Google
Great food with crazy big portions for the price! I got the regular Katsu chicken plate, which should really be called the giant plate lol. I was able to finish about 30% of it before getting a to-go box. It's seriously about 2.5 meals in one. It's about the same price as L&L but about 2x the meat. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Google
Get the Bulgogi fries ! Man came here because I was craving Hawaiian food. I saw this spot was new, and wanted to try it out. I took one of my buddies with me and we shared the bulgogi fries and lumpia. The fries were amazing it’s a must try! I got the beef combo plate, the Korean short ribs and the beef bbq. It was so amazing !! Then my buddy got the bbq chicken. I tried one of his bbq chickens and it was tender ! Definitely coming back here ! Lots of seating inside and the cashier was helpful telling us what to get.

Our first time our neighborhood restaurant. Ordered Teriyaki chicken, it tasted so good, proportion is ample for 2. It came with rice and macaroni salad. To top it off, there’s a live band playing. We’ll definitely come back,

Google
Absolutely delicious! We got the Dalu Fish Plate which was large and fried to perfection. We also got the Katsu aloha mix which which was so good. Rice and macaroni was very good and the hot sauce they had was a perfect kick. Will definitely come back again Photo is after the meal was half eaten 😋

Google
I ordered the aloha plate and lumpia for delivery so cant rate the atmosphere. All of the meats had delicious flavor and were perfectly cooked. I was amazed with how generous the portions were. Will definitely be trying more of the menu ASAP.

Google
Dalu Hawaiian BBQ, I’ve been waiting for you!❤️ I walked in around opening (10am) to get some lunch. I’m a fan of “fast-food” Hawaiian bbq and I was very interested to give this joint a try. As I walked in, I noticed that it wasn’t busy, but I’m not surprised seeing that they just opened up and it was 10 AM in the morning. The girl (and I say girl because is very young and beautiful, I’d have to guess in her early 20’s) is very polite, professional, friendly, and accommodating. She greeted me as I walk in through the doors. Beautiful smile… sorry…. ANYWAY, I looked at the menu to look for an item that I would usually get at Ono Hawaiian bbq (there are no Ono’s in San Diego county that I know of, Google maps says so) so I found something which I thought was equivalent to my favorite: Teriyaki Beef Plate (see pics). As I was waiting for my order I took some pics of the dinning area (beautiful girl did not want to be in the photos and I respected that). Very roomy, very accommodating and very “sport-bar” vibe chill. They have a bar! Not a full-blown bar but if I wanted a beer I could order one or a pitcher! I like this! No beer today, though. I’m on a lunch break and don’t dnd. They do have some Spirits and wine to choose from, maybe a mixed drink as well. I appreciate their bar. I didn’t have to wait more than 5 mins for my order. The beautiful girl ask if I would like teriyaki sauce or Sriracha. I’m a Sriracha guy so I asked for that and some chopsticks because that’s how I roll. She added a fork, napkins and handed me my order and said with that beautiful smile (I can’t help it, she’s beautiful) “thank you very much”. I smiled back and said “thank you!”. I left, drove away & I parked my vehicle and opened the clamshell the order came in. I am pleasantly surprised at what I see! The beef, rice, and macaroni salad look wonderful! I cannot wait to dive into this! The beef was still hot and very savory. The rice, firm and not soggy. The macaroni salad was creamy and still very cold. I have had other Hawaiian barbecue in San Diego area, but nothing like this. This is GOOD!!! so if you’re reading this, give Dalu a try. This place needs to stay in business because to me, they are THAT good. Definitely better than the competition down here. I took a a few of pictures to give a better description of what I saw along with the to-go menu. I will be returning to Dalu Hawaiian BBQ with my family as well as for Friday lunch a few times a month. To me, it’s that good and worth the price. I will definitely have to try the other items.

