10 Rooftop Bars in New York City With Stellar Views and Cocktails

"The Daintree Rooftop & Lounge, located at 25 W 38th Street, offers style and substance to match. The lounge is decorated with vibrant pops of color and lush plant life, though the real star of the show is, of course, that gorgeous skyline backdrop. Go for wine, beer, or something more inventive like the Umami Old Fashioned, made with Diplomatico Reserva, Whistlepig 6yr rye, applejack, orgeat, and miso-saline." - Stacey Leasca

NYC Rooftop Bars Where You Won't Have To Wait In Line

"Daintree is a very cute rooftop lounge that gets just full enough to give the bar some life, but not so full that it's impossible get a walk-in spot on one of their pink couches. You should make a reservation if you have a bigger group or want to be absolutely sure you won’t have to wait—but you probably won’t have to wait more than 10 minutes even if you don't. Either way, they don’t do lines. The only thing to keep in mind is that the outdoor terrace is small, so you’ll likely be sipping your martini and looking out at the Empire State building from the inside during peak hours. Daintree Rooftop & Lounge - Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"Daintree is a very cute rooftop lounge that we wish had more rooftop. While you get an impressive view, you’ll probably have to enjoy it through a glass wall. The terrace is a bit small and shabby (and off to the side), and it feels like your rooftop at home if you happened to live across from the Empire State building. But we’d still choose this roof over many others in the area for the martini menu and excellent small plates like the focaccia with whipped ricotta and crispy halloumi laffa." - Neha Talreja

High above Midtown with a direct Empire State Building shot, Daintree brings Australian-leaning hospitality, a martini-forward menu, and a leafy terrace. Time Out New York’s 2025 review captures the vibe: stylish but welcoming, with drinks worth lingering over.

Excellent atmosphere. I came during happy hour and had exceptional service. Drinks were great, and a popcorn snack is always appreciated!

Google
Lovely bar …amazing view of the Empire State Building ….delicious cocktails and attentive staff 👍🏻

Mary Kedo

Google
Very cozy lounge with an incredible view, service is good. There are not as many food options, but everything tastes good. The only weird thing is that we had margarita cocktail there on Tuesday and on Saturday and those were significantly different. Less alcohol and wasn’t full glass on Tuesday, but always filled and delicious drinks on weekend. Make sure you visit the open rooftop&bar, which is one level up from the lounge

Google
Daintree was a wonderful rooftop experience. I highly recommend this place for a birthday celebration or weekend date night. The place is gorgeous and even the lounge views are amazing. The rooftop area is super cute with an outside bar available as well. The views are great and the French fries are delish with amazing cocktails. I had a great espresso martini (cold brewtini) there. I would say this is a place you would like to wear a cute outfit to, as it is upscale-ish. The service was great and the location was walking distance from our hotel as well. Great area to go to from the Hell’s Kitchen area. Highly recommend for girls night and everything is picture worthy. Can’t wait to come back!

I've been here several times. Their service and staff are consistently great. For a rooftop bar with very nice views of the Empire State building, they're one of the good ones. Most rooftop bars you will see in the city are overpriced with water-downed drinks and pretentious and rude servers. This place is the exception. Their cocktails are really good and strong and their servers are the best. Definitely one of my all time favorite rooftop bars in New York City! (my three star food rating is just for the hummus which I ordered the last time I was there. Not sure how the other dishes in the menu are.)

Google
I paid for a table for 2 for my birthday during an event. They said the table was there and to wait a few seconds, but once we came upstairs they told us they gave our table to someone else (without any time constraint warning priorly). The night sucked, I was planning on getting food but didn’t feel like eating standing up. Night ruined by poor management. Also the rooftop is more like a penthouse with a subpar view rather than a rooftop. Here’s a photo 😂

Great atmosphere, delicious food and drinks. The views were amazing. Highly recommended.

Google
Located in the Hendricks hotel - a hidden gem of a rooftop bar. Exceptional views. Made a resy for a couch by the window and was not disappointed. Yummy cocktails with a spectacular view. Humus was delicious but not many veggies with it. Complimentary fresh popped popcorn, too!

