Tid bits app completely devoid of any flavor. S&S sauce is terrible -clear color with strong vinegar. BBQ Pork was off, fried green beans had no taste, and rangoons lack of crispness and flavor. Waste of money. Mu shu pork isn't on the menu. But they will make it, and it's OK. Also garlic fried chicken is ok. Mongolian beef isn't. While the beef is very tender, the sauce is not even remotely hot. This dish is a saucy ginger or oyster beef- without the ginger. If you love MB don't order this. The chicken fried rice & house chowmein tasted old. I would put $ on them going over to the deli side and scooping them out of a vat that's been sitting there for hours. While the service was very good. It is basically 3 entrees, 2 sides, an app, and one soda - Over $100 w/tip. Sadly I was thinking for that price I could get 3 feasts over at Panda, and would have way more food and better quality ingredients......

We always go at this place to eat. We always dine in with family of 4. The food taste so delicious. The waiters are so friendly and polite. The prices on the menu are not to high.Always we still have some food to take home. I recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. Now I'm reserving with this restaurant to do my business. You can have a close room for 10 to 12 people.

A very nice, clean restaurant with great service..

Google
Ordered the Shrimp Dumpling Soup and the House Chow Mein. The dumplings were very tasty and tender, perfectly cooked , although the broth was unremarkable. The Chow Mein exhibited all of the best characteristics of each ingredient playing off each other for an enjoyable, uncomplicated ensemble requiring a dash of soy sauce to round the dish's showcase.

I was in Stockton for work and tried a restaurant close to the hotel. First disappointed is that the prices online are about 30% cheaper than in person. Unfortunately, it's the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I had the crab rangoons and the combo platter #2. I'm from Indianapolis, and these were the worst that I've ever had. The rest of the food was pure sadness. I have no idea why this place is popular. The one good thing was the service. Quick, polite, friendly.

The food was tasty. The server was friendly and efficient in bringing your meal. Good atmosphere and clean.

Google
I love eating at this place. The ambiance and food are so good. The price is reasonable. The staffs are so nice and polite. I am recommending this restaurant to my family and friends. I celebrated my birthday at this restaurant last month. I love the food package that they serve us. The price is right when you are on a budget but the food are all delicious.

Google
This is the best Chinese food that I've ever had while visiting Stockton. The food is definitely 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s, all the way. The service was phenomenal and the atmosphere was sensational. I will definitely be coming back to eat here on my next visit.

Yelp
Ooooh I haven't been to Dave Wong's since it was located on Pershing Ave. That was many moons ago. But fast toward to today, and it's good to hear that this iconic restaurant is still operating n Stockton, CA. Over 45 years and still going strong, serving up classic Cantonese dishes in a beautiful elegant setting with top notch customer service. I have to mention again, the menu is Cantonese. It's not Hunan, Sichuan or any of the other five major Chinese cuisines. With that said, Cantonese food has a delicate, milder taste than the other cuisines since the focus is on fresh, natural ingredients versus heavy on sauces, spices. We ordered battered fried string beans, fried chicken, pork ribs, egg rolls, chicken salad, ginger beef, Mongolian beef, chicken chow fun, beef chow fun, honey walnut shrimp, hot n sour soup, and wonton soup. My faves were the soups, honey walnut shrimp, and beef chow fun. The hot n sour had the right amount of vinegar giving it a subtle flavorful sour taste. The honey walnut shrimp had a mild sweet flavor with a cream sauce made of condensed milk, the walnuts were candied. Yum. The beef chow fun was classic tasting. The beef was so tender. The food was tasty but being an out of towner, I wouldn't go out of my way do a destination dinner. Our group of 14 had a room in the back of the restaurant. We made a reservation. The setup is pretty nifty, the room walls are modular on ceiling slider tracks. The wall panels slide about to configure rooms of various sizes and to create a hallway. The main dining room is beautiful, modern design giving off upscale vibes. They have booths, along the side walls, with curtains. So nostalgia old school but done in a modern style. Classic. Ambiance is through the roof. The service and ambiance outshined the food. Dave Wong is located on March Lane off Interstate 5. They've been at this location since 2002. They have a restaurant and a to-go hot food counter, just like the original location. They are in two different areas of the same building, and have separate entrances not accessible to each other.

