Google
was referred to this place as being one of the best bbq joints in town but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. granted, we did order to go and had a 30 minute drive. we ordered two, two meat combos. we got smoked chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. for sides, we got coleslaw, hush puppies, and fried corn. the good news was that the ribs were delicious. super moist, smoky, and tender. i could’ve finished a rack to myself. the brisket was a little on the dry side and not much smoke flavor that i’d hope for. the smoked chicken had good smoke flavor and was dry as well. the pulled pork didn’t have much seasoning or smoke flavor either. for the sides, the cheese curds and hush puppies were great and super tasty. but the fried corn wasn’t anything special. couldn’t really taste the natural corn flavor. despite all of this, i will give the benefit of the doubt that we did order to go and had a long drive. the staff were super friendly as well. this review won’t deter me from coming back. i agree it would’ve been better to dine in, which i will do next time.

Google
Love Texas style bbq and was excited to try this place since it has been around for quite awhile. I ordered the large pulled pork plate with sides of green beans and their house potato salad. My husband had the 2 meat plate , brisket ( added charge) and ribs, his sides were fries and baked beans. Unfortunately our meals are best described as MEDIOCRE. The pulled pork, while tender had ZERO flavor. The green beans were very watery (flavor average). The brisket lacked a smoke ring AND flavor. My husband said the ribs and beans were decent ( nothing spectacular). I did enjoy the tasty potato salad- best thing I had. We were also surprised that the Texas toast was only toasted on one side- the other side was just like soft white bread, rather odd. Overall, not many reasons to go back.

Google
So note to self don’t buy fish from a bar-b-que place. You go in and order, pay them sit down and someone brings you your meal. But when you pay for you meal you are asked for a tip up front. 15-18-20%. Well just to let you know they bring your food to the table and you never see them again. No true service. The hush puppies were good. The green beans were tasty. The fish was dry and overcooked the beans were ok. I’m not sure what was going on with the soda machine but it tasted just like syrup didn’t have the carbonation it should have had. I gave it 3 stars because the sides were good.

Google
First time here. We had a great experience. The brisket was smoky and tender and the beef rib was just out of this world. No sauce needed! The sides were good and the service was adequate. Our new favorite spot for BBQ.

Michelle Harrison

Google
My husband and I both have major food allergies and haven’t been able to have some good BBQ in over a year. I love that the smoked meats are smoked without a rub/seasonings. It was safe for us to eat and the food was great. We loved that the staff was knowledgeable on ingredients, answered all of my questions and didn’t make me feel like I was a burden with asking about their menu. We will definitely be repeat customers.

Google
I like the vibe of Danny’s, but the food itself wasn’t quite good enough for 5 stars. The brisket was good, but not great and the jalapeño sausage was a little too greasy for my taste. I didn’t try the pulled pork, so maybe I just chose poorly. The sides were good.

Google
Fantastic food went 2 Friday afternoons for lunch! Had the ribs, they make 2 types both fantastic 😍 don't forget the "southern potato salad" as a side dish We bought the potato salad also to go buy never again for that price! $12 for a quart!

Google
This mom and pop restaurant had excellent BBQ. We had the pork and beef brisket. The potato salad was great, and I don't even like the stuff. So were the hush puppies. I liked the fine chop on the coleslaw, the molasses in the baked beans, and the selection of sauces. The decor feels like each member of the family got a wall to decorate, but I wasn't there for the design, and the food was more than worth it! Just try all the sauces!

Yelp
A group of 15 of us came here for lunch and everyone really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. They had a large table set up and we pulled another nearby table together. I got the small brisket platter that comes with 2 sides and toast. I chose field peas and collards. Both were great. Some got ribs and declared they were super. Others got pork, some just got veggies because they have a great selection. The tea is wonderful too. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table quickly and with a smile. My favorite bbq place in this area.

Yelp
Worst Carolina BBQ pork plate ever; fatty, no flavor. WTF? The ribs tasted boiled not slow 'Que Carolina style and hence no flavor. Fatty as well.

Yelp
Have been coming here since it first opened & owner on site. Miss it being in MORRISVILLE! The portions of pork have decreased & price increased. I still love the sweet bbq sauce the best & the baked beans. Remember to ask for your Texas toast to be toasted on both sides. The blackberry cobbler doesn't have the great taste I recall. Waitresses still very nice. Park on the back side as front side parking has other store front names listed.

