I dream about this pizza. Best slice of "new york" style pizza I've had. I wish I lived closer and could eat it more often. I stumbled upon this place once and became an instant favorite. I cant say enough good things about this pizza. Would give zero stars if I could based on the fact that it is 40 miles form my house. Would give 100 stars or 25 five star reviews if I could based on how this pizza is better than drugs. I love Dantes.

Really nice people working here. Me and my friend came here for lunch, and after our food was brought out the employee let us know the dough ripped a little bit. He told us he was going to make us a second pizza to take home with us, which was really cool. The pizza was really good, the people were even better.

Hate to write this because I love to support local, and this is the closest pizza to my apartment. I stopped in to takeout a slice while on a walk with my dog. Upon entering the empty restaurant, no greeting, the man at the counter didn’t even look up. The other man who took my order and put my take out bag through the window didn’t even bother to look at me or reply to me both times I told him thank you. I walked out stunned tbh. Worst customer service I’ve had since moving to Chicago. Had a bad taste in my mouth before even seeing the slice. Pizza was average.

Never order delivery! One of my slices was missing. I ordered onion, green pepper and mushrooms on the other. It looks like they thru raw ingredients on top of an already baked cheese pizza. It arrived cold.

Came here for a quick bite near closing time. Ordered their vegan slice with "sausage" which was huge. I've actually never had vegan pizza so I don't have any comparisons but it was pretty good. Their pesto cheese bread was buttery and flakey. I would get it again!

I kept seeing and passing by Dante’s but I can’t eat dairy so I never tried it and some dairy free pizzas are just sad. NOT DANTE’S! My friend said they tried the vegan pizza and told me how delicious it was, so I had to try it finally! I ordered the vegan build your own pizza and I’m now Dante’s new biggest fan!! This pizza is HUGE and OMG SO GOOD! I ordered it for pick up but they are BYOB so I’ll definitely be coming back MANY MANY times! 1000% check this place out!!

We got two of the slices of the day and cookies. The slices had a thin, somewhat floppy crust, but still had a crunch. The bready edge of the crust was nice and big and crunchable. Service was friendly and the cookies were nice too. Dante's is a good place for a casual slice.

Legendary pizza, even more legendary chocolate chip cookies. Excellent vegan options. An overall slam dunk.

Huge pizzas with slices available but too often I find the underside burned and the toppings kind of stingy.

Ordered a slice of the day and a small house salad to go. Service was kind and the wait was reasonable to get it ready! The slice of the day had a garlic white sauce, mushrooms, and tomato. It was cheesy and flavor wise was delicious. I found the crust on the sweeter side. It was dry and difficult to chew, my jaws were pretty sore and could only get through 1/4 of the crust at the top. Overall not terrible but not wonderful. Portions are quite large if you like good value!

Always order take out. Never a problem and pizza always on point. Delicious, I love they sell pizza by the slice is great

Thanks all for a great couple pizzas for the family. For thin crust pizza, I'll nominate you for Figure 1, Chapter 1 in the book of thin crust. Solid pizza, really nice crust and fold. Dante's Pizzeria: My friends and loyal followers know that I'm all about pan, stuffed, and Chicago style pizza. Making things even more unusual about this pizza choice was that I was actually in Chicago. So, why did I opt for New York style pizza while in the windy city? It's simple, the friend I was visiting said it was the best New York style slices in Chicago. If it's the best, then I've got to try it. I only got an individual slice, but it was massive! It took up the entire pizza pan it was served on. For those of you from MKE, the size was comparable to Classic Slice. I should warn you that the slices come out super-hot. It's my fault since I'm so used to getting pizza to go, but I did burn my mouth on my first bite. Although the crust was thinner than I tend to prefer, it was still surprisingly chewy. Being the cheesehead that I am, I went with a simple cheese pizza. While there wasn't anything wrong with the cheese, there wasn't as much as I tend to prefer on my slices. For me, the pizza was just okay, but the service was fine and I think most people would enjoy the pizza. Due to my bias for thicker crust and tons of cheese I'm going to give this a dual rating of just okay (me, 3 stars) as well as approved (most people, 5 stars). Doughboy_Food_Reviews

This place is CRAZY good. But FYI- the pizzas are huge!!! Came in to grab lunch, 2 vegans and a meatlover, and Dante's could accomodate us both! We ended up getting The Beatrice- Vegan style and The Minos which is all the meat. We figured what ever we didnt eat, pizza leftovers are always the best! I recommend grabbing a pie here- you will not regret it!

