Where to Eat and Drink in Annapolis, Maryland

"This long-standing neighborhood dive, packed into a tiny wood cabin since 1986, sits right by the water. Expect to brush shoulders with exuberant yacht owners downing frosty Loose Cannon beers. Its crab cake pretzels featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives put the pub on the map." - Tierney Plumb, Claudia Rosenbaum

Where to Enjoy Maryland’s Gloriously Cheesy Crab Pretzel

"Housed in a former 1920s general store, this no-frills local hangout focuses on good and affordable food. The toasted soft pretzels, loaded with Davis’ Back Creek crab dip and melted cheddar sprinkled with bacon, is no exception. It’s no wonder why celebrity chef Guy Fieri highlighted the dish on his television show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." - Tierney Plumb, Claudia Rosenbaum

Delicious pub food, big portions and for a good price! I got the smoked Mac and cheese w blackened chicken, my husband got the cod and fries and we shared the potato skins. All of it was very good

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Davis’s Pub is a fantastic spot in Annapolis that you absolutely have to check out! The fish and chips here are hands down some of the best I’ve ever had—crispy, golden batter on the outside and perfectly flaky fish on the inside. The portion size is generous, and the fries are just the right amount of salty and crispy. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, with a real local charm that makes you feel right at home. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or settling in for a relaxed evening, Davis’s Pub is the place to be for delicious food and a great time. Highly recommend the fish and chips!

Google
Service was fantastic. Atmosphere was great definitely a local pub. Food was also really good. I would recommend the Maryland crab soup some of the best I’ve ever had.

Google
I've eaten here twice in the last week because it is that good! Cute neighborhood bar, delicious burgers, the best french fries I've ever had, huge gin and tonics for only $5.47, and great service. I'll be back again and again!!

Google
This is a true neighborhood gem. I can’t recall exactly when I last visited, but it is within the last couple of weeks and it’s always the same experience. Great food, great service and the friendliest atmosphere. It’s the one place in Annapolis I know that’s away from the downtown traffic, yet lively and fun. If you seat outside, it’s quiet too.

Steamed Shrimp and crispy Old Bay wings were delicious!

Google
Great place off the beaten path. Parking in the area can be difficult. However if you want to get away from the hype food and try some really good local preferences you're in for a treat. I got the pub tots which are crispy tots with crab dip cheese and bacon. Even had some crab balls that went great with the crab dip. It paired nicely. Mkt price on crab was very respectable. Tip drink and food was under $50 and was pleasantly full. I will definitely be back when in the area.

Google
Great little find in Annapolis! We came here for happy hour while visiting Annapolis, and loved it so much we came back. Hands down the best crab pretzel in the town. The drinks are good, too, and the service outstanding. Love the outside seating and general vibe. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
To paraphrase a famous pop singer, Oops Davis' you did it again! I should have come up with a better musical reference, but I couldn't figure out how to work in Thunderstuck, but I digress... Davis' never, ever disappoints. The staff is the best and, quick shout out to our bartender, she is a rockstar! I don't submit a review after every visit; however, recently several friends who want a break from D.C. asked me, "the local (I've been called worse...)," where they should eat in Annapolis. Davis' is always on my list. Today's lunch once again reminded why. We started with Buffalo wings, which were perfect. My buddy had a grapefruit crush or maybe three, and mentioned each one was refreshing as the last. My Summer Shandy was ice cold. A great recommendation. He had the burger. which is consistently great. I had the Rockfish sandwich special, recommended by our bartender. It was fresh and all the ingredients straight from the farm. The tomatoes were perfect specimens on my sandwich and my pal's burger. Also, the lettuce, like always, was worth eating. How many times does a restaurant slap a wilted piece of lettuce on a burger or sandwich as an afterthought? In my experience, too many. I should note even the celery served with the wings was crispy and nicely washed. I was a prep chef in a previous life so I look for this. This is the perfect segue into our Caesar salads which also met these same standards. Everyone needs a Davis' in their restaurant lineup. Go, have a delicious meal and leave with a stylish t-shirt. Thanks, Davis'!