Google
Like my 12 year old said when he took his first bite of loco moco, " this place is fire!" Honestly Everything that we got was delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We ordered the loco moco, the katsu mix plate, spam musubis and the best aloha mix. You know just so we can try most of the food🤙.Oh and before i forget the horchata was better than you find in some Mexican restaurants, i hate to say it but it's true. To all of you wanting Hawaiian food, don't go anywhere else you've found your spot. You won't regret it!

Justin

Google
Went there with my fiance. The staff was very nice but the food was pretty bad. Got the Pineapple Chicken Bowl, Pineapple Beef Burger, and lumpia. The chicken was overly sweet and tasted like Panda Express Orange Chicken. The burger was just a regular burger with a slice of pineapple on it. And the lumpia was very plain. Nothing special. The food was very similar to what you would get at the fair.

Yelp
I just randomly pulled up this place online because it was near my moms house. It did not disappoint at all. Its a much more flavorful and taste much more fresh than L&L bbq. We will be back plus the customer service waa great and it didn't take long for our food to come out. We got the teriyaki plate and a side of garlic chicken. THAG GARLIC CHICKEN IS A MUST TRY

Yelp
My visit: 1/28/25 430pm Parking - This restaurant is located in a shopping center that isn't overly crowded and a little away from the noise which makes parking very easy and plentiful. Atmosphere - The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. It's very simple but lively, inviting and warm. It's got an interesting balance of stimulating yet comforting. I especially loved the art and I happened to be lucky enough to come when the restaurant was empty and quiet. It's very spacious and has plenty of seating. Cleanliness- This restaurant appears to be very clean. All the tables were wiped clean, no trash on the ground, all counter tops neat and clear. Food - The presentation was so nice. The food was solid, very tasty. I really enjoyed my "best aloha mix" plate. Portions were also good. Drinks - I asked about the drinks I was told the options are fountain drinks, bottled drinks, beer & wine. I had the pineapple drink which was fine. Service - They're service is superb. So friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. So attentive & polite. Someone said in their review that the owner is "desperate" to find what works. If an owner of a restaurant is eager to please and being proactive to finding the best approach to run their business, that's the place I want to go to. Price- The prices of the dishes can be considered pricey but they are really not. We live in San Diego, we have inflation, they are not charging any more or less than other places, they are very reasonably priced for where we live and what you receive. Top Pros - Relaxing, Welcoming & Yummy. Cons - I saw one fly and it pestered me for about 5 minutes. That's it. Overall impression - I read about 20-30 reviews (perhaps more) before I came in. That includes every negative review and all I can say if they were true when written, they are definitely not true today. I'm very happy i gave this local business a chance, and they will have my business from here on out. I will let my family, friends & acquaintances know to come here as well. Topics not covered- Dessert & Facilities (but i did see they have a restroom available for customers)

Yelp
I visited Dalu Hawaiian BBQ recently and was pleasantly surprised. I have wonderful experiences with Hawaiian food on the islands, here in town, and with my Hawaiian friends. I consider myself a pretty good judge of Hawaiian cuisine, especially being a Haole. The item I got here was the Best Aloha Mix and my wife got the Pineapple Fried Chicken. The Aloha Mix is Kalbi ribs, teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken, served with 2 generous portions of rice and some of the best Hawaiian mac salad I've had anywhere. All of the meat was cooked to perfection, especially the chicken. The teriyaki was a 7 out of 10 flavor wise. It was enough for two to share, but when it's this good, you're on your own. The real surprise here was the Pineapple Fried Chicken. Tons of flavor but not overbearing on any level. Just enough pineapple and garlic to make you keep digging in. Save a couple of bucks and get the mini plate on the value meal. Plenty of food for even the biggest appetite. The service we received from my new friend Luis was impeccable. We will most assuredly be returning soon.

Yelp
The kalua pig with cabbage?!?!?! Cmon now! It is delicious! The portion sizes were enough to share. It feels like this could be located beachside with how chill the vibe was and they were setting up for live music. The staff are super cool and friendly! Loved it!!!
google avatar

Tammy R.

