The 20 Best Affordable Restaurants in the Inland Empire | Eater LA

"One of LA’s longest-enduring food trucks that still operates throughout Southern California, the family behind Daddyji opened a permanent restaurant in beautiful Claremont about eight months ago with a sleek dining room right in the town’s downtown area. The lunch thali plates, which come with rice, choice of roti or naan, and an entree (the goat curry was the main recommendation), only cost $12 to $14, making Daddyji a screaming daytime deal. The rest of the menu features plenty of Northern Indian dishes prepared at a high level. Just be prepared to wait when it gets busy." - Sean Vukan

Taste :4.1/5 Environment: 4.2/5 Service:3.9/5 Tried Daddyji in Claremont for lunch and while the food was decent, the overall experience could use a little refinement. They offer a lunch menu, which is great if you’re looking for Indian cuisine in the area. However, it took about 20–30 minutes for the food to come out — which felt long for a lunch setting. What made the wait a bit more uncomfortable was the service. The wait staff checked in constantly — about every 3 to 5 minutes — asking how the food was, even before we had a chance to start eating. While attentive service is appreciated, this felt more like hovering and got a little distracting. I also tried the pineapple lemonade, and unfortunately, it was way too sweet, almost syrupy. Would love to see a more balanced version in the future.

My first time eating Indian food that isn’t store bought. Been eying this place for a while and finally had a chance to give it a try. The place is in downtown Claremont, I parked on the street and walked across to pick up my food. The staff seemed nice and I had no trouble calling to order to go. I was able to try the classic Tikka Masala and the Tandori Chicken that everyone on Yelp was talking about. Have got to say that Tandori Chicken packed a punch. Not used to the coat but it was quite tasty. Spicy but not too crazy. The Tikka Masala was great, and the chicken was so tender. The only thing I wasn’t used to was the Nhan, which was harder. Again don’t quote me on it as I am not sure how this type of cuisine is supposed to be! I just know I enjoyed it ! Looking forward to trying some of their other dishes, and because of this experience, going to want to try some other Indian restaurants as well. Until next time!

Food is fire and good prices and very pretty interior and really nice bathroom and good portion sizes and gave free dessert. Only complaint is that wait was long but it was lunch hour but otherwise so good and free dessert :D yay daddy ji!! 😽😽 the interior has a nice atmosphere w comfortable chairs except one chair on the right side wobbled a bit but no big deal bc the food was SO GOOD and the portions and price ALL GOOD but expect to wait a bit if u come for lunch

A Hidden Gem in Claremont I’m so glad I stumbled upon this place while walking around Claremont. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome. The restaurant was clean, and the interior was tastefully decorated with elegant blue chairs and beautiful hand-painted art on the walls. The Punjabi music playing in the background added a comforting, homely touch that made the experience even more authentic. I came hungry and left with a full belly and generous leftovers. Here’s what I ordered: Appetizers: Pani Puri & Samosas The pani puri was a standout—flavorful, perfectly balanced, and presented with a level of elegance you’d expect from a high-end spot. It’s rare to see this kind of quality and plating at such a reasonable price point. The samosas were solid, more traditional in size and flavor, nothing too out of the ordinary, but still enjoyable. Main Course: Lamb Biryani & Paneer Kulcha When the biryani came out, I was already excited just by looking at it. The vibrant colors were visually striking, and it looked so appetizing that even the table next to me asked what I had ordered! Taste-wise, it was light yet flavorful—not soaked in oil like you often find at lower-tier places. I requested an 8/10 spice level, but it felt closer to a 5—next time, I’ll definitely go for the full 10. To accompany it, I had the paneer kulcha, which arrived hot, fresh, and perfectly balanced—not overly salty or greasy. Next time, I’ll ask for some butter on the side and a bit of achar (pickled veggies) to complete the experience. I was so full I couldn’t finish the biryani or kulcha—and even had a samosa left over. Of course, I asked for everything to go. At that point, all that was missing to complete the full desi experience was a sweet ending with chai. Dessert: Gulab Jamun & Chai The gulab jamun was served hot and fresh—soft and sweet, just the way it should be. The chai came with sugar on the side so you can sweeten it to taste, which I appreciated. I do think it could have used a bit more spice—perhaps a touch of star anise to really make it stand out—but for the price, it still delivered. The Verdict: • Pani Puri: 10/10 • Samosas: 6.8/10 • Lamb Biryani: 10/10 • Paneer Kulcha: 9/10 • Chai: 7/10 • Gulab Jamun: 8.5/10 Total: $44 For this price? You really can’t beat it. The quality, presentation, and service are beyond what you’d expect at this price point. I’ll definitely be coming back regularly!

