LA’s New Restaurant Openings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"One of our favorite matcha spots in Koreatown has expanded with a second location in the Arts District. This one has the look of an industrial loft with white brick walls, stone counters, and lots of potted greenery. The menu is mostly the same, with matcha lattes, einspänners, tonics, and Korean tea snacks, but now with way more room to hang out." - cathy park

The Best Matcha Lattes in Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Damo is a quiet, modern cafe that treats tea like an art, with a bunch of loose leaves on display at their counter. While they offer a full Korean tea service with porcelain teapots and an hourglass, most people are here for einspanners (a.k.a. cream-topped lattes). The hojicha version is fantastic, but the earthy-rich matcha one dusted with an extra boost of powder is no slouch, either. There’s even matcha with chocolate cream if you’re the chocolate-over-vanilla type." - cathy park

Damo - Review - Koreatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Damo is a quiet, modern cafe that treats tea like an art, with a bunch of loose leaves and ceramics on display at their counter. While they offer a full Korean tea service with porcelain teapots and an hourglass, most people are here for einspanners. Their hojicha one is a winner, but cream-topped matcha dusted with more matcha powder is where Damo shines brightest. The South Korean Coffee Culture Wave Hits LA | Eater LA

"I noticed long lines outside this Koreatown spot that opened at the end of 2022 and quickly developed a cult following for its Einspänner drinks; founder Ted Nam intentionally worked to capture the trendiness of cafes in Korea and emphasizes meticulous attention to detail. The matcha Einspänner and hojicha Einspänner are particular hits, featuring the velvety espresso-and-thick-whipped-cream profile adapted from the classic Viennese Einspänner, and many visitors venture to Koreatown just to try them. Beyond viral coffee culture, the drinks program includes a classic Korean tea service—porcelain teapots, teacups, a tea bowl, and an hourglass to measure steep time—served with an assorted platter of traditional Korean snacks and a chewy rice cake waffle made with mugwort and a side of cream." - Cathy Park

Google
DAMO is another solid tea and coffee house in K town that is a must try… I really like how their matcha duo thingy isn’t too sweet and u can taste more of the matcha instead of sugar/milk side of things. I know they have other great drinks that are also tea based. Kind of a hard place to get work done since it’s pretty small and also parking is horrendous here. Recommend just street parking in the neighborhood and walking over

Google
Overrated Matcha Spot We visited Damo because it is famous for its matcha, but honestly, it was a disappointment. First, parking is a big problem — even though there is a small lot in front, it’s almost always full. Then comes the long line: we had to wait around 30 minutes (15–20 minutes outside in the heat, plus another 10–15 minutes inside). For just a cup of matcha, that’s too much. They should really add more staff on weekends to speed things up. The matcha itself was very underwhelming. We ordered the strawberry matcha, but by noon most other flavors were already sold out. The drink tasted plain and watery, with too much ice. The strawberry pieces at the bottom were cut too big — impossible to drink with the regular straw. Instead of being well blended, it felt like we were eating fruit salad inside a drink. Honestly, this was one of the least enjoyable matcha drinks we’ve had in Los Angeles, even though we try new matcha places almost every weekend. The interior is extremely minimalistic — clean, but a bit too empty and cold, more like a waiting room than a cozy café. Not a big minus, but it doesn’t add to the experience. And it was too loud. Overall, the place feels overrated. The long wait and mediocre matcha are not worth it. We won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Google
I dined in around opening on a Wednesday morning and people watched the morning rush. The minimalist aesthetic was pleasing. The music playing was carefully curated. The drinks are gorgeous and the matcha I had tasted like matcha..with dark cocoa whipped cream topping. Decadent. The korean treats were so delicious and worth it. I look forward to trying the einspanner next time.

Google
Located in the Oxford Center plaza, great place to stop to get variety of matcha based drinks. There are also other teas and coffees available as well as pastries and other foods. Ordered the matcha latte and the iced strawberry matcha. They hand sift the matcha powder and infused it with a whipped milk topping or strawberry puree. Highly recommend the matcha latte. Not too overbearing matcha flavor. Parking is free and there are quite a bit of parking spots in this plaza. One of the few parking that is free in this area.

