My fiance and I really enjoyed our meal here recently. Tucked away in a quiet, unassuming location at the corner of a little strip mall is Dave Poe's. Once you step inside, it feels like home - a very laid-back, comfortable atmosphere. All the workers who helped us were very nice, and the food itself was excellent.
We ordered way too much, but if you want leftovers, this is the place to go. We ordered a pound each of the brisket and pulled pork, and we ordered a pint each of the macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and baked beans. Everything had great flavor, and the meats were nice and tender. I think my fiance and I are partial to the kalua pork we know and love from back home in Hawaii, so the brisket tasted better to us than the pulled pork. However, both were good items.
We ordered a fried apple pie a couple minutes after we put in our main order and ended up having to wait quite awhile for it after the main food came out, but it was no big issue. The pie was reminiscent of a McDonald's apple pie, but it was pretty good.
Overall, we would definitely come back here when we want some good BBQ. We spent over $50 here, but for the portions, flavor, and quality, we felt like it was well worth the money. Next time, we'd probably just get regular sized plates though - as that would be more than enough, get strictly brisket, and pass on the apple pie.
