The Most Fun Seattle Bars - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Between the phenomenal cocktails, friendly bartenders, and palpable big-night-out energy, we’ve never met a bar that we wanted to make “our bar” more than Daphnes in Edmonds. On a Friday evening, the 15-seat space is a cramped sardine tin singalong party. On an otherwise-snoozy Monday, their L-shaped marble counter gets full fast. Come for textbook versions of coupe drinks like aviators and corpse reviver number twos, a frothy off-menu jungle bird, or just a platter of melted brie and baguette. That's their only dish—but it's what you wanted with that French 75 anyway." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

We absolutely love Daphne‘s. Desmond is a fixture here. I cannot say that he has ever steered us wrong with the drinks that we have explored. He was the one that actually turned us onto a Czech mule. It’s like a Moscow, but with some very specific liquor. (honestly I can’t remember what it is at the moment although it’s good I will update later if I can recall.) I would highly recommend Daphne’s bar without reservation . We have had such a wonderful time here together. We also love how small the circle of people is here because of the capacity.. Everyone that is in the bar kept chanting “ COME ON IN “ We have had an exceptional experience every time we have had drinks at Daphne‘s .

Google
Wonderful cocktail bar in Edmonds. You’ll feel like you’re in some teeensy cocktail club in Paris back in the day. The bartenders are amazing and will chat up the entire room. Be aware that: 1.) There is extremely limited seating. Maybe a dozen people at most? 2.) Despite the small size and small crowd, this room is so small that it gets very loud. 3.) The cocktails are the stars. I had a Mrs. Robinson which was delightful and the Trinidad Airlines which was so good that we are now trying to reverse engineer it for ourselves at home. If you like Paris and cocktails then you’ll love Daphnes!

Google
Really nice bar for a cocktail. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The waiter was genuinely welcoming and helpful without being pushy. Really a great feeling. My drink was good but not great. Maybe it was just my choice of a new drink. I’ll try again and see how it turns out and update if needed. Regardless, I think this place is worth checking out.

Absolutely love Daphne’s in Edmonds! The warm, lively staff makes every visit unforgettable. The old-fashioned charm creates the perfect cozy atmosphere. Truly a hidden gem for great drinks and vibes!

Google
First time visiting Daphne's with my son, Marcus was our bartender and he came up with a drink I loved way too much! 🤣 I'm not a big drinker, but he knocked it out of the park using an Elderberry liquor that my son and I will be back for. It's even my son's new preferred drink. Marcus is a delight and sets the tone for a laid back, welcoming atmosphere in this 150 year old building that's beautifully maintained.

Google
This place by far is the pinnacle of all cocktails in the entire Western Washington region. I've tried to find anything that can compare.. Daphne's is stand alone. The quality is unsurpassed. I don't know what it is they're doing over there. But it's the best I've ever had anywhere. I didn't even used to like cocktails. I have been a steady beer guy all my life. Since trying Daphne's a couple weeks ago. I stopped drinking beer. It put a whole new spin on cocktails for me. At the same time it kind of ruined cocktails from anywhere else. Any other place I go to get a cocktail I'm kind of disappointed. Daphne's is it!!!!

Google
WE. LOVE. DAPHNES BAR! It’s super small which is one of its greatest charms. The staff are always so incredibly nice and helpful with their recommendations. Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area. Perfect evening to be had.

Google
Hole in the wall delight! Craft cocktails is why you come, trying another is why you might stay, witty banter might be another reason. Overhearing conversations and responding is the norm, so be open to it, this is not a place for private conversation. It's one of the reasons we will be back, we love the random. Please note there are only 4 tables and ten bar stools and it is first come first serve.

