11 Great Nashville Bars To See Live Music 2024

"Going to Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge is like inserting yourself into a ‘70s movie scene set in a local bar. You’ll find all the expected characters: the pool players, the flirty couples, the semi-gruff bartenders, and a gaggle of musicians in the corner, all of them bathed in that magical celluloid glow. Dee’s is a honky-tonk to be sure, but one with an open mind, a cheeky attitude, and a great sense of style. You can see everything from old-school country to smooth R&B and Led Zeppelin cover bands here. If you need a little air, snag a satisfying Frito pie or a barbeque sandwich and head out to the spacious patio which, you guessed it, also has a stage. Unlike other honky-tonks that pride themselves on only serving beer, Dee’s has a concise cocktail menu with solid margaritas and Old Fashioneds. " - bailey freeman, jackie gutierrez jones 2

Had a great time here. Good crowd, great bar, great live music (Shirt Tuckers, Alicia Blue, and Mose Wilson). Had brisket available, but had already had supper before we arrived.

I would consider Dee’s a must do for anyone that comes to Nashville solo. Excellent first bar experience for my first time in Nashville. The crowd is extremely friendly and the bartenders are quick to serve and friendly. I came by myself on a Sunday night and enjoyed some pulled pork tacos and dirty fries. Music was good and lively. More crowded than you’d expect for a Sunday evening (not a bad thing).

I LOVE this place. The music venues are top-notch. My all-time favorites are East Nash Grass and Bronwyn Keith-Hynes

Went for birthday bash! Fun place! Met some amazing people!

Google
Dee's is the kind of place you can run into the artist you were listening to on the way there. Classic films such as Princess Bride and Step Brothers grace the screen behind the bar. Bluegrass Monday is a must. NA drinks and an $11 BBQ sammy tallied up to just $20. Immaculate vibes.

Google
Went there because they had live music, place is small but perfect. Great music, atmosphere and bartender was great!

Google
Great service and atmosphere. The staff were kind and fast and it felt down to earth and fun. Go here if you’re in nashville!

Overall I liked the place. I will def be back. It had old school 70's-80's decor. I took my mom to check it out. I like all music so I was good, but the band playing seemed to focus on original stuff that wasn't country at all. No one knew a single song, so the vibe was a very mellow. Again, I was good, but I think with Country being in the name of the place, my mom was expecting more country music ; which I do agree. I feel a great 70's-90's country band would solidify the vibe here. Play music people know so they can sing along and get happy. Granted it was a weeknight, so to be fair, I'll give it a visit on the weekend, and I look forward to it. I'm glad to see a live venue in Madison and hope this place is supported and kicks a**. I'll update my review after another visit.

Yelp
I enjoyed The Davidson County String Band at Dee's Country Cocktail Lounge the other night. These ladies were absolutely amazing! I haven't heard female vocal harmonies this good since Emmy Lou, Dolly, and Linda made Trio. Such a tight band! Special kudos to the fiddler. The food selection here is limited-- I had a smoked baloney sandwich which was fine. The beer selection is much better. There is a pool table here but no one was playing. The parking was a little tight out front-- not sure where the overflow parking is. The sound system was impressive! Thank you, Dee's in Nashville for dishing up great music!

Yelp
Madison, TN. I suppose if you live in Nashville you just get numb to all the great musicians playing around town. Tonight (Monday) it was Bronwyn Keith Hynes, fiddle player extraordinaire. Winner of a Grammy accompanying Mollie Tuttle, I've been following her music for a while now. So we get there early, pay our $10 cover and we could sit or stand anywhere, it was not crowded at all, and we got to see her close up. The sound system wasn't too bad for a bar, there were only a few glitches. All of the players in her band were top notch, all professionals who have been around. Sure was a rare treat, it was a splendid night of music, and I loved hearing her play her own stuff! Bonus: There is ice water! Easy parking, I didn't park in the lot, I just pulled along the road across the street.

Yelp
I love this place and the owner is fabulous! Laid back fun vibes. Will definitely return when I'm.back in Nashville

Yelp
Amazing music, great prices and this is the place for music in Nashville! Saw members of AJ Lee and Blue Summit Scott Gates and Sully Tuttle there! So approachable and great vibe! What a jewel!!