Yelp
This is such a cute little date spot or place to go with friends! The rooftop has such a great view of the Empire State Building and is honestly really cute for a good convo and catching up! It's a small little spot but has tables and chairs to sit and watch the view. We had the blood orange mule and the spicy tequila cocktails and they were pretty yummy! The bartender was also welcoming as well.

Yelp
Daintree Rooftop Bar in Midtown offers an absolutely stunning view of the city skyline, including an incredible view of the Empire State Building. The ambiance is perfect for a date night, with comfy couches and spacious seating areas. The service is top-notch, and the drinks are fantastic--I highly recommend trying the N.Y. Iced Tea. It's a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable evening with breathtaking views and excellent hospitality.

Yelp
This is a solid rooftop in a tourist-y/business traveler-y part of midtown, on top of Hotel Hendricks. In terms of views, I would say you get an EXCELLENT view of the Empire State Building, even if the skyline in its entirety is not as stunning at other places. Note that there are 2 indoor lounges and a smaller outdoor (not covered) rooftop terrace (you need to take ~2 flights of stairs to get to the outdoor part). I went on a Tuesday, and the entire place was PACKED by 7 PM. The drinks here are not exceptional, but they ARE strong. They are also priced like cocktails in Midtown ($18+ range). We did not have a chance to try the food here, but this really feels more like a drinks-focused place. Stick with doing that here and eat elsewhere.

Yelp
Excellent views of the Empire state building, lovely staff and delicious drinks! In addition to the rooftop, they have an amazing glass walled interior lounge space. The space looks quite airy and bright during the day which transforms into cozy and romantic at night. Most places in the city don't have all of those things down and I am so glad to have found my favorite! In spite of coming here so many times, I never get bored - not only do they keep the menu interesting, but the afternoons, evenings and late nights all have a very different vibe - laid back vs fancy. It is no doubt one of the best places to watch the evening turn into a night.

Yelp
Aussie spritz - it tasted like DayQuil medicine for me Sticky date pudding - amazing !!! Sticky. Sweet. Salty. Fluffy. With the whipped cream was a perfect bite! Service was good- no complaints Ambiance was dark hue and casual I would give 8.5/10 for the pudding!

Yelp
Had a nice time at Daintree! There decor is very cute and the staff is friendly. The view is nice although I think there are better NYC rooftops if you're really looking for a view. The happy hour had some cocktails and bites, so we had the blood orange mule and hummus plate. Really enjoyed the mule - it was flavorful without being too sweet. Then had the Ms Cosmopolitan, which was too sweet for me although if you like sweet drinks you might like it. The hummus plate was standard. They give a free bowl of seaweed popcorn, which was nice. Music was a bit loud, so keep in mind if you're on a date or looking to have an intimate conversation. Otherwise a nice place to check out!

Yelp
We stopped at Daintree in between dinner and another rooftop reservation in the area. Upon entering on a Saturday night, the rooftop was not crowded at all. The ambiance was dark, cozy, and relaxing. There's seating near the windows for views of the city, but we cozied up in two chairs surrounded by plants. The plants added a nice touch to the rooftop and actually separated us from another party on the other side. I didn't order a cocktail and just settled for a glass of wine. Their wine list isn't extensive (as expected). I didn't take a look at any food options that they offered.
google avatar

Libby H.

Yelp
The ambiance, view & Garden Soirée cocktail get five stars; the food, not so much. Is it just me or does everything get over-salted these days, thanks to everyone's taste buds being dulled? Popcorn, burger, french fries. Nothing on their menu offered anything that would have offered a break from the salt. Yes, I get that it's a bar and you're paying for the gorgeous view, but the cliché of over-salted to get the clientele to order more drinks feels a little on the nose.
google avatar

Lili K.

Yelp
This rooftop has such great views of the Empire State Building-my favorite iconic landmark in NYC! You can also take an additional flight upstairs to go outdoors, and get an even better view!
google avatar

Karen G.

Yelp
relatively small rooftop lounge bar with a terrace space and solid drinks. we order bites but they took over 30 mins to arrive but were decent. we had a bit of a miscommunication on seating and due to the delay in the food - we were asked to settle the bill upon only receiving our food for less than 20 minutes.
google avatar

Joe O.