Google
I have mixed feelings. Overall solid latte and tea options, even though they are a little expensive. (Specialty drinks can run you $8-9). Also they have many specialty tea options as opposed to other k-town cafés that specialize in just coffee. The catch? As is common with most popular ktown spots, this location has limited interior space and parking - so you might end up fighting for your life just to put your order in. We went at 1pm on a Friday and it was packed. Overall it’s a local hot spot and has a very buzzy vibe. So if you’re down for a bustling location and mentally prepared to search for parking I’d recommend it overall. They clearly know what they’re doing when it comes to tea with all the specialty matcha gear you could ask for. I got the iced matcha latte which was good. Having said that, It wasn’t much different from other iced matches I’ve had in LA, but maybe I didn’t order the right thing. They also sell an einspanner matcha which has a cold foam top as opposed to just matcha and milk, so I’d try that next time. My personal favorite though was the einspanner latte. It’s smooth, lightly sweet and delicious. We also got the signature Dag-wa which is a tray of bite sized Korean snacks. They were good, lightly sweet and a fun treat to share. There is WiFi but you might have to time things right to get a table. If you want a calmer experience I would recommend getting there early. Overall the interior is very zen and they do a very nice job decorating. If we timed it better, we would try this spot again - especially if we wanted a specialty tea option.

Google
Yummy. Must get the strawberry matcha with strawberry cream. It was super busy inside and a wait on Sunday. There is a parking lot but some difficulty finding parking. Salt bread is in this space which also made it very busy. But definitely will go back for this specialty.

Google
I had the strawberry matcha einspanner. I love that the workers don’t stuff your cup with ice to the top!!! I really enjoyed my drink, the cream is not too sweet, just perfect. This is my second time at DAMO and my experience was nice as always. I’m not from LA, so every time I do visit I want to try going here again 😆. Of course there are other matcha places but I feel like DAMO brings out a lot of enriching flavors with their drinks.

Google
Absolutely love this place’s matcha drinks! I’ve tried matcha einspener and matcha strawberry and love both! I avoid going here on the weekend because of very long queue. Weekdays are much better! Not many seats available and very crowded.

Yelp
The matcha einspanner was solid! Thecream on top added just the right amount of sweetness and balanced it out perfectly. Honestly, I drink matcha so often that it's starting to all taste the same to me, but I did a little side-by-side with Stagger's matcha. Stagger's is less sweet and a bit more milky, with a noticeable matcha flavor that's not as strong or bitter compared to Memory Look's. I also tried a sip of the hojicha and it was decent but felt a bit watered down. The latte, though, was amazing, rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The workers were nice and pretty fast with service as well and the shop is cutely decorated. Very limited seating though so definitely not a study cafe since it gets busy. Definitely a good spot to try if you're a matcha lover!

Yelp
This is a decent place for coffee or matcha in the area. Parking is pretty easy and free. The line for the drinks might be long because there's only 1 cashier. There were 3 employees when we visited, so the drinks didn't come out super fast, but the quality was pretty good for the price. If given the choice between this place and others in the area, the parking, pricing, and quality of the drinks make this place an easy choice. I saw some people with their laptops here but the place can get kinda loud and crowded during peak times. The seats are also a bit close together so if you're claustrophobic, it might be better to hang out outside.

Yelp
Chill spot with minimalist interior. Some inside seating but all of it is uncomfortable. They have some pretty cool options on the menu (especially low caffeine) so that's definitely nice. This is the place to go if you just want to stop by briefly for a matcha or other silly drink, but I wouldn't come here specifically for coffee. Americano - more bitter than I'd like. Their Americano is expensive considering it's just espresso with water. I feel like they just serve coffee out of expectation but the other drinks r actually what you should order Cold brew einspanner - cream was nice and rich. Delicious addition to the cold brew, which was also a little bitter Private parking lot, I've seen valet here at night but it wasn't here when we came during the day. Drinks came out pretty quick during non-rush, and baristas were sweet. I'll be back to try their matcha if I'm in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Yelp
Just the best matcha latte I've ever had!!! Seriously such high quality tasting matcha, it makes me want to go back to my other matcha reviews to adjust because this is the bar. My boyfriend likes to mix the cream in his drink, but I drink it as is so I still get that strong matcha flavor. They use ceremonial matcha and everything is made to order. Line can be long because of its popularity. Some seats inside and I noticed some people bring their laptops to study/do work, but it isn't a necessarily quiet environment.