Yelp
Cute spot, very colorful, clean, lively music playing on the speakers very polite workers. Did was excellent, served well, and full of flavor and right amount of flame and sweetness to all the meats. Took me back to Waikiki sitting having my bbq lunch while enjoying the beach. Truly with the drive and enjoying every morsel.

Yelp
Eaten here via takeout multiple times and man, is this place goooood!! We always get the teriyaki chicken plate with extra macaroni and rice! 10/10 good! Customer service is always awesome too!

Yelp
Was craving Hawaiian food and thought I'd check out this place nearby. Ordered the garlic shrimp plate the first time around. Ono ( delicious) garlic shrimp accompanied by two scoops of white rice and macaroni salad. I actually like the garlic shrimp. The Mac salad was ok kind of bland. Returned a week later to let my husband try it out and he ordered the Teriyaki Beef, chicken and short rib plate . We also ordered the breaded fish plate to explore our options. Well... kinda disappointed. The teriyaki beef place was ok. It's suppose to be the most popular on the menu. The sauces seemed off. The breaded fish was ok as well. I'm wondering if it was cause we showed up later in the evening. Who knows. Anyway, at least I enjoyed the garlic shrimp.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this new Hawaiian BBQ place in Rancho Sandiego. I had the Kalua Pork spinach wrap that came with a generous amount of shredded pork, some white rice, lettuce, tomatoes, and a side of creamy chipotle sauce. The pork was tender and quite tasty but a little heavy on the salt. They put a very good amount of the pork inside the wrap. I definitely appreciated that there was more pork than rice. If you like to sauce it up, they offer a variety of sauces. The tomatoes were fresh, and I recommend they chop up the lettuce a little better for ease of eating. The lady at the counter was very nice. They have plenty of inside seating and a tiki bar as well.
google avatar

Rosanna B.

Yelp
The food is quick service style and tasty enough. I'd say it's more Hawaii fusion or inspired than full authentic. They do offer a nice variety of dishes. The service is friendly and it was not busy with many places to sit on a Saturday afternoon. I also like it is different food cuisine option in Rancho San Diego. I would return.
google avatar

Yelp
Recently ordered from door dash and it's the best Hawaiian BBQ I've had in San Diego. The chicken was charred to production the ribs juicy and delicious. I 1000% recommend this place. I will be ordering again and you should too if you want good quality food!
google avatar

Isamar R.

Yelp
I loveee Hawaiian food, I'm so happy to find a new spot in San Diego!! Teriyaki short ribs were big, thick and full of flavor. I got the short rib plate that came with macaroni salad and white rice, mac salad was a bit on the runny side nonetheless delicious. Great portions!! Seaweed was a little soggy on the spam masubi but also just as good! I would 100% come again!!
google avatar

Jackie B.

Yelp
Didn't even realize this new restaurant opened and much needed may I say. There's no L&L near by. And I would have to say it even tastes better than L&L. And holy crap the portion is GENEROUS. I mean heck, we ordered two Aloha BBQ mixed (chicken, beef & 2 ribs) and one Teriyaki Chicken plate felt like it weighed about a 5 lbs each. Comes with 2 scoops of rice and scoop of macaroni salad. BBQ were perfectly charred. I also ordered spam musubi - YUMMY! Inside is super cute. A lot of different sitting options and it has a bar area say WHAT?! and I saw they have Malasadas. Definitely trying that next time. So EXCITED for this joint. If you're thinking about it - don't! Just come on by.
google avatar

Gerald B.

Yelp
Food was really good and the setting inside is cool. Friendly staff. The teriyaki sauce in the squeeze bottles are HEATED in a baby bottle type of warmer... so awesome! Has a bar and serves beer as well!

