I go here often for Karaoke Monday. One of my favorite bars with lots of familiar faces always coming through. Steak Night Tuesday, Open Mic Comedy Wednesday, Open Mic Music Thursday...also bingo and trivia. Great Food and drinks, super friendly bartenders and staff.

Google
I did not have any food but saw plenty of orders going out. I had the pleasure of playing here with my band Horizon Shyft and we had a blast. The staff was friendly, the sound was good, and they take cate of the bands! Great experience and we will definitely be back.

Darvins Pub in Houston is a 5-star gem! Their amazing beer selection, cool vibe with pool to play, great music, and friendly bartenders make it a must-visit spot for fun with friends. Highly recommended!

I tried to eat there 😂 I was told by the owners 12 yr old that all pizza orders are to be done online . I didn’t realize it was all vegan. Hey I’m good with vegan and all into this but I wasn’t interested in eating vegan pizza when I don’t have to . And I know they do real pizza. The other day the bartender was taking orders when I was there for comedy Wednesday and doing a set. I am not eating vegan and I asked about pizza with real pepperoni and I tried to go online and it was so “I hate this word” discombobulated! What’s the real site to order from? Then I’m not finding the “real cheese “ “ the real pepperoni “ and it was just a total cluster fuk and especially with my T Mobil going in and out and people shouting “ go on wifi” fuk your wifi …. If you know anything about security you don’t go on wifi.. I have personal photos with very discreet people and my financials and other docs that are for my eyes only. I never use wifi unless it’s secure. Anyway I left and went and tried another spot.. I had a GOAT pizza at pizzaros and was quite impressed with this New York style pizza. And your viewpoint is the kitchen that they don’t try to hide😲 . I gave you a chance and you blew it…… I’m not gonna elaborate on how to run your business, you just keep that thought about that internet thingy and see how that works out for you.😸find me on Facebook/ Heights XTRA

Outdoor patio is as soon as you walk in, followed by a covered area with 4 pool tables. To the side of the pool tables was a section set up with a chalkboard menu of food that was being cooked outside. Ordered some breakfast tacos (good) and French toast (meh). Once I walked into the indoor bar it was somewhat small but open and clean. A tiny stage was on one side of the room where a burlesque show was going on. The two bartenders were both attentive and made good drinks. My sister asked for one particular drink that the bartender had to Google the recipe for (a Shirley temple with a twist). The place seemed chill, a different mix of people.

Google
I love this spot for an after work drink, they have 3 pool tables & it’s divey and chill. I like mostly everything on their menu food wise too. The emo and karaoke nights are really fun. They also have dungeons and dragon play Saturday during the day. Skyler is such a fun, outgoing bartender too, she def gives me a reason to go in.

Google
Came to eat and catch a drink. the chicken alfredo was really good! Cool, super chill spot! nice outside seating & pool tables!

Google
Live music on Thursday night from Jukebox Trainwreck. Great atmosphere and very friendly patrons and staff. Vegan pizza available from the restaurant.

Kassidy W.

Yelp
Great happy hour spot, has pool tables and pretty good bar food! I would recommend to catch a burlesque show and they have comedy shows & a jukebox train wreck (Thursday nights) which is a lot of fun!! The bartender Skyler is amazing and will take great care of you.

Yelp
Darwin's is ALWAYS reliable. Great drink prices, great entertainment on weekends, great service. Was in need of some libation before a work event and they delivered. The Shoot Your Shot special has been a great one lately.

Aj G.

Yelp
Before entering Darwin's I read some reviews. First of all, always pay cash. I don't like a $25 hold or whatever on my card along with auto-gratuity. That spells "sketchy bar & service." Went Wednesday for their Survival of the Fittest Open Mike Comedy. I was there at 9:45pm. It started at 8. Apparently, no one was fit to survive. Oh, well. Maybe next time. . C'est La vie.

sarah h.

Yelp
Gurl with the black skull cap two braids hanging from underneath, makes horrible drinks. This place is not for me. But that's not why the bad review. It's the poor bartender servi

Armando M.