Came here last Saturday 5.3.25 it was a rainy early evening. We waited outside (didn't have reservations) it was cold but we weren't alone there were others who also didn't have reservations. This place is popping with take-out, so don't let the people waiting outside deter you from approaching. We ordered LOTS of food to try and by far our favorite was the Samosa Chat... OMG!! so delicious. Our table of 3 shared 1 as an appetizer. My jasmine iced tea was refreshing as well. So our first order of the Garlic Naan was sorta burnt, they replaced it once we said something. The Tikka Masala Chicken was divine, my fish lahori was ok but I'm used to the breading being a bit lighter the tamarind sauce get's me EVERY DAYUM TIME!! so good! Parking is a challenge here as the adjacent parking lot actually belongs to the business next door; you're pretty much parking at your own risk since all the signs warn you that you would be towed. On the weekends I think most people guess it's ok since the business' aren't open. Service is BUSY AF but they do try and give you ample attention. Respectfully Reviewed.

Google
The daddyji food-truck debut as a restaurant is great. The service is very kind, patient, attentive and quick for a dine in Indian cuisine. The food is a solid 4 out of 5. Now many would complain about authenticity of some dishes but authenticity aside the taste was great in most of the dishes I had. The curries were fragrant, and well cooked. The noodles could use some attention. The charge for extra sambar for dosa was a bit awkward. But there were no dishes with excess salt as is the case with many other Indian restaurants and still being able to get my taste buds distinct taste responses. Overall a very good place to visit again. Refer images for what I ordered.

Google
Food was good and service was as well. The biryani was definitely not authentic style more just some cooked rice with spices added. The curries were good, although a little light on the Indian flavors for us, but still tasty. Also, the chicken is all dark meat, $3 up charge for white meat. Naan is skippable. Try the samosa dosa, everyone in our group enjoyed.

This place is so good! It smells amazing from the moment you walk in. Everyone that works here is super nice. The decor is very cute, from the velour couches to the little succulent in a tiny toilet pot in the bathroom. We had the vegetable samosas, chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, and garlic naan. The veggie samosas were nice and crunchy. The chicken tikka masala was good and the garlic naan was both soft and nicely browned. I loved the chicken vindaloo since it had a very fresh chili tasting spice and plenty of potatoes (my favorite). Would love to come back next time we're in the area!

Yelp
The servers were all so nice and welcoming. We're Muslims and this one woman was very kind to us even complimented our attires and tried to get to know us. The food was amazing, I would eat here again but I'll make sure to get the plain dosa, we got the masala dosa and weren't prepared for the kick. It was spicy so the water made us full fast but otherwise very tasty. The place was clean and fancy. Overall, very nice :)

Big portions, chill ambiance, great price, and good customer service all around. Kash was awesome!

Yelp
Guri and Leo are very kind servers and expedient with their service. Guri politely answered my questions on recommendations and Leo was a funny sociable person. The atmosphere is nice with good lighting. Not the best for intimacy but fantastic for anything else. Walked in on a Friday night and immediately got seats. I ordered the traditional chicken entree with low spice, garlic naan, the rice with shrimp, and tiki chat appetizer (sorry for misspelling), and guava soda. Rarely has a food tasted soo good and hit the spot for me. It was thoroughly tasty and satisfying. Shrimp and chicken was great. Guava soda was good too and not too sweet. They were kind enough to let us finish eating an hour after they closed and they never made us feel like we're intruding in their closing. We honestly lost track of time because we were having a good time eating the food and chatting. Wonderful place, food and employees.