Yelp
This place was so packed! But the staff did an amazing job keeping the line moving and the wait times short. Although I waited about 10 minutes for my coffee, time went by pretty quick. The cafe overall is very clean, aesthetically pleasing to look at. Plenty of seating inside and they also have benches outside. 4 stars because it wasn't a mind blowing coffee. I ordered the vanilla bean einspanner and was not really impressed. There are definitely better coffee and einspanners in the vicinity. However, I do want to try this place again and get their matcha einspanners as well as try a few other items.

Yelp
I've heard about this place from multiple people and finally got the chance to stop by and try it. This aesthetic cafe is located in k-town conveniently in a plaza (with a parking lot!). I came on a Sunday at 9:30 and while all the tables were filled, the mass of people started coming around 10:30. I ordered their iced matcha einspanner/einspener which seems to be their most popular item and I can see why! The drink was delicious and not too sweet. My friends ordered their hojicha latter and she thought it was average compared to other locations.
google avatar

Yelp
I finally visited DAMO after hearing so many great things about it. It's tucked away in a small plaza with decent parking available. We ordered the hojicha and matcha einspanners, both of which were absolutely delicious. I was really looking forward to trying the mugwort waffles, but unfortunately, they were already sold out even though I arrived at 10 AM, which was a bit disappointing. However, I'll definitely be back on my next visit to give them another try. The service was decent, and the ambiance was charming. Overall, I'd recommend checking them out!

Yelp
I came here after my appt, for tea. They had, like a ceremonial tea, called Deukeum Green tea, which I've never had. It tastes like green tea but in a whole new level with the steps to brew within the sand timer in a bottle. And the set includes 3 different snacks: dried persimmon pieces, rice cake and persimmon butter walnut piece. Everything was delicious. I also ordered the Kouig Amann pastry warmed up. It was lightly sweetened and imo it tasted like a ought elephant ear pastry, but upscale. This was a great experience. They have other items, as well and I must come back for their coffee drinks and other pastry. Thanks Damo team for your kind service.

Yelp
The real paradise for tea lover! If you're either matcha or hojicha lover, Damo's surely not to miss, with their Matcha and Hojicha Einspanner were must-try's. Despite the price tag might be quite steep for the size, it was totally justifiable as you tasted how good the tea quality was. The cream top then made it perfect, balancing bold and umami tea flavor with a touch of creaminess. The space could be busy, just like typical popular cafe in Ktown, but order for to-go surely had decent waiting time. If you're explorative enough, you might wanna go for the assorted dak-gwa or Korean dessert samplers. I went only for the mochi alike one, which I completely skipped the name. It came in enjoyably chewy texture with delightful sweet and slightly bitter combo of flavors. I would call myself neither a tea huge-fan nor connoisseur, but surprisingly LOVE THIS PLACE!

Yelp
Definitely a top contender for best Matcha Einspanner in LA. It gets pretty packed here -- especially on weekends just given that the shop is relatively small. Yes, there is a line but it moves fairly quickly. During my last visit (Saturday morning), I waited in line for about 15 minutes and no more than 10 minutes for my drink. My go-to is the Matcha Einspanner with oat milk. By default, the drink is a bit sweeter than I prefer (overall flavor profile reminiscent of a matcha sponge cake). You can order with no syrup for a more matcha-forward drink though. The cream top here really stands out from others I've had. Light, creamy, and not too sweet. The best part is the first sip of the cream top and the matcha together after putting on the lid. There are plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot in front, but the parking availability is highly dependent on the time of day. Would recommend going at off-hours to secure a spot because there are limited options for parking otherwise. I was hoping that it wouldn't be worth the hype but it really does deserve the all the praise. Now I can't help but make a pit stop here whenever I drive through KTown.

