The Best Restaurants In Park Slope

"This sushi spot got its start in Dekalb Market Hall, but its location on Carroll Street is better. It’s peaceful and closet-sized, and the second you step inside, a tangy-sweet smell of vinegar rice will hit you like a well-seasoned brick. There’s no way to order wrong, but pay attention to the scallop roll with yuzu kosho and the salmon with ikura—either at the bar inside or at a table outside next to a couple feeding their dog edamame. Remember Daigo when you want to eat quality-tasting fish with someone you really like (or your dog).  " - willa moore, neha talreja, will hartman

Daigo Park Slope Review - Park Slope - New York - The Infatuation

"Daigo’s original location is inside of Dekalb Market Hall, but their Carroll Street outpost in Park Slope is secretly the best one. It helps that this sushi restaurant is not in a subterranean food hall (hello, windows), but we also like the particularly quiet street. The second you step into the closet-sized spot, the tangy-sweet smell of sushi rice hits you like a well-seasoned brick. photo credit: Kate Previte photo credit: Kate Previte photo credit: Kate Previte photo credit: Kate Previte On a Wednesday you’ll find the place packed with neighborhood folks: maybe a small group of friends sipping miso soup at the bar, and a couple sitting at one of two tables outside because they brought their dog who has a taste for edamame. The sushi rolls at Daigo are shorter and wider than you’ll find at your typical Japanese spot, which means slightly more rice, but more importantly, more filling. There’s no way to order wrong, but pay special attention to the scallop roll with yuzu kosho, the salmon with ikura, and the smoked trout roll—the fish for that one comes from the Hudson Valley. Everything is available as a handroll or a cut roll, and though a lot of people do takeout, it’s a pretty peaceful place to eat some fresh-tasting fish with someone you really like." - Willa Moore

Google
Popped in for a quick bite and was very happy! Got the lunch special: 15$ for two rolls. They had an option for 3 rolls for 21$. With both you can pick edamame or soup. Service was soo quick! Food was delicious

Justyna S

Google
we split the 3-roll lunch combo (we should’ve gotten 2 rolls each) and everything was so delicious. you could see everything being prepared behind the counter, which was nice — the atmosphere overall was just perfect. prices were very fair too, especially given the quality. could not recommend this place more!!

Google
What an experience!!!! Favorite roll of the day was Botan Ebi, such an explosion of flavor! The scallop roll was also exquisite.

Google
Genuinely surprised by the very high rating. The atmosphere is very nice, place is nicely decorated and has good music. The sushi however, was below mediocre. I had one California roll which was falling apart. Having warm rice sushi was also surprising. I also had some ikura, which itself was of decent quality. However, it was also falling apart, had warm rice. Rice is the most important ingredients sushi. In this case it was wet, warm, slightly too sweet, with no hint of vinegar.

Google
This place is a gem. Like seriously the best cut rolls and hand rolls I've ever had. Super fresh. Hand rolls nori are so crispy. Snow crab roll is delicious. My wife likes the spicy tuna and seaweed salad. Very good. Nice selection of saki. Don't hesitate because it's just rolls. It's amazing. Service is so attentive. Chefs are friendly. I go 3 times per month minimum. Recommend to dine in.

Google
Went in and ordered the lunch special with 2 rolls plus edamame for just $15. I got the seared salmon and shrimp with crunch rolls and they were delicious, I would specially recommend the shrimp with crunch. The server was super nice and the atmosphere was relaxing, with a good music background. Would definitely recommend!