Yelp
Arrived as a walk-in just before sunset and was warmly welcomed. Good beer. But let's talk about the views. Inside: warm, comfortable perfect view of the Empire State Building. Take the stairs up a level and you're rewarded with an outdoor terrace where you can take in the atmosphere of sunset in Manhattan. Of all the rooftops this was one of the best finds.
google avatar

Melanie C.

Yelp
I've been to Daintree twice now and absolutely love it. Both times I've made reservations which I would highly recommend (the rooftop doesn't require reservations but the area is quite small). Happy hour drinks are $12 and the views of the Empire State Building are STUNNING. This is a great option for when you have friends or family visiting NYC.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun and really good cocktails and bites. Great energy from the bar! Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Cute and cozy spot with drinks and pretty views. I love the decor of this place. Everything is just so neat and well decorated. It's a great spot to come with your partner or friends over drinks and just enjoy the midtown skyline views.
google avatar

Cherrilyn B.

Yelp
Looove the vibes. Love the drinks. Love the views. decor is so cute and instagrammable. But the service is so ass lol every time I come it takes so long to order a drink because the servers are overwhelmed/understaffed and can't remember who came first. Three times now I've gone here and waited at the bar and saw other people order AND get their drinks before me even though I was there first. But i still give it 4 stars because I know they aren't trying to be rude just overwhelmed.

Yelp
Stopped by here on a weeknight and it was fairly busy. Would recommend making a reservation if possible especially if you have a larger group. They were able to accommodate since I was just a party of two. The rooftop is located on the top of a hotel, which also has a cute bar area on the street level that I've also grabbed drinks at the first time I was here when they didn't have availability. There's two areas once you get off the elevator to sit at. There's the front area that has floor to ceiling windows and offers a wonderful view of the city. The other is the back area with the bar, which was still a lovely place just didn't have as nice views. They no longer have the $12 special with 6 oysters and a drink sadly - they just have happy hour from 4-6pm and 11-close. It's a decent happy hour for NYC as prices for cocktails are around $10-$11. We also ordered fries ($8) which came with a brown garlic aioli dipping sauce, and was good to snack on. Overall a cute spot to bring friends visiting nyc or stop by for happy hour!

Yelp
Watched the skyline transition from golden hour magic to sparkling nights lights Felt like I left NYC without going far at all! Between the yummy bites, wallet-friendly drinks and stunning scenery, Daintree is a fabulous hidden gem. The ultimate after-work cocktail spot! .
google avatar

Matt P.

Yelp
A pretty fun spot overall with great cocktails, but an underwhelming rooftop situation. Location means everything in the city, so if you're just getting out of Penn, Koreatown or Bryant Park this is an ideal location for an after-after party. Kudos to the DJ for mixing Drake with TLC btw.
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
Great views! We came for happy hour but they no longer have happy hour. The cocktails were good, but it was so sunny inside I had to wear my sunglasses and it got pretty warm. The small menu they had sounded okay but when the food was brought out to those around us, it looked worth the price (size and in appeal), although no oysters on the menu. For not having reservations, we were allotted 90 minutes at our spot, which I thought was more than reasonable. However it does get packed, and the elevator takes a while.
google avatar

Yelp
We visited recently, so this is not an oyster review. Daintree is not without its charm (palm trees everrrrwhere), but it's a pre-game spot, not a spend-the-night spot. There just isn't much in the way of space, views or drinks to pass more than an hour or two. Yes, you can see the Empire State building directly in front of you, but the overall vista is so narrow that there isn't much else you can see. Drink-wise, I liked the Tropic Thunder and Taipan, but was meh on the Diplomat. Our server was nice, though, and knew when to check in and when to leave us alone. On the same block, you have Daintree, Spyglass and Refinery rooftop bars. Out of the three, I'd rank Daintree last. Like I said, it's not without its charm, but it also isn't particularly memorable in a sea of rooftop bars.

JJ D.

Yelp
What a wonderful evening we had. Crisp service and fantastic views. Can highly recommend.