Yelp
Bartender added a gratuity to the ticket without telling us ,,.. this was a one night experience ,.. ive been there on other Ocations and it was great ,... bartender was nice to me though, a bit akward with my friend but acceptable,.. Manager was very kind and offered us a good time,..

Yvette C.

Yelp
Nice Sunday night vibe. I love the Cool outdoor patio with pool tables...gives an inviting atmosphere! Add Live music, a bar and gumbo I don't think you can go wrong with that!

John B.

Yelp
Sketchy bar. Has a $25 dollar hold on card to start a tab. Which fine whatever. Annoying but is what it is. They auto gratuity every single customer. I'm industry. I tip well but if that's how y'all wanna do fine whatever. What gets the one star is when i went to pay my tab i asked to pay cash instead of card (again industry). The tab was $77 with the auto gratuity already included. I put $80 cash down on the tab gave it to the girl behind the bar and then left. To my surprise i was still charged to my debit card. No one answers the phone to be able to help me with this. And my bank can't help since i don't have a cash receipt (which i do understand is my fault on that part) so i double payed for a tab. If you go only pay cash and never give your card.

Luna Q.

Yelp
Don't get cheese sticks. Nothing on cheese sticks Lol Like literally We ordered cheese sticks and nothing inside of them.

Ari M.

Yelp
Went tonight on Christmas night for the gothic drag show. So much fun and positive energy! Great bar and prices. Will be coming back!

Cassie S.

Yelp
We came here for the first time to meet some friends for trivia night. Trivia was well set up and is done virtually through a team member's phone. After trivia we planned on leaving until the host said that up next was a show. We decided to stay for the show and SO GLAD we did. Every first and third Saturday they have a group of ladies in drag come out and put on a show. It was my fiancé's first drag show and we both had a blast! I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're free on one of those Saturdays. I also would recommend having about $20-$25 in $1 bills to tip the entertainers. It was well worth the two hours. I'll be back!

Yelp
Trendy feeling local dive: What a great place to choose different vibes Starting from the inside: Fully stacked bar with wine, spirits and beer! $ So many beers to choose from and specialty cocktails. Lounge couches, high top and low top tables Stage for Bands or karaoke depending what day Bartenders were very friendly and quick to help! I got the vibe that they just wanted to put a smile on my face which hands down will make me a repeat costumer. Professional setup for bands with sound guys equalizing the sound perfectly!! Looking to play billiards? Hang outside for a game or to with plenty of seating and TVs available to view. Need a space to just enjoy outside away from the stage and pool tables? Walk to the front of the entrance where there is plenty of seating around the tables to just have a nice conversation. Pet friendly If you're looking to keep it a lax night or take it a tempo or two up, this place is versatile for that kind of time.

Zoe K.

Yelp
Do not come here unless you know someone behind the bar. Bartenders up charge on alcohol that they will literally talk trash about in front of your face and then charge you 3x what it costs. Not to mention we literally were kicked out eleven minutes after two if this is the culture of Darwin's that's fine but I've never experienced treatment like this ever before and we come every Sunday. This went from my favorite place to an example of where not to go in a matter of a couple of nights out. Sad to say I will not ever be coming back here and anyone reading this review that doesn't believe it go and see for yourself and see if the staff doesn't prove you right.

Darryl R.

Yelp
This rating is for karaoke night (Monday) at Darwin's. The KJ for karaoke is one of the best I've encountered. You can tell he enjoys his work because he puts himself into it. He is what every karaoke DJ should be. Paper and pencil is supplied to write down your request song/s and your name. He pulls from YouTube and tries to get the song you asked for. Then he proceeds to work on making the singer sound the best he can. Other DJs would do well to learn here. Not only does he take his job seriously he doesn't expect a tip but, is most deserving of one in my opinion. The crowd here is also very responsive. If you do karaoke this place is a must try. If you enjoy listening to karaoke this place is also a must. Bartenders can sometimes be slow at service but, do get around to you not necessarily in order. A designated ONLY walk up area for service would help in this regard. That would form a line and the bar tenders wouldn't have to guess who is next. People here are friendly and it welcomes dogs. The outside patio area is roomy.

Tonne T.