Yelp
We always drive by this place and it smells so good! So we decided to try it! I'm so glad that I did! Because the food is amazing!! The service is also amazing! I was overwhelmed with all the choices and had a hard time narrowing a couple to try. I was glad that customer service is amazing, and they are informative with describing the different dishes. The place is pretty big with plenty of seats! It really looks like it's a local hangout! The food is soo good! I got the katsu and spam musubi. My daughter got the Kalua pork. We both enjoyed our food. The pork is so tender and flavorful. The katsu is very crunchy and delicious. The musubi is a very good size. We will be back to try more items!! All the food that we've tried is delicious

Yelp
This place is really on point for size to cost ratio , fast easy and pretty dam tasty , my favorite to go spot in rancho Fosho

Yelp
I definitely recommend trying Dalu Hawaiian bbq. This new restaurant is amazing. We ordered a mini plate of teriyaki ribs, a regular plate of Korean BBQ chicken, a 5 piece or lumping, musubi, an order of Malasadas ,and a cheesecake. Everything was delicious, with great portions and a decent price. The restaurant has a chill hawaiian vibe with hawaiian reggae music playing. The cashier Sharleen was very friendly and answered any queations we had. We will definitely be coming back here again.

Yelp
Tried the combo plate, teri chicken, and pork with cabbage. Overall experience i think that this is a good spot for an island craving. I think they could improve by providing different sauce options for each meal. The pork would definitely benefit from a semi sweet tangy sauce.
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
If you want great Hawaiian food in the East County, look no further as this place has it! The Kalua Pig is excellent and the Teriyaki Chicken is delicious. Even though it's not posted on the menu you can opt to get a two meat combo if you order a regular plate (it costs a couple of dollars more than if you ordered a single meat plate). They also have a value menu which includes a fountain drink. My only complaint was the macaroni salad which is rather bland. Portions are large and the staff could not be nicer. There also appears to be a full bar on site. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
google avatar

Pks L.

Yelp
I'm so glad we found this place. Every time we have purchased it's been good in comparison to an L&L. We have had lau lau, beef ribs, mac salad, beef and chicken teriyaki and malasadas! YUM!
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Below average at best. I rate it 2.5 stars overall. This was our first time. We ordered Chicken Katsu, Garlic Shrimp and Teri beef. First the teri beef. No sweetness in the beef marinade. Salty and tastes like its only marinaded in soy sauce. Not even Shoyu which is what Hawaiians use and has sugar/sweetness. 1/3 of my beef was fat!!!! See pictures The Chicken Katsu was over cooked and the Katsu had no salt. Also they did not provide Katsu sauce!!!! The Garlic shrimp was just a simple basic shrimp sauted w jarred minced garlic. The shrimp should have fried scallions w chunks of fried garlic. The Mac Salad didnt have apple cider vinegar in it! Bland/plain. Had sooo much hope for this place, but was disappointed! No Poi no Lomi, no Haupi, no long rice etc. this is not "Hawaiian Food" Most other Hawaiian Plate Lunch places in San Diego are much better! For the average person this place may be ok. But being Hawaiian, my family will not be returning!

Lukas P.

Yelp
Another great Hawaiian spot! Love places like this, reminds me of my trip to Hawaii a few years back. Great food and service
google avatar

Cris H.

Yelp
I really enjoy Hawaiian food and there are not many options in east county. The food was so good. Great options. Casual place but does serve alcohol. I had their pulled pork with cabbage and it was so good!
google avatar

Matthew D.

Yelp
Dalu does it RIGHT! Food is in good proportion, priced right, and downright ONO DELICIOUS!! Transported to Oahu every time I eat their food! Great job on the food! I see they are constantly making changes to the decor to match the Hawaiian vibe- the Hawaiian music is RIGHT ON TARGET!
google avatar

Joshua D.

