Daniel Corpuz Chocolatier

This place is located inside a giant food hall and there are also many artists goods nearby. I had the ube cookie and it was delicious. Very fluffy and flavorful. The chocolates looked delicious and like works of art but I didn’t try them.

We found Daniel Corpuz by chance, exploring Chinatown one day. He has a kitchen in the asian market hall. He uses fantastic fresh ingredients, top quality chocolate, and creates the most beautiful bonbons.

We just happen to bump into Daniel’s business because we were eating ramen right across from him, and recognized his face from being on a Netflix show that we watched as a family. The designs and colors of his chocolates made my mouth watery. The color choices and descriptions of chocolates as we spoke to him were like poetry. I asked him, if he had to showcase one of his chocolates inside a glass case for everyone to see in a museum, which one would he showcase? He said the Salty Caramel which is the one I’m eating on the video. I absolutely loved bumping into Daniel, and trying his chocolates was just a fantastic element of surprise. The packaging!!!! The simple but classy packaging was for someone who should be serving chocolates with white gloves. Hey, Daniel. Congrats on the show and congrats on being a rockstar Chocolatier. NYC had one of the best and people will come to see you from all over the world, if they haven’t already. Thank you for your work!

I have never had chocolates here before, purchased a box on a whimsical Friday afternoon during a flood storm. The owner was very friendly and provided suggestions when I wasn't sure of what to pick. The chocolates: They looked gorgeous! Oh my lord the oolong tea flavored one was out of this world, I've never tasted chocolate like this. I never though chocolates could taste like this! My eyes have been opened. location: a bit hard to find the chocolate stand despite looking for it! Maybe a suggestion to put a sign that is visible from walking in the corridor Packaging: thoughtful and cute, a little small box and gift bag. I gave it as a gift to my boyfriend! Verdict: I'll be back during the holidays for presents for my family ~

Gorgeous chocolate in Canal Street Market. Literally the best chocolate I've ever had, the flavors and chocolate work extremely well together. The variety is spectacular. I'm super excited to get some more :))) The ube cookie was also good :)

I found out about him through the Netflix show School of Chocolate where (SPOILER ALERT) I believe he was robbed of the winning title! Well, joke’s on them because Daniel’s products are so exquisitely beautiful and delicious. I particularly like the decorative, colorful and shiny bon-bons that make fantastic gifts. Sure, they’re a little pricey but it’s absolutely worth it! He will also sometimes have pop-up stores around NYC. For example, he had a stall during a couple of Filipino Fest Markets during the summer and a stall in the Union Square Holiday Market in NYC. His staff are so friendly (quintessential filipino customer service) and happy, which tells me he manages and pays them well.

Each of these looks like a work of art! They taste amazing too. And there were two vegan options when I went, which seems to rotate.

I’m a stay at home mom of a rambunctious toddler. It is a tiring and exhausting job that is 24/7. I take one bonbon and I close my eyes and for a minute I’m sent to Heaven. It’s truly a sweet little luxury I can divulge into any moment I need it. I love their flavors and selection, I can’t recommend it more!

If there is one thing you should leave with from the Canal Street Market food court, it is an Ube cookie and a bonbon set from this place. I was lucky to meet the chocolatier Daniel himself! He's so nice and professional. The Ube cookie is my all-time fave! It's such an amazing treat. The texture is amazing. I love cookies with a slight crisp exterior, and soft chewy interior. There are hardly any cookies that do this well and consistently every time. Warmed for you on the spot, you get these pockets of melty goodness in between bites. And of course, I love that everything is not too sweet! The gem-like bonbons are sooo pretty. Too pretty to eat! I gifted them to my sister and my family loves them so much that my brother got a box for his girlfriend for Valentine's Day. Makes for a perfect fool-proof gift. Everything down to the packaging and presentation is done with such care and intention. It truly felt like a luxurious experience. As a designer myself, I also couldn't help but notice the beautiful illustrations adorning the booth. Daniel even showed me pieces he was working on such as a sakura bonbon and an adorable pigeon one! There is nothing more "New York" than a pigeon bonbon, perfect for both tourists and locals. He said his menu updates and it seems to change seasonally, so I'll definitely be back soon to check out other flavors and also grab another cookie when I'm in the area!

Chef Daniel Corpuz from the Netflix series School of Chocolate. You'll notice really amazing and delicious sweets and seasonal ones once you arrive. He was kind and energetic with passion for what he does. There were so many options to choose from when it came to picking the right chocolate and it wasn't easy as they are all great. But we chose the seasonal Christmas ones and they taste amazing! Really feeling the holiday spirit with every bite.