Google
Very understated, simple, small Japanese hand roll bar. Reminiscent of one of many small establishments you’d find in a stall-lined street in Japan. 🇯🇵 It can get packed very fast if you’re here at a busy time but if you’re here off-hours alone? It’s perfect. The hand rolls are everything you need and nothing you don’t. The simplicity of crispy nori and fresh fish is 👌🏼. It’s not a place that will fill you up unless you really break the bank. But it’s a good place to eat very high quality food on a sensible portion. Eat well. Live well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
6/18/24 - I always start at 5 stars and drop if needed I availed their 3 roll + miso soup lunch deal during the heatwave of 2024 haha I sat at the bar by the chef. Not sure if he was Japanese I asked "suatte iidesu ka" (may I sit) and he seemed a bit confused or in his zone. Took a few minutes and the chef prompting the two servers to greet me - there were 2 guests outside and 4 inside at the time. I wish they marked on the menu what wasn't included in the lunch or what had add ONS but it was listed on the 8.5x11 that caught my attention on the door. The rolls were warm, not hot, but like almost a baked roll but not quite. Which was a bit confusing (I grew up in Japan in elementary and Guam for 20 years) Idk if fate so happened that the 3 I chose were warm rolls. Miso was light; some might say bland. Not that I am a sushi chef but these rolls were cut crooked and in varying sizes vs symmetrical like you would normally find "traditional" rolls Not a deal breaker. Great deal. Decent meal There was no music though which made the restaurant "feel weird" yanno. There's anothet Daigo right down the st as well so it seems to be a budding franchise possibly losing their special touch as they grow faster than they can keep up their 5 star standards. I'd still go again - but the 2 cheese pizza + canned soda for $8 down the road might be a better bang for your buck.

Yelp
Little hole in the wall in Brooklyn! Absolutely love their sushi rolls and service. My husband and I have been here a few times and we absolutely love their rolls. Our favorites are the scallop, spicy scallop, regular scallop, botan ebi shrimp (it has shisho leaf and plum sauce, perfect for summer but definitely not for everyone), spicy salmon, yellowtail and the special diago bowl. All the staff are really friendly and welcoming. They also split the rolls for you if they know you're sharing them, which my husband and I appreciated. It's been our go to spot if we crave sushi and they offer delivery!

Yelp
My go-to lunch spot! They have a great lunch special with really good quality sushi. 3 rolls for $19.95 and comes with either a soup or edamame. The servers are extremely attentive and the food always comes out super quick. The restaurant is small and cozy. Would definitely recommend!

Ryosuke T.

Yelp
This is what sushi place supposed to be. Fast, great quality, affordable. Hope they get one in Clinton hill!

Yelp
I'm not much of a sushi guy, but I had a pretty good experience here. I got the handroll lunch special (only available at the bar) which was decent value for $32. The fish was high-quality, the rice was fresh, and the sauce pairings on the later rolls (shrimp, unagi) added variety without being overbearing. Also ordered the salmon sashimi, which was tasty as well. Not sure if the cold weather was a factor, but this spot was not super packed during lunch on a brisk Saturday.

Yelp
Order in from my favorite Japanese restaurant in the hood never disappointed all the rolls are fresh and delish!!!

Yelp
- awesome sushi - rice is soft as butter - kind of in the expensive side - after two orders, I did not feel satiated
google avatar

Yelp
I am counting down the days to come back again! A cozy little spot with attentive service. I rarely eat alone, but eating at the bar made it easy. You can watch the chef make the sushi and hand it to you directly. I walked right in for lunch hour. They have a great lunch special of 3 rolls for $19.95. Some rolls had an up charge but given the quality and freshness, it was worth it. - Toro Roll: flavorful yet light. A classic. +$2.50 - Yellowtail Scallion: fresh and clean - Botan Ebi: shrimp was crisp to bite into which was unexpected since it's raw. Enjoyable roll that's different but I may not get again because I personally found the plum sauce overpowering. (I was really in the mood for light food this day.) Highly recommended to stop by!

Yelp
Have wanted to try this place for a bit. Had been a tad disappointed with some of our sushi orders from other places in the neighborhood. The amount you get in the rolls is less than you might be used to but the pieces, quality of the fish and creativity more than make up for it. They're also not out there charging the same price as a 6 piece roll for only 5 pieces, it's slightly cheaper. We got a wide selection but my choices were the spicy scallop, the shrimp with shiso and plum paste and the toro. The shrimp with shiso and plum was excellent. I've had shiso with sushi and liked it but the plum added an extra kick that I'd not experienced before. The toro was top tier as well. It also comes in a nice little box, the ginger was especially fresh and delish.

