On the Grid : Dancing Goats Coffee

"Great spot for getting that daily cup of joe and even better for taking a second to drink it on their screened-in patio. Serving Batdorf & Bronson Coffee, it's crystal clear that Dancing Goats not only cares about the coffee you're getting but also the experience with which you sip it." - Steven Johnson Studio

These Are Atlanta’s Essential Coffee Shops

"This in-town coffee bar was the first business to open at Ponce City Market, first as a pop-up in 2012, followed by its present location two years later. The shop includes a screened-in porch overlooking North Avenue with plenty of seating. Dancing Goats includes multiple locations throughout Atlanta." - Beth McKibben, Sarra Sedghi

Breakfast and Brunch Restaurant Cultivate Food and Coffee Is Opening at the Battery Atlanta in Cobb County - Eater Atlanta

"Dancing Goats Coffee and Batdorf and Bronson Coffee Roasters have merged under one name: Dancing Goats Coffee. Why the rebrand? Simplification and streamlining, according to the press release, which indicates customer feedback was a big factor in the decision to rebrand under one, easily identifiable name. Dancing Goats owners Larry and Cherie Challain purchased Batdorf and Bronson in 1990 but kept the two brands separated by name. Nothing else, including wholesale production and the company’s retail arm, is changing." - Beth McKibben

Where to Go on That First Date Around Atlanta

"A chill date for those who don't want to go the drinks or dinner route. Grab a latte and a seat on the covered patio for coffee and conversation. If the date goes well, walk over to Ponce City Market for a bite to eat or take a walk on the BeltLine." - Eater Staff

Google
This place looks like it’s going to be great. It’s got nice vibes, a cozy indoor space, and a pretty outdoor covered patio that’s perfect for lounging or catching up with a friend. But sadly, the coffee just doesn’t live up to the setting. Tried it with an extra shot, and still—no flavor, no depth, no kick. Just bland. For a spot that feels so dialed-in vibe-wise, the coffee itself was a letdown. Come for the ambiance if you’re looking for a chill place to sit, but I wouldn’t come back for the coffee.

Google
Cool coffee shop by Ponce City Market. Small inside but they have tons of outdoor seating on their patio. Great to have parking in a lot as well.

Google
The coffee was not very good. The quiche was tiny and it was $8 for a tiny quiche. This was my least likable shop in Atlanta. I would have much rather danced with a goat then come here.

Google
Very impressed with Dancing Goats. First their coffee is delicious. I tried their new pumpkin pie iced coffee latte and I was blessed with the most balanced flavors. Delicious tones of dark roast and subtle pumpkin that was not too sweet or too prominent. The service was also spectacular. The barista was great, he told us about a few fan favorites and their fall flavors. This spot is really big it has indoor and outdoor seating. Both equally attractive to college students and working peeps alike. It was pretty busy when I passed by and even then we got our order under 5 minutes. Very happy with my experience here I will definitely return!

Google
Great ube latte, cheese danish, and outdoor seating. Was never really impressed with the coffee the past 2-3 times but today was a wonderful time ☀️ thank you

Google
Great coffee. Good Urban outdoor space. I'm in here once a month or so, as it's on my path and the coffee is worth going a little out of the way. Originally, I came here for the Bohemian blend, which is only available in a few places. It's a great roast that is both robust and smooth. Mostly, I drink straight espresso shots. The espresso shots here are particularly smooth and consistent. In addition to great coffee, they have a decent shelf of pastries. Also, they have a well crafted selection of roasted coffees. Of course, they have a bunch of mugs that are entertaining as we all need another steel tumbler. Their outdoor area is spacious and pleasant. There's a large screened area with fans and some other lounge chairs nearby. If you're really picky about your coffee, this is worth going a bit out of your way.

Google
Loved this place! Loved the atmosphere, loved that there is a place outside to sit & relax. Great area (location) loved my matcha latte. My husband enjoyed his coffee, we also got a scone but it wasn’t that good in my opinion, i still give 5 stars to this place though, we enjoyed our time in this coffee place, really wanna come back for more

Google
Austin, Amber & Adriana make this place GREAT. Quick service, friendly baristas and good coffee. Thank you for making this place a go-to in the neighborhood!

Yelp
We were in Atlanta for a week and came here daily (2nd cup was had elsewhere). Best fresh drip coffee and nice pour over offerings if you aren't wanting an espresso based drink. There were other coffee spots in Atlanta where the espresso drinks are good but I love a good drip/pour over. It's a pretty straightforward coffee shop but the service was efficient. There's some seating inside but a larger patio area which is perfect in the warmer months. Of all the places in Atlanta I went to, this was my favorite for coffee.

