregnancy when the truck was in South San Francisco. No sick stomach. No food poisoning. Just one happy belly! :-) It's tasty. It's delicious. It's one of the best poke you can get! So next time if you see the truck pulling into your office's parking lot, definitely give it a try! :D

Alfie K.

Yelp
Always the best bet around! Be it from his food truck, Oracle Park or catering. Fresh, tasty and perfect texture till the last bite.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Once you try and eat this POKE, you just can't ever have enough. I like the benefit of the various areas they travel to. The advantage of the truck being close to your neighborhood or city to get some are the perks of being mobile. Thank you Ray for sharing your delicious makings of poke.
google avatar

Natasha K.

Yelp
Tuna was fresh but the poke "bowl" consisted of three ingredients- distressed salad leaves, a lot of raw onion, sliced jalapeños not fresh even and that's it. Waste of $14...
google avatar

Krista B.

Yelp
If you see this truck, you have to stop and get some! Real deal poke folks, fresh, and so ono!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking to have the best Poke then this is the place for it. Chef Ray creates an assortment of traditional style Poke which is amazing every time. I normally get 2 orders just for myself and an order for my girl and I don't mine spending $30 for it either. Quality fish cost money so don't be afraid of the price tag when you see $10 for an order, you won't be disappointed trust me.
google avatar

Yelp
Love love love love love their poke! Don't know if it because I'm extra hungry or is it that their poke is really THAT good. For the price you pay, you will get your poke and sauce, your rice and your greens in a clear plastic tray, and that's it. So simple but always good. My go-to is spicy ahi poke, which is their most popular one as well. The ahi is cold, or cool, but def not icy. It's soft and for some part a bit chewy. No other weird taste but just what you would expect from some fresh ahi. The spicy Mayo is just the right level of spiciness. The greens are fresh and crispy. What's cool is the rice, I always do a scope of white rice. It's warm but not hot, a bit sticky and has some tiny surprises due to the sesames on top. I don't usually finish my rice but with their spicy ahi and greens I can gobble down everything without pause. So why it's so simple but so good? I think (personally) is because of their extra attention to details. Like the amount or spiciness of the Mayo, the temperature of their ahi and rice, the combination of their greens, etc. The only complain is the amount. I can finish one without pause. So if you can finish a Mac Flurry (I can't) you probably want to consider adding some extra rice or poke.

Yelp
Freshest poke in town. Can't wait to try them again. Everything is tasty. Perfect portions. Service with a smile always.

Yelp
It brought back my aloha spirit! Since I have moved from Oahu to Walnut Creek I have been unable to find a true authentic poke bowl spot, almost everywhere in California is obsessed with poke salads. Poke salads are good it's just not Hawaiian Poke. These guys are from Hawaii and this is truly not only the best poke I have had in California but the best I have had on the mainland. Don't be deterred by poke from a food truck these guys cook up some delicious eats! Eating poke from Da Poke-Man really made me feel like I was back with my Ohana. The other thing I appreciated was how fast the service was, there was no waiting. These guys really have that Hawaiian spirit - friendly! Next time your at a food truck meet up and see this kitchen make sure to get Da Best Poke In The Bay! These guys are truly Poke specialists! If you like them as much as I do they also cater. I will remember them for my next event! I recommend this spot!!

Yelp
This is "da" one!! Ever since coming back from Hawaii, I don't trust going to these weak poke bowl places. So when I heard this truck makes poke comparable to Hawaii I had to try it! I follow their insta and luckily I was nearby. The lady (unfortunately I forgot to ask for her name) was real welcoming and funny since I told her it was my first time. I got the spicy ahi poke and man...let's just say I'm only going to eat poke from this spot. Really generous serving too!! Quality over quantity aka don't go to poke bowl spots and go here
google avatar

Doug S.

Yelp
I'm going to just flat out say it. This is the most authentic Poke I have found off the islands. Seriously. There are some spots that are very very good (usually Hawaiian owned...it makes a difference) but most spots are the usual Californication of Poke that seems all the rage these days but lacks soul. Don't get me wrong...there are some rice bowl production line spots that are good and I visit them on occasion (most are just so-so or not worth the time however). But there are just a handful of spots in the Bay Area where you feel the Ohana when you bite. And fewer still that make you think you're back on the islands. I found this operation when they did a Poke Fest food truck thing last year. One bite and I was in heaven. My girlfriend said to me, "You look like you're having a Poke Orgasm". Yeah...a pokegasm. That pretty much sums up what I was feeling. I'd only felt that at the best hole in the wall spots on the islands like Alicia's Market in Honolulu. It's just damn frustrating that I live 50 miles south of San Francisco. p.s. I don't care how much it costs. It's worth it. Discerning pokephiles know the difference.
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
My #1 poke spot and I use to work for a poke bar. It's the best I've had outside of Hawaii. Totally legit and 100% authentic. Always fresh. None of that previously frozen poke like everywhere else. I refuse to eat poke anywhere else. Follow Da Poke Man's Instagram to find where he'll be or any specials. My boyfriend and I have been getting his poke for holiday potlucks for the last couple of years.
google avatar