Yelp
I stopped at Danny's Bar-B-Que for lunch. It is located near the Wake Med Cary hospital. There are two entrances to the restaurant and both will lead you to the counter to order. After you order and pay, you find a seat and your food is brought out to you. The dining area is a good size and the sauces are on the table so you can try a bunch of them. If you need a drink refill, you just take your cup back to the counter. I went with the chopped pork plate and chose fries and a half of corn on the cob. It came with a slice of Texas toast. I'd return and try some other items on the menu.

Yelp
Service was great. Order at counter and pay before sitting down. Green beans were really good. Turkey was decent.

Zoe W.

Yelp
I ordered a combo bbq plate with ribs and smoked chicken to go. The ribs and chicken were not good and had absolutely NO flavor! The ribs were tough and were a pain to eat. I ordered extra sauces on the side and I'm glad I did because I needed it to eat the meat. I ordered fried okra and macaroni and cheese as my sides. The fried okra was placed in aluminum foil and it sweated so bad that it was no longer crispy or good to eat. The macaroni tasted good but what's a bbq spot where the sides are better than the bbq. I'm very disappointed Danny and I hope you develop a new recipe for your bbq that requires flavor and cooking your ribs slower for tenderness.
google avatar

Nick R.

Yelp
I go here on my lunch break every week and it is so good! Less than $20 will get you a enough BBQ food to keep you full the rest of the day! The turkey is amazing and the collard greens are the best greens I've ever had. The staff is so friendly and welcoming as well. Can't say enough good things about this place and I'm so happy it's 5 mins away from my work!

Frederick A.

Yelp
The place is a little unusual in how the service works, but the food is fantastic barbeque fare. You walk in, go to a counter and place your order and pay for it, then seat yourself at any open table, and wait for your order to be brought to your table which takes only minutes. It comes served with the most basic dishes and silverware on an aluminum tray. Like I said, a little unusual, but wait till you taste the food! I had the pork spareribs which were absolutely delicious. Not too tender, and not too tough. Just perfect, especially with the sauces they have at every table. My wife had the brisket and it was too die for! Perfect and wonderful strong barbeque flavor. All the sides were typical, but top knotch tasting standards (cole slaw, beans, fries, and heavenly potato salad). Also l, don't miss out on the banana pudding! It's great!

Yelp
I like Danny's for a quick BBQ lunch option. On this visit I ordered the small sausage plate with house potato salad (sour cream based), green beans and applesauce. All plates come in a small or large size with two sides and a piece of texas toast. The sausage was so juicy and tender and the sides were good.
google avatar

Raymond B.

Yelp
Great food and service! The turkey is smoked to perfection. The sides are all really tasty!
google avatar

Jake P.

Yelp
I ended up here after a horrible experience at O Charley's. They made for a nice save! Simple place, but the food was good. I was looking for more of a after work hang out so I took the food to go and walked to a nearby bar. The brisket sandwich was great in the most simple way. Good fries! And the price was more than reasonable.
google avatar

Adriele B.

Yelp
Best BBQ around! Hands down. I'm so glad I found this place! Delicious food and nice people.

Bill K.

Yelp
Service was good. Been coming here 30 years. The last two times, the quality of food has declined. Specially, pulled pork was dry and lacked flavor - I had to drench it in sauce to get any taste at all. As noted in previous reviews, portion sizes have decreased and prices have increased disproportionately. Sad to say, we won't be returning.

Cathy L.

Yelp
Ordered catering for 40. Food was ready to go when we got there today right when they opened. The gentleman that helped us couldn't have been nicer. Loaded everything in the car and we were on our way in minutes. Everyone raved about the brisket! But honestly, the chopped pork, sausage, Mac & cheese, potato salad and cole slaw were excellent too. Thank you so much!