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch and is what it is - pub grub. I had the crab soup and it was loaded with veggies and a hint of crabmeat. I did taste good but don't expect chunks of crab meat. I then had the Crab Balls which were good - made of crab flake, so no crab chunks. My wife had grilled chicken which she liked. They gave me a plastic glass of Pinot Grigio which I thought was good for $6 - better than most places will charge. We ate outside and it was a delightful day - there are only about 6-7 tables so if you want outside, best get there early. We checked out the inside and guess what - it looks like a pub! Service was fine. Worth a stop for a pub experience, but expect pub grub.

Yelp
I was recommended the crab cakes here and it was delicious. The crab cakes were thick and filling, pairs very well with the cocktail sauce. The service was also friendly and quick. I would come back!

Yelp
I love this place. I have been twice. Once with my dog and once with my husband. The outside seating is dog friendly and they have a doggie menu. During busier times the service is rather slow (unless they were shortstaffed that day). I don't go enough to know their patterns. The food is always great and I look forward to their soup of the day. For the most part, even on weekends, you can find easy parking within the few surrounding blocks.

Yelp
NOT ALWAYS A GOOD EXPERIENCE I am in tears...today is St. Patrick's Day 2024...we have supported Davis Pub for 30 years. My husband is recovering from illness so we couldn't dine-in today. I called at 130pm & was told they offer order pickup. Matty( or Naty?) took my 2 Corned Beef & Cabbage Platter orders for pickup @ 430pm. I recd a phone call at 415pm advising the specials were sold-out & told orders are placed 20 min before pickup. This is unacceptable service. They could have held 2 orders back for my order & did not consider that option. No apology or other option provided. Our dinner plan was ruined.

Yelp
Food is decent. Service and hospitality is great but prices are crazy. 20 bucks for this meal. Guess that's Annapolis ya.

Yelp
Local dive bar with nice outside seating and allows dogs outside. Had about 10 different draft beers recited by the server at the table of which we chose Blue Moon. Enjoyed crab dip, fried Buffalo cauliflower, and the nachos with Buffalo chicken listed from best to worse in that order. We had enough food for just the 2 of us to hold us over as a whole meal. Man, those nachos were huge! Jake n kev

Yelp
Such a great local place. We miss living down the street. Great service amazing location and good food! Can't wait to bring our puppy to sit outside to enjoy the puppy menu

Yelp
Local pub in Eastport. It's got the great Annapolis and bay feel without the tourists (except for me, haha). Eastport is a bit more chill. The beer selection is solid and the food....better than expected. Granted, we were hungry after a few hours on the bay but the Reuben has terrific, the French dip was "so good" (per my son) and the BLT was fantastic. Great beacon and super fresh tomatoes. It was so good, I'm going back tonight!

Yelp
This is an iconic pub that's been here for a long time . Go for the atmosphere and pub food. I got a crab cake on crackers that was a good size , but tasted a bit weird, like not terribly fresh. And the crab wasn't great quality. My daughter got Gumbo which was a much better choice. It was a bit spicy but we enjoyed it. Granddaughter got chicken tenders which were good . Service was good.

Yelp
Davis' Pub is NEVER empty. Why is that? Because the food and people you'll find inside are beyond impressive. Great staff in the kitchen, serving tables, and at the bar. Been here with friends and family and it has never disappointed. In the winter when it's cold out, you might have a short wait for a table, but in the summer there is lots of outdoor seating. Pub tots are a must, they also have a killer veggie burger
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite neighborhood dive bar. The atmosphere is great. The people are nice. The food is great. They always have good local beers. In a town that tends to close early, this place is always open. Try the fried pickles, you'll be hooked.
google avatar

Jody M.

Yelp
Great place for outdoor seating with lots of tables. The place is across the street from the water and you can watch the boats from the tables. It was also a great place to watch the Blue Angels practice. I had fish and chip, the fish was just ok. The batter wasn't what I was expecting. My friends buffalo cauliflower was a winner and everyone enjoyed the orange crushes. We had a nice time and the outdoor seating is especially dog friendly and there were pups everywhere. Next time I'll bring my dog.