Yelp
Found this spot driving by and so glad we stopped. The inside is clean and bright and nicely decorated. The music sets the ambiance. Kash was our waitress and she was so helpful and friendly. She recommended the spice level as medium and it was just the right amount of spice. The goat curry lunch special highlighted some of their best sides and was cooked perfectly! The naan roll was enough to share if you wanted to. The complimentary dessert is really tasty and reminded me of a Mexican type dessert. The menu has so many options too to choose from, so I feel like there is something for everyone. The prices of all items are also really reasonable.

Yelp
We were really excited to find a local, go-to Indian food spot. Service was friendly and the vibe inside was cool, but sadly the food was a miss for us. One exception were the Samosas which turned out to be the best part of the meal. They had a wonderful flavor and crunch, and the chutneys were delicious as well. Our hopes were high for the rest of the meal. My 7 y/o daughter got the Peaches & Cream Lassi and unfortunately it gave her a stomach ache. It was really creamy and sweet, and I thought she was just sensitive to the heavy cream. As it turned out, all the entrees we ordered were heavy handed on the cream and somehow bland, which is a challenge with Indian food. We ordered some signature dishes: Palak Paneer, Veggie Korma, and Butter Chicken. The Palak Paneer, in addition to being heavy on cream, was so over-blended it had no texture at all. The Korma was very heavy on the cream and extremely sparse on the veggies. We had a bowl of mostly cream sauce. The Butter Chicken was the most heavy on cream, but despite being a saucy dish, the chicken was oddly tough and dry. All in all, I hope they make some adjustments because I'd love to give them another try. But if they can't nail such classic dishes, we'll have to continue going to Pasadena for good Indian fare.

Yelp
Came in for lunch pretty early and it was empty at first but post noon, the place got filled quickly. Its very clean and modern design. The food is great, portions are large. The samosas are so good we got the mango lassi and possibly the best I've had in a while. Thick and sweet, genuine tasting. We got medium spice but could've gotten it hotter. Will definitely go back to try some other dishes.

Yelp
This super popular Indian has some outrageously delicious dishes but also some just OK ones. The Achari Chicken Tikka had super-moist chicken served sizzling. The star of the show was the Masala Dosa / Masala Uttapam (with sambar)....one of the best I've ever had: Amazing, large, and irresistible and equal/better than the one I had at Udupi Palace in SF. The letdowns were the very dark paneer where the spinach didn't have much taste and the Masala Paneer Dosa which was too dry and uninteresting. You can vary the spice level and the food matched our request (mild). Service was mixed and one can tell that they're a bit understaffed at peak (and this place is always super popular so they're always at peak): Best to get a pitcher or two of water so you don't have to keep asking for refills. Casual with an interesting variety of decorations from eclectic notions. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Wow... if I had met Daddy Ji I'd hug him right now. Food here was A+. Music choice was excellent and the place was popping with Punjabi hits. The team here was so attentive and friendly they worked so fast to serve us and make us feel very welcomed. Pretty busy place but still service was awesome and food super delicious. Spice level we're on point!!! Bravo Daddy Ji!!

Yelp
Just walking by you can smell that this place is going to have some flavorful food. We ordered the tandori chicken, the tikka masala, vegetable samosas, and plain naan. Had a mango lassi for a drink. We ordered the tikka masala medium spicy and I think it was a bit more on the mild side but still full of flavor. This dish comes with a choice of proteins although we chose chicken. The chicken is breast meat. The chicken tikka was also flavorful and had a rich vibrant color. This dish was made up of legs and thighs. The samosa was perfectly cooked and what really stood out was their sauces. So good If you haven't tried them yet. It's worth trying. They've only been open six months are are doing well. The staff is so sweet and kind. Seems like a family run operation which I happen to love.