Yelp
This Daigo is better than the one in Dekalb, and my go-to for hand rolls. The seafood is fresh, and love the minimalist seating counter - this is not meant as a place to linger but a place to get a quick delicious bite and leave. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. What sets this place apart from the Dekalb location (and other neighborhood sushi shops for that matter), is the rice. Here it is absolutely perfect: in respect to temperature, texture, and taste. But don't take my word for it, you should go try for yourself! I chalk the quality up to the friendly old Japanese chef who usually works exclusively out of this location. My favorite place in the neighborhood for good quality, quick, affordable sushi.
google avatar

Yelp
The best ! Daigo makes great sushi rolls. Very fresh and delicious. The spicy scallop roll was my favorite, the best I've had in a very long time. The other rolls were delicious too. The rolls come nicely presented in a box, very appetizing and professionally designed. All around excellent.

Yelp
We finally made it to Daigo this past weekend. It was a cold day (and I was trying to get over a cold), so I started with miso soup, which hit the spot...so soothing. As for sushi, I got a salmon avocado roll and a spicy salmon roll (yep, salmon is my jam). Both were good, but there's no beating the spicy sauce on the latter. The menu offers the rolls in one of two formats, either a hand roll or a cut roll. I prefer the latter, but many people seemed to be ordering the former. The hub got a cut Spicy Salmon Cut Roll, a cut Spicy Tuna Cut Roll and a Yellowtail Scallion hand roll. The fish all tasted very fresh. To me, the rice was a bit too gummy, but the hub thought it was fine. As for the menu, it includes both vegetarian and vegan rolls in addition to the array of seafood options in roll and bowl formats. The space is long and somewhat narrow -- cozy, in a good way -- with bar seating and one long high top. The bar was pretty full, so we opted to sit at the end of the high top by the door. The service was prompt and polite, with plenty of water offered. We will definitely go back when we're next craving sushi.

Yelp
Daigo is SO good, maybe my favorite affordable sushi spot in BK. Their lunch specials are an absolute steal for the quality/freshness of fish. The restaurant itself is quite small, but service is fast and friendly.

Yelp
As someone who had only knew of Daigo through the food stall at Dekalb market, I was surprised when one day on the B103 I saw a storefront for it. And since I was in the area on Saturday, I decided to make that my early dinner. But like many others, I noticed that there were two Daigos in relatively close proximity. The first one was a takeout oriented spot for rolls which is the one I saw. The other one (this one) was close to the Union street R train station and had a sit down vibe. It was definitely quiet when I arrived at around 4. There was outdoor seats but I opted for the sushi bar. They allowed me to order from my seat and had the menu set up in paper. Being familiar with the menu, I had an idea of what I wanted. However, they had special combos posted on the wall, one where you can get 5 handrolls for 29 bucks (spicy tuna, salmon avocado, eel and yellowtail). So I opted for that. Because it was relatively slow, the chef was able to make my next roll as soon I as finish the first one. The fish was so fresh and melted in my mouth. I do really love that yellowtail. I have to say it is worth it to try this place out if you can't stand the ambiance of the market but love the fish as it is more contained, it has proper seats and you don't have deal with people passing you by to go to other stalls. On the flip side, it not as easy to get to like the market (train and public transportation). Like the other location, it has a great deal on the weekdays for rolls between 11 and 3 pm so I would definitely come back for that

Yelp
This is a small chill sushi spot. Actually my second time being here and don't regret coming back. The sushi here is great, the servers and front desk staff are great and nice and the the place is cool for a little quick date night. The prices are also reasonable too with a lunch special at certain times on specific days. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for good sushi and chill Lowkey spot to go to.

Yelp
Simply fresh and great quality sushi! I finally found a great sushi restaurant for takeout and I will definitely keep ordering again. I ordered the Shrimp with Crunch & Eel Sauce roll and the Eel roll and they were both delicious. The menu has unique, simple options. The sushi is well packaged and I appreciated that. This is one of the reasons why I think Daigo deserves 5 stars. There's two locations in Carroll Garden and Downtown Brooklyn (in Dekalb Markethall).
google avatar

Yelp
So good! Such delicious rolls and with warm service. Definitely want to try the rice bowl next time, but the overall very satisfied with the salmon and tuna rolls I had. Definitely coming back soon.