Yelp
The food came out so fast when I was here it was Monday at 2 o'clock. Juan is very nice and friendly. It's delicious and very affordable. It's fresh. The color of the Katsu sauce is a little bit different but the flavor is still there are and the chicken Katsu delicious no Happy Dad yet so I got a glass of water. It is better to pay cash instead of having to pay the $.85 fee for credit card use But the place is great has island vibesalready. The ambiance is set by up beat music coming from the bar. A lot of good food for the price.
google avatar

Tito R.

Yelp
Bomb ass food! Ordered the Teri beef, katsu, musubi, Korean chicken and everything was so good. This puts LNL to shame!! Honestly this is probably the only real local plate lunch style food we've ever had in this area. I can't wait to go back. BTW they remodeled from when it was a Mexican restaurant and now it has a full on bar to watch games!!! I love this place
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
This place just opened up and I was excited to try it since L&L is not close by and I appreciate the diversity of food available. I was surprised by the amount of food that came in this mini plate, I could only finish 1/3 -1/2 of the meal. The macaroni salad was great and the chicken had good flavor. Sometimes I just need tasty meat and rice and this satisfies that craving. It still has a lot of the Mexican food decor and I'm hoping they'll do more internal decor renovating to make it have a more authentic feel but since they just opened, I didn't have a strong expectation for the details. The server was nice and attentive. I will definitely come back to try some different meals to see how they hold up. The pricing is also decent as I could only finish half and it makes a second meal. I would say it's slightly lower than L & Ls pricing
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
Best Hawaiian food in San Diego in my opinion and I've tried all the spots from here to OC. My family is from Hawaii and it taste very similar to my families kalbi recipes. Good portions for the price and friendly service.
google avatar

Ayana H.

Yelp
Food quality was good , the best thing was the service . I'd give it a overall 7.5/10. The Mac was a 5/10, kalbi short rib 8/10, and chicken was 8/10.
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
Went to Dalu tonight with my family to get some takeout. I decided to try something different- the Kalua pig wrap- because I wanted something lighter than the plate I normally order. I really liked it, it was just the right size (a large wrap), wasn't too busy with ingredients/toppings, and it was nice to have something a bit easier to eat during a movie night. I also ordered a double side of macaroni salad because I like it left over. :-) very good as always. Can't recommend enough :-)

Peter N.

Yelp
Always friendly and kind staff. Love the food. a couple dollars more than the other Hawaiian joints but well worth it.
google avatar

Torreon T.

Yelp
Hella Good?, Good service, Good food! & been there twice already! I had the Katsu Plate or the mixed plate with Katsu & Beef!
google avatar

Anne M.

Yelp
Wow! Delicious Hawaiian food in our neighborhood so glad this is close to home. We enjoyed this place when it was David's Mexican food but it looks like they're getting so much more business being the only Hawaiian spot in this area. You've got to come check it out. Service with a smile and not an attitude! Bring the family here because they have the space to accommodate. We came for date night but next dinner will be family night.
google avatar

Whitney L.

Yelp
Suuuuper excited to see Hawaiian food in El Cajon. Suuuuuper sad no poi, lomi, or haupia. I'll check back to see if yall get the real deal foods eventually
google avatar

Debbie R.

Yelp
We ordered the 4-6 ono pkg. it comes with Kalua pork, bbq chicken, katsu chicken, rice and Macaroni salad. The portions were generous and it was fresh when we picked it up. The food was delicious and perfect for our family get together. 100 perfect will order again!
google avatar

Chrissy C.

Yelp
My work loves to do lunch orders from here. I haven't had one bad thing yet! My personal favorites include pork lumpia, value meal teriyaki bowl, & mini plate of garlic chicken. The one time I had something wrong with my order, they ensured it was fixed & with pleasure. I appreciate their customer service and great food.
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
It's like L&L, but better! We met a guy from Hawaii and he said this was the best place in SD for Hawaiian food, it did not disappoint! I got the teriyaki chicken plate and it was amazing. Huge portion (I got 2 meals out of it) the chicken was marinaded perfectly, 2 scoops of rice, & amazing Mac salad. The quality seemed better than other places we've tried. Hubs got the mixed plate with chicken katsu, short ribs and he loved it.
google avatar

Tony A.