Nelly C.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and the portions were TINY. How is this a meal? I should've turned around when I saw other people in front of me getting their food. I ordered the macadamia nut shrimp poke. Flavor was just ok, and for $12 + 50 cents for brown rice, it was a disappointing portion size. Four of us came as a group and two of them had to go buy another meal at another truck after they finished eating. I also had to find more snacks afterwards. They all agreed it was too small and flavor was just okay. I know other poke trucks serve poke with sides like seaweed salad or crab salad, but this truck only had the poke and rice. I'm ok with that but then it has to be more poke and more rice! I gave it a shot and $12.50, but probably would not try again unless I see them fix their portion size.
google avatar

Tonsorem D.

Yelp
My favorite poke in the Bay Area. It's probably the closest you can get to poke from Hawaii. I always try to catch them when they're in the area. You should too
google avatar

Melanie Thu D.

Yelp
The Quality of Poke is A. But the portion is a little small for $10, if you just want a snack or light lunch, then that is it. But if you want to be full, you probably should get 2 orders. All in all, love love the freshness and the flavor of the Poke here. They are by Walmart headquarter in San Bruno on Tuesdays for lunch time.
google avatar

Crystal T.

Yelp
This is absolutely the BEST poke in the Bay! If you haven't tried this, you're missing out. The spicy sauce is amazing. He focuses on quality and you can taste it in every bite. Ray is awesome!
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
This food is awesome and the best. At first, I didn't like raw seafood. I was iffy at first, but after I tried it, low and behold I was hooked. I'm now enjoying sushi and sashimi. My fear of eating raw seafood is no longer. Thank you Da Poke-Man!!!! P.S. I'm obsessed with the Poke' with tortilla chips...
google avatar

Carlin F.

Yelp
Spot on poke. The seasoning and marinades are perfect, the fish quality is good. Just rice and poke, no other traditional Hawaiian sides, but if that's all you're looking for, you can't go wrong here.
google avatar

Sabrina V.

Yelp
The poke was excellent, just how it is back in Hawaii cut in chunks and appropriately seasoned. I loved that they accepted Venmo, much easier than pulling out cash or cards, convenient. I understand that it is a good truck, but the portion for the price was a bit small and running out of rice an hour in should be accounted for. Things that can be easily adjusted. But overall good poke.
google avatar

D Y.

Yelp
It's been a week since I got to try this poke and am still dreaming about. It's the best poke I've had outside of Hawaii. I generally don't eat poke at most of the new poke places that have been popping up because I am almost always disappointed. I am a traditionalist and this poke is EXACTLY how I like it. And as if it couldn't have been any better, their serving of poke was super generous. My only regret is that I didn't get to eat it multiple times each day. It was that good. Trying to come up with an excuse to make another trip up North just so I can have this again.
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
This poke is outrageously good!! If you haven't tried it yet what are you waiting for!! They take their Poke seriously and it's always consistent and the freshest poke! Devoted people here to bringing some Hawaii taste to Cali!!!!
google avatar

Jon N.

Yelp
We were blessed to have the Poke man deliver three trays of the finest poke I've ever enjoyed! Service with style, Love it!
google avatar

Geraldine G.

Yelp
$15 for literally fish and rice and it doesn't even come with additional toppings like seaweed. Maybe the quality of the fish is better than your average poke place, but I simply just don't get it.
google avatar

Charles S.

Yelp
I love this guy and his food. I look forward to every chance I have to visit his truck and I follow him on social media. We had a bit of a misunderstanding because it seemed like he had blocked me on Instagram for no real reason, but when I aired my grievances he set things right and was very friendly and professional about it. Best poke I've had outside of Hawaii, hands down.
google avatar

Anthony S.

Yelp
Hands down the best, most authentic and fresh poke I have ever tasted in my life. Seriously I have found myself ordering for two people (even though it's just me eating it) just so I don't seem like a slob. When this becomes a worldwide poke place I'll be glad to say I tried it in the beginning. If you haven't had some poke in awhile or at all then make sure you don't go to any other place other than Da Poke-Man. You Da Best!
google avatar

Magdalena N.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of trying out the Traditional Ahi Poke with Limu, spicy Ahi Poke and Tako Poke all three were bomb.com. If you in the city go grab yourself a bowl and thank me later.