Yelp
I wish I could move this small corner pub to my neighborhood! They have an awesome selection of beers and a menu that perfectly represents Annapolis We ordered a few appetizers to share and that was plenty. I'm fairly certain the double rainbow guy would have had a similar reaction to the Crab Pretzel if he was lucky enough to experience such deliciousness. The steam shrimp and the chicken strips were fantastic as well. The menu has some amazing looking items which made the decision process a welcome challenge. Can't wait to come back and try a few more options. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Ambiance, neighborliness, real community pub. Picnic tables outside. They have hot cocoa too!

Yelp
Fantastic old school bar with delicious food. Anything there with crab in it is over the top good. Go crab dip! Burgers rock too!

Yelp
Came here years ago and came back because of the hometown neighborhood feel. The side street where the restaurant is located is blocked off for outdoor seating. Ample amount of tables and spaced out enough for social distancing. We were going to sit outside but it was getting chilly at 4pm so we chose to go inside. There's a host area outside to assist with seating. Once inside we got to choose where we sat. All the high boys were taken so we sat closer to the back by the kitchen area. The waiter told us where it would be warmest. Once seated it took maybe 5 minutes and we were waited on. Due to COVID, the restaurant has the QR code for online menus. There are also alcoholic beverage options written on a board on the wall. Here's what I ordered: -Quirk Strawberry Lemon & Basil Seltzer: similar to a White Claw but this was really good. Sneaks up on you because it tastes just like a regular sparkling water. Not much alcohol flavor, which I enjoy. Will definitely order again. -cup of Maryland Crab Soup: not enough lump crab for me. Mainly thin pieces of crab meat. Loved that there were a LOT of different vegetables in it; Lima beans, peas, corn just to name a few. Very hearty and filling. Wish it was a thicker consistency so I would probably not order again. Good for what it was though. -Crab Pretzel: every time I get this I am in awe! This is sooooo good! Best appetizer they have on the menu. Love the compliment of the cream cheese with the crab and the seasonings over the pretzel. Veryyyyy good. It's a staple to get every single time. And comes with 2! -Buffalo Cauliflower: I love it when veggies are disguised in yummy, crispy buffalo sauce. These were fantastic! No hint of cauliflower taste with all the benefits. The size of the cauliflower was perfect. Will definitely order again. Only ordered a few appetizers but was very satisfied. Hopefully next time I can get past the appetizers and venture out to the main menu. I wasn't sure who our waiter was because 2 people helped us but loved how everyone was friendly and kept checking up on us.

Yelp
I like this little spot in Eastport. Came for dinner and was happy to see them respect social distancing and staff wearing masks. It was about a fifteen minute wait. They had seating inside and outside. The service was excellent! Really nice and they came by several times to ask if we wanted more drinks or anything else. It's pub food done well. The crab pretzel was good. Not pretty but lightly spiced with Old Bay, cream cheese and cheddar on top. I had the meatloaf special with green beans cooked perfectly and mashed potatoes. Hubby had gumbo so delicious. I liked the gumbo so much that I scooped some of the sauce onto my meatloaf- The brown gravy and the mashed potatoes were awesome. We licked our plates clean. We will be back. It's tiny inside, wood floors, low ceilings, Annapolis style!

Yelp
Our regular spot when we visit Annapolis because we like the laid back atmosphere (and I've been going there since shortly after I graduated from that place on the Severn). We'll be visiting more often now that our youngest's boyfriend moved to the area and she'll be up there a lot (future SIL??). We met our daughter and bf there after a morning event at the Naval Academy. Beer ice cold just the way it is supposed to be. Nachos, Veggie burger, sweet potato fries, and onion rings were all good. And my usual - the gumbo - was excellent as always (don't miss it!). Our server, Owen was quick and attentive even though we were sitting outside. The only downside I've ever had at Davis Pub is parking, but this time we parked right across the street from the outside sitting area - I've never had that primo a spot ! Well done Davis Pub - spectacular !