Yelp
I've tried this boba place before but it has been a long time ever since! I ordered a Strawberry Matcha Latte and tasted solid! Give it a mix and you got yourself one of the best tasting Matcha's you ever have tried! The ambience at this location is so bright and lively. The location is in Koreatown so you'd expect a lot of company coming from the small shops in the plaza or tourists like me. I'd definitely come back and order the same drink!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely terrific Matcha in your typical LA mini-mall in K-town. Strong Matcha flavor, creamy feel even in the Matcha Latte. Nothing watered down. Very popular with tons of happy customers flowing in and out. Caution: Limited parking in the mall's parking lot. We ordered the Matcha Latte & Matcha Einspener. We've been to plenty of legit matcha places, but this one seems to top them all ! Get in line, make your order at the cashier, and they'll have your drink ready at the end of the counter in a couple of minutes. Efficient service. There are plenty of small round tables and chairs inside to sit and enjoy. counter seating along the windows too. Nice pair of wooden benches out in front too to savor your beverage! Yea.. definitely worth coming back to whenever we are in the area!

Yelp
Came by this past week due to the reviews (which looked great). I have to say, the hype is real. First, there is ample parking as DAMO is situated in a mini plaza/shopping center. A lot of other trendy locations do not have parking as easy as this location does. Secondly, the interior is so nice - it's very modern and fresh. Good amount of seating too! Finally, the service and drinks were great! Kind/efficient employees, we did not have to wait long to receive our order despite how busy it was. The iced matcha latte and strawberry matcha latte were phenomenal! Heads up, the drinks are not too sweet (we did not mind at all, and actually appreciated this). Would definitely come back to this establishment!

Yelp
First of all, I came because I saw them advertise the Chocolate Forest drink on their IG. However, the drink I received was lacking attention to detail - the powder was all over the rim, the matcha foam was overlapping parts of the choco foam . Overall, the presentation was messy compared to what they advertise. Next, the flavor of the matcha was bitter and the entire drink itself was mediocre in flavor. Lastly, the interior was MUSTY. They have poor circulation and on top of that they have a sign to keep their door closed. It was just very uncomfortable being inside in that temperature and mustiness. Their bathroom doesn't have a place to put your purse/bag. So it was difficult to use the bathroom as I had to hold onto all my belongings . Sadly, this is my second and last time coming to Damo. I thought I might have misjudged it the first time, but this second time was another let down.

Yelp
DAMO is so good! I loved how well they craft their drinks! I came in on a monday at noon and it was quite busy! There was a line and almost all the seats were occupied with customers. The cashier was a nice and tender girl who listened attentively while I was ordering and answered all my concerns. I had asked her for a regular ice matcha tea latte but then I decided to get the iced einspenor matcha that comes with white cream. She did answer my question about the sweetness of the matcha and she mentioned that they sweeten it with agave, I guess she saw I wasn't convinced so she suggested to make it less sweet and I trusted her judgement. I'm glad I did bc I ended up liking my drink. I will be coming back here soon especially since they have parking available which is crucial bc this place is located in the busy neighborhood of koreatown.

Yelp
Damo used to be home to my favorite matcha einspanner in LA, but suffice it to say other tea shops have taken its place in recent times. Parking is free if you can find it in their very crowded lot and there is almost always a line, so be prepared to wait for either or both. In the past I've enjoyed their flavored matcha tonics alongside their matcha and hojicha lattes and einspanners for their authentic taste, and their monochromatic minimalist interior is typical of the LA coffee shop stereotype. Seating, usually, is impossible as it is a popular study spot as well. On my most recent visit, the amount of yuzu syrup in my matcha tonic overpowered the taste I was looking for, and the cream top on my friend's matcha einspanner was disappointingly thinner than I remembered - the matcha itself was also sweeter than I like. I did try the mugwort rice cake waffle that came with a side of (thin :/) dipping cream with red bean and sunflower seeds that had a more complex herbal taste and was extremely chewy. Although I would recommend trying Damo at least once, I personally feel its consistency leaves a bit to be desired.
google avatar

Grace K.