Yelp
Daddy Ji is a new hidden Indian fushion spot of flavor located in the Claremont area! This was my first time trying Indian cuisine, and it was a somewhat decent experience. Upon entering the restaurant, there was a 10 minute wait time, which was acceptable, but what made me a bit frustrated was having to wait around 20-30 minutes for our food. Service was very friendly and compliant, but it was difficult to grab their attention regarding checking up on the food. Food wise, the chicken biryani was very plentiful and sharable between my party of 5, and it was super delicious, juicy and flavorful! The charring of the vegetables added a nice subtle texture to the dish, and complimented it well. The garlic naan was very fresh and delicious! The chicken tikka-masala had a very thick consistency, which covered all portions of the rice! Rice-wise, the rice was pretty lukewarm, which was a big upsetting due to the long wait. However, overall with the food and my inital expectations, I would say that this place is a great location for Indian cuisine! Improvements would definitely be decreasing the wait time for the food.

Yelp
First rate Indian in Claremont! Not sure what has happened to all the good Indian restaurants in So Cal but this is by far one of the best. So good in fact that my wife and I will drive from Pasadena for an epic Indian dinner in Claremont.

Yelp
Amazing! Service, atmosphere, and the taste and quality food was outstanding. It hit the spot. This place exceeded my expectations. This is my boyfriend and is new favorite spot. Kash our waitress was so sweet and so helpful

Maricelle D.

Yelp
This is the second time my mom and I have eaten here and both times have been amazing! First the atmosphere is light and airy. For such a small space it's still very spacious... even with a full restaurant. The service is very kind and willing to answer questions and explain about different dishes. Kash was the best but all the other waiters/waitresses were equally amazing. Everyone constantly checking in with us throughout the meal. Now the food.... I'm no expert in Indian cuisine but I have to say this is the best I have ever had. Each dish was different and bursting with flavors. My mom can't do spicy and they were able to taper down the spice level for her so she can enjoy it too. The pani puri was my favorite and next time I'm getting my own! Anyway, we will deformity be back and probably with a host of other people!

Yelp
Wonderful service and delicious Indian food! I don't eat Indian food often, but when I do, I always crave garlic naan, coconut curry, and saffron rice. The service here is excellent--I was waiting 15 minutes for my friend to arrive, and three staff members checked up on me, asked if I wanted any beverages besides water, and so on. I ordered coconut curry with mixed veggies, and my friend and I also had garlic naan and rice. The rice wasn't saffron rice, but it was tasty nonetheless! I've had better quality Indian food elsewhere, which is why I gave it 4 stars to be truthful. But seriously, this place is good, so give it a try if you're in the area!

Yelp
I haven't had biryani this good in the area and I'm so glad Daddi Ji actually has good biryani. I have tried other items on the menu and everything is soo soo good. The portions are really large and service and is really good. It can be a bit noisy during lunchtime but the place is packed!

Yelp
A friend and I have been wanting to try this new business out. He knows the food and he knows what best to order. We met there at 1130 am and the place is almost empty. We find a comfortable spot and I am impressed with the decor. Plush seating and a really bright dining room due to large windows. The floor is a tasteful mix of latex colors that run throughout the restaurant. Service was top notch as all of the staff are very attentive. The food was really good but the Tika Masala had too much sweet flavor. We were told they can adjust both sweetness and heat levels if you ask. The freshly made garlic Naan was amazing and cooked perfectly. The Tandoori Chicken was cooked perfectly and is served on a sizzling platter on a bed of red onion and peppers. My friend ordered a spicy goat dish made mostly with neck bones.. This dish had great flavor with the right kick of heat. If you want authentic Indian Cuisine in a nice place and served up by some really great people - come here. The lunch crowd filled the tables quickly so come in before noon.

Alexa C.

Yelp
Service The waiter was quick to help and answered all of my questions about the menu. The only hiccup would be they forgot to give me a box to take my food to go but it was because they got really busy near the end of my meal. Food The flavor of the food was the right amount of spice and the naan bread tasted fresh. I would definitely try other dishes the next time I come. Tip Parking can be a bit hard to find in the area and Daddy Ji does not have its own parking lot so I would factor in extra time to find parking.

