Da-Wan

"Da-Wan moved to the shopping streets of Dazhi in late 2021. The dining room adopts a hip, faux-industrial style, with dramatic lighting while at night, the full-height windows let in the electric glow of the department stores nearby. As always, the signature remains Wagyu beef, mostly from Miyazaki prefecture – oyster blade, chuck eye roll, flat iron… grilled to perfection by skilful servers. Thick-cut ox tongue is divinely springy and beefy." - Michelin Inspector

Taipei’s Late-Night Supper Spots

"One-Michelin-starred yakiniku restaurant Da Wan is a popular supper spot in Taipei. It opens till midnight on weekdays and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. Many diners are attracted by its use of first-grade beef, including Japanese wagyu. Each server is assigned to one customer at the bar counter, making it easier for solo diners. A meal costs NT$3,000 (S$132) on average." - MICHELIN Guide Taipei Editorial Team

The marbling of the steak speaks for itself. Absolutely value for money given the top grade quality beef. Gyutan, yakiniku with egg, and thick steak was the highlight of the meal. Scallop was sooooo fresh. We got the set menu, and given the dining limit of 90minutes, we felt slightly rushed towards the end. Staff were really friendly and made the entire dining experience very enjoyable and fun.

Great quality meat, excellent service, they do all the cooking, one of the best Japanese BBQ experience ever. The price is also very reasonable for what you get. We went with a la cart, here are the dishes we ordered in the pics.

Everything is awesome in this place. The food is excellent, the choice of meat cut is awesome, the cooking is done to perfection for every type of cut and the cooks are skilled and friendly. Some would argue that the price is a bit high but you pay the quality of the food and service. If you like yakiniku, book a table there and enjoy!

The food was amazing. We let the chef choose the beef for us and it did not disappoint at all. The tongue was crazy good. The chef also gave us a special treat on him. And don’t get me started on the customer service. The chef was extremely nice and the food was fast and quick. Would come here every time I go to Taipei

I recently celebrated my birthday at this restaurant and had an amazing experience. The staff was very accommodating and rearranged our seats so we could enjoy a better view. The service was fantastic, even though the restaurant was busy. The staff made sure everyone was taken care of, which really impressed me. The selection and quality of the meats were excellent. Each cut was delicious and perfectly cooked. This place is great for both a date night and business meetings. The atmosphere is welcoming and classy, making it perfect for any occasion. I highly recommend this restaurant for a top-notch dining experience.

Google
The best yakiniku joint in taipei if you’re looking for premium cuts of beef. Great atmosphere and friendly chefs who explain the ins and outs of the beef without the snobbery that you get in other ‘high end’ dining establishments. Bring your wallet, because you’re going to want to buy everything they recommend to you for this experience.

The worst dinning experience in Taiwan. Together with my two friends, I asked the staff for their recommendations to which a young male waiter just gave us a brief introduction and order without considering our budget. Eventually, we paid around USD480 in total. Although the food wasn’t bad, the poor service and noisy environment made us feel not worth it.

The meat here is really 10/10. As with most yakiniku omakase restaurants, you get to try a wide range of exquisite cuts during your meal. Our chef was really skilled in seasoning and grilling our meat and I liked how he spaced out the vegetables after every few cuts of meat to ensure that you don’t get too surfeited from eating the meat continuously. The side dishes (pickled radish, kimchi, cucumbers) were so tasty on their own and helped to refresh and cleanse your palate after each portion.