Yelp
Like many other yelp reviews around the same time (Feb 2022), I came to Daintree after hearing word of their insane oyster deal from TikTok. What is the deal you ask? Well, for the small price of $12, you get 12 deliciously fresh oysters topped with trout roe and a delicate cucumber sauce along with a drink of your choice. The oysters normally sell for $23 for just a half dozen! So getting a whole dozen for $12 is an absolute steal. This is only for the month of February so make sure you book a spot fast! The drink options include negroni, old fashioned, martini, and the manhattan. We got the old fashioned and martini and they were very good but probably the highest alcohol content I've ever had for those cocktails, so be careful! The vibes were on point here. It was lounge style, and we got to catch a good view of the sunset as Daintree is on the enclosed rooftop of a high rise.
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Newish to the hood and on the 29th floor with amazing views. Well laid out floor plan doesn't have you on top of others. Drinks are very pricey and did try the happy hour which is great. Husband ordered the $10 Old Fashioned and I got a Tito's soda which was $18 and had three large ice cubes. Unfortunately no vodka based drinks for happy hour. Enjoyed our visit and will try Daintree again with friends.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
If you want a cozy spot for city views and great sunsets, this is a great choice. Daintree kept coming up in my search for a decent bar with skyline views. I highly suggest making a reservation if at all possible. I was alone so I sat at the small bar, but a group of any decent size will likely want a reservation in the larger room that has the best views. The bartenders were great, quick and helpful. I was impressed with the Tequila selection here too. All in all, great spot for midtown drinks and views. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
View is AMAZING! We sat directly in front of the Empire State Building and watched the sunset and the lights come on - dreamy. The food is overpriced and tinyyyyy portions (at least the appetizers). The wine was priced pretty fairly. The only con is the service...we had to wave down the server any time we needed something; they never once came to check on us out of their own free will and everything was an annoyance but at least the view was good!

Beth Ann M.

Yelp
What a waste of a view! The outside area has an unclean appearance. The bartender was unfriendly and not helpful. He did inform me the Alperol Spritz would use some substitute for Alperol, I ordered it with an orange, thought worth a shot at the Happy Hour price. It arrived with a lemon and I was charged the full price. We left and hit a great Irish Publ (Westbury) across the street!
google avatar

Jody L.

Yelp
Outdoor area was not available. Not much view. Drinks were fine. $11 each for happy hour. Service was fine. Would appreciate if they refill our water. It was just super sunny. Needed to put my sunglasses on. Free popcorn. Charged us 20% for service fee and was asked to if we wanted to give additional tips LOL. Would not come back.
google avatar

Steph S.

Yelp
Great spot in midtown for happy hour. A Manhattan for $10 is very rare these days, particularly with such an incredible view of the Empire State Building. We didn't have reservations but stopped by because we were in the area and still got a window table (arrived around 5pm for sunset. The halloumi fried were very yummy and I had wanted to try the popcorn but didn't see it on the menu. All in all great spot in midtown for drinks with a view :)
google avatar

Madeline A.

Yelp
Awesome new rooftop bar! Made a reservation on a Saturday evening but didn't need it at 4pm when they opened. This rooftop is quiet with an awesome view of the Empire State and downtown Manhattan. Cocktails are $16 and wine is $18. They also have a small food menu. We ordered the lemon ricotta dip which was delicious! Definitely worth it! They add a 20% tip to your bill automatically, FYI! There are also two sitting areas downstairs from the rooftop. Very modern cute decor! Overall, awesome rooftop! One of the best in Midtown I've been too!
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
I'm so glad I happened to find this place on Instagram -- it did live up to the hype! It was really the food and drinks that sold us (the space itself was smaller than I thought!). We came for the March happy hour special ($10 for classic cocktails). I really liked both the Cold Brew cocktail and French '75. I also liked the complimentary seaweed popcorn--a great snack! However, what really blew us away was the dish with focaccia and ricotta. There was a spicy chili oil on the ricotta which was such a cool combo--never had a dish like this before! There were so many other things on the food menu we would have loved to try. We would def come back!
google avatar

Felice L.