Yelp
Arrived on graduation weekend Saturday, also the day before Mother's day, when all of the Claremont Village was bustling and getting more crowded by the minute. Fortunately we came only 20 minutes after the restaurant opened so we had no wait. Beautiful ambience inside with plush blue velvety seating, lots of natural lighting, very clean and inviting. Bathrooms are clean! The staff were welcoming and polite and eager to tell us about the menu. They gave us a carafe of cold water at the table, which they refilled before it was empty. I got carried away ordering because I wanted to try so many dishes: vegetable samosas with two dipping sauces, house style tikka, vindaloo chicken, chili stir fry chicken, jasmine rice, and an ice rose milk. The dishes that state they are spicy are medium. You can request them to be medium hot or hot as well. Our favorites were the chili stir fry chicken and the garlic naan. We packaged our leftovers to take home. As others have mentioned, customer service is 10/10. They are attentive and give you updates on your dishes if they don't come out all at once. Overall a lovely experience--we'll be back!

Yelp
This place is capital P-O-P-U-L-A-R!!! I kept hearing about it over on the local Claremont community page on Facebook. I decided to give it a go and I walked in and placed my order with the person running the check-in table, GREAT customer service she kept referring to me by my name and kept tabs on me while I waited on my food. Although this restaurant was filled and busy AF you could tell people were enjoying their food. I ordered the spinach paneer, garlic naan and the fish pakora and chicken biryani. Food was delicious the first night and the fish was definitely seasoned well. BTW when picking up to go -- they give you plenty to eat! If you coming to dine in expect a wait. Respectfully Reviewed.

Yelp
Incredible!! Fast, Uber friendly and the most delicious Indian food. They know what they are doing. Atmosphere 5*, professionalism 5*, popularity 5*. The garlic naan was some of the best I ever had!

Yelp
Overall the food met expectations. Not great, not bad, right about where I would expect. Chicken Tikka masala - the chicken was really dry and crumbly. The sauce was flavorful but oily. Butter Chicken - the texture of this chicken was better. Chicken korma - the sauce had a sweetness to it. Aloo gobi mutter - this was probably the best dish based on texture and flavor. Palak paneer - Good flavor. It was very mild for medium spice though. Vegetable biryani - this had good flavor. It's the first time I've seen baby carrots in an Indian dish. Garlic Naan - a little oily but good overall. Lacha paratha - we received this with a marker so we didn't actually eat it. Our paratha was packed with a marker which was a really weird discovery. I'm sure the grubby hands that used that marker probably touched our food anyway but the perception of opening up your food to find a marker had been sitting in there was off putting. . Side note, sadly this experience is why I'm hesitant to tip for takeout. Not only did we spend $142 for the food, we gave a little cash for tip...I guess the tip was to pay for the marker... Update: The restaurant contacted me yesterday to apologize for the mistake. It is extremely rare to find any person or business who is willing to take accountability. I appreciate how they reacted to my experience and did their best to make things right. Customer service is everything. I can't give them 5 stars because I still think the food is just OK and pretty oily, but the way they treat their customers deserves 4 stars.

Yelp
First time reviewer here! I went to Daddy Jo with my friend for the first time this evening. I enjoyed the Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan. My friend enjoyed the Coconut Curry with Lamb and Cheese Naan. Both curries were delicious and creamy and the proteins were tender and tasty too. My critique about the food was that it took awhile for the food to get out to us. Not sure if they were behind on orders or what, and the food wasn't piping hot when it was served to us. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with comfy seating and is perfectly located in downtown Claremont. The service was great! Will I come back? Yes because I want to try their pork chops! And would I recommend this establishment? Yes.

Yelp
Excellent everything. I entered the place and I could smell how good the food was going to be. I was so excited that I actually had a four course meal and nothing disappointed me and my husband. It's very annoying when you want to have something good but the only option to get it is by cooking. I finally found a place which can pamper my senses. The hospitality was real Indian hospitality. Extremely welcoming to everyone. Our server Kashish was very pleasant and it was real fun talking to her. I would come here again and will only eat my Indian food here if they never compromise with the taste.