Yelp
Went to Dee's on a Saturday night. Everyone was friendly, the bartenders were fast and attentive, the beer was cold and served in tall boys, and the music was amazing. I wasn't very hungry so I only had chips and dip and it was good. Next time I think I'll try the brisket sandwich. So I'm going to come back again soon for more Country Cocktail fun at Dee's.

Yelp
Loved Dee's! It was close to where we were staying so we checked it out, and I'm glad we did. It's a great bar and Nicki Bluhm was playing. We didn't know who that was, but we really enjoyed her set (as well as the band before). She packed the house and the place had a great atmosphere. Cover was totally reasonable and leaves you with enough to show the bands some love.

Yelp
I love this place. I come here every time I'm in Nashville. The regulars are always welcoming. Bar staff is perfect. Never an empty drink. And..... the brisket tacos from Backstage BBQ out of the kitchen are off the chain. Always coming back.

Yelp
Fabulous dive bar! Pics of the national treasure Dolly Parton all around. Cheap beer, live music, and friendly staff. Bartender Masha is awesome. Come on by weather you are a tourist or a local.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
The best bar in Nashville! This is a hidden gem with the best vibes, great music, pool tables, patio, and the bartenders will become your best friend in 5 minutes!
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
The service and atmosphere was great. I love these dive bars! Definitely will be visiting this place again soon. If you're looking for a place to have a drink and relax, this is the place.

Tanya A.

Yelp
What a fun East Nashville place to see music!! A bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip!!!
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
My cousin, her husband and I stopped for some drinks here recently. We had a really nice visit. A great band, The Howlin' Brothers, was playing when we got there. Good music. We sat at the bar and had some good conversation with the bartenders. Music was not too loud that it limited our conversation. Overall a fun local spot.
google avatar

Jay I.

Yelp
Great music, triple wide behind a sex shop. What more could you want? Romantic atmosphere...

J N.

Yelp
This was my favorite bar in Nashville by a mile! The ambiance was great, staff and patrons were friendly, music was top notch (50 Shades of Hay), and margaritas were made from scratch and tasty. Will go back and would recommend to all as one of the best places to visit in Nashville.
google avatar

Trish M.

Yelp
Nick and I came in for a few drinks and live music on a Saturday night. We were promptly served at the bar and the bartender was super friendly. We ordered Korean beef tacos and pulled pork sliders. These were wonderful choices. We talked about how good the food was all night. The Korean beef tacos were flavorful and topped with a crunchy slaw. The sliders were more like six-inch subs! They were huge, and tasted like they were slow cooked for hours. The band was local, but it was a fun atmosphere. And our bill was pretty cheap, too. We actually went back Monday night just for the tacos!!! Were not disappointed.
google avatar

Scott G.

Yelp
Some of the best live music in town from a variety of genres. Good drinks at below market prices. No Ticketmaster service fees in sight! The Ryman is over rated. Go to Dee's instead.

Ryan N.

Yelp
Best bar, staff, atmosphere and live music in Nashville. It'll definitely become your favourite bar. Also has delicious food.
google avatar

Patrick M.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere for anyone over 50. Definitely a spot for regulars. The spot was full of smoke and lead by a band that seemed tune deaf. If you're looking for good music in the MUSIC CITY.. do not come here.

James R.

Yelp
fantastic spot! totally out of the way from the downtown madhouse, but that's a good thing! chill vibe. good music. great people. cheap drinks. you want to come here.

Liane R.

Yelp
We came for music on a Monday night. The bluegrass band that has become their house band was fabulous! We read lots of comments about the locals, but they were all friendly. The bartender was definitely on her game. We could def pass on the cigar smoking outside, but also it's outside, I suppose. We're from out of state but wish this was a local option for us!
google avatar

Frank H.

Yelp
Fun vibe and atmosphere. Drinks aren't a dive-bargain, but the place as a whole makes it a worthwhile visit. The music is always "free," though you should tip the band at least a couple bucks unless you really dislike them or their music. There's a pool table, darts, tables, a few couch seats around, etc. Again, Dee's is best described as fun and full of character... and characters. You should visit at least once.
google avatar

Cindy R.