Yelp
--Location/Parking-- Great location, limited parking because of the area. I parked several blocks away and I saw Dancing Goats and had to come. --Ambiance-- Great upscale, chill environment. Kinda hot on the extension portion but was manageable during the hot day. Bathrooms were clean. --Service/Staff-- The staff was efficient since there were no crowds in the afternoon. --Food/Products-- My go to drink is the Cortado. Perfectly made, no complaints --Capacity-- Plenty of seats that could accommodate 30 plus people, probably 8-10 on the main structure, and at least 20 people on the extension. --Overall-- Great little coffee shop I would go back to if I lived in the area. It would be my go to spot for hanging out.

Yelp
A Relaxed Coffee Spot with a Standout Outdoor Patio in Atlanta Dancing Goats Coffee offers a good experience, with a comfortable indoor space to grab a cup and sit down for a while. The coffee itself was solid--good, though not the best I've had, possibly just not my ideal bean profile. It was enjoyable, but nothing extraordinary. What really sets Dancing Goats Coffee apart is its covered outdoor patio. This spacious area features a variety of seating options, from rocking chairs to sofas, creating an inviting atmosphere to settle in and enjoy your coffee. It's the perfect spot to find a cozy corner, chat with friends, or relax with a good book. All in all, Dancing Goats Coffee is a great choice, especially if you're looking for a place with an exceptional outdoor space to unwind with your cup of joe. My Criteria: 5 stars: The best food I have ever had, or an excellent option given the price. 4 stars: Good food, a restaurant I look forward to trying again. 3 stars: Good food, a restaurant that I am indifferent to. 2 stars: Below average experience, will not go again. 1 star: This restaurant should be closed.

Yelp
Located just around the corner from the parking for Ponce City Market, I was lucky to obtain street parking nearby. Parking is significantly cheaper than in the parking lot so I would advised doing a few loops around before resorting to the garage parking. The place itself is fairly small inside but has a large outdoor space with a ceiling fan for the summer and I am assuming a heater in the winter. There are plenty of cozy seats and couches to lounge on. We were lucky to come during a time when they were not busy since they were just about to be closing. As a limited caffeine person, I tried their chai latte which was creamy, sweet, and not overly caffeinated. The barista was efficient and professional. I could see myself passing hours here easily so I would love to come again!

Yelp
Good coffee and always busy. What seemed to start out as s a lil place to get coffee and relax has turned into, for me, a Starbucks environment. I love their product and it's a like too crowded for my morning, weekend morning chill mood
google avatar

Aditi R.

Yelp
This came highly recommended as one of the best cafes near PCM. We went in last weekend around 6pm and this place wasn't busy, but wasn't empty either. I got a cold brew and my friend got an iced mocha - not our wisest decisions because the indoor space was full and the patio space, though completely beautiful, had us outdoors in the wind. The patio area is definitely a vibe. I'd be back during a better weather day to experience it. I just wish they had a better indoor space/vibe too. The coffees were good. They weren't the best coffee I ever had or anything like that. But it definitely hits the spot. The prices are standard too.
google avatar

Yelp
There's a very specific reason why you come here to get coffee over others in the area, and it is without a doubt THE PATIO. It's perfect. 10/10. For a place that is literally always kinda busy, I also always magically have a seat. My car may have to do a little work to find somewhere to park but my lower end does not, amen. The staff is nice, wait isn't very long, and again.. THE PATIO! I actually don't care about coffee that much, I usually buy it to enjoy the ambiance, lol.

Yelp
WHAT EVER FLOATS YOUR GOAT! With a name like Dancing Goats Coffee, I knew we had to check it out. They offer plenty of seating which is great. Whether you are there to do work or just hang with friends there is ample seating. The menu is fun with the basic espresso drinks and some others for their spring menu. I asked the girl working there about the various spring menu items. And she talked me out of one but highly suggested another. The one I ordered was per her suggestion. Though the expectation did not reach the reality of it. Ube latte was very bland. She had described it as super sweet, but we winded up having to add extra simple syrup to it for us to be able to drink it. Overall, this coffee shop is spacious and the addition of patio seating was a plus. If I come back, I'm not sure I would order this beverage again. But would opt for something else.

Casey C.

Yelp
My favorite go-to coffee shop! There's always enough space to work or read, and I absolutely adore the outdoor porch. I usually go for a classic vanilla latte, but the seasonal options are always delicious
google avatar

Tanni D.