Yelp
I was excited to try a new place especially since the overall reviews seemed good. I ordered food to go. Garlic naan was good. Mango lassi was as expected. The butter chicken was a fail. I dont know what masala they use or spices, it was almost a bitter and sugary taste. Maybe lime leaf or curry leaves. It did not taste like every other restaurant. I couldnt eat it. The chicken itself was tender and pulled apart easy and i liked that so please change your gravy base

Yelp
WOW. I can't believe they've only been open for six months. This place is the real deal... my boyfriend and I couldn't believe how tasty the food is. So flavorful! The garlic naan was nice and thick, more on the doughy side, which was nice to have compared to other thinner naans we've had. The chicken tikka masala and butter chicken are similar in taste but both equally AMAZING! The dosa was a great texture and they offered a coconut based chutney, a spicy tomato jalapeño tasting sauce (not sure exactly what was in it, but my favorite), and a side of lentil soup. Very very tasty and filling too! This is a family owned business so they were very welcoming and kind to explain the dishes we ordered. The food came out quick too! We came at a Friday night and the place gets pretty busy, so expect a 10-20 minute wait during this time. The decorations and walls were colorful and inviting too! Please give this place a try!! You'll want to come again!

Yelp
This place is on Indian hill next to the quarter restaurant. It is very easy to miss lol I know I did. As soon as I got out my car I got hit with the I Dian food aroma. Soooo good! This place is small but decorated nicely. They have nice green, soft furniture to sit on. Very different than most restaurants. Brightly lit. Cute. A very nice woman was cleaning the table I was about to sit at and brought us water and utensils. Seems family run. Got the chicken chili stir fry, samosas, garlic naan and butter chicken. There was a good Ration of sauce to chicken in the butter chicken. Garlic naan was fresh and fluffy. Samosas were big and tasty. The chili stir fry just didn't do it for me. It was a bit too salty for my liking. I asked for no onions so It also came with green bell peppers. Overall, cute little Indian spot. Prices range from $12-$18 for a side. I'm pretty sure that's normal Rate. It wasn't a crazy amount of food, but for two people, we had a tad bit left to take home for a meal. Worth giving it a try. Super genuine I Dian food. We enjoyed this spot very much!

Yelp
The food was so amazing! I work in the area and I have always wanted to try it out, and I am not disappointed. I ordered the Butter Chicken Plate, and it came with so much and the price is great too. Our server Kash was so welcoming and attentive to our party. The music they played was very fitting to the restaurant and provided a perfect ambiance for chatting.

Yelp
I LOVE Daddyji. I have no ties to anyone that works there and this is probably my first Yelp review. The food is fantastic as my wife and I have now had it 3 times and done take out and dine-in. Additionally the service is top tier. Owners are clearly involved in everything and care about guests having a good experience. There's a reason even the 1-star reviews that had a bad experience still can't complain about the customer service. It's a super busy small business. So expect that if you go for dinner there's not just gonna be a bunch of open seats. But there's a good reason this place is full for dinner pretty much every night. In summary, expect to put your name on the list and wait 20-25 minutes, don't order a "0" spice and complain about flavor, best restaurant in Claremont except MAYBE La Popular depending on the vibe you want.

Yelp
The food was soo good!! We ordered a couple different meals and got full really fast. They had really good portions and a variety of different flavors on their menu. The staff was so attentive and catering to our party. Definitely recommend the veggie pakoras!! The restaurant itself fits a decent amount of people but gets full pretty quickly so definitely make a reservation unless you're willing to risk it lol.

Yelp
Love the food and the service. We ordered the Tikka Masala with Chicken, the Coconut Curry and a side of Garlic Naan and Chili Naan. Chili Naan was amazing on its own and even more flavorful when dipped in the Masala or Curry. You can park in the back of the restaurant and also enter through the back. Next time we are going to order the Tandoori Chicken. We saw a couple of orders coming out and it looked delicious.

