Best Restaurants in Mobile, Alabama | Eater Atlanta

"A Debris po’boy is about as close to New Orleans as you can get without leaving Alabama. The rustic sandwich shop starts with baguettes delivered fresh from legendary NOLA bakery Leidenheimer that are sliced and stuffed with gulf-caught seafood or rich roasted meats and a collection of classic condiments: mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Among the more unusual (but no less popular) sandwiches is the Thanksgiving Everyday po’boy packed with house-roasted turkey, cornbread stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Pair your po’boy with a Southern-inspired cocktail (bananas foster old-fashioned, anyone?) or a selection from the extensive beer list." - Sarah Bisacca

Downtown’s po‑boy specialist builds Leidenheimer‑bread sandwiches with Gulf fixings and a fun bar program. Mobile Bay Magazine called out the namesake debris po‑boy; expect a festive crowd on parade nights and during big games.

Finally got to try this place and tried the fried soft shell crab po-boy and it did not disappoint two decent sized fried crabs and a nice remoulade sauce to match. It was indeed tasty. Highly recommend it. The potato salad as a side was really good as well.

Fast and friendly service- nice atmosphere! Great meal! I got the small Debris Po-Boy. The small was plenty big enough; I can't imagine trying to finish a large Po-Boy. My Po-Boy was extremely flavorful and really tasty. My plain wife got the small plain Shrimp Po-Boy, undressed (no lettuce, no tomato, no pickle and no mayo). The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the bread was fantastic.

My gosh, if I could give them a 10 star review I would! The food was amaze balls! The crawfish pistolette and shaved ribeye poboy to die for. The bartenders super duper nice and attentive. And don't even get me started on the pen with a koala bear on it, so CUTE! We got our food to go and already want to go back for seconds! Didn't even get a chance to take a picture, it was gone in a flash, it was that spectacular!

Popped in here for lunch while at a conference in Mobile. Not a big seafood eater, so I just had the Caesar salad which was tasty: I liked that it wasn’t just a basic Caesar salad and had a more flavorful dressing and some fried veggies in it. Love the industrial vibes here. The service was a bit slow, but it was busy when we visited

Great food great atmosphere and wonderful people. We had the Debris po boy, soft shell crab, shrimp po boy and the Pistolette crawfish with cream sauce, they have great tasting food, we will be back again and again. We had there desert, the Bread pudding, praline ice cream mae into chocolate chip sandwiches. The drinks were exceptional, with there wonderful tricks of the mixologist, (bartender). Our server was Sheridan she was terrific…

Looking for a light dinner so po boy seems to be a good fit. The restaurant is very laid back. Service was low key attentive and very much appreciated. Ordered a small oyster rockerfeller po boy ($15.99) and a red ruby Paloma ($10). Food and drink came within minutes. While the bread was good, I wouldn't be able to tell it's oyster if I blind tasted it - it could very well be my taste buds.

Food was good, highly recommend the shrimp poboy and collard greens. The Debris sandwich was OK. The best part was the service and atmosphere. Very comfortable spot, not too loud, and friendly.

I came here excited, but was let down. Our server really talked up the daily special which was a Cuban sandwich. It wasn't bad, but wasn't even in the top 10 of Cubans I've had and I don't eat a lot of Cubans. Nothing special about it and seemed overly pricey for something so small and basic with a bag of chips.
