Had an unimpressive 12/31/22 NYE + anniversary dinner here for five people, and we'd really been looking forward to trying out Daniel's Broiler. Alas!
Highlights: staff was nice, were seated promptly, view/location is fabulous and the waterside tables are lovely, good (seasonal) parking, restaurant comp'd us sides because they forgot the sides. My Piemontese filet mignon was perfect, absolutely, best steak in the house, 10/10, everyone at the table thought it was the best steak of the night.
Lowlights: how can a steak restaurant screw up a filet mignon, one of the most expensive steaks on the menu? My sweetie likes rare steaks. One quarter of his 12oz filet mignon was solidly overdone, the rest was rare. He complained, they offered to redo. However, it never should have come off the broiler like this in the first place.
And here's the catch. They also completely forgot all of our sides to go with the steaks. We were all well into our steaks before the waiter reappeared, we notified about the sides and the steak being incorrectly done, and at that point we had error exhaustion. The sides appeared after a bit, with maybe 1/3 of our food left to go, and were duly eaten; we particularly liked the brussels sprouts.
I feel like the restaurant was perhaps short staffed, or perhaps the kitchen was short staffed, but... food and service weren't landing as they should for a dinner that was comfortably over over six hundred dollars and the ROI wasn't there for this meal.
The restaurant kindly provided an anniversary dessert, the coconut fudge sundae. It tasted fine, but when compared to, say, restaurants with extraordinarily composed and plated desserts, it was a sundae.
And it's a quibble, but our corner table didn't have a tablecloth. Felt like we were eating at a diner, not at a steakhouse.
