I always enjoyed the pizza from the original Damenzo’s on Taylor St so I was thrilled to have one open within walking distance. They did a beautiful job creating the space here. One side for carry-out and one side for the bar and sit down dining. We were told the beautiful bar is from the legendary former La Luce restaurant on Lake St and the marble that makes up the table tops is from the old Marshall Fields. I like the history of that and it looks great. There’s an excellent selection of beers on tap including my favorite, Bell’s Two Hearted Ale. For me the star is the thin crust pizza, we’ve had it many times since they’ve opened and it hasn’t disappointed us once. I love it! It’s delicious. We usually get a sausage, pepper and onion or a spinach and onion. I always ask for the spinach and onion well done wherever I order one from because pizza with only veggies tend to come under cooked in my opinion. It definitely compares favorably to other neighborhood pizza spots. The sauce is slightly sweet with good fennel flavor and there’s ample cheese. The sausage is very tasty they don’t skimp on the toppings. Haven’t tried much if the other food but did have a chicken burrito and a couple of steak tacos and thought they were pretty good. Have had the Tiramisu for dessert and found it creamy and delicious and reasonably priced. The service has always been prompt and friendly. I’m glad they’re here and I hope they’re here for a long, long time!

Fantastic place to bring the family. Food was good and staff was friendly. We can't wait to go again!

I went for there soft opening and the pizza was delicious! The atmosphere and decor was also very nice. I understand they just opened up so they weren’t fully staffed at the time and some were still training. However, I do highly recommend this place. They also have a huge variety of things to chose from on the menu, unlike Phil’s. So for those who haven’t tried it have an open mind and try it; and for those who have and were disappointed, or not, give them another chance in a few weeks when they are settled in. I can promise you that I’ll be back!

This place started great when they opened, and have gone downhill consistently since then. The food quality is not consistent, sometimes it is good and sometimes it is inedible. I received a burger completely blackened and I could not eat it. The prices keep rising and the food quality in general is going down. Plus, now you can’t pay with credit under $20, which is ridiculous. As others have said, their posted hours do not match with when they actually close. The only thing that is moderately worth going for is the $5 slices of pizza, which are usually very good. Once the price of that rises I will absolutely stop going. Very disappointed overall.

Clean dining area. Options were air down or order from counter. We ordered from counter. Had the lasagna and maxim steak with rice and beans. Both dishes were very very tasty. The lasagna wasn't too heavy on sauce. The Mexican steak was spicy as it should be. Another customer had a slice of pizza he said it was very good. The slices ate huge!!!! We will come back and try other items of the menu. There are Italian dishes and Mexican dishes.

I don't do reviews, but I'm literally 2 slices in on this $28 large, thin crust, 3 topping pizza and it's one of the worst I've had in my life. They're charging premium prices to skimp on toppings, flavorless cheese, and crust that tastes precisely like communion. We were excited to have a spot close by that isn't cash-only (looking at you, Phil's), but compared to this you're better off ordering from Domino's.

Walked in and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful atmosphere. We were very excited after seeing this place opening up, as we live nearby and would love to have another great place to eat in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, as we walked in it was clear that the staff had very little understanding of what they were doing. There were several workers at the counter, none of which acknowledged us until several minutes of awkwardly standing watching them as they talked amongst themselves or just not focusing on the line of people building up. Eventually one man asks what we want, two slices of pizza. As he puts them in the oven to warm up there's a crowd of people building by the register and we wait for somebody to look at us again since there were still other things we wanted to order. A minute or so later the same guy comes back up to us and just looks at me, so I tell him I want some breaded mushrooms. He then turns around to get them. A woman then asks if we have already ordered and we say yes, and so she turns away to talk to somebody else. We stood waiting for the guy but he didn't come back, so we went to sit down. Eventually I see him walking out from the back holding the mushrooms in his hands.... To then throw in the deep fryer.... Why he took so long in back, or why he was carrying them all that way from the freezer to the very front is unknown to me... Then eventually our pizza is called out, I walk to to grab it and the guy who called out our pizza is just staring at the guy who took our order, while I just wait there for somebody to just give us our food, finish taking our order, and to let us pay. Slowly he walks over, grabs the food and walks back to the register. At the register is now a woman who yells to a customer behind us, and interrupts the guy taking our order to cash the other customer out... We wait and eventually pay and go sit down. Additionally, the same person who was taking our order also was working the register for us, even though he was handling our food will his bare hands. We were given everything in to-go containers because nobody asked us if we wanted to dine in or eat out.The breaded mushrooms were good, but for such a beautiful restaurant I was expecting fresh, not frozen. The pizza was not fully heated and the dough was way too thick. Decent prices for the food size, but horrendous service and the food didn't really fit the quality of the presentation the restaurant. There seems to be a lot of disconnect between staff, menu, and the vision. Very disappointed.

Food was good, for the most part. The worst part is waiting an hour for fried chicken pieces and living nearby. Calling and being told that it was going to be half an hour’s wait, I was fine with it. However, my food was only starting to be cooked —seemingly— once I arrived there. The staff are nice but it annoyed me to have my food only being cooked when I get there even when I called ahead. At one point when I opened one of my orders, there was an unexpected spillage of oil everywhere within the bag that was hidden with another bag. With that being said, I will still be ordering again— just not as frequently as I used to.