Yelp
Oh My Ganesh. I have not had food that tastes as good as I had in India until today at Daddy Ji. Their house chicken tikka is a secret(ly delicious) version of malai tikka. I am floored. My group did not have one bad dish and the servers are lovely. 11/10 recommend. (No pictures because we ate too fast!)

Yelp
Great addition to the community. My partner is from Burma so he loves Indian flavors. Too bad myself and my girl friends decided to check this place out first. Don't worry, he got leftovers. Based off of the waiter's suggestions, we ordered vegetarian pakoras, cheesy naan, chicken tandoori and a tikka masala. We wanted to veer away from butter chicken. Something we've had numerous times. We really enjoyed ourselves and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was well decorated with the space they had. Nice turquoise cushioned banquettes really popped against the white walls. We even tried the peach lassi, the mango lassi and a rose drink. We had a good time but when my partner tried the naan, he does not think it's made in a hot clay oven. Oh well. Still a nice addition and there were quite a variety of people still there when we left.

Our new favorite Indian food in Claremont. We've been a handful of times and have never been disappointed. Service is always attentive. They make everything fresh and when it's ordered so don't expect your food to be out in a flash. I don't mind waiting since the interior is so nicely decorated you can admire the inside but also people watch if you're sitting near the windows. My kids aren't super huge fans (yet!) but they enjoyed the tandoori chicken (still a tiny bit spicy for them)

Yelp
We enjoyed the food - took to go but the restaurant was very cute inside. Staff was very friendly and they offered "Indian Coke" which was a drink called "Thums Up" that tasted a lot like regular coke but slightly different. It was fun to try something new!

Yelp
Tried it for the first time yesterday, excellent food. The waiters were nice and overall service is great. The interior is modern and vibrant. My only complaint would be that because of the small space, the inside of the restaurant gets very warm. When my friends and I left, our faces were red from the heat inside the restaurant. Definitely try it though, I'm happy to see more and more Indian restaurants become common here in the valley.

Yelp
Our favorite spot in Claremont. Their biryani is something we keep coming back for, and the portion size is large enough so that you have delicious leftovers for the next day. Service has been attentive and swift when we've dined in, and the restaurant is clean and inviting. We get take out more often than not though, since what's more cozy than enjoying butter chicken, biryani, dal makhani, and throwing on a movie at home? We love you, Daddy Ji.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Indian food and let me tell you, It did not disappoint!!! Everything I tried was so amazing, the lamb shank biryani was definitely my favorite. The Chat-A-Chat Fries were amazing, I would eat a whole plate of those by myself. The spicy naan bread was SOOO good. Pineapple Lemonade was a hit. I definitely recommend coming here if you want a GOOD meal!! Portions are good for sharing! Leo had exceptional service, very attentive and kind. His energy is what made our time memorable. Kash was our server and had such good recommendations for it being some of our first time, she was so sweet and made our time experience here delightful. Will be coming back

Yelp
Fantastic food. Even better service. Kash and Leo were both fantastic in making sure we had everything we needed. Kash gave us a fantastic recommendation (Ghee Roast) and I will DEFINITELY be ordering it again. Everything comes out at the perfect temperature. Leo is always so kind and attentive making sure we are never missing anything, not even water. These guys are great! The food is great!

