Daymoves Review - Brooklyn - New York - The Infatuation

"We’ve never been huge fans of going on dates during the day. They tend to feel like business interviews, and ordering alcohol requires explaining how you don’t usually drink at noon. But Daymoves is a reason to reconsider. This daytime cafe in Williamsburg from the same people as Four Horsemen - a wine bar located next door - feels like a cross between a coffee shop and a recording studio, which makes sense considering one of the owners is James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. All that is to say that Daymoves feels cooler than other cafes, and sitting on a couch underneath giant blue speakers feels very far from a business interview. Start with a coffee and something from the short food menu, like the cheesy endive salad with pistachios or the croissant BEC packed with avocado. If things go well, transition to a glass of wine or negroni on tap at the bar." - Matt Tervooren

I was looking for a tea/coffeeshop to get something warm since outside was freezing and google maps let me to the amazing Daymoves which is a gem hidden in Williamsburg. The place is so cozy that i didn’t wanna leave. Next time i’ll go i would love to try their food.

Wow. Just discovered this hidden gem. The styling is amazing, like I'm back in the 60s. Friendly staff. Good coffee and gf cake

It's a little pricey, but the vibe is great. Really well designed space. The sound system is incredible and the barista had great taste, playing some acoustic goodness that fit the chilly fall morning to a t. My latte was made excellently, and the maple glazed doughnut (fried to order) was SO good. One complaint - wish they had wifi, but I understand that's not what they're going for. I would happily come back with a book and hang a while either way. Can't wait until they start doing evening events, because I really want to hear that sound system cranked up.

Google
popped in on a sunday afternoon, and there was very low-key, funk music playing, which fit the room perfectly. had a ‘big milk,” and then a glass of orange wine, which was on draft. both were just grand. 110% worth checking out again

Nice spot. Great music curation. Just please get rid of the Asian dude at the bar. The guy speaks a way too bad to the clients.

This was a unique and cool place with great music that you simply cannot find elsewhere. I wish they reopened.

As of August 2021, no longer operating as cafe! Dinner @ Four Horsemen still going strong.

Yelp
daymoves is like your third apartment - you still scrounged the furniture but you used some discrimination... some of your dishes match... you have alcohol and it's more than cheap tequila and vodka... the stereo is amazing.... I went to Williamsburg specifically to come here and walked right past. The sign is a small piece of painted wood at the base of a scrawny ficus on the sidewalk. The entrance is down a long, long hallway. Hint: it's behind Four Horsemen. Why go? It's a new cafe, the space is ridiculously cool without trying too hard, they use good coffee from good roasters and will get better at preparing it, James Murphy co-owns it so the sound quality is excellent the music selection today was nuts: side one of Blue Sunshine, the one-off album by The Glove, a Robert Smith and Siouxie Sioux project from what, 1983?

Yelp
This is the former Larry Lawrence space, and wow, they made it punchy and fun and just...pretty. The former LL space was always so sparse and dark and musty and not always friendly. I sat down in the back of the lounge, on a couch with a cocktail during a late afternoon siesta, and I'm not sure I've ever been so relaxed in my entire life that didn't involve a direct view of a beach. They don't allow laptops here. Come here to read or talk to friends...like what normal people used to do during normal times. 6 stars? I'm only allowed to rate it 5, ok.

Yelp
I couldn't stop gawking at the funky interior - everything was well-thought out and carefully placed with a good mix of vintage and shiny new pieces. I can appreciate the atmosphere the owner was trying to create (no laptops, unplug, be present, read a magazine - when was the last time you did that!?). And the music, oh the music.. superb. Plus, how can you not like a place where your coffee just looks this good sitting there? Excellent service and yummy coffee. Visit!

Yelp
AVOID THIS PLACE. I left my card on file while we sat at the bar for beers on Saturday night from around 9-11:30pm. While this happened they took my card, walked down the street to Leo's and ordered $105 worth of food - receipt showed up on my Amex Bill. Thanks Square! They don't have any contact, so taking my grievance here. If they did this to me they will do it again. Unprofessional and disgusting behavior when my boyfriend I were nothing but kind and tipped generously at the end of the night. SHADY AF!

Yelp
In response to the first post; this is basically going to be my second apartment as my roomie and I live very close - haha. The vibe is incredibly chill with an eclectic mish-mash of furniture that works well. Bring your laptop or a book and have some wild tree assam tea with a maple glazed doughnut in a plush chair. Bring your Bumble date and chat in the cute little nook near the stairs over some red wine. Cry over said failed date on the stairs with some sticky toffee pudding and a ginger molasses cookie (and more wine). It's a great place and the bartenders are lovely. Dropping a star due to the drinks being a tad bit pricey, but lovely. Stop by though.

Yelp
I love this place and can not shut it up. But it rocks in every way. Would have loved to try more of their items on the menu. And staff is always friendly. A MUST TRY!

Yelp
reluctant to review this place because i want it to remain my little secret. hidden in an alley next to four horsemen, daymoves is the cutest little hangout spot, with comfy couches in the back, good music, and dim lighting. this is my go-to suggestion for all future catch-ups and dates.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great coffee. I love a place with comfy couches and good music. I will be coming here more often.