Yelp
Well, I definitely would have to say since you're exactly the same as the other person your food is way too expensive. Your food is not that good. In fact I thought it was from you know the other place that sells Hawaiian food must be a prior employee because yeah, not good would not recommend.
google avatar

Ernest B.

Yelp
My wife loves this place and swears up and down that it's better than L&L which I think is a compliment. I am not a fan of Hawaiian food but I tried moco loco at work so I had that here and it was pretty good. The staff is friendly which is good. My only suggestion would be to show pictures of what the food things are cause I have no clue what everything is. I would never have tried moco loco had I already not tried it before based just on the name. Or at least have descriptions of what things are.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
SO GOOD SO GOOD SOOOOOO GOOD! What a treat it is to have really really good Hawaiian BBQ so close to home. The plates are HUGE. The meat is tender, juicy and super flavorful. The Mac salad is creamy and cool, a nice refreshing addition to the plate. The lumpia are good, sometimes they run out so if you're strictly going for that, call ahead. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is coming along nicely and is comfortable for dining in. Because we live so close we've usually gotten our food to go. Craving a bulgogi plate in the worst way but it's 11:51am and those nice people are off work! Thanks for the great meal and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Bri S.

Yelp
Was excited to see a new Hawaiian spot! but sadly, the food was not ono! got the korean chicken & this was NOT korean chicken! first of all, it was made with breaded chicken chunks. probably pre-frozen from restaurant depot. but the sauce is where they really went wrong. it was sooo spicy it was unenjoyable. they used the right chili, thai chilis, but they also used chili oil, it was gross. i had to drown it in their bottled teriyaki sauce to wash off all the spice. the mac salad was pretty decent. could pass as a local hawaiian recipe. could use some salt & pepper but at least they used best foods mayo. atmosphere was ok but only because they had maoli playing on the tv. price was not worth it either but i get it, the cost of everything, went up. if im feeling homesick & hungry for a plate lunch, i won't be coming here katsu's & musubi's may be on the menu, sadly the recipe & quality is far from hawaiian
google avatar

Jeff D.

Yelp
Quick, friendly service. Outstanding food, huge portions. I got the Aloha mixed plate and all three meats were delicious.

Lowry F.

Yelp
Found this place before going to a movie. I love the chicken katsu, perfect texture and flavor!!! The ambiance is great because they have live music on fridays when I've come here. Portion sizes are great as well.
google avatar

Nehemiah L.

Yelp
The food is good, I got a side of spicy poke and, a katsu chicken plate which was good to.
google avatar

Gigi K.

Yelp
The service is great. Don't go if you're expecting authentic Hawaiian food. Got the katsu mix plate to try a variety of foods. Ribs had a nice flavor, chicken katsu was very good. Katsu sauce meh. Mac salad was soupy. Very clean! Gave it 3 stars
google avatar

Larry J.

Yelp
This little slice of Hawaii is very special. The decor transports one to Waikiki just minutes from the International Marketplace!!!! I've eaten here three times this week. Katsu, teriyaki, and spam and eggs hit the spot. Loved the friendly staff. Aloha!!!
google avatar

Jolee G.

Yelp
The food is fantastic, same as if you were in Hawaii! Bets L&L !!!! They had a band there on Friday night, if was just a great time, kids even had a great time.

J J.

Yelp
This food was so good ! My toddler who is extremely picky ate the whole plate wand wanted more !!! I'm definitely coming back and trying other plates.

Yelp
This little gem of a Hawaiian restaurant has delicious food. Choose anything on the menu. They even serve LMB (Little Miss Brewing) to top it off as a nice compliment to your meal! Juan always provides great service. Happy hours 3-6. It's 5 o'clock somewhere!