Yelp
Bottom line: I had a good beef brisket plate for lunch recently at Danny's Bar-B-Que. Do not be daunted by the line to the counter to order as the turn around time in getting your meal once ordered is pretty quick. Delicious results, and I am a fan! The Deets: I had the chance to finally visit Danny's Bar-B-Que for lunch recently with a group. There is plenty of parking around a corporate part/shopping center area. Once inside, there is ample seating available both in booth and table formats, some large enough for a small group. Customers queue up and wait in line to go up to the counter to order at the register, and while you are in line you get to peruse their rather sizeable menu up on the wall. There was a little bit of a wait to get to place the order as the line was good sized but it was not a horrible wait time. All sorts of Southern delights are available on their menu such as pulled pork barbeque, beef brisket, chicken tenders, chicken wings, turkey breast, smoked chicken, pork spare ribs, even catfish and beer battered cod on the menu. When I got to the counter, my choice was the small beef brisket plate with two sides and Texas toast (I always imagine in my head the pronunciation being "Tex-uz" and don't ask me why). I chose as my two sides the creamy cole slaw and French fries. We took our seat at our table and I have to say, turnaround time to get the food was really quick, a definite plus for lunch time goers. My beef brisket was pretty tasty and not dried out for the most part, very good, and enhanced by the availability of the different type of barbeque sauces available on the table such as sweet, hot, mustard style, etc. I recommend use of the sauces to maximize your taste experience here. The sides of cole slaw and French fries were equally good as well. I can see why many people I know say that you need to stop by Danny's Bar-B-Que if you have not done so, and I am glad I finally did.

Yelp
I was recently unexpectedly in Raleigh for an overnight trip and was looking for some Eastern North Carolina style BBQ. Yelp reviews led me to Danny's. This is not Eastern North Carolina style BBQ. I ordered the chopped pork and found it to be very dry and oversmoked. I tried several of the sauces (sorry I don't remember the names) one the vinegar sauce was overly sweet and the other (I think it was the house sauce) was very salty. The southern potato salad was full of onions and not very southern. The Brunswick Stew was ok and the hush puppies were delicious. The staff was all very friendly and checked on you often. That is a big positive for me, because of that I may go back if I'm in the area again and would try something a little different to give them another shot.

Yelp
My dad and I went there a long time ago and we didn't like it. The meat of the ribs were dry and had too much BBQ sauce on. It was too loud and very busy. I don't remember how long it took for the food to arrive. We went through like 2 drinks before they even served us. Not worth going back.

Heather L.

Yelp
Pretty good bbq Outstanding potato salad Had take out for first time and it was suggested to get potato salad- amazing! Person who guided me through the menu and made suggestions was super friendly and helpful Just wish portions were a bit bigger and hush puppies weren't an extra charge like most places and they were quite dry That's my only complaint Sauces were very good and nice selection
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
will have to try again, but pork was dry, hush puppies drier than a dessert too. everything I ordered seemed like it was reheated. what am I missing from here? what should I be getting?

Chris J.

Yelp
This is some of the best BBQ in the area! No matter what I order, it is always awesome. Brisket, pork, chicken, turkey- the only requirement is that you eat meat. Don't get me wrong; if you are a veterinarian, there are some excellent side options for you. Service has been mixed depending on who is working. Some days everyone is friendly and quick. Other days the servers are disconnected or distracted. Don't let this deter you though; the food is worth it.

Yelp
RUDE! I understand that everyone is shortstaffed right now. Most people are pretty understanding and try and work together. We were asked to meet our family at this restaurant. We are from out of state we've never been there before. We accidentally parked in the back entrance and there were signs indicating that you had to go to the front. Fine. They also made it clear that you ordered before you sat down. Fine. We knew there was going to be at least eight of us and there was only one table big enough to accommodate us all so we thought instead of getting in line we would sit down at the table and wait until we were all assembled. The owner came up to us and in a loud voice basically publicly "shamed us" and told us that we were not allowed to sit down. That we had to "get in line like everyone else". I swear If we were not meeting other people, we would've walked out immediately. On top of that they offered chicken and they didn't have any. They offered ribs and they didn't have any. The brisket that I had was dry and not very flavorful. Then while we were placing our order we overheard the owner complaining to someone else about our heinous infraction! I thought my husband was going to lose it. Based on the owners rude behavior alone I will never go back to this restaurant. He treated us like we were ignorant pigs or something. But frankly, the food wasn't good enough either! He could have handled it completely differently. Unbelievable!

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner tonight with a friend because he was craving BBQ and our usual place, Big Mike's, is closed on Mondays. Neither of us had been to Danny's before. We were greeted right away and you pre-pay for your food before sitting down. I ordered the pork sandwich with a side of potato salad and my friend ordered the beef brisket sandwich with fries. Our food came out quickly. Both of us thought the meat on our sandwiches was rather dry and the sauces we were provided didn't really help. The French fries were decent and we both really liked the potato salad. The sour cream in it provided a nice tang. While we weren't really impressed with the food, the staff was pleasant and the service was prompt. Who knows... could have been an off night for the food. If I go back I will try something different on the menu.