Yelp
Walking around Main Street in Edmonds. I have my two childhood friends from the UK. Wanted to show off the food scene here in Edmonds. We walked around and even stopped together a physic reading. She interpreted my reading as I have negative energy around me, that I need to rise above. Whew, need a good drink after this dismal news. My friends were happy with Salt and Iron. I believe they thought the food was too fussy, but I loved it. They were appreciative of the food. So we kept walking afterwards. However, here is where they gave the highest marks in satisfaction. This is a small space, where you feel welcome once you enter. They have managed to create a special city oriented spot, nested in the middle of a more surburan setting. What you first notice as you walk in, is the setting. Decorations on the walls have musical instruments, such as old vintage and antique guitars and other stringed instruments. Great to browse. Vintage event flyers are also among the decorations. There's a great food menu. I ordered the cheeseboard plate, which came with an excellent variety of cheeses. My friends dived into ordering a variety of drinks. They loved the services of the friendly bartender, who made some delicious recommendations on drinks for them. Frankly, we spent several hours here and they could have stayed many more hours. Music was relaxing, they played a variety of older jazz, which they loved. The uniqueness of this spot was well loved by my friends. The great service, wonderful and creative cocktails and a setting where they could relax was truly appreciated. A nice stretch of pace for me, this is a place I pr wouldn't have gone to on my own, but loved being here.

Yelp
Daphnes will be our new habit when in Edmonds. A lovely little pocket bar with a few tables, bar seating, and sidewalk tables. This is the great kind of place where you walk in and instantly start a conversation with the stranger next to you. Our bartender was friendly and fast, making up some great craft cocktails. Hubby had the Moscow Mule and my lemon drop was fresh and light. We could have stayed all night long!

Yelp
It is located in the best town of Edmonds Washington. Great vibe. It's dark but also a very cute bar where they serve my favorites like the Moscow mule for example. Not only that, they also serve cheeseboard plates and is a handsome portion. You get a nice Daphne's postcard which is also very cute a nice touch. Hours may vary that's the only thing. Otherwise, it's a very friendly bar and you can easily talk to anyone and have nice conversations while sipping your favorite scotch or whatever you may fancy. Don't miss this quaint and very cute bar.

Yelp
Amazing spot! Very fun ambience. Smaller space, may get full pretty quick on weekends. Drinks are incredible and servers are friendly.

Yelp
The absolute cutest hole in the wall little cocktail bar! Reminded me of being back in Europe with the vibe and atmosphere. Bartender we had was so kind and made the experience extra great! Perfect spot for a cocktail before or after dinner!

Yelp
A tiny little treat in the small town of Edmonds! This uber tiny bar is crafting up some great cocktails for pre/post dinner fun! But be prepared to have to stalk a seat, cause it fills up fast!! It's fun to watch the mixing and shaking right up close and the mixologists really get into what they're doing while trying their best to maintain an attentive air with their cocktail consumers. It's loud in there for sure, but it's more of a show than a place to have a conversation with your partner(s) in crime. We had a few rounds before heading out to dinner. I love whiskey and bourbon and their rendering of the classics I got were well received. So grab a friend or a date and stop on in. What I've had: SAZERAC: Cognac, Peychauds Bitters, Simple, Absinthe Rinse LIONS TAIL: Bourbon, All Spice Dram, Lime, Bitters

Yelp
Small in size but with a ton of personality! Tasty craft drinks served by a colorful and friendly staff. A great place for date night.

Yelp
What a great LITTLE hidden gem. Dez is fantastic bartender and host. Super friendly joint, great cocktails, awesome vibe, great music selection. Loved it. Will definitely be back often!

Yelp
I adore this spot. It's special. The drinks are special, the service is special, the atmosphere is special. It's tiny, but it's everything it needs to be. It's worth the wait.

Yelp
What an awesome hole in the wall!! We came to have some drinks and we're greeted like celebrities. The bartenders are super attentive and interactive. The space is smaller than small but that's exactly what makes it so unique. The ambiance is super cool and inviting. The music also helps to set the tone...very swing dance type of music. When you visit, don't forget to look around at the decor...lots of fun old pictures and fun little things ;)
google avatar

