Not Worth the Hype
My husband and I drove from Burbank on a Friday night just to try this shawarma spot, and unfortunately, we were really disappointed. We ordered the beef shawarma wrap (extra pickles) and a side of fries. We waited about 45 minutes, which we didn't mind at first -- we figured the food must be great if it's that busy.
When the fries finally came out, they had clearly been sitting on the counter for a while -- cold, hard, and flavorless. Seasoned fries should be warm and fresh, but these tasted like something frozen and reheated.
We were still excited to try the wraps, but as soon as my husband opened the bag, and took a bite, I could tell from his face it wasn't good. The beef was dry and completely tasteless, with no spices, no juiciness, and no flavor at all. It was just plain beef with a ton of onions and cilantro. We asked for pomegranate sauce, which helped a little, but it still didn't fix how dry it was. I eventually tried adding garlic sauce, and while that made it slightly better, it was too late -- the wrap just wasn't enjoyable.
The seating situation didn't help either. There's nowhere to sit inside, it's cramped, and the place is wedged between a smelly international store and a laundromat.
To top it off, service was minimal, and we noticed an older man walking in and out of the kitchen wearing the same gloves, touching things outside, and then going back to assemble food without changing them -- not a good look for cleanliness.
Overall, this place is not worth the 5-star reviews. The food was dry, flavorless, and poorly handled. We left disappointed and won't be coming back.