Yelp
Great food with an amazing ambiance. A very tight space, but that's because many people where there. The timing of the service was manageable, but still nice. Will visit this little hole in the wall again soon.

Mike J.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. Could not get a drink refill as I never saw waitress after she took the order. The manager brought my food out and I asked for another drink only to hear him tell me to ask the waitress. As I waitef food got cold. I told waitess to bring the chexk BUT I did not want the cold food. I exoected my check to be for my mediocre soup and ice T but it still had my entree on it. I asked for the manager. He should have just appologized ad offered to remake the food ad it would have been OK. I got nothing. I believe this is just a place to go to drink and get drunk.

Ashley C.

Yelp
First i would like to say when I walked in there was this weird smell. I looked passed it because it was a hole in the wall. We were greeted by a friendly bartender and host. The host seated us. After sitting down we met the waiter..... she was probably the rudest waiter I've ever met. When asked questions she had an attitude and seemed irritated. She kept trying to rush us on our order. So after feeling uneasy we decided to leave without ordering anything. I don't want to say this but I feel like it was because me and my best friend was black there wasn't any black people there at all and when people saw us they looked surprised. If you don't want to be treated differently and disrespected don't go there.

29 L.

Yelp
Bartender was excellent, the food was amazing. The owner seemed to be there and was a complete idiot to another customer (who was behaving well) so I was less than impressed. Won't continue to give him my money.

Yelp
Home of the original crab pretzel!! Which obviously, is a must order. Total dive bar with surprisingly great food. I recommend getting the grilled Buff Chick Sammie. Also, outstanding bar tenders. They get you your drinks fast and they're expertly made. 10/10 Grapefruit crushes.

Yelp
Great place Historically famous A must see destination Get down here Neighborhood with character

Yelp
Still the same old neighborhood pub in Eastport. Reminds me of a lot for the corner pubs in Europe but the restaurant and food is far more expanded. Plus their niche dishes, crab cakes and bar food. Definitely a fun place but go easy on the neighbors when parking, leaving, and hopefully not urinating on their lawns at the end of a long night of drinking. :)

Brett B.

Yelp
My wife and I love visiting Davis Pub and were excited to take my parents this weekend. We walked in with our chatty 2 year old daughter and were seated with some attitude by the hostess. After getting the high-chair our daughter began climbing solo into her chair continuing to talk, not yell. About 5 seconds later the hostess shushed my daughter and covered her ears and made a face. It was unreal. We walked ourselves out and found great food elsewhere. While we love this place, and have come with our daughter multiple times. I hate to say we won't be coming back with dozens of other great food options within a mile. Davis Pub deserves a better welcome than that.

Katherine P.

Yelp
I would leave zero stars. Service is abhorrent, food is meh. Avoid at all costs. Terrible hosting service. We had a dog and kids with us, and they proceeded to make us wait two hours meanwhile let several parties not on the waitlist ahead of us. The also didn't bother to apologize when they attempted to sit us inside after the 2 hours had gone by and gave us attitude when we said we couldn't sit inside since we had a dog, which we had told them when we put ourselves on the wait list. Food or cost isn't worth the snark and immature attitude.
google avatar

Yelp
Have been going here for years.. just for the crab pretzel.. literally. Best one in Annapolis. Was very disappointed in the service the last time I was there. Waiter hardly payed attention and then they switched partway through and our original waiter ended up behind the bar. Asked to buy a tshirt (that they have displayed on the wall) and had to remind him about 3 times for him just to come back and say they didn't have any. Not sure if he ever actually looked. Anyway, I'd still go back.. for the crab pretzel, haha.

Louann S.

Yelp
Love this place!! You can eat outside bring your dog and just enjoy yourself! Food is great!!!!!! Wish they had more seating but worth the wait.
google avatar

Liza K.