Yelp
What everyone else said! Bartenders, patrons... all are here for a good time in a tiny space with a ton of personality and quirkyness! Drinks are great (otherwise they have a full bar if you have your standards) and you will leave having made several new friends. I met BFF here for an early drink on a Saturday in late (last) September (2023, yet another belated review... finally catching up!) before we moved on to a local place for a quick dinner. She had to leave early to catch a ferry to her bf's place, but I came back solo to have a nightcap before heading home. I was feeling a bit blue when I arrived (long story) but there was an empty stool in the packed bar somehow waiting for me and I was quickly immersed in interesting conversations with the people around me. Later in the night, I was also able to scam a slice of Moto pizza (apparently Daphnes and Moto barter and when it was known that I had never managed to snag a try at Motos I was gifted a slice, and I tipped extra generously to show my appreciation!) It's a great place for a solo date... there is no awkwardness at coming here alone! And I think it's actually better for snagging that (single) seat more quickly and meeting new people!

Yelp
This is a tiny bar usually packed with crowd but worth stopping for a few drinks. You may stand for your first couple but eventually a seat or two would open up. The crowd is lively the bar tenders are friendly and the drinks are very nice. A must go in the area for a night out.

Yelp
Seems like a place where memories and mistakes are made. I've made both. But seriously.

Yelp
Visiting this small town for whale watching tour. But Daphnes is the real reason to visit. Wow! Very quaint bar with Speakeasy vibes. Anthony!!! Best bartender/mixologist I've ever experienced. The hustle, the charisma, the confidence! All Gold stars!!! (This guy needs a major raise! Like now!) We travel the world, and have NEVER met someone so dedicated and full of pizazz. He had the entire place full the entire time we were here. His multitasking abilities are inhuman. What a badass! This place brings this little town to life. I would literally come back to Seattle strictly to visit this little town bar. Great job! 10 stars!

Yelp
Such a fun place to visit in downtown Edmonds. It's like a speak easy. Ryan was our server, very friendly and attentive. The place has New York vibe . It has a 40's 50's feel to it . Cool tunes (40's 50's )playing while you chill here. This the second time I've been here , and worth coming back . The decor makes you feel you've been transported to different time era , and genre.

Yelp
Finally got to go to THE Daphne's Bar in Edmonds, and the experience did NOT disappoint. They really know how to party over there (especially Dez - always in style). Ordered pretty much the whole menu (whoops), but I would say my favorites were the Moscow Mule and Aviation. Pictured is the Aviation and Sazerac with a cheese board. The space is small, but with the additional COVID outdoor patio, they've doubled their capacity! They have heaters outdoors, so it really makes it a nice spot to hangout.
google avatar

Yelp
A hidden gem in Edmonds. My friends took me there, with admonitions on how to jump to get seats. The bar gets packed and it's every creature for themself. This is a true local's bar with high end cocktails. Becky was a great server. Go.
google avatar

Clark M.

Yelp
Great cocktails, wonderful ambiance and the staff are very entertaining! A great date night spot!
google avatar

Holly M.

Yelp
Wow!! This place is top notch! The staff is the most friendly that I've encountered in a very long time. You walk in and they are so inviting from the start. It was my friends birthday and they even sang happy birthday and the whole bar joined in. It was a really fun atmosphere and the customers were extremely nice too! Just a fun night all around! My friends are new to edmonds so this will be a local stop for them for sure! The drinks were spot on too! Best bar in town!!!

Yelp
One word: DEZ. Like everyone else here has mentioned, Dez is the star of the show. If it's your first time at Daphnes he will tell the entire bar who will clap and welcome you. It's not a big place as there are about 10 bar seats, a couple tables inside, and a couple tables outside. It's very intimate and everyone is a local and a regular but are very friendly. He is very entertaining and is the epitome of friendliness and great hospitality. I ordered the sazerac ($11.50), Manhattan ($12), aviation cocktail ($11), and the old fashioned ($11). All the drinks that I got were good but I think my favorites were the sazerac and the aviation cocktail. I wanted to try as many different drinks on the menu as possible. I wasn't able to but I know I will be back to Daphnes, either for Dez or the drinks. Just kidding, definitely both.
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
Highly recommend, fun place to grab a drink in the area, although it's small there's even more space for outdoor seating now. Love the traditional bar vibe and very attentive service. We had a super friendly bartender that suggested the corpse reviver and old fashioned cocktails, and we happily obliged! The corpse reviver is no joke, it's a strong one and has a taste of absinthe.
google avatar

Karlo G.