Yelp
We went to the benefit organized by Brian Wright and Sally Jaye on the Thursday following the tornado. The place was jam-packed and overflowing into the parking lot and it was a wonderful experience. We had just arrived from Raleigh and were so touched by the outpouring of love and support by these musicians. Dee's did an amazing job and showed all the charm and character we had heard it had!
google avatar

Gregorio P.

Yelp
Was just in town visiting and decided to head here with my wife after a show at the Opry for a change of pace. This is your typical neighborhood dive bar with live music by local musicians trying out some new stuff. Smoking is not allowed inside but outside. Inside still looks a little foggy even without smoke. Drinks are made with prepackaged juices and flavors...so don't come here if you're looking for any kind of mixology or creative drinks...these bartenders are down home natural peeps. Everyone was friendly and service was great. For a dive bar, it brought back memories of high school and college. I'll be back one day!

Yelp
I live in Goodlettsville, but when it comes to bars, I almost always used to aim for Nashville when I wanted to wind down with drinks for the night. That is, until I discovered Dee's. This bar is a hidden gem in Madison. I know Madison gets a bad rap for crime, poverty, and such, and for good reason. However, Dee's is a great place for anyone to wind down, even if you live in Nashville. This bar is country no doubt; the name gives that away; but it's also got an element of class to it. It's not just your standard, redneck honky tonk. They have a full bar, including wine and cocktails (again, the name gives that part away), and even live music on some nights! The bartenders are always nice too. They're very generous when pouring liquor and don't worry about giving you *exactly* 1.25 oz. per shot. Oh, and did I mention Dee's has a FREE parking lot? That's something you won't find downtown!

Jeff F.

Yelp
Great off the strip authentic bar and live music venue. Pool table, sofa and outdoor space as well - what more do you need.
google avatar

Alexandra H.

Yelp
Best new hang in Madison! Went on opening weekend to see a bunch of friends perform & had a fabulous time! The sound was really good (tho the speakers were a little obstructive from where we were sitting). I loved the mid-century décore (especially in the ladies room). Nice, stiff drinks, super friendly staff & the homemade meatball grinder was out of this world!! The $3 Frito pie (served in the chip bag) is a perfect little pocket of deliciousness. Plenty of nearby parking, too.
google avatar

Allison A.

Yelp
Extremely covid friendly!!! Such a great atmosphere, great prices, a delicacy in greater Nashville for sure. The place to be for sure!
google avatar

Jimminy C.

Yelp
They don't get much cooler than this bar / music venue. Legit people, decent prices and sweetest bartender. The atmosphere is really hipster, but with a true southern country vibe and an awesome front porch! Thank you! Bring the tunes!
google avatar

Ben V.

Yelp
I was in town for a bachelor party. I was over the scene on Broadway with fall down drunks and huge lines. A Lyft driver recommended Dee's and dropped me off there. It was my favorite part of Nashville. The folks were the definition of southern hospitality. Drinks were strong, fairly priced, and ice cold on a sweltering day. The music is great and the front porch is perfect for getting to know what the South is really like. Thanks for a memorable afternoon Dee's! Can't wait to get back.
google avatar

Hailley G.

Yelp
Popped in here on a less busy night and it was lots of fun. Seems like they had a bit of an open mic and not ever performer was great (which is to be expected) but most were pretty good! The bar was a little slow getting drinks but they did have several options. Definitely seems like a fun, low-key place to hang out.
google avatar

Cristina H.

Yelp
Cheap drinks, simple but good food menu, excellent music on Tuesday nights (I've only ever been here on tuesdays). It's laid back, I've seen dogs on the porch and even when it gets crowded you can still order drinks (bring cash, it's faster). If you came to Nashville for a good music experience and don't mind the drive, this place is a prime spot to catch some talented veterans. It's out of the way but worth it if you have a few days here. Adult toy shop next door if you have to trouble finding it. Also the tacos are pretty good, was surprised to find a Thai option here.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Cute place. Small. Pretty loud and no one greeted me when I came in. Maybe they were just too busy serving because the bar was pretty full, so I won't take off points for that. However I did leave without buying any food or drinks because of it. Maybe I'll come back and give it another shot when it's quieter and less busy. Will update this review if/when I do.