Yelp
This is a cute little spot that seems to be popular with locals- my friend who lives in Annapolis recommended it as a way to get away from all the tourists and it didn't disappoint. We came by for dinner and waited about 45 minutes to get a table. But there's a lot of cute shops nearby, and pretty views, so we didn't mind the wait. They have nice outdoor seating and it's very spaced out. Perfect for an autumn day! I ordered their famous fried cod sandwich and it was SO good. Definitely recommend trying it! It was juicy and fresh fish. Loved it. It came with a pickle and fries. We also shared their fried pickles and they were SO food - especially with the aioli sauce. I'll definitely get them again. My friend also ordered the shrimp and a salad, which was really fresh and light. The service was great - even though they were slammed! I also liked that it was pretty casual and didn't feel fancy. Definitely recommend if you're looking for some good seafood and a more authentic vibe than some of the touristy spots nearby. Five stars!

Yelp
Fish and Chips. My oldest son took me to Davis Pub Eastport after we saw Maverick-- great picture. He had the cod or haddock and fries. I had a single crab cake, steamed shrimp, savignion Blanc - new Zealand Marlboro heavy clay soil. JOYCE was an excellent server. I've been going to Davis Pub since 1986. Always consistent excellent food and great prices. A true boat rigger and maintenance guy's dream Pub!
google avatar

Yaz T.

Yelp
What a great find. Everything we ordered was delicious. From the drinks to to the appts to get he entrees. Service was wonderful, as well.
google avatar

Monique P.

Yelp
This was my first time trying this place for lunch and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the BLT with sweet potato fries and it was delicious. Plenty of bacon on the sandwich. They offer in and outside sitting which is great and the tables are placed apart with no stools at the bar. They have put many precautions in place and I will definitely be returning to try some other food options.
google avatar

Jill W.

Yelp
How can you not love this place? Davis Pub is a locals spot in Eastport with really solid pub food, drinks, friendly service, and outdoor or indoor seating. It's a very casual spot where everyone is treated like family. I love eating here and always leave in a great mood!
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Loved our visit to Davis' Pub, despite our table nearly crashing in the middle of our meal (too many fries? I guess the table will be the judge). Excellent crab cakes, terrific french fries, super fun crab pretzel, great crab dip and lots of options for your non-crab loving friends too. Staff was attentive and pivoted well when our aforementioned table came crashing down (thankfully before most of the food arrived). Nice shady spot in the outdoor dining and we got there early enough to have plenty of room for a party of 12 plus a very happy dog (so nice to find a place that was pet friendly too). Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Patricia M.

Yelp
They aren't lying--it's a pub. Very fun atmosphere with tons of locals and great beer selection. Food was not spectular, but then again, it's a pub!
google avatar

Nes L.

Yelp
Nice out of the way place for locals. The problem is there is no rush here. If you are in a hurry, don't go there. This is a slow moving place. It took about 1/2 hour to get service and my food. When you are hungry and tired, that is a long time. The food was ok. I had burger and fries. Like I said it's a nice local bar for locals who are not in a hurry.

Jon S.

Yelp
Small time bar for the locals that is a hidden gem for lunch. Prices are reasonable and service is great.
google avatar

Allen T.

Yelp
wonderful community gathering spot where locals meet and eat. Their burgers and chili are my favorites but they run daily specials like turkey and dressing and other comfort foods. The crabcakes are also quite delicious.
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
A few friends and I had a quick lunch at Davis' Pub while we were touring around Annapolis. Overall, it is a typical pub with pub food, with a good crabcake. This is one of my partner's favorite crabcakes in Maryland, so of course I had to try that one out. It is a huge portion and had a fair price. Of course, crabs are the seasonal food here, and certainly that's what to get if it's available. And local. Everything else was very fried and they have the standard fare like club sandwiches and those options. We opted for the crab dip, which was also a huge portion. This location is kind of tucked away from all the crowds downtown a few blocks away. It's not as touristy as some of the huge restaurants on the main strip, which I appreciated.
google avatar

Clark J.

Yelp
Super cool local dive. I dig the local feel, friendly staff and pub fare. Go for pub food, sports bar and dive food. Enjoy!