Yelp
First things first, there's a special way to order a Moscow Mule: "Hey Dez, I'll have a spank the mint." This bar is literally the size of our living room. It's cozy, lively, and is a local favorite. The bar top can seat up to 9, the booths up to 3, and outdoor seating up to 8. They specialize in craft cocktails and lively conversations. Our bartender, Dez, does a great job of keeping bar top conversations going while greeting customers. It's fun to simply sit back and enjoy a few rounds while laughing at random topics with fellow bar patrons. Their drinks are phenomenal! I've tried their Corpse Reviver 2, Aviation Cocktail, Cablegram, Dez 75, and Sazerac. I recommend the Dez 75, which is their own recipe. The Aviation Cocktail is also a good and sweet choice. The Corpse Reviver 2 had the perfect amount of absinthe. The Cablegram is similar to Moscow Mule except with whiskey. I recommend coming in early as the bar gets busy during dinner time. This bar is both entertaining with a cozy ambience.

Yelp
Come for the mystery, stay for the show! Daphne's is one of the finest bars I've frequented on the West Coast. Nestled cozily in Edmonds, a suburb of Seattle, the unassuming watering hole shines for various reasons. Mostly it's for the barkeep, Dez, a radiant man oozing with character it's contagious. From the outside, you have zero idea what you're walking into. I almost don't want to describe Daphne's in too much detail. The allure and the mystery are what keeps it magical. Two tables and eight barstools make this place one of the most "locals-only" bars I've set foot in. The cocktail menu focuses on classic cocktails and they're all made Dez' way. They're not the best cocktails you'll find in Seattle, but it doesn't matter. The show, the singing, the atmosphere amplify the drinks into something special. Boulevardier was served up, which I've never seen before, and it tasted mighty fine. Beer menu reminds me of McSorleys -- if you know you know. Dez greeted us, applauded us, and coined me and my lady as "Hunk" and "Sweet Pea." A once in a lifetime experience that I won't forget anytime soon.
google avatar

Thomas R.

Yelp
What a posh little lounge Daphnes is. It reminds me of the tiny bars one finds in Paris. The art-deco touches impart a ritzy, european vibe that smacks of sophistication. You'll feel it as soon as you enter. Three of us had a great time over drinks on Saturday around four o'clock as it drizzled outside. Inside, the eight bar stools and two banquettes filled quickly; it was packed 20 minutes after opening. Like a cross between a speak-easy and a private clubroom, you'll need to get in early, or hold off until later, if you want to raise a glass at Daphnes. Check out the clever cocktail menu. Dark rum is stocked, so sailors, pirates, and the cool kids are in luck. Don't plan on dining here, but if you're thirsty in Edmonds and looking for a classy joint, Daphnes is your spot. I love this place.
google avatar

Alyssa T.

Yelp
My friend brought me here and now I am obsessed. It feels like a 'Cheers' bar where everyone knows your name, everyone is excited you're there, and someone will make room for you at the bar. Special shout out to Dez (pictured) - you are so cool and so amazing!!! We love y
google avatar

Nyles S.

Yelp
An absolute hidden gem. The bartender, Dez, was an excellent mixologist, and an even better entertainer. Quaint environment, no tvs, and a small well designed space makes for great conversations and connections by all who have the pleasure of being there. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Jackie W.

Yelp
Daphne's may look small from the outside, but it is a well-known local favorite, and one of my all-time favorite spots for cocktails in the greater Seattle area. The drinks are delicious, and Desmond the bartender is simply the best. He's friendly, funny, and goes out of his way to bring people together. Even during covid when we're all socially distanced outside, he still finds away to make all of his customers feel welcomed and appreciated. Our favorite drinks are the Aviation cocktail and the Lion's Tale, and we're already looking for an excuse to go back for more fun!
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The bartender is always dapper and has excellent service and forever entertaining. The ambiance is 50's chic and so cute. However, it's tiny inside. Two tables and about eight bar stools and two additional tables outside. It can be hard to find a place to sit but definitely worth it!
google avatar

Tammy E.