Chloe R.

Yelp
Everything is amazing. The food? SO fresh! I love the v-2 roll with extra spicy mayo. Always greeted with a friendly smile. Very relaxed atmosphere - perfect for taking yourself on a date !

Yelp
Omg the besttttt sushi delivery I've had in a long long time ! Sooo fresh and delicious
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite sushi place for its high quality fish. It is a hefty price but it is so worth it. For lunch it's $14 for 2 rolls and $19.75 for 3 rolls. Specialty rolls are additional cost. One of my favorite is their seared black cod. The seared salmon can be skipped next time. I love places where they have freshly grated wasabi. Definitely a place worth to try.
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
All of the pics are the maki rolls but the handrolls are what really excel here. That's what they made their name on at Albee One of the only hand roll bars in Brooklyn and one of favorite sushi spots. I've been to the one at Albee pretty much since they opened but first time at Carroll Daigo sushi rolls are fresh and packed with flavor. They will even bring it to your car which is amazing when I have 2 sleeping kids They offer indoor and outdoor seating It's a quick meal but one you can't miss. The Spicy tuna hand roll is one of the best I've had. Also love the spicy scallop, yellowtail scallion, seared salmon and classic salmon avocado. You can't go wrong here but def try the spicy tuna and scallop
google avatar

Yelp
Was expecting more from here given its rated as 5 stars but my experience with the food was ok/so-so. The presentation is very neat and exciting because it's a change from the usual sushi plastic container but it didn't deliver as well on taste for me. The best item I've tried is the seared salmon - would definitely get it if I ordered from here again. I wasn't a big fan of the spicy tuna unlike other comments here. Maybe just me - but I usually love spicy tuna! - so was a little disappointed. The toro was ok - I was looking forward to a fatty tuna but it didn't have that soft fatty texture. . There is an option to have less rice in the roll but I did standard since I thought it would be fine - but felt like it was slightly too much. Would do less rice if I ordered again in the future. We also got the cod rice bowl which was good - comes w slices of cucumber, avocado, wasabi, and ginger pieces - but not something I was crazy about having again.
google avatar

Vivian Y.

Yelp
The hand rolls aren't big, but they are extremely delicious! I had the spicy scallop and the eel avocado and the scallops were some of the freshest I have had in NYC!
google avatar

Nataliya M.

Yelp
Great little spot for sushi lovers! Same simple menu and quick service that I have come to love and expect at Daigo's Dekalb Market location, but here you have the option of cut rolls and rice cups in addition to the hand rolls. The space indoors is small, just two tables, but I noticed that the restaurant stayed quite busy with takeout and delivery orders during dinner hours. I have tried the cut rolls and the hand rolls and have made up my mind that the hand rolls are definitely still the way to go. You can't go wrong with toro (fatty tuna), seared salmon or the eel/avocado hand rolls and washing it all down with One Cup Ozeki sake. The prices are quite reasonable given the impressive quality and freshness, but their lunch special is also not to be missed: 2-roll ($12) or 3-roll ($17.45) orders come with miso soup and are available Monday through Friday 12-3pm. Definitely won't be long until I return!
google avatar

Sunny O.

Yelp
First time trying this place and safe to say I was very unimpressed. I ordered the eel avocado roll, mackerel roll, spicy salmon roll and juicy shrimp roll via ubereats. Nothing wowed me and the rolls weren't full at all. The ginger in my order looked like it was from the bottom of a bucket because it was all small shaved pieces. The rolls didn't taste super fresh and tasted like I bought it from a grocery store instead. After all 4 rolls, I felt like I ate air because it wasn't fulfilling and they were small. Note: photo was taken after I ate a piece lol!
google avatar

Lolin L.