Yelp
Stopped here as a recommendation from a hosts home we were staying in nearby and I'm glad we did. Great dive bar , good bartenders and a heck of a good time. Wish we had more places like this back home.

Yelp
Let's start with the basics. I don't grade on a curve. Four stars from me is six from anyone else. Yes, yes, I know five stars is the most. Deal with it. It's easy to write a review for a place that you drop into and leave. It is more work to talk about a place that is an icon in the community where they welcome you as a friend whether you have been there a hundred times or are on your first visit. I'm moved to write an update because recently someone wrote a really unpleasant review. I'll stand up and say that the Davis' Pub they wrote about is not the one I visit. I lived two blocks away for a few years and a block away for one. I live a whole four miles away now. Davis' Pub is not just a place to eat and drink but part of the community, especially the sailing community. When I bring people here who ask what I recommend my answer is simple: "One of two things: something from the menu or something from the chalkboard." No one I have brought here has been disappointed. I certainly have my own favorites. This is real honest pub food. Crab pretzels. Fried pickles. Burgers. A Rueben that will knock your socks off. I stopped by yesterday for a meeting. I'm not there nearly as often as I once was but still got a friendly greeting from staff, help finding the person I was meeting, and truly wonderful service. One of the mantras of Davis' Pub is that there are no strangers, only friends you haven't met. As it happened while discussing a pending cultural event the people at the next table included the president of a local company that was on our list of contacts. That sure helped us. You never know who you will run into at Davis' Pub.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Rudest staff I've ever met. The one young bartender was obviously drunk. Left after being shoved out of the way multiple times by an obviously overworked server. If I could give 0 stars I would. If you're looking to enjoy a nice drink or even just life in general DO NOT GO HERE.
google avatar

Lacy D.

Yelp
My friend turned 30 and after a day of activities, we planned on having dinner at a nearby restaurant. Unfortunately, the wait was super long, so we decided to pop into this pub while we waited. After a beer, and testimony from an enthusiastic patron that the best crabcakes were served here, we decided to change plans. We shared a crab pretzel and crab dip (which was absolutely redundant, but the birthday gal is quite picky), and both were fantastic. For our entrees, we all got the crabcake sandwich which came with delicious fries. Crab overload you ask? Well, if there were such a thing, maybe. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to find bomb crabcakes in an Irish pub, but in Maryland you never know what you're going to come across. The food was tasty, beer was cold, and servers/bartenders were friendly and attentive. Will definitely make my way back next time I'm home for a visit!

Beverly S.

Yelp
Nice local pub. Variety of foods and staff was very accommodating. Atmosphere was very welcoming and warm. It's not a franchise type place and feels homey!
google avatar

Boyd Z.

Yelp
What a cool place. Great food drinks beer. In the middle of a neighborhood. It's like going across the street from your house to a friendly bar. I went there three days in a row the locals were calling out my name. First time I went there my daughter was pissed. How could you bring us here An hour later she says "Dad. I have to admit this place is really good". This big yacht pulls up to the this dock and everyone runs off yelling "woo hoo we're going to Davis's!" Have the crab pretzel. Burger with blue cheese. Crab cake sandwich! Everything is guaranteed to be less than 100 calories. The drunk dude told me and drunks don't lie. Everything is good. Buy a tee shirt. Now when I go to the Army Navy game. Go Army! I come by. Love the place. And I'm from California!
google avatar

Dwayne M.

Yelp
The Crab Pretzel ... AMAZING. Had it on a food tour once, now every time we go to Annapolis, we stop here for a to go order (or 3...). We've actually never never eaten inside, or gotten anything else on the menu other than Crab Pretzel so this is just a review of the Crab Pretzel.
google avatar

Jen M.

Yelp
I would give the food 3.5 stars. Standard bar food. Crab cake was a standard fried crab cake. Nothing special About the food. You go more for the location and to get together with friends than for the food quality. We waited over an hour on Saturday night but that is to be expected. Inside was nice and cool with the A/C. Put your name in and wait across the street with your bevies in hand.