Yelp
It has been several years since I have been here. This used to be the BEST Chinese food but the quality has gone way down. First time in 10 years that I have sent food back. We didn't have them replace it. Most of the dishes had a funny taste. It seems like they are using cheaper ingredients. Service was polite but slow and we got left at our table for 20 minutes. I have been here over 50 time but I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
We had a small gathering of our immediate family to celebrate the life of our father's passing. The reservationist that helped me set this up at Dave Wongs who worked so graciously so kind and sympathetic and professional to make this gathering for our family in this difficult time just beautiful. The service was impeccable, the food was amazing, private banquet room set up beautifully and so much delicious food. We have been customers of Dave Wongs now for many years and it was one of our dads favorite places so we thought in honor of him we would choose this restaurant to celebrate his life and his legacy for our family and dad!! Thank you Dave Wongs for making our gathering just that more beautiful and wonderful for this difficult time. We will continue to be loyal customers for as long as they are open for business! Thank you Dave Wongs for making our event so very special in memory of our father. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Thank you , Veronica S

Yelp
Sat in the bar area. it is dark in there. had the house cab which was fine. Not a lot of beer to choose from. Just basics. had the shrimp kung Pao. it was so delicious. Ordered a small cup of rice to go with it. Amanda in the bar was very nice and we laughed a bit together so it was nice. She was very busy. I'd definitely go back... they also have a to go "deli" style you can get stuff quicker and to go only. It's around corner from entrance.

Yelp
Wonderful place for a couple people, groups and I'm sure take out is good!! Walk ins are friendly and I came here with my girl friends and we were seated almost immediately as I have been in past. The hostess working was so nice to us! Wonderfully treated by everyone and immaculate service just like the last time I was here, and the time before that! We ordered a bunch of different items and all of them were absolutely delicious! We ordered the hot and sour soup, the fried chicken, the string bean chicken, the combination fried rice, the Mongolian beef (non spicy) and the cream cheese wontons. I am always pleased how each dish is packed with flavor. The ambiance for lunch was cute but casual. I would say it was a little loud but that's okay it was just us girls having fun. This restaurant is amazing and a 10/10 I'm already thinking about the delicious hot and sour soup!!! Yum!!

Yelp
Service was quick, potstickers were great, but the other food, like the chow mein were mid, and prawns were downright bad. Sweet and sour pork is awful . But the boring and quiet ambience and unneeded seriousness from waiters makes this a worse experience.
google avatar

Jayson S.

Yelp
Quick and easy service. It's always really dark in here but they recently added TV menus. This is a take our restaurant so there's no restroom or area for dinning in. Most of the food is deep fried or grilled. The chicken was crunchy and juicy. The chowmein was greasy but flavorful. Their hot chili sauce harder than most places.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food at reasonable prices. I like the Wok-fried green beans with white meat chicken. The spicier dishes can be a little salty. Always busy for a lot of good reasons.
google avatar

Yelp
We primarily use the deli for takeout. Our staples and kung pao chicken, chicken fried rice, fried green beans, crab rangoons and lemon chicken. But I LOVE reserving a table at their private booths for girls night. Both the restaurant and deli have quick service. The portions are big and the food is always piping hot. When in the restaurant they assign a server to basically your every need. They are so attentive! And kind!