Dante's is a terrific little pizzeria on Armitage. It's definitely not your ordinary pizza, as they have a big variety of toppings, some which are plant based. Just know there's no alcohol, only pop. Also has delivery. They have pizza by the slice or whole. Armitage location is the original Dante's. It has a newer one next to High Dive that also has beer and liquor. This one only has pop, and is more of a traditional looking pizzeria. As for the pizza, it's a good deal. It's $6 for the daily vegan slice. This kind of pizza can be whatever. Also the slices are big. These are about twice the size of a normal slice. Also you can get whole pizzas, vegan or with regular meat and cheese. The whole pizzas are quite expensive at $20 or more, so that's why to get slices and save a lot. Get pick up or delivery. It's better getting it done in because the pizza is better hot. The only bad thing is they have no alcohol, so oh well, you have to be okay with pop and pizza.

OKG have you seen the SIZE of that thing? "That's what she said" HHaha had to add that in there ;) But no seriously it's HUGEE! I added a picture next to my husband and my husband is a big 6 footer guy so yeah that pizza is half is size in diameter! If you are having a party then this place is it! The reason I took 1 star off is it wasn't warm when it arrived. For it being summer months as well there was really no excuse for it to be room temp to touch. Infact, I had to put it in the oven to rewarm it. Anyway other my suggestion? If you have a party at home this is a great deal!

Did you just move to Chicago and can't seem to find "NY style" pizza? When you ask locals, do they just point you to a place that serves "tavern style" and then look at you like you're crazy when you try to explain that just because something isn't "deep dish," that doesn't automatically make it "NY style?" Well, stop searching, because this place has the pizza you're looking for. And thank heavens we finally found it. We had to toil through so many different "cracker-crust / too-much-cheese / thin-yet-not-NY" pizzas in Chicagoland before we found Dante's. We went out of our way to go here, and we will continue to.

ordered a stromboli, side salad, and a drink online, and i only got the stromboli. it took 10 more minutes from when it said it would be ready. the stromboli tasted good though

Tried this spot for the first time while visiting Chicago. We got a Large Pepperoni and cheese pizza. The pizza was a mouthwatering delight, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. Each bite was a symphony of textures and tastes, from the crispy crust to the gooey cheese and the huge pepperoni was delicious. It was a culinary masterpiece that left our family craving for more. The service was spectacular, the server was very kind, and ran to get the door for me. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, with a tasteful and inviting atmosphere. You will not be disappointed.

The pizza is bland and not a place I plan to revisit again. I like the idea of pizza by the slice but found this pizza to be underwhelming.

Easily my favorite place to grab an individual slice. There's a little bit of a drop off when ordering delivery, so I usually scarf down when it's fresh outta the oven. The crust is thin, charred, and crisp. ..nice flavor too with the addition of oregano. They're using quality ingredients and the service has always been friendly. Can't ask for much more. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. Actually. .. worth a special trip if you're within 25 mins.

Food was pretty good can't quite remember what I had exactly.. I feel like it was sausage pizza, fries & drink but then I think I might have tried a beef or pasta here as well.. this was about 1.5 years ago.. inside was dark & chill I'll say

I visited Dante's Pizzeria recently and had a very good plain cheese + basil pie (20" - their only size option.) Iconic and rich New York-style flavor, great color on the undercarriage, well-proportioned sauce and cheese, and super friendly staff. Obviously for a 20" pie the slices were HUGE, which led to some unavoidable flop. The center of the pizza had zero crisp with quite a bit of flop/grease, although the crisp/chew ratio did improve substantially after those first 2-3 bites. I'd rate the Dante's slice a solid 7.5/10. I think if they offered a 16" option, it would likely reduce the flop/grease in the middle and raise the score substantially.

Geryon pizza so good. Maker made the crust thin and it had a hole and unfortunately came undone while eating. The pizza maker was really nice to make us another which I ate for leftovers. The staff was friendly and informative when I had a question about the sandwiches, which I will get next time. The restaurant was empty so I didn't have to wait much for my pizza. I love ordering from here. Great service and great food!

This place used to be amazing. Delicious pizza, incredible mozzarella sticks. The order I got tonight was awful- I ordered extra cheese and got... barely any cheese. The mozzarella sticks have changed, now they're garbage Applebees mozzarella sticks now with half of them missing all their cheese and they had the audacity to raise the price. Go to Dimo's for better pizza, never ordering from here again

Great pizza. Me and my daughter's favorite pizza. Great customer service from the phone calls to the delivery guy even when you go in to pay. The people are nice.

We had been wanting to try Dante's ever since I found out they have vegan pizza. They have new York style pizza, each one is 20" and can be customized. We ordered one cheese pizza for the kids which they liked and a vegan pizza for myself and my husband.