Yelp
Danny's a a monthly visit for us! Always great service and great food! I love their Texas toast chicken tender sandwich. Never disappointed when we go, and I can never finish my food!

Debbie P.

Yelp
We gave this another try, considering I had not visited in many years. The bbq was just okay. Not much flavor. It needed a lot of sauce due to dryness. The Brunswick Stew was not good. Luckily I asked for a sample beforehand. I ordered collards and they were cold. I asked server to microwave. She said they "dug to the bottom" and they should be good. They were still cold. It was near closing time so I think they had turned everything off, because both orders were cold. We had to pay $2.99 for House Autry hushpuppies that I believe were frozen. I'm guessing since they were all exactly then same size . But they were very good. The staff was not attentive. I suggest driving the extra mile for Stephensons. It's worth it.

Chris W.

Yelp
Food was fantastic! The staff was very nice. The pricing was very good. I had brisket and sausage. The sweet sauce was good as well as the hot bbq
google avatar

Leah L.

Yelp
Food is so great! I got the beef ribs with collards and southern potato salad. Some of the best collards I've had at a restaurant. Beef ribs were full of flavor and falling off the bone. I was so full. Lots of parking in the back, great lighting with a nice ambiance inside, and clean tables (not sticky). Employees are super nice and offer wonderful service. Highly recommend and will be coming back.
google avatar

Andy M.

Yelp
So I ordered the Texas toast smoked turkey lunch meal. Also a side of hush puppies. First the turkey sandwich was great. The toast not over cooked just soft enough. Smoked turkey was great also a little more smoke would have been nice but still very good. Fries are just that fries good but nothing special. Hush puppies are good also but not hand made but still good. The place is a little out of the way not easy to get to but worth the find. The atmosphere very homie and well maintained. The server was very cheerful and pleasant. Food was out very fast. I highly recommend this place and will be back to try the rest of the menu.

George M.

Yelp
I love BBQ, so when I see a place with 4 stars, I'm in. Brisket was dry, I complained, so they brought out a 1/3 of a replacement. If you're cutting that, wouldn't you know . The small 1/3 they brought out was good.
google avatar

Felicia C.

Yelp
On today my daughter was at the Cary location. The owner Danny was heard stating that Monkey Pox was for them and pointed at my child! She spent $16 on her meal but will never spend another dime in your establishment. How racist is that and how dare you insult anyone in this way. You are a business owner and should be ashamed. There is no email address on your website and with behavior like this I understand why. Signed a disgusted mother.
google avatar

Jacob G.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Reminded me of bbq back in Texas! Will be back if in the area again.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
I had forgotten about this little place and recently rediscovered it. Danny's has my favorite pork BBQ - it's always consistent, juicy, and full of flavor. Their assortment of sauces is perfect, and I love their sides. The BEST collards - not too sweet and no too much fat or oil. They have mustard potato salad I love (sour cream option if that's your jam). Plus I love the Texas toast. It's not buttery or oily but perfectly toasted on one side, which is awesome!
google avatar

Leanna R.

Yelp
Best ribs!!! My one and only go to when I'm craving ribs. They literally fall off the bone and their BBQ sauces are tasty! I've ordered the hush puppies as well, and they're good.
google avatar

Tom M.

Yelp
Some of the best brisket I ever had. Could've eaten it with no teeth it was so tender! Cole slaw on point. Fries fresh and hit. Highly recommend

Robert D.

Yelp
Awesome place to eat! Service is great and the brisket is outstanding! Wife lives there ribs, they fall off the bone
google avatar

Yelp
Came back to North Carolina and had to go here again. Great Bar-b-que!! Brisket, baked beans, southern potato salad and blackberry cobbler! What a combo. Everything else on the menu looks just as good but this is my favorite. Restaurant is clean, service is friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
I didn't want to go down south without grabbing some bbq. I yelped and I found some darn good bbq in Cary, NC! Danny's is in an industrial park and parking is limited, but the food is delicious. I ordered the two meat with beans and potato salad. The potato salad had bacon in it and the fish was catfish cooked to perfection. I also had the ribs which were amazing. I have to go back to NC and this will be my first stop. The staff was amazing and I had plenty of food to take home.
google avatar

Onvara A.