Yelp
Wish I had discovered this place earlier. There's one table to sit inside currently as the sushi bar itself is still blocked off for pandemic precautions. They have some tall tables outside. We sat in. You order on paper, they give you two colored pens one color to indicate hand rolls and the other to indicate if you want cut rolls. They also offer sushi cups if you prefer to have your meal chirashi style. Rolls are around $6-$8 each. Soo worth it. They stuff their hand rolls with a lot of filling. The ingredients are fresh and their service was fast. The cut rolls look like they have less rice, but hard to compare. I tried their spicy tuna, salmon, toro, scallop, and yellowtail. All were excellent, the scallop is paired with a yuzu Kosho which surprisingly made the rice pretty spicy, a surprise when I had this one. They get a lot of takeout orders it seems like. A bit awkward to sit inside since you are the only party, but whether you're ordering takeout or sitting in, definitely worth it. One of the best hand roll spots in the city in my opinion.
google avatar

Dan K.

Yelp
solid to decent 9 on this one. I've only ever done delivery from here, but this place is super fresh and gives great portions. This is a goto for me now whenever I have a craving for sushi, but don't want to eat out somewhere. I just wished I lived closer. All the rolls I've had here are great, but scallop was definitely my fav.
google avatar

Kiley S.

Yelp
Disappointing as of late... We've been ordering sushi exclusively from Daigo since 2020, and we've consistently ordered the same items: salmon avocado rolls, spicy tuna rolls and miso soup. Unfortunately, today's order completely missed the mark. We were first surprised by the change in packaging - which once was all paper and branded is now cardboard and plastic, even the sauce sizes have been reduced. The miso soup was totally different - last time it was full of tofu and flavor, today it taste like it was from a paste I could find at the grocery store. Lastly, and the biggest disappointment was that the size of the rolls was drastically reduced and very uneven.
google avatar

Skye H.

Yelp
Favorite place in the area for takeout sushi! Their lunch special is a great deal! It's $14 for 2 rolls or $19.95 for 3 rolls. My boyfriend and I will usually order here for lunch and get the 3 rolls for $19.95. We'll get the spicy tuna roll, tuna avocado roll, eel avocado roll, and salmon rice cup. The fish is always fresh and has always been an enjoyable experience.
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
We've ordered sushi a few times now from Daigo, and their rolls have been some of the best sushi I've had in a long time. This may be takeout sushi, but they pay so much attention to the presentation that it feels like a much more elevated experience. The rolls arrive neatly packaged in boxes with separate compartments for soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger, and not only does that look nice, but it also ensures that the rolls don't come out tasting like ginger just from their placement in the box. We've only gotten cut rolls so far, but they also have hand rolls and rice cups that I'm sure are equally delicious. The quality of all the ingredients, especially the fish and the rice, has been far higher than one might expect from takeout sushi, and everything has been consistently fresh and flavorful. I also really like that their roll selection has some that you don't always find at other places, like saba gari (mackerel), Alaskan snow crab (with real crab), and ika mentaiko (squid with chili-seasoned cod roe and shiso). While every single roll we've gotten has been great, my favorites are the seared black cod, seared salmon, Hokkaido scallop with yuzu kosho, and ika mentaiko. Those are absolutely incredible. I'm not really sure how to go back to ordinary sushi takeout after this, because their rolls are that good.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't remember how I came across this sushi spot... all I know is once I saw that they serve uni rice cups, I HAD to try it! I ordered delivery via Uber Eats a few nights ago and bought 2 Uni Rice Cups ($15/each), an Alaskan Snow Crab Cut Roll ($7.50) and a Toro Cut Roll ($9). As I'm sure you can tell from the photos, Daigo follows the Sugarfish trend of aesthetically pleasing packaging - who doesn't love that? The cut rolls were delicious but not something I'd go out of my way for again. I do appreciate, however, that the crab is real crabmeat - not a lot of places do that. And for the moment I'd been long waiting for: taking my first bite out of that uni don. It was good, but didn't blow me away. Maybe I overhyped it for myself. I'm not sure if it was because I've had fresher tasting, melt-in-your-mouth uni before or if it was because uni doesn't travel well and lost its umph during its journey to me. The rice on the other hand was great. The cup seemed a little small at first glance, but it's a pretty solid portion for $15 and can definitely fill you up (with some apps/sides). Overall it was worth the try.

Yelp
Every time I am in the area, I always stop by for a scallop yuzu hand-roll or roll, depending on my mood. Today I decided to try their special bowl. It has jumbo shrimp, avocado, masago, salmon, cucumber and scallop. It did not disappoint.