Yelp
The best Einspanner I've had in SoCal. The person ringing up my order was super nice but I felt a little out of place. The interior was giving Gangnam and everyone there looked like they were in a cafe in Gangnam. Had I known, I would've dressed differently, less frumpy. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every single drop of my sweet cream floating on my iced matcha.

Yelp
I heard about this place online and decided I had to try it. It was so worth it!!! At the recommendation of the employee, I got the Matcha Einspener, which an iced drink with milk and cold foam/cream on top. This was absolutely delicious, especially if you like Matcha with a little bit of sweetness. I ended up getting a second one to go. I also got the pistachio saffron croissant and the cinnamon roll. Both of these were so flavorful and had such beautiful spices. The saffron and pistachio flavors really came through in the croissant, and I think I tasted cardamom in the cinnamon roll. Both of these pastries reminded me of Middle Eastern pastries, and I loved that. The shop has some indoor seating, and some limited seating outside. There are outlets available if you decide to get some work done. The ambience is pretty peaceful and casual, but the store can get pretty busy quickly and is on the smaller side, so there may be some crowds. There is a free parking lot available as well, but if you go during peak times, there might be a line and hard-to-find parking. I will definitely be back so that I can try their other drinks and pastries. This has to be my new favorite Matcha spot in West LA!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Love Damo so much! Not only are the coffees, teas & little food treats delicious, but the aesthetic inside the cafe is so beautiful. I have never had a bad latte from them, their staff are all so talented behind the barista bar. Definitely a must stop place in Ktown!
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
Really great high quality drinks, definitely not too sweet or milky/creamy. The Hojicha Einspanner is very tea forward compared to other spots. Just careful with parking, be prepared to walk as the parking lot is primarily valet. We went on a Tuesday night and parked on the street metered slots. There's also the neighborhoods nearby if you're lucky
google avatar

Priscilla L.

Yelp
High quality yummy drinks! Minimalistic and modern interior that takes me back to Korea's cafe culture. I'm usually not a huge matcha fanatic but this was the best matcha drink I've ever tasted - bold statement for sure. My friend is obsessed with matcha and knows way more than I do, and she really loved her matcha einspener. My hojicha einspener was perfection. The cream on top is absolutely chef's kiss. The perfect amount of tea and sweetness. I definitely want to come back for the same drinks but also would be excited to try other items. It was really crowded inside on a Friday evening. Every table was filled and people were working outside on the benches too. Free parking lot by the way. We were able to pull into a spot right away. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Gabrielle L.

Yelp
Damo is one of my favorite matcha spots! The atmosphere is modern and cozy, relaxing or working vibe. The matcha is top-notch -- rich, smooth. I ordered: Matcha Latte (my bf and I personal fave) Matcha Einspanner The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to recommend. DAMO is a must-visit for tea + matcha lovers. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Brenda Y.

Yelp
Hojicha Einspener: 1/5.. overrated in my opinion. It really was just tea and cream. I guess I was hoping for something more sweeter. Chestnut Einspener 5/5. I would definitely come back and recommend this if you're feeling something sweet and creamy.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Came here to do some work with a friend who needed to study on a weekday. We ordered the Hojicha latte with a shot of espresso along with a hot matcha and rice waffle. The drinks were delicious, not sweet, which is exactly to my liking, and served rather quickly. The rice waffle was a little underwhelming, but visually very appealing. I'd get it just to try it, but I don't think it's worth the price point. Parking is easy - it's a pretty large lot, especially for the koreatown area. Free parking! There was also decent seating available. We stayed for a few hours and saw people shuffle in and out. DAMO has its busy moments, but it's not overwhelming. Bathroom is pretty clean too! I think this is a great place to get some work done. It's not overly quiet, but not too distracting like a Starbucks. I recommend!
google avatar

Ryoung K.