Yelp
i love Darwin's! it's a super chill pub & ALWAYS cool ppl here, mostly late 20's thru 30's, along w/some interesting characters for those of us into ppl watching,!along w/all the AWESOME bartenders making reeeeal yummy drinks (& strong!)! it's most fun on the patio watching the hot guys play pool (that's what -i- like, anyway!) & talking with friends &/or making NEW ones!! DON'T LETCOVID FORCE YOU into the growing ranks of the SOCIALLY AKWARD (‼WARNING‼it SNEAKS up on ya, FAST‼then...[smh] it's TOO late). COME ONNNN! LET's EXERCISE our SOCIAL SKILLS, TOGETHER!

Yelp
I really liked this bar. Not sure why the bad reviews, I guess it appeals to a certain personality. Or maybe an older crowd? It was quiet and not too crowded. Came here Saturday night for Geeks who Drink. What I loved about it - you could hear your partner's conversation and the trivia questions. It's small area inside, you can participate inside or outside. Trivia starts at 7pm and we were able to park in the private lot attached. Dog friendly patio but it was raining and I'm not sure that they are allowed in the covered area. There's pool, arcade games. Wasn't crowded which I liked. There are board games available to borrow. They serve food from the restaurant next door and it was decent. It's true, there was only one bartender but I never waited long for an order to be filled. Even their food was fairly quick. Good mixed drinks, Texas beer on tap and pretty wide selection of can/bottled beer. I'll definitely be returning!

Arie M.

Yelp
Gotta give a star back to them. I was there on Christmas eve with a couple of friends and the bar staff and other patrons couldn't have been nicer. Too bad I don't know how to play poker or I would have gotten in on their games too. I'm not sure how it works exactly but they have two tables set up with the chips and the cards and whatnot so you can gamble with play money and a chance to win your tab....or get naked...again, I don't know how to play so I just do as I'm told.

Kevin L.

Yelp
If it weren't for my friends birthday, I wouldn't even be here. I don't know why, but on a Saturday night for trivia, there was only ONE bartender. Not only was he serving drinks, but he was in charge of food as well. I waited almost 20 minutes to get a drink before I just gave up. I finally got a beer that was just completely flat. There was also a special for 5 dollar bush mills black, but the bar didn't even have it. If you run a promotion, you'd better damn well have the stock. Staying for trivia is more of a chore than it is fun here. It's difficult to hear what they're saying, so most of the people wouldn't get the question. The bar is also completely filthy. I put my elbow on the bar and now my jacket smells of something awful. Don't bother coming here. You'll only end up disappointed and frustrated.

Natalie R.

Yelp
I visited this place a couple days ago on the debut of their weekly poker night (every Tuesday at 7 and 9:30--two tournaments respectively). Darwin's Pub recently joined the ever-increasing list of venues to host weekly poker tournaments for the Snowman Poker League of Houston. I generally go to some of the places in the Clearlake area, as they are closer to where I live, but despite the distance, I actually prefer this place in some ways. For one thing, the clientele is younger, and the place itself is also cleaner than a few of the other bars and pubs I've been to for poker. The main downside to Darwin's is the price of the draught beer (more than five dollars for most pours). I have yet to order any food here, but I've heard that it's decent. I may come back and update this review once I've tried some.

Kathlyn L.

Yelp
I live off Washington so I walk past this place all the time and always wanted to go inside. I finally went in with my boyfriend and we got there at like 5pm. They have happy hour from 4pm-7pm which I feel like is super nice and the HH is good!! Just a super chill place I really liked it. They had good chill EDM music on. They have about 15 draft beers. There is a a huge chalk board wall with their drink menu, food menu and events that happen. I will definitely be coming back to this place.

Ashley Y.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour. I ordered a mojito but they ran out mint. So I ordered a Jin tonic. Its in average taste. It was kinda quiet and that was one of the reason I like it. We ordered 2nd run and also ordered an order of small fries but our bartender did not take the order of fries. Ends up she was providing a better service. It was getting a lit busier later. Ppl can play poker there. There are plenty of games in the patio but it's hot to stay outside.

Sabrina R.