Yelp
Staff and the ambiance at Dancing Goats Coffee near Ponce City Market are great! I don't think the drinks are anything special, but the establishment has a lot of space (including outside) to work. WiFi is also reliable. Since I needed WiFi for work last week, I dropped by the cafe. I ordered the Iced Ube Latte ($5.25), and the ube flavor was subtle. It tasted more like a plain iced latte.
google avatar

Yelp
We love this place! Me and my wife come here often for a coffee date! The baristas are friendly and the service is quick! It's a great place to sit and have a chat or just get some work done! We love their outside area and we love to pass an hour or so getting some work done sometimes! My wife usually gets the hot chocolate which she loves, and I usually get the chai tea latte! The hot chocolate is good quality and the chai isn't too sweet, which can often be a problem! If you are in the Ponce City Market area, I highly recommend coming by to give this place a shot! You won't regret it!!

Yelp
The views are amazing is how I must start this . It's close enough to Ponce City Market but far enough away from the busy-ness of it . The staff was friendly and helped me pick out what to order . I didn't eat and am not sure of the food situation . I do only ish they had more outlets to plug in electronics . I found myself having to leave early because I couldn't charge my laptop . But definitely will be back.
google avatar

Kaelyn C.

Yelp
Quick and friendly staff. Coffee was really good, it's nice to go to a place and not taste burnt espresso. The baristas know what they are doing. Cafe was super busy (9:30 on a Wednesday morning) so we weren't able to grab a seat but oh well
google avatar

Chelsea G.

Yelp
This place is blessed ~ I initially met my fiance here! Things you should know: I. PARKING We lived over here and were able to walk conveniently to the cafe. Fortunately there is a variety of options for parking. Out front, there is a small and limited shared parking lot with the plaza businesses. If that is full, you could try Ponce's parking lot, on the right side of the plaza. Then again, if there are no spaces, then you'll have to opt into Ponce's Paid parking garage. II. SERVICE Timely. They have indoor and outdoor seating available as well as a couple sugar free syrup options for my friends that like guilt-free add ins. The outdoor seating is dog friendly! III. QUALITY The iced dirty chai is delicious ~ I highly recommend. The location is also prime. We love wondering the nearby market after and then the beltline. IV. CAPACITY Always fairly busy but we've always been able to find a chair to sit

Yelp
Best coffee over ever had!!!!! Ordered a 12oz iced latte with a small pump of vanilla (chef's kiss) - the beans were roasted 2 days prior and it was their Dancing Goats blend coffee. Coffee was soo smooth and not acidic at all. Truly the best coffee I've ever tasted. Sad I don't live here but would highly recommend if you're visiting around the Ponce Market. Service was friendly and ambiance was cute cafe vibes
google avatar

Aerial A.

Yelp
The outside area is such a wonderful space. I recently held my book club meeting there and each Reader pointed out how cute this location was! I personally didn't have any coffee that day but my girlfriends did and they had no complaints. Would definitely come back real soon.
google avatar

Equana D.

Yelp
This place is like a well oiled machine. I've been coming for 5 years or so, never had a problem with a drink or service however I will admit that I order a chilly goat on 99% of my visits so I don't have a ton of experience with the full menu or offerings. I like that there are multiple places to sit (indoor or out) and the toast online ordering system is perfect. I've never had to remind them that I placed a mobile order. There are convenient parking spots up front for those of us who just want to pop in and out. What's not to love?

Colditz K.

Yelp
First, the service was terrible; there was a single barista/cashier trying to manage which was totally undermanned ( there were actually 2 other employees but one seemed to be restocking and the other was on break?). When I ordered the pour over, it was literally the first time in my life I've ordered a pour over and the beans I was getting weren't identified. It was just the drink and I got something, which is a really bad experience when you are paying more for a premium experience. Further, potentially due to the rush of people, but coffee was severely underextracted and tasted very little coffee flavors from the cup. Their pour over was done by a machine, so either the grinds on the coffee were wrong or the machine was misconfigured.
google avatar

Estie T.

Yelp
Dancing goats coffee bar is one of my favorite places to come hang out at! I often come for my morning coffee and stay to work or read in the outside open air seating area. There's also seating inside if needed. I've had great experiences with their coffee-- I usually order an iced americano or a pour over, my boyfriend gets the Chilly Goat (frozen blended latte) which is great and not overly sweet! They usually have pastries/bagels available in the mornings too. Service is always exceptional and speedy. Parking isn't too bad, there's an attached lot that has free parking or you. A pay at Ponce and walk over.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
The atmosphere is amazing. Like many before me have said the patio is awesome. I'm enjoying a hot vanilla chai tea and a walnut banana bread. They are both delicious. The ambience is great. Just a fun little mom and pop place. I try to support the locals, but I'm in town and I would definitely come back here.
google avatar

Isaiah G.