Yelp
Love this spot! My friend brought me here as a first timer and Desmond welcomed me in right away! His charming smacking of the mint was hilarious and the strong delicious beverages were a hit! I only wish they served food here so we didn't have to leave for dinner! Looking forward to future visits when I'm in Edmonds - this is a must visit spot for anyone who likes good libations and a warm friendly atmosphere where everyone literally knows your name! Cheers!
google avatar

Brittainy B.

Yelp
Micah and Dez are the best!! I love everyone who works here. Post-Covid: they have lots of outdoor seating (more than that had before! Drinks I recommend: all of them! No seriously, I love Aviation, Monarch and Lion's Tail (perfect for cold days- it's warm and fuzzy with the spices) Yum.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
Perfect place to stop for a drink on our way to dinner in Edmonds. I took my friend out for her birthday, and Daphne's was the perfect first stop. The cutest little bar, with a timeless and clean atmosphere. We loved our drinks. I got the Corpse Reviver No. 2 and she got the Lionstail. Both were super yummy. Anthony our bartender made great recommendations and made us feel so welcome. I'm absolutely coming back here next time I'm stepping out with a friend for drinks.
google avatar

Pradnya B.

Yelp
Desmond is the man!! I go here because he makes it a fun time to be there at Daphne's. Palomas is a perfect drink with a serious kick of alcohol. I have been early to late nights and the service is super excellent all the time even without Desmond. Decent beers from local breweries, music, and fun. What more do you want. This will always be my go-to bar.
google avatar

Kellyn B.

Yelp
It was my first time here and Desmond made it a night to remember! It's such a warm and loving atmosphere the second you walked in, and he made sure to get to know me and grab my name. He had the whole bar clap for me when he said it was my first time. Loved every second.
google avatar

Terry L.

Yelp
Oh my God I can't believe the best little bar in Edmonds actually has some outdoor seating now. Amazing drinks and even better company, the staff alone is worth a visit. Shoutout to my guy Michia (sorry for misspelling your name), good conversation and great recommendations

Bryan K.

Yelp
Amazing vibe. The most social bar ever! Daphnes is a fantastic stop early and late in your Edmonds walk-about!
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
What an amazing spot, seriously the drinks, the atmosphere. This was such a relaxing place to grab a cocktail. Damien I believe is the name of the man that helped us and he was a hoot! Its a cute tiny little spot next to a theater. Due to covid, street closures expanded the patio and the place was packed.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Extremely small and intimate bar. Don't come here if you're shy or looking for a place to relax! But if you're looking for some good laughs and don't mind talking to strangers then this is the place to come. It was my first time in and Desmond made it known to the entire [tiny] bar. He's the entire show of coming here - really all the entertainment. Never a dull moment. He makes everyone feel welcome and you will undoubtedly end up talking with the people around you. You'll have quite a good time and Desmond is an attentive bartender as well. Not sure if health regulations are followed very properly, which is my only concern. Other than that, I would definitely recommend Daphne's as a small but loud place to go.
google avatar

Leanna H.

Yelp
It's a cute little spot that has become a staple visit whenever I'm in Edmonds. It closes earlier than some other places in the area but it's never bothered me. It's small and dark so it's more of an intimate couple or maybe 1-2 friends setting. The drinks are usually are around $10-$12 and I find them very well made. The Moscow Mule is my personal favorite and I always order 2 or 3 whenever I visit. I've been about 3 times now and I've never been disappointed and enjoy the general quiet, dark vibe that it has. If you want to enjoy a nice drink without blaring music or obnoxious drunks it's fine any time.

Carly N.

Yelp
Lovely historic site. Definitely a must in Edmonds, leave your phone at home bc the convo will be worth it!

Jeremy E.

Yelp
Great classic drinks! Very efficient workers. Always great experience. Never tried the food or bites.
google avatar

Pati G.

Yelp
Tiny bar, entertaining owner. A little over the top for us because of the noise level and the bartender trying to be a one man show.
google avatar

Rita W.