Yelp
Best dive bar around. Started coming with my boyfriend and quickly made friends with the regular crowd. Very fun times and they keep my ginger whiskey in stock even though I'm the only one that orders it. Great place with great staff that really cares about you. I bring all of my friends here now. Super comfortable atmosphere. They have comedy shows, poker nights, and there's always some competition going down on the pool tables. Dog friendly. I love it.

Cameron Y.

Yelp
Addix is now Darwin's Theory. The remodel looks great. This is a fabulous building with an even better patio. The large main wall around the entrance has been hand painted "graffiti" style by 4 different artists. Other artwork hung throughout has a cool street style vibe as well. I am excited to see a more casual, local beer joint vibe to come into this space. They specialize in local beers and liquors, so they have a great selection of Karbach and all of the other local brews. They will soon be serving food (other than just Chatter's), street tacos are rumored to appear on the menu. The place is also dog friendly. We chatted with on of the owners and he was super nice and you could see he was passionate about this new venture. I'm excited to come back with a group and check it out again.

Cynthia S.

Yelp
$2 margaritas are pretty awesome! Patio is nice and spacious. The restrooms are clean and always have soap. The bartenders are friendly and make strong drinks. They also have a decent selection of board games to pass the time.

Jerry L.

Yelp
Tremendous establishment, old school Houston feel to it and great selections as well. The regular clientele are inclusive as well as they are proud of their spot. Clean restroom facilities. Ryan is the consummate bar man and his many years of service experience show through his staff and his hospitality.

Pras S.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot, very friendly servers and had a good band playing live music. I really liked the patio and pool table area but it was too hot to enjoy. Will go back

Jesse C.

Yelp
I was in the area a while back and heard about this spot. I strolled in with a buddy of mine looking for cool spots with arcade games other than Kung Fu Saloon. We happen to catch this place on one of their slowest nights. We got the chance to kick it with the bar staff and the owner/manager. Both of which were super nice and let us sample their brews on tap. It looks like a lot of love and heart went into the atmosphere of this place and I really enjoyed it. They said that they normally have live music and busier nights, but I didn't hold it against them. I personally enjoy laid back bars that offer great atmosphere like this. They have a Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition Arcade machine here! Just wish it was on freeplay, but oh well..can't have it all. I want to go back and check out their live music nights and crawfish. From what I could see, this makes a great place to enjoy good times with friends. Give them a shot..you may love it too.

Bryan A.

Yelp
This place has good drinks and food. Has a chill vibe inside too. Just careful where you park because my car was was broken into. After talking to a couple people after, i found out that it's common in this area. And after reading some reviews on here, I can't justify giving more than 2 stars for an owner that knows this has been happening and hasn't done anything to help. I'm not saying you can completely take away vandalism but you can at least take measures to decrease incidents for your customers

Jessika D.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots: -Need theme. It's no Neil's....it's definitely for the "cool" nerds but still cool. -Free tacos. They specials for free tacos on Wednesday (limit two) and I always tip of but more because they are amazing. -frozen trash can punch. Don't expect craft cocktails here. Think of it as the bar you wish your small college town had. -Fried zucchini. Because everyone else has fried pickles. -Big dog friendly area. Including on that's covered. Great for the heat. -It's never packed. Ever. Not even on free nights. So, yeah that sucks for the owner I'm sure but it's great for people like me who hate the packed bar feel of downtown and rice village. I hope they stay around for a long time. One of my mid week go-to spots.

Haley M.

Yelp
Live music runs rampant here. My favorite bar in Houston. Seriously.. if you are wondering where to find me on a weekend, it's here! Something about their crowd diversity and the layout makes me so comfortable. I always meet nice and interesting people. The owner, Ryan, will take time to introduce himself and make you feel welcomed. All of the staff will, really. Big shouts out to Mike, who always remembers me. Honey and the other two girls (curly blondeish hair and shorter brown haired girl) Ugh I'm bad with names, but they are always sweet and helpful too. The ONLY advice I can give is a little more attention to the ladies room, pretty please. Other than that, this bar is perfect for a the busy nights of the weekend, the open mics, or just to grab a beer during the week. One thing is for sure, you will never be bored here.

Ashlyn S.