Yelp
This place advertised live music...still waiting complete waste of time...dont bother

Yelp
Love, Love, Love Dee's. We moved to Madison over two years ago and have been dying to find a local bar that we could enjoy. This place is exactly what we were looking for. Great ambiance, live music, and unbelievably kind bartenders. This place is such a hidden gem.
google avatar

Deanie B.

Yelp
Nice place for party's. Need some country rock and more food choices. Great shots. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Nice looking bar with a pool table.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Amy Dee and her crew know how to throw down! Great happy hour specials (and no garbage liquor in her well drinks). Wide variety of live acts, and I've enjoyed all of them so far. I love all the '60s & '70s country bar decor, but my favorite fixture is probably the jukebox filled with - wait for it - real CDs, which can't be hijacked by TouchTunes trolls. If I lived closer, I'm pretty sure the floral couch and I would be besties.
google avatar

Kaeleigh M.

Yelp
Such a local gem. Good people, good drinks, and fun times with karaoke and live music. Never a dull time here

Cari-Ann R.

Yelp
Bar tender was cold, rude and not helpful, and did not seem to be aware of all the customers at the bar. Will not be spending my time and money at this establishment ever again.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Great place for locals and tourists. Stop by for friendly staff, a decent selection of booze, and some live music.

Cody C.

Yelp
The most disgusting experience I've ever had In a bar. My friend and I went in as cordial neighborhood customers. I came out of the bar and had little boys in my face screaming at me because I'm not leftist. We engaged several people and all our conversations were polite. I came out of the bathroom being screamed at by her and little boys. This gross little muppet screamed in my face, which only my dignity kept me from knocking him out. What is wrong with these little boys? I'm embarrassed for what a man used to be.

Tom W.

Yelp
Been my favorite place since moving to Madison. You will run into tons of great people when visiting Dees. There's always great musicians. All the patrons are calm and collected. The decor is low key and inviting. Great prices!
google avatar

Katerina L.

Yelp
Always feel comfortable here. Owners are nice, drinks are affordable and its an all around good neighborhood bar. Feels like TX and TN made a baby in bar form
google avatar

Liz L.

Yelp
I live in Inglewood and it is definitely worth the short drive to Madison to hang out at Dee's. Unpretentious in the best possible way. Delicious cocktails that I can actually afford! Excellent happy hour! The jukebox is free! They have frito pies served in the bag (or get it with Doritos for a special treat). Live music most nights.
google avatar

Jade L.

Yelp
Awesome bar! We showed up on a Thursday early evening and the vibe was very friendly and relaxed. I'm super picky about Margaritas and theirs was delicious! The owner, Amy Dee is down to earth and fun to talk to! Recommended to anyone that likes well made drinks and good music.
google avatar

Adam K.

Yelp
I feel that my review can't be complete cause we only stopped in for a beer during the day to kill some time. Though it became two beers cause it was a happy hour promotion. But they have Old Style, in Nashville? Yes and a few craft selections. The people there were friendly. We'd like to check it out at night. Don't sleep on this place, it's like an old school road house.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Perfect country themed dive bar for Madison. Nice 2-4-1 specials and a great small craft beer selection. Looking forward to more spots like this popping up!
google avatar

Tim F.

Yelp
Thanks guys for having such a great place to have a drink and listen to consistently great music! Whenever we find ourselves in and around Nashville we know there are friendly faces, great beer and nosh, and awesome tunes at Dee's!
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Is this a music venue or a sports bar? I love the decor and wanted to like this place but I went for the music and all I could hear was the hockey game playing on the tv...rude! It doesn't show support for musicians when a bar is drowning out the music with sports. You just can't do both things successfully.

Scott P.

Yelp
I concur with all the great reviews. What a little gem. Saw King Corduroy for free on a thursday night, and was just flat out awesome all round. Great little food menu too!