Katherine M.

Yelp
Always good! Everything every-time! ! Accepts kids too. Warm atmosphere and alcohol! Fresh food and tasty!

Yelp
Daigo is exceptional. This is not a sushi restaurant you visit for an elaborate sit-down meal. The best way to go about a Daigo trip is to plop down on a seat at the bar, order 2-4 hand rolls depending on your hunger level, maybe get a one-cup Junmai sake if the mood strikes, all the while enjoying every second of the efficient experience. Skip the cut rolls as you can get those anywhere - the hand rolls are the specialty (hence the name). Of the specific menu options, Toro is my favorite with the Yellowtail Scallion being a close second, but you can't go wrong with any. Eventually I'll make my way through all of the fish (probably getting close already). The seaweed is crisp and delicious, rice done perfectly, and all the complements down to the wasabi are fresh. All in all, going to Daigo is one of my favorite food treats in the city. I am grateful to live close to it.

Chloe D.

Yelp
such a sweet place!! the sushi was absolutely delicious and the miso soup is perfect on a rainy day. the waitress was super sweet and the ambiance was great. the artwork here is super cool! would absolutely recommend this place and will definitely come back!

Yelp
The fawning reviews from the Times and Eater adorn the walls here, and for good reason; Daigo is simple, nuanced, inexpensive and incredible. Although they offer cut rolls, get the hand rolls. The delight of biting into a crispy, slightly salty sheet of nori can't be matched.

STFU D.

Yelp
This place has ruined all other "everyday" sushi places for me. Their lunch special and counter special are crazy good deals considering the quality, which is next level.

Yelp
Great, reasonably priced new sushi spot in the Gowanus area that opened at the outset of the pandemic. The interior is small but looks incredibly inviting, with an interior dine-in area with some sushi bar seating that yet to be used, of course. However, this seems like an excellent spot for take away until dine in is once again an option. All of their simple, straightforward menu options are available as either handrolls or cut rolls, or even in a rice cup. We went cut for sharing. The sushi was prepared and ready for pick up in clean, charming, and elegant packaging. The sushi was quite fresh and tasty--I particularly enjoyed the blue crab avocado rolls, but everything we tried--including the tuna and salmon rolls and some veggie rolls--were fresh and inviting and flavorful. They have an assortment of Japanese beer and sake options as well.

Yelp
Got some takeout from here today and was very impressed with the quality and taste. They got the ratio of rice to fish spot on and the seasoning in the rice was also just right. We got the seared salmon and toro handrolls. The seared salmon handroll was the star of the show. The salmon was so tasty and a bit fatty so it coated the rice with the fish oils and the yuzu kosho helped balance out the fattiness of the seared salmon. The toro was also good but would prefer the seared salmon over it. Also got several rolls; tuna koji, mackerel, yellowtail scallion and the Hokkaido scallop. Highly recommend the scallop - so fresh and had a sweetness to it. Mackerel was solid and the yellowtail and tuna were OK. Will def come back again, prices are reasonable for the quality and service was quick.

Lana V.

Yelp
SO GOOD! I've been pretty loyal to KazuNori in the city when it comes to hand rolls but Daigo may have edged them out. The warm rice is slightly warmer and the fish melts slightly faster in your mouth. Even the miso soup was phenomenal. Can't wait to return!
google avatar

Laurence S.

Yelp
This is one of the better merchants in Dekalb market. The salmon and tuna rolls are delicious and fresh. Only problem is you could easily eat 2x as much (at least) so it's not a cheap choice. But quality is solid! Most merchants in Dekalb market are overpriced and mediocre.
google avatar

Romy G.

Yelp
Ordered through UberEats. The sushi comes in one of those cute sugar fish type boxes. Like the other reviews suggest, fish was fresh and rolls were great. My favorite was the scallion yellow tail hand roll and spicy tuna. The roll portions are on the smaller size, so if you're hungry I suggest ordering 4-5 rolls.
google avatar

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
A bit of a approach. Taste is very good nice presentation. Fish is good quality. We enjoy it.

Ron N.