Yelp
this place is the best. i went last night, and I'm pretty sure she lied about her name but honey was one of the most amazing bartenders i've ever had. i will definitely be back. staff was flirtatious, just the right amount. 5 stars.

Will P.

Yelp
Just fun. Great bartenders and great up and coming comics. The fact the atmosphere is laid back just adds to the fun. Great Happy hour as well.

Eddie V.

Yelp
Cars are broken into regularly in the parking lot. No surveillance cameras and the owner doesn't care, he justified my friend's vehicle being broken into by saying that it happens all the time and that even his car has been broken into. The bartender said even the band's vehicles are being broken into and equipment stolen. The police said they've come out to Darwin's for broken into cars a lot lately. Several cars broken into on the same night.

Monique K.

Yelp
Eccentric art, hilarious commentary written on the all chalk menu wall, colorful and comfortable patio furniture outside. Overall, great ambiance and a fun environment. While Darwin's gives off the vibe of a hipster divey bar with the red solo cups, swear words incorporated in the art and the tattooed bartenders, it doesn't have diver bar prices. No worries, the prices are reasonable and the drinks are good. I really liked sitting on the patio, they have two separate seating areas on the patio, one with roof cover and a second with umbrella cover at each table. AND you can check out games like Monopoly or Cards Against Humanity from the bar. THEN IT GETS BETTER, the patio is dog friendly!

Tracy A.

Yelp
Great beer specials and frozen drink selections. Nice patio and great atmosphere. Friendly helpful bartenders too.

Sam S.

Yelp
It's really laid back and fun. The crawfish corn will light you on fire! Don't do it

Katie Y.

Yelp
Very disappointed with the service my friends and I were given Saturday night, and some of us were still trying to WALK IN! I came to meet a friend from college at your bar and before the whole group of us could get in, your "bouncer" who is a tiny female like myself, pushed my boyfriend and told him he was too intoxicated to enter the bar. I was already visiting with my friend, and the other people I was with were telling me we all had to leave. The bar refused to serve any of us! I was barely in there for 5 minutes. Absolutely horrendous service. The woman who pushed him was also tending the bar AND apparently the manager? What kind of mess is this?! HIRE SOMEONE. Makes sense why there was no one in the bar. You probably cannot keep up with clientele. Super disappointing that on a Saturday night in Houston you cannot even walk into an upscale bar without being insulted before hitting the main room by an EMPLOYEE. This should have been handled with way more class, which will never happen if this trashy little woman is still running the place. Avoid this place at all costs, people.

Erica P.

Yelp
Awesome place for live music on Friday nights! Can be very crowded some nights, and lonely on others. Service and drinks are average. They have pool tables and random board/card games available in case if you need more entertainment.

Caro L.

Yelp
It was great when I got there on a Saturday evening. It was for a friend's birthday party. It's got a lot of space and there are arcade games along with two pool tables and a nice patio. Supposedly I heard that parking is hard to find if you go later, but I was lucky since I arrived early around 7pm. They have nice simple bar food and also a great drinks list as well as good selection of beers on tap. But I think it would be better if they had some more people working behind the bar counter, since there was only 1 person there when I ordered, and there was already a good crowd there. But I did notice that later on in the night, they had at least 2 people behind the bar counter, so maybe it was a rare thing.

Iam R.

Yelp
This place is awesome! All kinds of local art on the walls! Free crawfish on Wednesdays and happy hour all day! This place has all the makings of the new neighborhood bar! Great staff, great regulars! This place has it all!

Mimi L.

Yelp
Came here twice for the Geeks Who Drink trivia night on Saturdays. I love that it's easy to find a seat and the questions are hard, but not too hard. Last time, though, we had to sit outside because there was a large party there that took up half the space (which I thought was rude since GWD does private events). It was very difficult to hear anything. At one point we had to send people inside to hear repeats of the questions. But overall I like this place and will go back for their trivia nights.

Evan A.

Yelp
This is a pretty cool hang out spot. They have a wide variety of beer selections. However they run out pretty fast too. We went there on a Friday night and they ran of two kinds of beer my friend wanted to try. The drinks are reasonably priced too. Overall, it is a good place to hang out with friends and have a great time.

