Farm Workers Are in the Coronavirus Crosshairs | Eater

"A west-side Fresno grower who held a Spanish-language tailgate meeting for about 60 asparagus harvest crew to discuss coronavirus prevention and food-safety measures. The operation provides clean restrooms with fully equipped hand-washing stations, encourages regular hand-washing, sneezing into elbows, staying home when ill, and has added social-distancing rules and a prohibition on touching other workers; rows of asparagus are spaced about five feet so harvesters can generally maintain six-foot distancing. The employer also offers Obamacare-level free health insurance to seasonal and year-round employees after 30 days and notes that business continuity depends on employees feeling safe, though sick leave waits three months to take effect and carpooling and crowded housing remain unresolved risks." - Gosia Wozniacka

Best selection of watermelons you’ll ever find!! And the best service as well! Everyone of these is picked from the farm right across the freeway!

I was so glad to have found this farm stand. Luckily, the signage was put up early enough, so we had ample time to prepare to exit. This pitstop was so worth it! At the time of our arrival, there was only another couple that was about to complete their purchase. Eric, to my understanding one of the sons who works on the farm, had the time and was so sweet to answer my many questions. He was so knowledgeable, and he had the patience to explain a lot of things to me. My daughter and I ended up purchasing a variety of melons, some peaches and plums, some heirloom tomatoes, their own olive oil, 2 kinds of honey, and the freshest garlic I have bought in years! I am all about supporting our organic farmers rather than buying Glyphosate food at the stores. This stop is a must! I wish they were not so far from our home. Thank you, Eric and family, for what you do.

Tried a variety of watermelon. Safe to say this farm has the best in California. Also the staff was helpful and educational during our visit. Will be back soon

Google
Driving cross country for work as a commercial driver I’ve seen many advertisements along the roads but this one has the advantage of all the miles of farming goods you see on I5 heading south from Oregon that hints this may be the one :) This farm market was all I expected and some. Real fresh locally grown natures goodies. Great people, great experience, great location, super fair pricing, delicious figs, almonds, melons, apricots, pistachios and enough space across to turn around a big truck to get back on the California highway. Thanks Del Bosque Farms see you again. Wish u great yields always.

Lots of fresh melons, nuts, olive oils and honey. Big melon selection is the main reason to stop in, we did get some honey too which the the wife loves. Prices seemed a bit on the high side, no deals but a fun stop when driving.

We passed by Del Bosque Farms on our way to Sequoia Park and decided to stop to get fresh fruits. All the staff was there - a fourth generation family of farmers! The owner took the time to chat with us and explain all the water system, etc. It was so interesting! We were grateful they took the time to share their story with us. And what about the food. So many melons varieties. We got two big ones, nectarines, peaches and plums for 13$. So cheap for organic food!

Google
There was someone super friendly that explained all the melons and items. Everything was super tasty. We ended up buying a bunch of melons and the honey. The prices are very reasonable. There are fields out back. I would give even more stars if I could. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Such a pleasant surprise find along the I-5 while passing through! The sample of the Orange Watermelon had me wanting to purchase all of them! So hard to find flavorful melons in stores-- these are the best! Love supporting non-commercial small farms. Make the stop, it's worth it!

Yelp
Made a special day trip to the Red Barn (Del Bosque Farms) this past weekend from San Francisco. We used to go whenever we sent to see our son who went to UC San Diego for college. They have the best melons and really unique ones. This time they had lemon football, tremendous, cantalime, honeysaurus, piel de sapo as well as more normal ones like cantaloupe, watermelon, hami, casaba, canary and galia. They are organic, but even better so ripe and tasty. They are also so helpful describing each kind, helping us pick ripe ones and telling us different ways to use the melons. They had honey and figs (white and black) figs too. Prices were reasonable too. We combined our trip with eating at Pea Soup Andersons which is only 30 minutes away which made it a pleasant outing from the Bay Area.

Yelp
Another stop along I-5 at this farm store on Nov 4th to buy delicious sweet organic melons. The spaghetti squash made a wonderful vegetable side dish. The pie pumpkin & butternut squash will be used in a hearty vegetarian chili recipe.

Yelp
Cute little farm right off the 5! Everything is organic and they take card. They have porta poty bathrooms which are well maintained. Worth a pit stop

Yelp
O! M! G!!! I haven't had a cantaloupe this good in years! It was as actually vine ripened, juice, and wonderful. The pluots were incredible too. It was a nice "adventure " ride out in the country and so worth it. I can't wait to go back again. It's a MUST TRY for fresh fruits and the icing on top is its organic.

Yelp
Great place. Turns out it's a melon farm! OMG they must have had 20 different varieties of mostly organic melons. And they sell honey from the bees that pollinate the melons. Excellent flavor. Plus a mix of other fruit including figs! Melons include Crenshaw, Hami, Cantelope, watermelon plus a bunch I've never heard of. What a treat. We bought 8 melons for us and for gifts. Highly recommended. Knowledgeable staff. Good prices.

Yelp
They have the best medium size watermelons by far. Their pistachio is unsalted and very flavorful. Will stop again when I am on Hwy 5.

Real fun stop don't pass it by! Family owned and run all organic. Nice lady let us try lots of different melons most of which I'd never even seen before. Yelp
My family and I were on the way to San Francisco when we had some car trouble. Not only did this gentleman let me use his tools, but he actually got under the car himself as well and helped to fix it! We would have been stranded had it not been for this amazing good samaritan! Truly a wonderful person.

Anish M.

Yelp
Such great and affordable produce and such a kind person. Will definitely stop again on i5.

Yelp
Thank you Ramon! We had an amazing experience! Prices were great and everything was 100% organic. Will comeback soon and spread the word!