Yelp
Really nice hand rolls. We walked in close to closing. They welcomed us at the bar and let us know it was almost closing time but that we could still order hand rolls. They were great, and they people were gracious. The chef even gave us a complimentary roll. Thanks Daigo
google avatar

Ally M.

Yelp
This is my favorite sushi place in the area. Their rolls are simple and really emphasize the freshness of their fish and quality of the rest of their ingredients. The classic options are great, but my favorite is the Seared Black Cod which I haven't seen elsewhere. The Jumbo Shrimp is also a nice alternative to your typical shrimp tempura roll.

Yelp
Ordered for pickup to eat at a nearby brewery, so didn't actually get to experience the place. But on the other hand, got to see their cute packaging. Ordered the the Alaskan snow crab and the yellowtail. Both were good, but the snow crab was my favorite of the two. I always order yellowtail when trying out new places, and this was a solid showing. Would definitely order from them again!

Yelp
Yelp reviews on this place is off the charts. As sushi lovers, we had to give this place a try. Just got shrimp tempura hand roll which is not fried but include a shrimp, spicy Mayo sauce, eel sauce, crunch, and forgo cucumber for avocado for $8. My son enjoyed it a lot and tasted very fresh. I got the mackerel rice cup for $9. Wow the mackerel was very fresh and it sat beautifully in a cup of rice and diced cucumber and avocado. Presentation is gorgeous and every bite was special. The chefs seem very authentic Japanese so that is a big plus. It is a small place with seatings indoor including a sushi bar and limited seatings outdoor. I do highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back next time I am in Brooklyn.

Yelp
Intimate yet simple sushi bar (with a communal high top and a few outside tables). Supremely fresh fish that I would call delectable and the price is reasonable- including the lunch special - 2 rolls plus soup for about $15. I like hand rolls and the combination of the fresh fish (also got the scallops) warm rice and toasted nori were great. Sitting at the bar I could see them prepping some yellowtail tuna... We have family that deep sea fishes so it looks just off the boat i- the quality/grade this was just fantastic

Yelp
Grabbed take-out from Daigo Sushi Roll Bar on Friday afternoon. On the higher-end in terms of price, but very tasty and lovely presentation. Quality: Daigo Sushi Roll Bar is on the pricier side, but definitely worth it. I was impressed with the high quality seafood items, the flavor, and the presentation. We ordered the Three Roll Lunch Special and selected Salmon Avocado, Tuna With Koji, and Hokkaido Scallop for our rolls. Each was very fresh and delicious, I was especially a fan of the juicy Hokkaido Scallop Roll. Additionally we each got a rice cup, I selected the Spicy Tuna Rice Cup and my fiance went with the Salmon Rice Cup. While the small container makes it a bit hard to get a full bite at the start, once you have a small hole, all the different components go together so well. I definitely preferred my choice, but I would have been happy with either. Quantity: The Rice Cups are on the smaller side, I think two would be needed for lunch, or one with a roll or two. Value: $18 for the Three Roll Lunch Special. $9 for the Spicy Tuna Rice Cup. $8 for the Salmon Rice Cup. Ambiance: Daigo Sushi Roll Bar is a tiny, but chic sushi bar in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn. It is a place you would not naturally stumble upon, as it is a bit into the block rather than on the main street. Out front they had a picnic table, for the brave winter diners. Inside they had a pair of high-tops, but the majority of seating is at the long wood sushi bar, which is currently not available. It is a cute, minimalistic space, with lots of wood features and plants. It would be a place I would like to dine at inside once things return to normal. Crowd: When I arrived one couple was sitting outside eating lunch, and one other individual was awaiting his take-out order. Service: They are extremely fast, my online order was ready in less than 15minutes. And I love the packaging they use for take-out orders. Rather than just shoving everything into a few plastic boxes, they have a specialty container that opens like an adorable little sushi station. Parking: Pretty easy street parking in front of the restaurant.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. They have limited indoor and outdoor seating. I was surprised by how fresh everything was. We ordered a few handrolls and they bring it out one at a time so the seaweed doesn't get soggy. The scallop, spicy tuna, and shrimp handrolls were delicious! Too bad they didn't have Uni when I went.
