Nestled in Virginia-Highland, Dad's is a nostalgic speakeasy-style bar offering retro vibes, creative cocktails, and hearty comfort food from childhood.
"Dad’s in Virginia-Highland will be fully decked out in kitschy holiday decor befitting the cozy dens and basement rumpus rooms of the 1980s and 1990s, along with festive cocktails. Expect laser light projections, punk rock and hip-hop Christmas playlists, and a photo booth." - Su-Jit Lin, Eater Staff
"Dad's in Virginia Highland has a large patio that's always bumping with a crowd, who sips on everything from Appletinis to Old Fashioneds. But in a rare reversal, we actually prefer being inside because the man cave digs feature funky red bulb lighting above the bar, a working jukebox full of generic rock songs, and movies like Kindergarten Cop projected on the walls. It’s also worth a visit to the bathrooms to peruse the wall of famous dudes from sitcoms and movies (not to brag but we could name ‘em all). After a few drinks, try one of their culinary odes to latchkey kid Americana with items like cheesy pizza rolls, a fancy honey-drizzled uncrustable, or “White Kastle” burgers. " - juli horsford
"The interior of this VaHi bar emits an ‘80s basement aura, from the multicolored neon lights to menu items like nostalgic pizza rolls that run laps around those freezer-burnt ones from our childhood. And we love visiting their bathrooms to peruse the wall of famous dads from sitcoms and movies (we can name ‘em all). But the large, table-packed patio is our go-to spot to kick back with an Old Fashioned and a pile of zesty sesame wings, which are pretty f*cking good (which we can now say as adults). On those chilly days when the heaters warm up the open-air space, don’t make the mistake of taking off your jacket and leaving it behind. Dad would be extremely disappointed." - juli horsford, jacinta howard, nina reeder
"Dad’s in Virginia Highland has culinary odes to latchkey kid Americana with items like cheesy pizza rolls, french toast sticks, and even “White Kastle” burgers. Staying true to its namesake, the dad cave digs feature funky red bulb lighting above the bar, a working jukebox full of generic rock songs, and movies like Kindergarten Cop projected on the walls. And it’s worth a visit to the bathrooms to peruse the wall of famous dudes from sitcoms and movies (not to brag but we could name ‘em all). So when we want to relive the best parts of our childhood, this time with alcohol and better food, Dad's is a fun choice. photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair" - Juli Horsford
"The former Diesel Filling Station space in Virginia-Highland is set to become another neighborhood bar and restaurant this summer, allaying fears the property at the corner of North Highland Avenue and Drewry Street might be up for redevelopment. Randy Pechin, the owner of popular cocktail bar Little Spirit in Inman Park, purchased the building in February and plans to open Dad’s, a nostalgic spot with “good vibes” serving cocktails and comfort food inspired by “cool dads” from the 1960s to the 1990s." - Beth McKibben
