Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre Restaurants Forced to Close | Eater London

"A suya-focused food stall owned by Oliajide Agbede that was relocated to one of the replacement developments, maintaining access to its West African-style grilled offerings after the shopping-centre shutdown." - James Hansen

Where to Find West African Suya in London | Eater London

"Oliajide Agbede’s stall in the moat of Elephant and Castle is dedicated to broader Nigerian cuisine — fufu and eba, leafy nutty egusi soup, and fiery beef stews — but it’s his suya that brings people in. Seasoned and charred, the chicken suya is then reheated, chopped on the bone, and sprinkled with yaji, aromatic with ginger, freshly ground chiles and possibly cumin that is redolent of the spice mix used for Chinese skewers. Gizzard suya is made fresh and doused in an oily marinade containing onions and peppers. A double portion is £2 and can be mopped up with a Nigerian bun for 50p — a delicious dough dumpling with a crunchy outer crust of sugar, that offers a plain, sweet ballast to the gizzard’s fire and funk: simply, one of the best things possible to buy with £2.50 in London." - Jonathan Nunn

Where to Eat at Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre Before Demolition | Eater London

"A Nigerian-focused stall centred on charred, spice-rubbed suya—chicken suya reheated, chopped on the bone and dusted with a ginger-and-fresh-chile spice mix, and freshly made gizzard suya doused in an oily onion-and-pepper marinade—served alongside swallow options like fufu and eba, nutty egusi soup and fiery beef stews; a double portion costs about £2 and is often eaten with a sweet, crunchy Nigerian bun that offsets the heat, and the operator has been involved in discussions about relocating but has no guarantees yet." - Jonathan Nunn

We came across this restaurant via Google reviews, it is located close to the busy Elephant and Castle station. We met lovely staff, very welcoming and hardworking. Lovely view standing on the balcony. We ordered a plate of suya, poundo and egusi with jollof rice/plantain and pieces of beef, fish and smokey turkey. We had this with bottles of super malt, coke and fanta. The portions were great :), the egusi was very lovely and the poundo was fluffy/soft, just the way we like it. Well done team.

This is our second African food spot and it was incredibly delicious, I’ve always wanted to try new dishes and I wish I tried it sooner!! Home made food is always the best, and this place delivers that vibe, I highly recommend this restaurant :))

I first came here last summer and i fell in love! I came again during February of this year and was still so pleased with my experience. I ate inside for the first time and they were so nice and the experience was so authentic! I will be coming back this summer again :))

Me and my partner came here and stumbled across this hidden gem. The owner was so lovely and welcoming, he shared some recommendations. We had the jollof rice with chicken, and pounded yam, creamed spinach and beef - super generous portions and we absolutely loved it. So flavourful with a good level of spice. Would definitely recommend this place to others and we’ll be sure to come back for more.