Paul D.

Yelp
A very weak two stars. I never went to Addix, but since this opened in the wake, I guess I will give it a try. I certainly hope Addix was not this pathetic. A patio out front with tables scattered about, past that is a semi enclosed outdoor area. Old, cracked couches that will melt themselves to your thigh in the heat. Tons of TV's, some pool tables, other pub games and square bar outside, but was not in use when I visited. Inside becomes more dive like, and more in the contrived look at how cool we are. Not in the, we have been here forever and don't care way. There is a huge difference. Which really, is only slightly annoying if I actually cared to visit this place again. They say they carry "all Karbach." Well, they have Hopodillo and Hop Delusion on tap. I think Weisse Versa in cans, I did not see anything else (there could have been more). From what I saw, not exactly their entire lineup. Again, don't care, at least they have Karbach. All tap beer is served in a red plastic solo cup. Which out right sucks. Personally I cannot stand that, all you taste is plastic with a little beer flavor. I guess that makes them cool. The hipster juice is Bud et al. Really? So let me get this straight...hipster beer was once PBR, then craft beer, now Bud? Apparently this is way to ironic for me to possibly grasp, let alone follow. Along with every ironic alcoholic drink you can think of, like Mad Dog and Thunderbird. These guys are trying way to hard. The website advertises a full food menu, but that is not the case at least on my visit. They have a steak and taco night. That is about it. Maybe they plan on actually having a kitchen, but nowhere is that apparent. You would think a new bar would want to explain their plan to a new costumer, but again, oh well. The bartenders don't seem to care about anything. I guess I will be put on their "Wall of Shame" for this, which is fine by me. Oh, and if you are going to use a Darwin reference as the namesake, at least be original, like Down House. Oh hell, I changed my mind, Karbach be damned, this is a one star review.

Ashley G.

Yelp
Finally! A watering hole on Washington Ave that isn't too upper class or a club. There's a huge chalkboard on the wall behind the bar listing all their drinks and specials. It's nice to be able to see everything without standing on tip-toe or trying to see over someone's head. There is a good selection of Texas beers. They seem to pride themselves on keeping the taps local. The bar staff is very friendly. They make sure to serve everyone, not just the people who are hitting on them. They make time to chat with anyone who's interested, especially if it's about their beverages. There are lots of cool arcade games including Skeeball, Street Fighter, and air hockey. Be warned: currently it's $1 for one game of Skeeball. Proceed at your own risk. I'm not a huge fan of their outside area. The fluorescent lights are very off-putting, and they need to get some furniture that isn't completely beat up. It's strange because the inside is much better furnished.

Cory T.

Yelp
Stopped in last summer and loved it from the jump! A hip and trendy back street pub with a lot of character. You can play poker, billiards, and enjoy local bands. I loved the design and cozy atmosphere and the bartenders were fantastic to talk to. Deck seating available. Drank with Duanna like a pro!

Tressa E.

Yelp
First time here and performing for open mic (comedy). I was there to drop of my comedy show tickets to another comedian. Love the atmosphere and seeing my comedy friends. Very receptive audience too. No one talking all loud while the open mic was going on. My Deep Eddy drink was the bomb too. Not watered down.

Tristen W.

Yelp
Awesome staff, atmosphere, and (so far) patrons. A decent set of arcade games and air hockey for those needing distraction from their drinks. Drink selection is growing, but don't expect a ton of variety just yet. There's a modest food menu which all tastes great, kind of pricey if there's no specials going on though. Lots of plans for cool stuff in the future.

Rodolfo R.

Yelp
It is a cool revamped bar with a great selection of food, and drink. It's a great place for groups with tables inside and out. The new staff and owners are awesome and extremely welcoming no matter who you are or where you're from. I extremely recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Tifa T.

Yelp
Best bar in town! I love working here and all the fine folks who come in. Except Brandon.

Allie H.

Yelp
Bartenders are super cool and patio is perfect. Great bourbon and beer choices too. We love this laid-back, neighborhood pub.

Danie S.

Yelp
I visit this place regularly and really enjoy the food and drinks. Nothing fancy, just a good laid bavk watering hole.
