LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"If you also miss Paris—or at least Emily in Paris—this West Adams cocktail bar might help. The space looks has a vintage Parisian lounge feel with chandeliers and candlelit booths, and it’s already a burgeoning celeb hot spot that’s hosted an Oscars afterparty. On a normal night, you’ll find fruity cocktails like the Embraser with persimmon liqueur and plum, plus not-so-French snacks like grilled cheese and chicken tenders." - cathy park

Damn, I Miss Paris - Review - West Adams - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The most French thing about Damn, I Miss Paris is the server who says “bon appetit” when setting a grilled cheese down on your table. This sexy lamp-lit cocktail bar in West Adams was clearly dreamt up by an interior designer who has a thing for Paris (there are murals of the Eiffel Tower and people dancing on cobblestone streets), but that’s about as literal as the theme gets. The food is a mix of clubstaurant basics and high school lunchroom hits, so unless you’re desperately in need of chicken tenders and fries, skip to the superb classic cocktails—like the spot-on shaken martini with tiny ice chips. That said, most people are coming to DIMP (our acronym, not theirs) for the scene rather than to eat. After hours, the velvet booths tend to fill with hot, well-dressed people filming multiple takes of glass clinks for IG, and while half the room can probably tell the difference between Loewe and Lanvin, an evening here is far from Paris Fashion Week-level pretentious. The energy is upbeat but chill, with dates bobbing their heads and mouthing the lyrics to Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson. Come for a bubbly night out with people who don't mind socializing—even if that just means trying some French phrases picked up from Duolingo when the bartender hits you with a ça va? photo credit: Cathy Park" - Cathy Park

How a Restaurant Family Celebrates Chinese New Year | Bon Appétit

"A cocktail bar launched by the same family group that complements their restaurants; it features family involvement on staff (with Coltrane working as server and bartender) and plays into Humberto’s event and design programming tied to the group’s hospitality ventures." - ByElyse Inamine

Stopped in unexpectedly at the top of their opening hour. The doorman greeted us both with a warm welcome. Being the first customers to arrive we were greeted with a cheerful welcomes from behind the bar. I first noticed the touches of elegance in furnishings and wall art work. The decorum was suede textures and dark walnut woods. The mural was jazzy illustrations of dance, cool moves and sensual music. The vibe and music brought on an immediate desire to dance. It was an added effort to refrain from stepping into hip hop groove fashion. Why? I just wanted to take in the moment of discovering this hidden gem of a hideaway. 😁 I was in my happy place and my husband and I hadn’t yet made it to the bar! We had our bartender make recommendations and we ended up ordering two drinks and their warmed pretzel as a snack. My husband loved his drink so much he ordered a second. Each drink on the menu is a personal concoction from its designated bartender. These flavors and notes in my drink revealed that our lovely bartender Jordan was an experienced mixologist!!! We were thrilled to find this gem of a cocktail lounge on such a whim! We will definitely be back! Thank you to our lovely hosts! And “Damn, I Miss Paris”

Francisco took great care of me!! Along with Eljay, and another barback, tall guy with curly hair I forgot his name. They created a great vibe for me and the folks in there! Thanks for showing me a great time

My husband and I were excited to try this bar, but our experience was ruined by an incredibly rude waitress. The doorman was very welcoming, allowing us to choose our table, but the waitress then told us we couldn’t sit where we wanted, even though it wasn’t reserved. To make matters worse, she allowed another couple to sit there without any issue. Her attitude was very rude and left us feeling unwelcome. Thankfully, she finished her shift at 7 PM, and we were served by a much nicer staff member, but by then, we were just about ready to close our bill. This place has potential, but management needs to address the attitude of that waitress; otherwise, they risk losing customers.

I highly recommend Damn I Miss Paris. The bartenders, wait staff, and the gentleman at the front door were so helpful. I just had a glass of wine, but my friends were enjoying the food and said it was good.

Okay so the vibe is adorable and I like the energy, however for it to be a cocktail bar, I think it’s odd that they don’t have any signature cocktails. It’s literally just ur average joe negroni, old fashioned, paloma etc. on the menu. They tasted totally fine, no complaints about the drink taste, but I feel like I usually go to a dedicated cocktail bar to get to try a more interesting drink, so that was disappointing. Also this is incredibly nit picky of me, but for a bar with a french theme, the only french thing about it was some of the wallpaper and them denoting normal fries as “pomme frites”. Like, the food menu was classic american bar food — chips and dip, chicken tenders etc. All in all, the service and atmosphere were great but I just think it’s disappointing theme wise and boring. I don’t see it competing for long with the LA cocktail bar scene unless they occupy a niche and make more interesting cocktails.

Yelp
I stopped by this bar mid-week for a drink with my boyfriend, and it is gorgeous. I love the decor--it's even prettier in person! The customer service is amazing, and the playlist is fantastic. We both enjoyed our cocktails and I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Finally! West Adams has a chic cocktail lounge that rivals anything in LA. Soho House vibes would be an accurate depiction because the aesthetic is second to none. Right next to the boutique Alsace Hotel. First heard about this on a neighborhood FB group. Been open less than a month. Went in at midnight on a Friday and it was like a night-out scene on HBO's "Insecure"--people were having the time of their lives dancing amidst a gorgeous backdrop in a beautiful space. No stuffy, conceited, or pretentious attitudes here--just decently priced cocktails ~$20 and ample street parking. Ample seating and a drink rail along the wall for standing room only so you feel accommodated no matter what. Justin was the head bar tender and made us feel incredibly welcome. Joel was the doorman and provided a warm welcome whilst Justin, the head bar man, was a consummate craft cocktail maker. Lots of free after hours street parking too. This place was far and away desperately needed for the hottest up-and-coming neighborhood in Los Angeles. Can't wait to go back!