Yelp
Go for the ambiance and drinks. Cool vibe, diverse and relaxed crowd. The frozen drinks, in particular, are to die for. Amazing place to watch the sun setting behind the Manhattan skyline. First-come, first-served for the outdoor rooftop seating - if you can snag a table on a nice summer evening, linger and sip with friends while taking in the fantastic views of the city.
google avatar

Royce R.

Yelp
This is such a fun rooftop bar that I don't ever hear a lot of people talking about. It's located on the 29th floor of the Hendricks Hotel. The rooftop area is a bit small, but has an amazing view directly looking at the Empire State Building. Downstairs they also have a lounge area. They only serve food in the actual restaurant area of the hotel, but they serve 1/2 a dozen oysters for $12 during happy hour AND it comes with a free drink. That is a steal!
google avatar

Flora H.

Yelp
Impromptu came for Oysters at the bar after happy hour drinks nearby because my friend insisted of having oysters at a bar. $26 for a 1/2 dozen seemed a bit pricey but it was topped with trout roe so maybe that explains it? The vibe on a Thursday night was a bit strange - a gentleman sitting next to us seemed to be getting into an altercation with one of the staff (he may have been getting cut off). The view was good, but the space felt a bit narrow and claustrophobic. Also be careful: they automatically add a 20% gratuity to our bill. It served the purpose of what we were looking for, but wasn't my favorite.
google avatar

Kelly Y.

Yelp
Came here with a couple of friends on a Friday night for drinks. It's a nice rooftop area to enjoy the summer night but their service could be better. Drinks are really good but happy hour ends early at 6pm. I wish it could be extended until 7. Great date spot or great spot to bring your friends from out of town.
google avatar

Yung Chun C.

Yelp
U like oysters? Love oysters? Nice atmosphere? Drinks? Deals? Vibin' with friends? Well I know I do. So finding this rooftop bar gem was FAB! Cute! And a place I wanna bring my friends!!!!! FIrst time at Daintree and I loved my experience there! Brought my friend and she really enjoyed herself too! We ordered 2 dozen oyster, 2 old fashion, and the whipped lemon ricotta. Feb deal- a dozen oyster with a classic drink for $12 - a dozen oyster ( topped with trout roe) -a classic drink ( choice of: Manhattan, Old Fashion, Negroni, Martini) -Tuesday - Saturday -4pm -6pm The menu book was clean and chic. Decor and the view was FABULOUS! Food was BOMB! Last year I found out that shucking oysters r fun but tedious. And THIS oyster deal ( for this month) is a deal that I just COULDNT PASS UP! A dozen oyster with a classic drink for $12! And these oysters had smoked trout roe! I mean the DECADENCE! Oysters already makes me feel Boujie but adding roe on top?! That's boujie on another level~~~~ and I'm here for it! The oysters were SO delicious. The drink choice with the deal, wasn't our favorite ( because they were strong drinks and we prefer sweeter cocktails). But we did get the old fashion which smelled BEAUTIFUL! The orange essence ! Would love to try their other cocktails next time. What really shocked us was the whipped lemon ricotta with pistachio chili crisp/ oil with herbed focaccia. It was MIGHTY DELICIOUS! Great texture and flavor! Was not too heavy or too spicy! So BALANCED! The only thing is, NOT ENOUGH FOCACCIA!!!!!! BREAD IS LIFE!!!!! But u know carb is everyone's enemy (by everyone I mean ME!) Overall it was a very nice atmosphere to be in and COMFORTABLE! The hostess and staff were all super friendly and kind! Would go back again!
google avatar

Yelp
What a cute cocktail bar! (Should've taken more seating photos, but they're all over the internet). Had an espresso martini that was amazing, and the bubbly featured in my photo. Pay attention to their IG for happy hour deals (right now there's and oyster and cocktail one that I'll be trying to take advantage of) and come for sunset, also pictured. The staff just makes you feel taken care of. Come with girlfriends, family or a date, everyone will be impressed.
google avatar

William L.

Yelp
Strong drinks , stunning view, and quick and attentive service. What more could you ask for?
google avatar

Sai B.

