"Indie East Hollywood pop-up, turned mega-popular chain backed by Drake, Maria Shriver, Samuel L. Jackson, and Good Morning America anchor and retired NFL player Michael Strahan brought its certified-halal hot chicken tenders and sliders craze to metro Detroit in 2021. Expect a range of hot from “no spice” to “reaper” (disclaimer, guests must sign a waiver for this level of spice). Cool off the palate with house-made kale slaw or creamy mac ‘n’ cheese (remember, dairy counteracts spice)." - Brenna Houck

"Dave’s Hot Chicken, the scrappy late-night LA pop-up turned mega-hit hot chicken spot, is bringing its tenders and sliders to Dearborn, when the chain opens its first restaurant in Michigan this week. Along with hot chicken tenders and sliders, Dave’s serves sides of house-made kale slaw, creamy mac ‘n’ cheese and crispy seasoned French fries. The chicken spiciness is adjusted to the customer’s taste, starting at “no spice” and cranking up to the ominous-sounding “reaper” (which requires a signed waiver for those who dare). Operators have been tight-lipped about where they source their birds but say they’re halal-certified and come from the company’s longtime supplier that dates back to their parking lot inception. When the restaurant opens Friday, October 29 in Dearborn, customers will have a pick of outdoor dining or seating indoors, where there’s custom artwork that reps the Motor City’s personality. Dave’s Hot Chicken started as a parking lot pop-up in East Los Angeles in early 2017, only to move into a brick-and-mortar location nine months later. Owners Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, Tommy Rubenyan, and Gary Rubenyan capitalized on the Nashville-style hot chicken wave, inking a 2019 licensing deal with Wetzel’s Pretzels co-founder and former CEO Bill Phelps, and movie producer John Davis to begin franchising the Dave’s Hot Chicken brand. The company has sold the rights to almost 500 franchise locations in the U.S. and Canada and will open 25 locations this year, and recently opened its first Chicago restaurant. Rapper/entertainer Drake recently signed on as a major investor to the restaurant chain. He wasn’t the first celebrity. Maria Shriver, Red Sox owner Tom Werner, actor Samuel L. Jackson, and Good Morning America anchor and retired NFL player Michael Strahan are also investors. The new Dearborn restaurant, at 22208 Michigan Ave., will be open daily from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m." - Monica Williams

The chicken is delicious and the fries are exceptional. I had a great experience, staff was super sweet and helpful. You can customize the spice level and make your meal your own! I got the combo with 1 slider, 1 tender and fries! Definitely recommend

The food is the only reason I go here. That's it, that's all. Service is horrible. But that chicken dust is crazy good. So far, I've visited this one in Dearborn Michigan and the one in Altamonte Springs, Florida, which I prefer. As far as the atmosphere, it doesn't look like the chain even tries. Please at least improve the staff.

Solid tasting chicken in my opinion. I really enjoyed how everything tasted and loved the signature sauce. The wife though it had to much paprika but everyone is different. The only negative isn't about the staff. Some customers are slobs and need to clean up after themselves.

The chicken itself taste good but the spices were a bit over for me. It felt like burn spices. I would come back for none spicy food. I love spicy but Dave spices are a bit off for me.

Were in the area yesterday with my kids looking for a place for lunch and kids suggested Dave's hot chicken based on their friends recommendations. When we got there the place was messed up because a punch of school students were dinning and blocking the aisles. Tables were not that clean and even those that were cleaned were still greasy and you can see some bread crums on the tables! Food itself was below average and you can feel and taste that everything was fried using the same oil. On the other hand I can't pass by without giving credit to reps at the cash. They were super friendly and fast in addition they replaced one of our orders that we didn't like. It seems that standards are getting worse and worse when it comes to food quality served in US restaurants despite the fact that prices are insanely increasing with no proper justification!

Best quality fast food! Other brands can come closer to the taste and delicious look!

Food is decent. Charging $40 for 10 tenders is a bit outrageous though. $4 a tender when you buy tenders in bulk is insane. As a former business consultant for one of the big 4 accounting firms I would honestly recommend that this place lower their prices. Business seems good but would be much better if prices were actually reasonable. Staff gets a 5 star.