Yelp
We needed coffee and found this place. There's street parking. The place was really dim when we walked in. I ordered a vanilla latte iced and my husband ordered a hot vanilla latte. The service was good and fast. Price point was pretty average. My husband really liked his hot coffee. Mine was good but it was a not that cold. Overall we had a good experience it was a solid 4 stars.
google avatar

Kayla C.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and great coffee. I ordered cold brew in a personal cup and the cold brew had great flavor.
google avatar

Candace L.

Yelp
We pulled up early after a red eye into ATL. We've been to Dancing Goats a few times before, before but not this location. The area is a bit sketch but the shop was fine. I ordered a dirty chai with oat milk. Their chai is a bit spicier than it is sweet. I feel like every time I'm at a dancing goats I order that donut in the case and devour it before my latte is ready. It's yummy and pairs well with their warm drinks. The bathroom was a bit of a disaster for so early in the morning. Service was good!
google avatar

Todd S.

Yelp
Not sure why this place has good reviews the coffee is terrible. The outdoor seating is nice but everything else was bad. I took one sip of my drink and had to toss it. It tasted completely burnt. There are way better options.
google avatar

Vena F.

Yelp
I definitely prefer the Decatur location for personable service. This location is likely more preferable for the on the go or free workspace types. My Americano was decent.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I was walking to Ponce Street Market when I saw Dancing Goats cafe and decided to go in for a drink. I love how spacious it is!! There's so many areas to sit and enjoy your drink whether it's by yourself, with a friend or two, or even with a group! I like that they had a semi-outdoor area and a quiet study area! I also really enjoyed the drink variety! I got the Brown Sugar Rosemary Latte (seasonal drink) and it was so tastyyyyy. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Dancing Goat offers indoor, shaded patio, and outdoor seating that makes knocking out work or relaxing and reading a book a great option. The Barista's were also friendly and fast. I ordered the Americano - it wasn't my favorite, but the price was reasonable. I just wish it had a bolder and smoother flavor.
google avatar

Emma L.

Yelp
I visited Atlanta to meet my friend here at this coffee shop and a nice young lady with short blonde hair checked us out. She was so accommodating and great. Would come back here. I will say the coffee isn't the best but the service alone deserves this 5 stars!!!
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
The coffee here is so good! It's super smooth, super strong and are a local company, so you're supporting a local business! The people are friendly and the shop is so cute!
google avatar

Colleen L.

Yelp
I absolutely adore their huge patio! There's so much outdoor seating and spacious enough for groups. I stopped by while running errands to get a latte and had a little down time for myself. While their space was really nice and open, their latte fell short for me. The espresso was really light, I didn't really taste anything and the whole milk that was used also tasted more like skim milk :( the body of the latte was really thin and to sum it up, tasted kind of 'watered-down' They sell plenty of packaged coffee and small grab to go inside, their menu is limited to mostly coffee drinks. If you're looking for a matcha or something more curated, this isn't the spot. Even though the latte didn't work for me, I really enjoyed my time in their open patio.
google avatar

Paulina A.

Yelp
Dancing Goats Coffee Bar is located in Ponce City Market and offers plentiful outdoor seating perfect for a Spring/Summer day but I'm not sure about Winter. The outdoor seating is a screened patio and there are some seats inside the cafe. I walked alongside the exterior of Ponce City Market and wanted to stop in for a refreshing iced chai. There was no wait and the service was quick. My iced chai was just OK. It didn't have the strong, rich, creamy coffee flavor I was looking for and it was too watery and not well mixed. I decided to grab a seat outside and it was packed. There were a few people enjoying their coffee on a date, with friends or solo but the other 90% didn't seem to have a coffee in hand and were spread out with their laptops and taking business calls. I honestly don't get it but I digress. Cool coffee shop but not sure if I would revisit.
google avatar

Rebeca M.

Yelp
Just ordered a matcha tea iced latte , it was just milk with a bit of matcha for color .. They literally gave me a cup of milk with ice .. this isnt the first time this has happened

Suki W.

Yelp
I went into DG today to grab a coffee and study. After i ordered I stepped to the side to wait for my coffee. The man barista on duty at 10am today made about 6 people's drinks first, who were in line after me. They also happened to be people he knew so they didn't pay either. It took him 13 mins to make my mocha. I'm all for hooking up your friends when you can, but after i paid $8 for a 12 oz mocha with tip, it was frustrating i had to wait so long for others who did not pay, to get theirs first before I got mine. I also didn't like that 13 mins of my paid parking was wasted standing waiting for a mocha that could've been done in 3 mins. Outside vibes were nice tho, and the cashier lady was nice.
google avatar

Shelby V.