Yelp
Love this Chinese food restaurant. All the food is high quality and very tasty. The place has a feel like your in chinatown somewhere. Very nice ambiance inside. A perfect place to take the family, friends or a dinner date. They even have private rooms for bigger parties. They have a few private booths you can even close the curtains and have privacy in the main dinning room. The price is fair, the good is excellent, the service is great. What more can you ask for. I dont eat pork so I got the Emperors Dinner for 2 that comes with lemon chicken, garlic shrimp, shrimp fried rice and tempura fried asparagus. We got Thai chicken wings and fried prawns appetizers also. Everything was delicious. They even have a separate entrance for a deli with food to go. They are easy access right off the freeway. I love everything about this place. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
I come to the Dave Wong's deli almost every week and usually have a great experience. Their prices are reasonable, portions are decent, and it's a convenient go-to spot for a quick meal. However, my most recent visit left me a bit confused. I stopped by for an evening dinner and was met with a rather curt interaction from the gray-haired lady at the counter. I asked for a two-item combo, which has always been an option--even just a few weeks ago--but was told it no longer exists. Instead, I was informed that I had to pay for a three-item combo and get a double portion of something, which didn't quite make sense to me. Their website states no change. See my screenshot of their online menu. Additionally, I noticed some inconsistency with how extra sauce charges were handled. Some customers were charged $0.18 per container for sweet-and-sour sauce, while others were not. It would be nice to have a clear, uniform policy on this. They have asparagus in season right now and give you small ends of it rather than full strands. No pricing found on the menu but that it's simply a "special." Another small issue is the checkout process. Whether you order ahead by phone or walk in, everyone has to go through the same line, meaning calling ahead doesn't necessarily save you any time. Despite these minor frustrations, I'll continue to come to Dave Wong's because it's convenient and generally a solid spot. A few small improvements in consistency and customer service would make the experience even better.

Yelp
Delicious food, excellent ambiance and service. Ordered from the deli two more days when I had to work late. Very convenient take out service labeled "deli."

Yelp
Went here for lunch and the food was so GOOD!! The portions are a bit small considering that it's a lunch plate. Other than that, the flavors were amazing and the service was great too! It's nice and clean inside and there's a lot of space for large groups of guests.
google avatar

Ezra L.

Yelp
The food here used to be good. Since the change of ownership the quality has changed, as the food is now mediocre. The staff are still friendly and the vibe of the restaurant is still the same.
google avatar

Magda G.

Yelp
I stop here for lunch when I'm in the area and wanting Chinese food. They make food consistently in the deli so you know it's fresh. When you walk in, you can see all the food lit up under the heat lamps. You take it they take your order and the order is up in about five minutes. I got their lunch combo, chow mein, fried rice and garlic fried chicken for $8.30. It's a good amount for that price. You gotta check it out.

Yelp
1st off I can't believe I hadn't written a review of Dave Wong's...I have been coming here for years and moved away. Came here last week and to be honest I was generous with the 3 star. To start service was very awkward. Not very friendly, didn't speak great English to understand her and almost zero personality. To start my daughter asks for a drink menu they don't have one even though they have a full bar. Then she asks how about some specialty drinks she couldn't tell us and said they didn't have any? For this part to be honest 1 star. Food was just ok...over sauced and not greta flavors like I remembered. Atmosphere and ambience inside is always good but the lack of service and flavor in the food wouldn't have me rushing back. I remember this place as such a treat and left this week feeling ripped off of a memory.

Yelp
Garbage- same as 15 years ago- Just not a great place for vegetarians which is odd for Asian food but cool- keep your crappy noodles this is still so bad .... No- dont do this

Yelp
Their garlic chicken, Mongolian, beef and fried rice are to die for i've been eating here for years since I was a little girl some of the best Chinese food in Stockton

Yelp
5/5 experience at Dave Wong's! This was our first time here and we couldn't have asked for better service. We chose the bar area in order to be seated faster, and we are so glad we did! The bar room is so cute and clearly a local favorite. We were enjoying watching others mingle with the staff as if they're there every night. Our food was fantastic! We asked our waitress for recommendations since we had never been there and we were happy with our plates. I think my favorites were the fried rice and the egg rolls (not pictured). My lemon drop was also great! Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and would love to come back!

Yelp
Good food with great service. We had a large party so we had a private area where we could be away from the crowd.

Yelp
Delicious food Great service Ambiance pleasant Reasonably priced for a satisfied customer : )) Smart business

Yelp
Way overpriced, small ass portions, service lacks, parking sucks, as it's the same for the Dave Wongs actual restaurant, Starbucks and Chase, it's very small. I personally wouldn't be back. It's a deli only, for take out. They have no seating inside or outside, unless eating at their restaurant which is attached but has a separate entrance. I don't see what the hype is or how they have so many good reviews. Again, to each their own, maybe what's bad for me, will be good for you. Rice was not cooked all the way, on hard side, lacked flavor. Their pot stickers were legit thicker than a snicker! Like my goodness the wrap was so thick and just completely soggy, the filling lacked flavor. Huge disappointment. You're better off eating at Panda Express, no cap!
google avatar

Rosy C.