Yelp
I got the matcha einspanner and it was perfectly sweet! You can adjust your sweetness level and there are milk alternatives that you can use if you're lactose intolerant. There aren't many seats inside and it's quite packed inside with people picking up a drink and heading out. Parking is very limited, difficult to find, so I suggest carpooling. Prices are OK, similar to many coffee/tea shops, nothing more than that. The workers are detailed in their drink presentation and make sure that the drinks taste great.
google avatar

Isabel B.

Yelp
damo is a go to coffee spot for me ktown! It's usually always packed especially on weekends as they serve a wide variety of premium/specialty coffees, teas, matcha and other drinks. The actual spot can get quite tight especially when there is a lot of people inside but it does have a good amount of seating available. 10/10 would recommend especially because they were open on Christmas Day!! Which is absolutely wild for the holidays. We thank you for your service!!
google avatar

Yelp
By far my favorite café in Southern California. The teas were amazing, but be prepared for long queues. The café is quite small, tucked into a tiny strip mall in K-Town. We visited twice and tried the mango cream matcha (which was a 10/10). The matcha was phenomenal, and the mango added a delightful twist. We also had the strawberry einspener, which was more like strawberry milk with cream and chunks of strawberry--both were delicious and tied for the best. The baristas were friendly, but finding a seat is definitely a challenge. Even with the wait, this café in the heart of Koreatown is well worth it and easily my favorite cafe that I have been to in a while.

Yelp
Great customer service, decor is minimal and modern which I like and the place was clean. However, it is super small but the parking lot is huge. The Matcha Einspener, Latte Einspener and Strawberry Einspener (forgot to take a picture of the Strawberry one) with Oatmilk are all great. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. The prices are super good for what you get. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
I was staying at my friend's place down the street and always saw a long line for DAMO. Curious, I finally walked over to try it out and loved my Hojicha Einspener (stirred Hojicha tea and Hojicha cream). Hojicha can be hard to find, so I was thrilled to see this offered here. Big fan!!!

Yelp
I tried this place from a recommendation from a friend. We haven't seen each other in a while and wanted to try a new coffee spot out. This friend always had great recommendations for food/drink places so i already knew that i would love it. And i was not disappointed at all. Today i tried out the Matcha Einspener from the baristas recommendation. It was a perfect blend of flavour and sweetness. I have had others similar and were way to sweet for my liking so this one was perfect. The ambiance is very clean modern minimilist. very viby/hipster. Some seeting but its not the most comfortable if you are looking to do work from here for along time.

Ashley V.

Yelp
Damo is my number one spot for matcha and hojicha. They always do it right. I can actually taste the matcha and hojicha flavors. Also, their strawberry matcha is soooo good! The cafe is pretty small so I usually just grab my drink and go. Service is good. Parking is pretty easy to find weekend mornings. I can't say what it's like on the weekdays.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
I don't understand all the hype about this place. I tried their mango cream matcha and the sweetness of mango made the matcha taste SHOCKINGLY bitter. I mixed the drink and the flavors just didn't blend well. Not sure if they made this drink intended to be enjoyed mixed or unmixed but it was bad either way. Went back to re-evaluate this place and ordered a simple iced matcha latte. I'm not a fan of sweet drinks but I think I would've liked it a tad bit sweeter and overall, it wasn't good enough to leave a positive review. I've had better matcha lattes. And they put so much ice in it and the price was steep. $7 for a full cup of ice.

Yelp
I visited Damo on a Saturday morning. While parking wasn't an issue for us, the limited spaces could pose a challenge during peak times. Despite a longish line, the wait time was manageable--5-10 minutes to order and another 5 minutes to receive our drinks. The store itself has a clean, sterile aesthetic but was very busy and crowded and felt stuffy because of poor ventilation. My group ordered five drinks in total. Chocolate Forest Quite pretty with cocoa and matcha powder sprinkled on top. However, the chocolate and matcha flavors clashed, and the matcha itself wasn't strong enough. Hojicha Einspener The Hojicha itself was disappointingly bland and weak, but the crema on top was delicious and very earthy although a tad too sweet. Cold Brew Vanilla Einspener Surprisingly acidic for a cold brew. The vanilla-infused cream helped balance it somewhat, but the acidity stood out too much even when mixing. You can definitely taste the vanilla and is also sweeter than the other creams which is definitly needed. Matcha Einspener Matcha was also not too strong on this one but Ive always prefered a very strong matcha flavor and it doesnt help that when drunk together, the crema definitly overpowered the matcha flavor itself too. The overall sweetness was good but would not recommend. Latte Einspener This was the best of the bunch. The crema was less sweet than the vanilla bean version and complemented the coffee well. It added a good sweetness and rounded out the flavors nicely. The coffee was still strong enough but the milk help to keep the drink from being too acidic or bitter. I would recommend this if you come here. Final Thoughts: Damo doesn't live up to the hype. The drinks are overpriced for what you get, and the flavors don't justify the cost. Combined with the crowded environment and lack of standout options, I wouldn't recommend a visit or plan to return.