Yelp
for the first time in 10 years, i walked past Daphnes Cafe and saw empty seats! we immediately cancelled our dinner reservation at salt & iron, and stepped into Daphnes Cafe and claimed two seats at the bar. Daphnes Cafe is next door to the Edmonds Theater. it is teeny tiny with 8 or 9 seats at the L-shaped bar and two tables that might seat two, maybe three per table. Desmond, the bartender is full of energy and calls out a welcome to anyone entering, peeking in, or walking by. he seems to know everyone. he is funny, quick to laugh and you can't help but laugh along with him. Desmond's mixing style has flair and never skips a beat as he greets or entertains his customers with lively chat. there is a small well-priced food menu of charcuterie, salumi and cheese and fruit. if you see an open seat, run in and grab a place at the bar, and have a moscow mule or a blueberry manhattan and have some fun.

Tina P.

Yelp
I love this place! It's like Paris in the 1930's must have been! And the drinks are great! ( I'm a bartender myself, so I know!) Used to be a Wine Bar, but expanding into crafted cocktails was a wise move as it is hard to find a place like this in the area! They also feature historical information about Edmonds which we found interesting. Scrapbooks of old newspaper clippings and history of the town. Its fun and memorable you will be glad you went!

Yelp
Updated review: Daphne's used to be my favorite bar. Last night (2/14/2019) my husband and I got a babysitter and headed out to celebrate our first anniversary as a married couple. After dinner, we went to Daphne's to have drinks. As we walked up, we found a sign posted on the door that said "No couples please. Singles welcome!" We laughed (given it was Valentine's Day) and walked in. The first thing I noticed was how empty it was. 4 people drinking at the bar and 2 bartenders for a total of 6 people in a place that frequently jams 15+ people in a space the size of some walk in closets. We were immediately greeted with very unwelcoming stares from both the bartenders (one female and one male, not Desmond- have never seen either of them at Daphne's before). I jokingly said, "We're not together." To which the male bartender responded with something along the lines of "it looks like you are". I kept playing along with the "joke" and when both bartenders did not let up, I said "Am I allowed to exchange US dollars for alcoholic beverages?" What happened next left me speechless, quite literally. The male bartender responded with "No, I actually can't/am not allowed to serve you tonight." I turned to my husband and looked back at the female bartender who started on some story about why and how it's "actually such a sweet story" and something about Logan (one of the other bartenders who has served us in the past). I didn't stick around to hear her try to explain why my husband and I were being refused service. Sorry to leave you hanging, but I won't be back to find out. It appears as though Daphne's has forgotten that a dollar from a paying customer is still a dollar, regardless of relationship status. I might have understood if there was a private event, a packed house, or just a joke on the door with no serious intentions of discriminating against me and refusing to serve my husband because we appeared to be in a relationship. No Moscow Mule, regardless of how the mint is spanked, can erase the sheer embarrassment I felt standing in the middle of the tiniest bar in Edmonds, 6 sets of eyes staring at me, as I was uninvited to my (ex) favorite place to get cocktails.

Yelp
Killer cocktails. Try the aviation or the corpse reviver. All range around $12-15. Note: no food or large indoor seating. Go for the drinks.

Yelp
Love this little bar and I've been coming here a decade plus. Love Desmond and miss Saturday night bartender Jeff. Nice cocktails. 3 stars??.....they've started to have the music way too loud. You can't have a conversation. That is what I loved in there --- conversation w neighbors and those from afar. Miss that!

Yelp
We always enjoy stopping in for a cocktail, some made with "spanked" mint. The staff are great, and the cheese platter is tasty. There are several red wines to chose from, and beer on tap as well.

Yelp
Desmond is Da Man!!! Becky is wonderful. Small, like in SUPER SMALL, quaint, welcoming. This is the "Cheers" of Edmonds. They will get to know your name. They will make you a fabulous cocktail. They will make you laugh and feel welcomed. If that's your jam, this is your spot!

Yelp
Great little place for a cocktail, Desmond and fellow staff are very inviting and friendly. You won't find better drinks or conversations.