Yelp
My family loves going to Dave Wong for dinner. We typically order the chow mien, lemon chicken, rice. Every now and then I mix it up with Kung Pow chicken or something else. The parking can fill up but somehow there's availability for a table. The restaurant is split into a dining area and a bar area. The bar does offer table service if you're interested in being on the more social side.
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
Had great family dinner here. Had large order for the group and staff separated appetizers and other items we asked for first. Food arrived hot and freshly prepared. Highlights were the banana leaf fish, honey walnuts prawns and fried garlic chicken. Service was beyond great. Waiter and maître D. Kevin checked in with us several times making sure that we had all we needed. Beverages were never empty! Best Chinese food in Stockton.

Yelp
We have been going to Dave Wongs for years even though we do not live in town. However, whenever in town, we try to drop in. Always tasty and a crowd-pleaser in the past. My wife and I recently had dinner there. We started with two Mai Thai - they were mostly syrup and looked light in color. We sent them back and got a white wine. We ordered the Wong's Moo Goo Guy - it was plain with no vegetables (we remember it having snap peas). Then, Prawns in garlic sauce - this was almost cold with mushrooms that were chewy like they had been rehydrated. Vegetable chow mein was ok yet like most of the meal was bland and had little flavor or spice. Service was attentive as there was no one there. We had been looking forward to this experience, but it was nothing like we remembered. Sadly, I do not think we will be returning. Server reported that they had a new bartender but that didn't explain the abysmal food showing. Sad.

Yelp
Food: they were good; tried the beef chow fun, tidbits appetizer and garlic fried chicken Service: it was pleasant and very attentive Ambiance: it was nice. Roomy, dark, very formal Overall: it's a good restaurant, if you like to eat a fancy chinese fast food, this is the spot. I would return here and try other items on the menu.

Yelp
I went to have lunch today with a friend and the service was great. The set up is also nice they have private rooms to eat which is awesome. The food was great and the price is reasonable. Will be back soon.

Yelp
I've been to Dave wongs more times than I can count.. it definitely is a wonderful environment and the food is great. Every time I've been here the service is wonderful and I've never had an attitude from any of the employees.. We have had several private events held here in a room in the back that you can decorate to your pleasing. The food is great. I would say my favorite item would have to be the chicken lettuce wraps, and the beef.. every item has a touch of its own special thing. The bar area is also fun, not too large and not too small and has tables in it as well if you want to eat in a smaller area. One downside is they use to have a few small tables outside the bar area so if you wanted to step out and vape or just be outside with a glass of wine you can't really do that anymore unless you're standing.. only complaint

Lepiche B.

Yelp
The food is excellent the egg fried rice with the green onions that's what I the flavor in it with a taste to the rice was excellent my fried I like carrots and peas. This might be a traditional way. I don't know, but I always have to add extra stuff to mine and I walk fried green beans with garlic and some sort of bean sauce and a fry prawns with the yellow sweet-and-sour sauce it's different but it still was good. It's been three years since I had the chow mein. But as I remember, my grandchildren devoured it it's kind of pricey, but it's worth it. poisosaucpoisonsauce. I do believ

Yelp
The group decided to try this place because we are from out of state. The food was not exemptions, just a reg chinese. Its was not an authentic chinese it was American chinese. The menu/choices were chinese but with regard to the taste it was not to look forward to eat. Sorry but just go to a fast food. Not coming back. Service was okay...

Keysha M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying this is my first time coming to this place and will be my last time. I decided to get take out for my family of 5 and for the price I thought the portions would be big, to my surprise they were small. We ordered 2 fried rice, beef and broccoli, house chow mein, sweet and sour pork and fried shrimp. My ratings for the food: Chow mein 3/5 Fried Rice 3/5 Beef and broccoli 2.5/5 Sweet and sour pork 1/5 Fried shrimp 1.5/5 Like I stated before I will not be back for decent expensive food with small portions.