Good place to grab a slice or order a pie. They staff is great, it's quick and easy to just stop in and get a slice, and they have some interesting options as well! Definitely put it on your list of places to try.

What self respecting Chicagoan doesn't like deep dish? Me. After 10 years of living in this city, I still just don't get it. NY style pizza, on the other hand... I had heard that Dante's makes the best NY style pizza in Chicago, and it definitely didn't disappoint. First of all, the pie is HUGE. I could barely get the box out the door. Secondly, the fact that they let you do 50/50 with toppings is nice. The only complaint I can think of is that we had requested pepperoni on one side, and they gave us pineapple. We ordered from the Chicago Ave location btw. It still tasted great, and my husband happens to love pineapple on pizza so we honestly didn't mind, but it could've been a more serious offense if it was an ingredient we were allergic to or didn't like. We also ordered the wings and they were fantastic. Had a nice kick to them. Would definitely recommend ordering. Despite our best efforts, my husband and I weren't even able to finish half the pizza in one meal. This is probably the right size for 4-5 people or 2 people who don't mind having leftovers for a few days. Definitely give Dante's a try if you like NY pizza!

Vegan pizza is 100% deliciousness and worth making a special trip to get your hands on it. Even non-vegan patrons would enjoy the flavor and texture here.

If your criteria for a great pizza is size, Dante's should be your go to place. All pizzas are 20". Stop a minute, get out a ruler and measure 20". I'll wait....OK. See what I'm saying? Massive!! Now, think about how big the box has to be to hold that beast. Almost impossible to get it out of their door!! So, from a value perspective this place reigns supreme. It's all NY style pizza which I like. The crust is appropriately thin but doesn't quite meet my exacting standards for taste and crunch. Toppings are good but they cover the pizza with oregano. Or at least that's my experience. The most prominent topping on our last pizza was oregano. Dry, flake oregano that gets all over everything when you pick up a slice. I'd prefer they didn't do that at all. Pretty good pizza, massive size to satisfy your cravings, and a good value. Not a bad option for your next order. Ask them to hold the oregano.

Pizza so ginormous that you can't get the box out their door without tilting it when you do carry out. When we got it home and opened the box, we couldn't believe our eyes. Was it the best New York style pizza I've ever had? Not really but, it was pretty tasty. Worth getting again for the price, definitely. The only thing I objected to was the massive amount of oregano shaken onto the crust. We had oregano everywhere after we ate our pizza - all over the counters, the floor and ourselves. Think I'll ask them to skip that part next time.

This place is one of my favorite pizza places. I love how you can order a few slices or whole pizza. I ordered a side salad and a couple slices of sausage pizza.

This transplanted NYer found the cheese slice ok. Painfully overpriced. Chicken parm sandwich was mediocre. Not the right roll. Too soft which was made mushy by the sauce.

Ordered for pick up tonight and pizza was on time and amazing. Employees were super nice, enough said except Hail Satan! Order from here now.

I found out about Dante's through the Barstool Chicago pizza march madness post a while ago and they are NY style slices. I love deep dish pizza, but can only eat it about 4 times a year as it puts me into a food coma. While I can eat NY style pizza every week. Since i just moved to Bucktown/Logan Square, I had to try Dante's immediately. I ordered delivery and it arrived on time and it was hot/fresh. I ordered the Geryon, which had sausage, spinach, and ricotta. Pies are about $28-$32, but these are massive pies at 20 inches and can easily feed 4 people. They are similar to Paulie Gee's. The crust was great with zero flop. The cheese and the sauce were amazing as well. The toppings were very good, but I have had better toppings in Chicago. The oregano was an interesting take. I like oregano so I didn't mind it, but I see why it can turn some people off. They offer individual slices as well if you are in the area. Overall, great pizza especially if you like thin crust. Definitely give it a try!

WOW why have I not tried this place sooner?! If you want some delicious thin NY style pizza, this is the place to go!! The pizzas here are MASSIVE (20 inches). One slice is bigger than a plate, but hey that's just New York pizza. One of these pizzas can easily feed 4 people. We ordered the Minos (meat pizza) and loved it. The red sauce is so flavorful and there's plenty of hot melted cheese. This pizza reminds me of my childhood and growing up on the east coast. I haven't found any other places here in Chicago that taste just like the pizza I had growing up. Def makes my top 3 pizza spots in the city.