I was looking some unique bonbons and I would have never guess to go to Chinatown! I found this while exploring the food court and wanted to bring back treaties for my partner. Food: 4/5 I really enjoyed the bonbon selection. I got a few interesting flavors: Salted soy sauce - reminded me burnt soy sauce or tamari with salt Ube - nice and subtle for those new to the flavor Matcha - I wanted more of the earthiness from the tea but got white chocolate instead I also got the Chew-olate chip cookie which they served cold. I realized after the first bite it was more a of shortbread with chocolate than the traditional texture. It was not my favorite but my partner liked it. All in all, if you are up to spending $35 on 6 bonbons and a cookie then go for it! I think these make a great chocolate gift for those with more Asian tastes.

I am not a chocolate lover, but when I was waiting for my food, this place caught my eye. I am a ube lover and I love passionfruit, pandan, and calamansi and they had an array of filipino flavours. I saw they advertised as seen on Netflix, but I am not familiar with the show and so I didn't know anything about Daniel Corpuz. I didn't even realize he helped me until I am here Yelping and see the fact he is Filipino descent. Now it make sense why he had so many filipino inspired flavours. I ordered pandan, ube, and calamansi, but the cashier only heard two flavours out of the three. I know C really loves chocolate, so I shared it with her when I brought it back. It's good - I appreciate the fact it wasn't overly sweet or decadent and it really captures the essence of the filipino flavours. I see pictures of ube ice cream, I didn't notice that on the menu, but I definitely will go back to try it.

Chocolates were superb with unique flavors that we''ve never tried before. So far we've tried the calamansi & chocolate crunch & loved both. Each unique in taste & texture. The presentation of the chocolates were beautifully made. It looked as good as it tasted. One star down (4.5 stars if I could) for the customer service, no greeting or acknowledging our presence while looking but once they knew we were serious buyers the lady at the front was met with a smile. Maybe it's the NY culture but we were turned off by it since we were excited to try. Proud to see/support a Filipino in business.

New favorite: passion fruit! It's amazing how well all the different flavors they have combine so well with chocolate. I'm looking forward to the next new creation!

Owner's super nice and was really patient when explaining all the different flavors! Chocolates while on the higher price end, were worth every penny with unique flavor options while nothing being too strong or too sweet, had perfect balance! Cookies were also delicious, one of the best in NYC. Highly recommend!

Right from the beginning, you can immediately tell that Daniel is a talented and passionate chocolatier. From the showcase you can tell how much effort and attention to detail he puts into each delectable treat. You can taste the high quality of ingredients and beautiful flavor in each of his creations. Him and his staff always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The counter is always full of beautiful work.

I eat and review a lot of chocolate and much of it is in NYC. When I saw this place, I had to try it. I love new chocolate shops/chocolatiers. It took me a minute to realize that the Daniel Corpuz was one of the incredible contestants on School of Chocolate. One thing I always wondered about with that show is whether or not the creations emphasized flavor as much as looks. If this chocolatier is any indication, the emphasis was on looks. The chocolates here are beautiful, but the flavor combos need additional work. The balance is off. That's not to say that these aren't good. It is to say that if you're a chocolate (especially bon bon/truffle) aficionado, these won't quite cut it. Some fillings are too sharp without anything to cut it. Some flavors are barely there. That said, the counter is beautiful. The chocolates are beautiful and thoughtful. The service was great. I'll return in another 6 months to see if the flavors have changed at all.

Awesome chocolatier that also sells a few other treats, like cookies and ice cream. If you like Stick With Me Sweets and other such bonbons, you'll love this spot. I recently tried the ube cookie and a few ube bonbons and everything was perfect!

High quality chocolate and high quality service. Daniel and his team are always happy to answer any questions and open to working with any requests you may have, within reason. I once had a large order and they went above and beyond to make sure I had the bonbon boxes I needed. The chocolate is truly something else. You can't replicate it anywhere. The prices are more than reasonable when you consider the quality of the taste, design, and work that goes into the chocolate. Anyone can get cheap, over processed Hersheys chocolate but you can't get high quality and beautiful bonbons like this anywhere else.

Tremendous amounts of exotic Asian flavors, just a little on the pricey end. I really enjoyed the passionfruit, ube, matcha tea and pandan. Love the design !

Mid chocolate tbh, and it's a little overpriced. Not sure if I heard right but heard yelling at staff. Chocolate doesn't taste as good as it looks.

The service was horrible. They don't value their customers at all and talks down on us. This place needs better management. Also their Chocolate is overpriced for what it's worth along with their service.

Bonbon flavors are awesome! Small space in food court so you can actually see chefs at work.