Yelp
I ordered the strawberry matcha -- bold matcha flavor with the perfect blend of sweetness from the strawberry. They had cute tea sets for dine-in which would be a great option if you want to sit and chat with your friends!

Yelp
Happy to see this place still open and busy! Don't miss out on their matcha drinks. I'd skip the cream top americano though.

Yelp
Their matcha is definitely on the more subtle sweet, grassy side but very smooth. If you like a less sweet matcha, this is definitely for you. I usually like a little sweeter in my coffee/matcha drinks, but I did mediate that by getting the Strawberry Matcha with real strawberry chunks/a jam at the bottom and that increased sweetness level for me. I like that this place distinguishes themselves a bit by having other interesting seasonal drinks like a brown sugar sweet potato latte, so that makes me more interested to come by and try other options. Parking lot was mostly full, but like twice the size of a typical strip mall so I found a spot pretty quickly. Very smooth matcha, interesting drinks, and worth a visit.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come to Damo for so long and finally got the opportunity with some church friends! I got the matcha einspanner and I savored every sip of that drink. The matcha was strong but not bitter with the perfect hint of sweetness. The foam on top was also lovely and creamy, it blended so well with the matcha. Dare I say, this is the best matcha einspanner I've had in socal (Memorylook is a close second). The cafe has small tables that are great for catching up with friends! I would definitely want to come back if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Yummy matcha place in K-Town! The interior is super welcoming and clean. The uniforms that the workers wear are really adorable and aesthetically pleasing! Staff is super friendly. The service goes by super quick considering how it's always packed inside and there are so many drinks to try on the menu. I stuck with the basic matcha latte order to try out their matcha and it was AMAZING! The matcha is really high quality! It probably is the best matcha spot I've gone to in both the Bay Area and SoCal area. Definitely check this spot out if you happen to pass by it or want your matcha fix!

Yelp
They have hands down the best hojicha eispanner I've ever had. The hojicha flavor is perfect and you can taste the roasty-ness of the tea. Their cream top is smooth and packed with hojicha flavor. I could drink this drink ever day honestly! The cafe is super cute and had quite a bit of seating. I noticed a lot of people doing work there or just hanging out with friends. Their service is pretty quick and the baristas are nice.

Yelp
TLDR: Hojicha einspanner = 5 stars (must try) Mugwort waffle = 4 stars Wuyi oolong tea = 3.5 stars The cafe is very modern and clean. It's a bit crowded but there are tables with outlets if you wanted to work here. Service was really friendly and quick. The hojicha einspanner was amazing. The hojicha whipped topping was thick and I thought it almost too sweet until you drink it with the tea and it becomes such a mellow, toasted, nutty taste. It's so creamy, smooth, and delightful. It tastes high quality. Highly recommend. I saw reviews stating the mugwort waffle was good and it looked interesting so I ordered it. The waffle was surprisingly kinda savory and greasy? The red bean whipped topping went well with it but it was kind chewy and hard. It was a good balance of sweet and salty. No regrets in trying it but I will pass on it next time. Wuyi oolong tea was served in a tea set and hourglass to measure the steep time. The tea leaves were standard and the taste was OK. I felt the tea had a roasted, lightly smoked, slightly leather-scented taste. After the 3rd steep, the flavor is mostly gone. I noticed was the tea set was cold so when the tea finished steeping (per timer), it was lukewarm, which I felt affected the taste and experience. Overall, lots of loose leaf tea selections from different places. Will give the other teas a try next time.