Yelp
TLDR: Go for happy hour! Their happy hour deal is a dozen oysters and a cocktail for $12. Go early because they'll run out!! But their appetizers are a huge hit and the view is absolutely worth it at sunset.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
Came to daintree on a Saturday night! It wasn't too crowded and the view was beautiful! We had a reservation but it seemed like you could potentially get in without a reservation. The drinks were around $18 or so! We ordered the garden party and the taipan. Both drinks were pretty strong! I felt like the garden party one didn't really taste like what the menu said it included, but it was still ok! They also give you some popcorn to munch on which was nice!!
google avatar

George D.

Yelp
Came here for a drink. The bartenders is very polite. Apparently you can get better drinks down in the main area than you can on the rooftop. But the roof is very nice, although small for seating. So make sure that you scout out prior to your party coming if hanging upstairs. Either way, it's an impressive area.

Courtney T.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday. Amazing views and drinks. Would reserve the Empire State Building seating from 7-9 at the end August. We got to see the transition from day to night in NYC. Caution the dessert was different than listed online. If you want someone thing specific, make sure to confirm before going.
google avatar

Capers B.

Yelp
Came here for the oyster special that's running through February and am so glad we did. HH Special is $12 for a dozen oysters and one *classic* cocktail. Initially when we arrived there wasn't anything advertising it (one of those iykyk) so we ordered a regular cocktail before inquiring. Regular cocktails are approximately $18. Beyond the beautiful view the space is really well designed and perfect for a small group to hang out without feeling crammed or forced to finish drinking and moving on quickly. Even without the HH if you can get a spot with a solid view an $18 is still worth it to have an intimate conversation, impress an out-of-towner, etc. I'll definitely be back.

Chris K.

Yelp
Trendy yet chill penthouse lounge with cozy bar and nice views. Would come here with a few friends or for a late night drink. Not sure I would recommend for large groups as the bar is small and the vibe is more laid back.
google avatar

Niha K.

Yelp
Made reservation and came on a Saturday evening with a friend. It was kind of annoying to get up to the rooftop because the elevator is veryyy slow and you share the elevator with hotel guests so it kept stopping on different floors. The bar itself is very very cute. We got seated by the windows and the chairs were all facing the view so it was perfect. They give you complimentary popcorn. The drinks were strong and good. Knocking off a star because the fries, though tasty, said they were served with aioli but it was just straight mayo?
google avatar

John E.

Yelp
This is an honest review. It started okay with a 10:30 reservation using Resy. We arrived early and they seated us. Service was a little slow but the view was great and the server was nice. Ordered a bottle of wine and whipped ricotta. About 20 minutes later the music was turned up super loud and the mix was terrible. All highs and no bass at all. Good sings but they ruined them with ear splitting mix. Server disappeared for over 30 minutes. Finished our bottle and waited. And waited. Finally got up and went to the hostess and said we need to pay and leave. Eye rolls later and a 20% grat on a two top and we ended a great day in New York at this disappointment. Won't be back. Don't recommend.
google avatar

Sandy Y.

Yelp
Great cocktails, great atmosphere, great vibes. Ordered the "one way ticket," which is an experience. Basically, you tell the server/bartender what type of liquor/ingredients/flavors you like and they make one up. Pretty solid drink and had all the components I asked for. This is a great date spot - quite dark, good drinks, and good layout (I recommend being in the lounge area).
google avatar

Liz N.

Yelp
The views were GREAT the drinks were basic and nothing impressive. I've had much better Old Fashioned's. My husband LOVED the oysters.

Matthew S.

Yelp
The food comes in very small portions and was fine, the kangaroo skewers are very small and very overpriced. Most importantly, all bills have an automatic 20% tip added to them for some reason which meant the service was slow and inattentive. The view is nice but not good enough to make up for the overpriced food and bad service.
google avatar

Marie A.

Yelp
Martinis and oysters with an epic view. What more could you want? An expertly crafted cocktail list - Check! Complimentary popcorn with a twist - Check! And a front row seat to an epic sunset with the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center providing the most stunning backdrop - Check! Love, love, loved my experience at Daintree