Yelp
We have been eating at Dave Wongs for more than 15 years. This is by far one of the most amazing Chinese food restaurants you will ever taste. Truly this is fine dining! One of the things we love about Dave Wongs is that each dish has it's own unique flavor. Unlike the run of the mill Chinese food places, Dave Wongs dishes are a unique signature of fresh ingredients, flavorful herbs and spices with careful preparation in each dish. Honestly, this is one of the best dining experiences you will ever have. We travel 40 minutes one way to enjoy their food. It is well worth it!

Yelp
Ok let me say as long as I've been in this area I have never been to this place since they moved to March lane location!!! I've heard good things about it and as of today I had to try it out!!! Ok first thing is the ambiance is great!! Love the look!!! Service was really good and not a long wait for food!!! The taste of food was really good and not pricey like I thought it was!! They give you good size portions!! We will definitely be back here soon to try to get that next star!!! If you want good food with good atmosphere!! Then check this out !! I took only one pic this time but will take more next time!!!

Yelp
I've NOTICED the Chicken (Thighs and Legs) are much larger than a normal CHICKEN. ALSO their are EXTRA BONES in each piece. This seems suspect to me. Perhaps someone can help me understand why a chicken is this LARGE and has more BONES THAN A NORMAL CHICKEN. Please let someone else know.

Jessiah S.

Yelp
This food is tuff! Also if u want a little food to go they have a deli. makes me want to kiss the chef all over again.

Yelp
During the 80's, I used. to eat here a lot when they are located at Pershing and Robinhood Drive, however, under new management, they relocated in March Lane and I 5 , I have never got a chsnge to drive there and eat in and/or take out food until I tried to order through door dash lately. My first order, I already knew the difference between the old and the new Dave Wong. With respect to the new Dave Wong, I'm speaking for myself and my opinion if I compare the two, the old one is far better than the new one as far as taste is concerned. By the wsys, I gave them a second chance by making another order a few days later, there is no improvement. To make story short, I am not making another order.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
This was our first time here. It had been recommended to us by many people and the experience did not disappoint. There were 4 of us and we each chose a dish and shared family style. We also included a double order of crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was the bomb! Fresh, hot and full of flavor. Our shared entrees included wonton soup with a side of bbq pork; lemon chicken; moo goo guy; and sautéed prawns w/shiitake mushrooms in garlic sauce. The flavors on all entrees were perfect, no one flavor overpowered another. Perfectly blended for a wonderful taste. Each dish came with white rice and no annoying "filler" vegetables that other restaurants often do to fill the plate. Our waiter was attentive and came back often. We never felt rushed. We were seated in a curtained booth for privacy! The entire experience is definitely worth repeating!

Yelp
Ok. Been awhile sence we tried this place. We gotta tell you we will not be trying again. Ever since the family sold out to a corporation the quality has gone down but prices went up. I think Panda Express is much better and a lot less expensive. We ordered chow mein, fried rice, egg foo young, lettace wraps. All of it had one single flavor and color. No difference in taste from one to the other. Might have just ordered rice because it tasted same as the chow mein etc etc etc. only thing that tasted different was the sweet and sour pork. The spare ribs were good except while eating kept running into tiny pieces of bone. As if while cutting the rack into seperate ribs wasn't clean cut and left tiny shards of bone To be baked into the meat. Biting into these is not pleasant. Sweet and sour was mostly fat and gristle. Very very poor quality. Paid $80. Could have gone to Texas Roadhouse for that. Or panda twice. lol. Do not recommend. In fact stay away. Don't waste your money.

Yelp
It's seems not like the other restaurants I've been in LA, it tastes a little different, I feel like it

Yelp
Lunch specials Lemon chicken and fried rice, walnut shrimp and fried rice last was 3 item special almond chicken, fried garlic chicken and fried rice with chow fun to share. Appetizer Chinese chicken salad and prawns. Everything was good the service was excellent

Yelp
Got a chance to have dinner for a special event for my beautiful Auntie's 80th Birthday at Dave Wong's. Coming up for this special occasion from Southern California, I already knew it would be a great time with special people to me and this was all true... however, what added to this gathering was some delicious mouth watering delights. We dined in a private room with a very large party and felt cozy. The service was attentive and abundant with large platters for each table to share family style. All the food was tasty and cooked to perfection.