As an ex-pat New Yorker, I am always seeking out a true New York Slice. This place is relaxed and open. You order at the bar and they bring to your table. I get the feeling this place does a larger take out business than eat in. The pizza was great, very thin Crust; Sturdy and foldable; crunchie with a good chew; yup, that's NY pizza! My son prefers Jimmy's with a slightly thicker crust. I also ordered caprese salad which was tasty and fresh. The decor is well, devilish. I will vote Dante's, but I will likely get overridden.

A secret worth sharing, if you aren't aware of this particular jewel. It's been in the neighborhood a while but for any of a given number of reasons, we didn't really discover it until the delivery of food became ubiquitous in 2020-21. Pleasantly surprised and enjoyed. We've been back several times since the world reopened. We keep our orders simple but we've never been disappointed. Our long term mission is to try a little bit of everything from their menu.

Got 2 vegan slices they were pretty good, I'll probably spin back and grab a whole pie next time. Service was good too

3.5 star is my true rating. Ordered delivery from here on a Saturday night. Not bad, only took an hour. First off the pizzas are HUGE here, 4 people can easily split 1 pizza. The two pizzas we ordered were the Minos, and Minotaur. The Minos had a ton of meat, and the crust was done well. It was very salty though, to the point that I could only eat a half a piece. The Minotaur was better, beware it is spicy. I enjoyed the giardiniera and sausage. Pizza was less salty and I was able to enjoy. Overall place is solid, but better pizza places in the neighborhood.

I'm so glad Dante's has stayed strong in the community. I can always trust they will have fresh, hot, and delicious pizza by the slice and ready to be devoured.

Great pizza with fast delivery. They only have one size f-ing huge and its all you need.

Some friends and I checked out this spot recently. This place has a no frills type of atmosphere. Many people tend to carry out, but there are also a few tables in case you would prefer to eat in. We ordered the inferno pizza and I liked it a lot more than I expected. The inferno is a little "topping heavy", but everything on this pizza was well thought out.

It's dangerous this spot is less than a 5 minute walk from my apartment, because it just means I take out dinner here more than I should admit. Nonetheless, Dante's makes some bomb ass NY style pizza. I love how huge the slices are. Prepare for greasy, cheesy goodness in every bite. Pro tip: follow their Facebook page for daily updates and pictures on the slice of the day. They always get so creative with them.

Awesome, tasty, foldable, HUGE pizzas. I'm a big fan of Dante's! Especially because of the vegan toppings they offer- my favorite is the vegan sausage, but the vegan pepperoni was also great. This has become one of my top pizza places in Chicago!

Was very pleased. I'm from out of town and was dog sitting for a friend, thought I'd order myself a pizza, and what a delicious pizza I got! I got the pizza before they said I would, so I was very pleased with service and product. Highly recommend!

Thanks to whoever turned my pizza slice into a giant ball of grease and cheese..More than a half of this slice is inedible because of the ton of mozzarella that even knife cant cut in pieces. I mean, I like mozza but didn't expect a fist-like chunk of melted mozzarella folded in the slice. Grose! It is too hard to digest. Also how do you fold heated pizza straight from the oven? Did I ordered calzone?! Wtf Dante's?! And it was just last week that I ate super delicious slice of cheese with black olives.. I guess it depends on the crew behind the bar..

I love anywhere that does pizza by the slice. I've had the cheese and it was good. Foldable and huge. But the vegan pizza slice was inedible. Just extremely, extremely bad pizza, seriously don't order it. That said, I don't hold it against them because I think that's inherent to the oxymoron of "vegan pizza". Super easy to walk in and and order, and it was under five minutes wait both times I've been there recently. I'll be back to try their full pizzas.

This is a great local pizza spot. I used to live around the corner from it and we'd walk in on nights we were too tired to cook. First and foremost, you get your money's worth. Big slices and big pizzas for a good price. They also have a lot of rotating specials and specialty pizzas you can try, along with the classics like cheese and pepperoni. We never had a bad experience here in half a dozen plus visits. They may not be fancy, but they will hit the spot whenever you're craving pizza.

Just moved in around the corner from Dante's and find myself going there way too often. Amazing slices, and the chicken parm is off the chain. Great for carry out -- I always call in and it's fresh and ready in 15 minutes. Highly highly recommend

This pizza is pretty fucking awesome. The crust is like the best bread, crispy on the outside, moist and chewy inside...but really thin....and topped with tastiness. We got the vegan inferno....may be one of best vegan pizzas ever....the cheese is melty and the vegan meats are nicely seasoned. The gent that served us was friendly and attentive ...but not hovering...please go visit them. Support local business

Excellent pizza. Had the bbq chicken. Tastes authentic and the slices are huge. Will definitely have again when visiting my daughter in the city.
