I absolutely loved Deep Roots! It's a super interesting and unique concept for wine tasting. I have done a lot of tastings at wineries in North Georgia, and this stands out as being really unique. First of all, they only have California wines.
Second of all, they have these really fancy looking wine machines. So instead of a person pouring out your wine, you just get to press a button and hold your wine cup underneath.
When we walked in, we were kind of confused about how to get started. The lady working at the register was very nice and explained to us exactly how it worked. We gave them a credit card, and they gave us wine glasses and a Deep Roots card to use at the machines.
There are about 3 sections (starting with whites to deep reds), and each section has 2 machines with 4 wines inside. So if you want to try a wine at a machine, insert your card into it and select which wine and how much. You have 3 pour options: a tasting (1 oz), a half glass, or a full glass. You position your glass under the spout, and press the button underneath the pour option of your choice. And then the wine pours into your cup!
The prices are listed for every option. Also when you insert your card, the current balance is displayed. Many 1 oz pours ranged from a lower end of $2-3 to a higher end of $5. We only did 1 oz pours, which didn't make much sense because we tried several of the same wines again, haha. But I think I was just caught up in the novelty of pressing the buttons.
This is super fun and I liked choosing my own options in a wine tasting, instead of having a set flight. You can also spend as much or as little money as you want. But REMEMBER to take your card out after you get your pour! I accidentally left my card in there for a while. But luckily, someone nice turned in the card. If someone not so nice finds your card, they can just charge a bunch of pours to your card.
After you are done, turn the card in and pay for your total. Everyone working here was super kind and friendly, which was appreciated because we were by far the youngest people in here!
The bathroom is a single bathroom in the back. Usually I don't like unisex bathrooms, but this was super clean.
This is located in Roswell, and there is a small parking lot outside. We had a bit of trouble finding where to enter, but the front entrance has a sign. The interior looks very nice, with a few seating/couch arrangements. The place is small though. It is packed with many wines and shelves. Also definitely be mindful of your current balance because it can definitely be easy to keep racking up pours!
I would highly, highly recommend trying out this place if you are into wine tasting! It is unlike any other wine tasting room in Georgia. I had a great time and the wines are fantastic.