Yelp
Came here on a weeknight. Good food and prices. We had the BBQ baby back ribs but sadly they only had one full rack left, and so one of us ordered it. Also tried the Pork Spare Ribs (Dry Rubbed, St. Louis Style). Both delicious and huge servings. Each dish came with Texas Toast and a choice of two sides. We tried the Collards, Potato Salad, Brunswick Stew, and Coleslaw. Potato Salad and Brunswick Stew were my favorite sides.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great place! Tucked away in a shopping center off a busy road is a wonderful bbq place. My boyfriend had been here before, but this was my first time and I was impressed by the quality of the food and amazing service! The woman who rang up our order was more than happy to walk through the menu with me and the other server was attentive with checking on us and refilling our drinks. Both the boyfriend and I got the chopped pork plates - I got the southern potato salad & coleslaw, he got fries and fried corn. They have a multitude of flavorful bbq sauces to try from. Next time I think I'll try the hot bbq as they don't have any regular hot sauce. I love finding hidden gems like these! If you're craving some hickory smoked bbq, this is the place for you!
google avatar

Leslie Y.

Yelp
We supported Yelp's Big Night In at Danny's, which I've wanted to try but we never have. Ordered takeout, and we tried the pork bbq, potato salad, hushpuppies, fried okra, banana pudding and their blackberry cobbler. They got our order perfectly right and everything was hot! :) Stand-outs for us was the bbq - really nice and moist, the hushpuppies - just a tad sweet and perfectly fried, and the banana pudding I would choose over the fruit cobbler any day because that banana pudding rivals my mother-in-law's which I LOVE. Blackberry cobbler was just ok, nothing to rave about. Really enjoyed it and enjoyed supporting a local business during this coronavirus! They also have a catering menu so I would definitely think about this for a party!

Yelp
Over the course of 9yrs I have traveled all of the US from east to west and this BBQ joint is 100% my favorite! The staff make you feel welcome as you walk into this hardly noticeable joint. We ordered the Chopped Pork and got two sides, which we chose fries and coleslaw. The food was delivered to us in fantastic speed! They offer several house BBQ sauces. I have NEVER had any food this good! Highly recommended! Oh and price was really reasonable.
google avatar

Hannah P.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch at Danny's BBQ! I got the pulled pork plate with Brunswick stew and potato salad and Texas toast. This was a really good plate of food - flavorful pork (can add any sauce, comes dry with a great smoky flavor), creamy cold potato salad, and a classic Brunswick stew. This is also a very affordable place and very kid friendly. There's a lot of seating and the staff is friendly and checks in on refills. I would come back here for sure!
google avatar

Jonathan V.

Yelp
Don't bother placing orders on line. You get to wait in line with everyone else while your order has been filled and gets cold. Food itself is a solid mediocre.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
I came upon their place from searching on Yelp for BBQ. I'm so glad I did. The service was quick and the my lunch was so yummy. I ordered the brisket sandwich with potato salad and a side of hush puppies. Everything about my lunch was good. I will definitely be back.

Tom T.

Yelp
Decent for the price and service. Location is near many shops and grocery stores but can be difficult sometimes to find because it is at the back of a somewhat congested area.
google avatar

Rayshawn T.

Yelp
I got the catfish with two sides. The fish was blend and needed to be seasoned. It was not bad for the price (12.99).

Nancy H.

Yelp
The service was fine but the brisket and chopped pork were dry. I tried almost ever sauce on the table with it but none of them paired well with the meat. In addition to the meat being dry it was very bland, little flavor at all. The potato salad was average, the baked beans were good as was the Texas toast ( which was only toasted on one side, not sure why they would do this. As far as ambiance, there is none. Service was quick but that isn't enough to have me go back. This wasn't my first time here and the one consistent thing is their mediocrity.
google avatar

Chuck F.

Yelp
I had a 2 meat plate. The sides of potato salad and baked beans were pretty good. The pulled pork was fine but the brisket was very disappointing. Not much flavor on it and very dry

Katie Y.

Yelp
Good, consistent and tasty barbecue! Been a customer for years. Food is always tasty and fresh!