Yelp
My eldest daughter and I were on our way home on a Wednesday evening and wanted to get some dinner. I was racking my head as to where to eat. Light bulb! I remember an Indian cuisine in downtown Claremont so here we are at Daddy Ji. Daddy Ji offers a fusion of Indian and IndoChinese foods which I found interesting. Nevertheless, we came here for the Indian foods. We got a good variety of items. 1. Pani puri - This was surprisingly very good. It requires some assembly, but nothing we can't handle. See my photos for step by step. 2. Veg samosa - This was okay... the potato filling was a tad dense and needed a bit more seasoning. It comes with refreshing and delicious mint and tamarind chutney. Size was huge! 3. Chicken tikka masala medium spice - Curry was very tasty in flavor and spice was on point. White chicken meat was slightly dry IMHO. Lots of chicken chunks though. Good size bowl! 4. Chicken biryani medium spice with yogurt upon request - Dark chicken meat was very tender and moist. Spice was a tad spicier than what would have preferred, but we were still okay... the yogurt helped calm the spice. Tons of colorful and flavorful basmatic rice. Gigantic in portion! Must try!! 5. Garlic naan - Fantastic in taste and in size! Must get every time!! 6. Mango lassi - This was de-licious! It's probably the best tasting mango lassi we've ever drank. Must get always!! Staff was super friendly, nice, and very attentive. They came to our table regularly to ask how's everything... not overwhelming, but adequate. Very well staffed. Prices were very good and reasonable for the huge portions. Atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The front entrance is facing Indian Hill Blvd and the back entrance is where a small parking lot is located. You may enter and exit either side. Will we return? You bet we will... we want to try their famous butter chicken, more biryani, more garlic naan, and more mango lassi. Thank you Daddy Ji for bringing us yummy and delicious authentic Indian foods!!! Best of success!!! Btw, they just opened a few months ago in early 2024. Come on out and support them!!!

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this place but every time we go it has a long wait outside. We came on a Sunday around 12 pm and it was not too busy but by the time we were ready to leave all of the seats were full. I loved the decor and the velvet chairs . The color scheme was bright and fresh looking. Our waiter was super very friendly and shared recommended dishes. We ordered an appetizer that he had recommend and it was different but delicious. It was like crispy chips covered with yogurt and had garbanzo beans and other toppings. It was interesting but i couldn't stop eating it... we ordered our favorites chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo, garlic naan and basmati rice. The portions were a good size and the flavors were good.

Yelp
Small portion sizes, $15 for just butter chicken and mine came with 3 small pieces of chicken. They even left the leaf in mine, didn't bother straining it. Garlic naan was okay. Definitely had better indian food elsewhere.

Yelp
My family has been LOOOVING Desi cuisine recently, so we decided to try DaddyJi out after church! As you would expect, the food absolutely did not disappoint, plus the seating area has a nice modern vibe. The flavors were incredible, and the servers were kind. The food took more time than expected to reach us, especially since we seemed to be the only ones waiting besides online orders, and we didn't receive our naan or appetizer before the rest of the meal. One of the dishes didn't come out for another 5-10 mins after the others nonetheless, service repeatedly checked on us and were very accommodating. I got a classic tikka masala with mixed veggies and paneer at mild, and it was perfect. it was sweet and spicy and creamy and UGGGH VERY DELICIOUS. It's definitely the beginner dish for anyone trying Indian food for the first time. We also got the Biryanis rice with chicken (which looked stunning) and there were so many depths of flavors some other places lack. Super delicious and moist. The tomato basil naan was light and airy, yet crunchier than the soft stretchy kind i'm used to. The samosa chat was also sweet and savory, a great appetizer! Thanks guys for the great experience

Yelp
We have been here a few times. Including take out one time. I have not tried a ton but the butter chicken and tikka masala are both very good. Both similar but now I would go for the masala. The service has always been good. I am glad Claremont has an Indian food place. I will say that when we ordered takeout the servings seemed pretty small. Not sure if it was their Togo containers or not but the portions were on the smaller side. The food and service is good. I look forward to my next meal here.

Yelp
Got a vegan friend? Can't agree where to eat? Try Daddy Ji where you can have delicious vegan options AND amazing chicken tandoori and creamy spicy paneer and tikka sauces with chicken or veggies! Their samosas and garlic naan are a must! It's a small restaurant but cozy and ambiance is hip and urban. The staff are helpful and friendly! Expect a wait.. there's always a line because good food is made fresh and takes time!

Yelp
Love the atmosphere here. Food is always excellent! We always go for the chicken tikka and a mango lassi. Can't go wrong though with anything on their menu