Yelp
It was packed so we didn't get a place to sit either inside or out unfortunately. The coffee was awesome though and we were taking our drinks shopping so we didnt need a seat. They had many milk alternatives for a vegan and some cute coffee and dancing goat "gear". Parking is tough but if you're lucky you can get a nearby spot and you can even bring your doggy! I got an iced oat latte and my friend got a chai. They absolutely satisfied and the baristas were able to give notes on the flavor profiles to make sure we knew what we were getting. Would absolutely go back
google avatar

Opal D.

Yelp
Open early, thank goodness. Scones weren't great but everything else was fantastic. Chai was tasty.
google avatar

Khyla L.

Yelp
The service and drinks are excellent!! The cashiers/coffee makers were sweet and knew about the menu. I ordered a tea version a lavender espresso drink and it was so (oat) creamy and delicious! They have a wide variety of coffees and teas. I will be visiting again!

Fati L.

Yelp
I think this place is the reason I graduated college. The outside seating was so nice especially around fall/spring time to study. The drinks are tasty but a little expensive. I never had a bad experience with the baristas.
google avatar

Lico J.

Yelp
The ambiance is casual and relaxing. Service is friendly and fast. The coffee is solid - nothing really amazingly great. The seasonal fig cortado tasted not very strong and the fig flavor actually added a bit bitterness to the aftertaste. A good option if you are in the area and look for a place to hang out or rest.
google avatar

Jaquie M.

Yelp
Friendly staff - sampled their espresso, cold brew and lavender iced latte today. Been in ATL a few days and wanted to check out the coffee shops near my Airbnb. Glad I found this one open on a Saturday afternoon.
google avatar

Courtney E.

Yelp
Really good! Got a midday chai for a little pick me up and it was sweet, very cinnamony, and refreshing. Got lucky enough to find a parking spot in front but didn't get to sit inside since it was packed so I sat outside closer to another business that had an outdoor seating area. I'd recommend it.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
I first visited Dancing Goat when I was traveling to Washington State a few years ago. I fell in love with this coffee!! My favorite is the dancing goat blend. The taste is so creamy with a hint of chocolate. This coffee doesn't give you that bitterness that a lot of other coffees do. I live in NC and would literally drive 4 hours for this coffee!! Just one of those things that make you so happy when you drink it. Love the atmosphere of the shop as well!! I'm hoping one day they will bring one to NC. I ordered a hot and iced latte with almond milk. My son had their hot chocolate which tasted amazing as well!! Getting ready to go there again before we head home from our trip.
google avatar

Atiya J.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee spot!! There's an abundance of indoor and outdoor seating with fans and comfy couch swings . The lavender latte I got was really good and recommended by the baristas
google avatar

Kerry H.

Yelp
Solid coffee spot. Nice shaded patio to hang out on - work, read, catch up with a friend. Would recommend the coffee or chai. Not the biggest fan of dirty chai (chai with a shot of espresso), but a lot of friends enjoy it here. Also, good place to get roasted coffee beans (they will give you a free drip coffee and you can grind your beans after purchase).
google avatar

Steven P.

Yelp
Love this place, some of the best coffee in ATL! I'm obsessed with the cardamom latte, it's a Muscat if you go there!

Rolf M.

Yelp
To me the best cup in town. Very smooth and round flavor, nice staff and they offer actually real china to drink out of. I like the set up at all of them. I go there about 4 times a week minimum at there various locations. Never disappoints.
google avatar

Darren H.

Yelp
This was the first time for me at this location. I usually go to the one that's in downtown Decatur. this location is a bit better due to its location and outdoor seating. Do some shopping and grab a coffee or just come here to grab a cup of joe only. The baristas are always friendly & quick with a suggestion. Being that this shop is located in Ponce City Market parking can be tricky Thi is a good stop to refuel when on the beltline.
google avatar

Joseph C.

Yelp
I would move to Atlanta just for Dancing Goats! Great atmosphere to either study or meet with some friends! Also pet friendly! Staff is incredibly friendly and helped me find the perfect drink that wasn't to strong for me!
google avatar

Kelsey M.

Yelp
The iced mocha was good, it had a nice strong coffee taste. The prices are similar to Starbucks. Servers were polite and nice atmosphere. Thanks!
google avatar

Janet L.

Yelp
Had the ice latte with white chocolate and lavender. Friends got americano, hojicha coconut latte! We all like our drinks. The place is very rustic and the outside area is very cute! Lots of chairs and swinging chairs! The place was a bit hard to find but overall good coffee