Yelp
I ordered the Chestnut latte and Mango Matcha Latte. Both were extremely delicious (and pretty sweet). There were so many drink options to choose from. I loved the color scheme of the cafe as well. They had seating inside as well but most of the seats were taken. Definitely aesthetically appealing tho! I would like to note we went around 1-2pm and there was a long line. But it was totally worth the wait!!! We waited about 10-15 minutes. Staff were friendly as well.

Yelp
One of the best matcha places in LA! This place is poppin' and so usually doesn't offer much seating (or standing room for that matter). I came here twice - once for the mango cream matcha and another for the matcha einspener. The price is pretty steeep - but the drinks are tasty! For both drinks, the matcha is smoothly blended into the milk, and the cream is fluffy and not too sweet! Note: If you get less ice or no ice, they don't fill the drink up to the brim. If you are unsatisfied with your drink, they are willing to remake it.

Yelp
Damo is located in Koreatown. The store specializes in matcha and is so aesthetically cute! They have a so many drinks on the menu that I was so excited to try and even seasonal flavors like coconut water + matcha. I ended up ordering strawberry matcha. The sweetness of the strawberry matcha was perfect and I really liked the taste of the matcha. I loved the caffeine from the matcha itself but the texture was pretty grainy and the large ice cubes made it super difficult to mix. This is a great matcha cafe and can't to try more flavors!

Yelp
I really enjoy this little gem. There's on-site parking but it gets very crowded on the weekends/peak hours where lines can go out the door. Coffee and matcha are good as well. I like that they don't just batch make their matcha despite the crowd, and they take the time to whisk and craft you the perfect drink. Drinks are definitely priced higher than other cafes. I'll only go here on weekdays but best of luck on the weekends!

Yelp
I saw this place on TikTok, and conveniently on my most recent vacation, I was staying across the street. I walked over right at 8AM and I wasn't even the first customer! Decor looks really nice and eye pleasing. I only ordered one drink to share since I knew we were going to be eating a lot that day. Got the Matcha Forest. Drink looks awesome, and tastes just as great! I'd come back and try some other drinks, like the Hojicha or Chestnut Einspener. I was almost hoping they'd sell some of the tools and equipment they use in the store, that'd be cute and aesthetic to have at home!

Yelp
This matcha spot is out of this world. I've tried countless spots in various states and this one definitely takes the cake for me. The chocolate Forest Einspener is delectable - my partner described it almost like a milkshake foam on top - it's sweet but not sickeningly so. I love that the staff direct you on how to drink it so that you can get the best experience. That's great service. The plain iced matcha latte was just as great if not slightly better in my opinion. The matcha is high quality and they take great care when making each drink. The interior is beautiful with plenty of seating options if you're not going at peak hours. It's clean and modern. Staff is really friendly.

Yelp
A zillion K-Town coffee shops, but no FOMO here at DAMO --- you're exactly where you need to be. Small parking lot here (or a huge one at the new Zion Market just across the street). It's always packed, but who cares ... someone is always leaving when you're ready to sit down and wait for your order to be called. I'm all about the coffee drinks, and don't forget the sweet cream on top. Don't mix it or use a straw, so you can get a cream taste with every sip. Matcha drinks are also yummy -- with the cream! Yum.

Yelp
I always love visiting Damo in K-town! There's usually a line, but it moves quickly. The strawberry matcha and mango matcha are absolutely amazing; I can never choose between the two! They use fresh strawberries and mango with chunks, unlike other places that rely on artificial syrups. You can really taste the difference. The signature da-gwa and Damo waffle are must-tries. The waffles have a unique mugwort flavor, making it delicious! Every drink l've tried-strawberry einspener, chocolate forest, strawberry matcha, and mango matcha-has been fantastic. I love that the matcha is made to order for that extra freshness. Cons: - Parking can be tough to find - Seating fills up quickly Definitely a spot l'll keep returning to!