Suzanne F.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant. Recently hosted a baby shower there and it was perfect. Very accommodating and staff were so attentive. The guests loved the food and venue. Highly recommend for dinner and other special events / banquets.

Yelp
Their food is good , but they're just very slow. You would think calling your food in would get you out of the restaurant quicker but no. I called my food in 30 minutes ago and had to wait in line for 10 minutes when I get to the restaurant. 6 workers walking around not doing anything & one cashier.

Serena J.

Yelp
Their broccoli beef taste terrible. It's soggy wet broccoli mixed with beef and that's about it. Don't waste your money.

Yelp
We have been dining at Dave Wongs since they were located on Pershing Avenue way back in the day. I'm not sure how long they have been at their March Lane location, but it's been a while and it's been fabulous! The honey walnut prawns are spectacular and actually I can't think of a single dish. I don't absolutely love. The deli can be a little hit and miss but the restaurant is always 100% hot, fresh, and so delicious. The service is also great and though I don't frequent the bar very often, it is a super cute little area, and the bartender knows his way around good liquor.

William W.

Yelp
Went to Dave Wong's Thursday night. Ordered a Belvedere dirty martini x2. First one was great. Ordered a second x2. Found out it's was Gilbeys vodka. The worst vodka ever. Also the food was just sub par very disappointing espically martinis

Gilbert G.

Yelp
Disappointed and Felt taken advantage of. I have been going to Dave Wongs for years for both lunch and dinner, for both personal and business meals. Even hosted group meetings as food was good. Recently had an impromptu lunch/dinner on a Sunday afternoon after a soccer event with family for a total of 19 people. 14 adults and 5 young ones. We were told by the lady (missing a frint tooth) that since we had more than 16, we had to do the banquet menu and since we came in past 3pm, we had to do the Dinner Option. Thinking that it wouldn't be courteous to just walk out and expecting it would be a great experience, I decided that we should just stay. We chose option 1 for $32.75 that came with Sichuan Beef, Pepper Prawns, Chinese Chicken Salad (bits of chicken tossed in lettuce with tomatoes and some Crispy noodles), Sweet and Sour Pork, House Chow Mein, Pork Fried Rice, and Wok Charred Beans. We added 2 orders of Walnut Prawns and 2 orders of Chk Lettuce wraps. 3 glasses of Pepsi Bill came to $880.99. Not worth the money and felt like we got ripped off. The serving sizes were proportional to who they thought were on the table. So the "kids" table had smaller servings but price was the same as adults. The bulk of the servings were made up of the fried rice and chow mein. Upon visiting their website, they write that we could have customized our meal order. However, I was told that the menu was set. I host a lot of dining events and feel like the value isn't there for Dave Wongs for a family banquet meal, especially for Chinese food. I will still eat at DW for lunch and smaller meals but will NOT be doing or hosting any banquets here any longer. Will also share my experience with friends and business colleagues especially with our chamber contacts. So, in short, you can have a meal here but stay away for group events.

Yelp
I called my order in for pickup we asked for a order of spare ribs, a order of garlic chicken, a small order of chicken chow mein a large or of house fried rice and a small order or house fried rice. When we got there they said it would be an extra 15 minutes for the extra rice. My boyfriend went back in to check on the order and he had been notified that they gave the ENTIRE order away after we paid 62.00 for it. Once we finally got the order the rice was shrimp fried rice which had more peas and shrimp than rice that's not what we asked for. The ribs and chicken were cold and seemed old. My feelings are so hurt we just wanted some takeout and not worry about cooking for one night. I do believe this is my last time going to good ole Dave Wongs.

Yelp
When I lived in Stockton 16 years ago, I would always get the sweet and sour pork and the Chinese chicken salad. It was so wonderful back then. I was in Stockton last week and could not wait to get this food again. I was very disappointed, the sweet and sour pork was smashed in a small tin container, with hardly any sauce and lots of fat on the pork. The chicken salad was horrible, dry chicken cut so thin you could not see much of it because the lettuce was cut in huge pieces. Guess they have different cooks now. Very sad, I won't be back again when I am in town
