A Mixed Experience in a Stunning Setting
We recently dined at Del Frisco’s in Philadelphia and were truly impressed by the atmosphere. Housed in what used to be a historic bank, the space feels incredibly regal and grand. The soaring ceilings adorned with intricate crown moldings add a unique charm that sets the tone for an upscale experience. It’s definitely a place where you’ll want to dress up, be aware that the dress code is enforced.
One of the highlights for me personally was that they offer a dedicated gluten-free menu, which took the guesswork out of ordering and made the evening much more enjoyable.
Service was top notch. Our server, Anthony, deserves special mention for his attentive, knowledgeable approach. He timed everything perfectly from appetizers to drinks to entrées and made sure we felt well taken care of the entire evening.
When it comes to the food, the appetizers were the unanimous favorite. I had the lump crabmeat cocktail, which was fresh, generously portioned, and paired with flavorful sauces. Others at our table raved about the dynamite shrimp (the star of the night) and the Philly cheesesteak dumplings, both crowd-pleasers.
Unfortunately, the main courses were more of a mixed bag. I ordered the salmon based on Anthony’s recommendation. While the flavor was nice, it was slightly overcooked and dry. The same went for the lamb dish my eldest son ordered, it looked amazing but turned out a bit tough. On the bright side, the filet mignon (6 oz) and my husband’s surf and turf trio were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious.
The sides were a hit across the board. I especially enjoyed the mushrooms and asparagus, which were fresh and full of flavor. The boys loved the mashed potatoes too.
We were too full for dessert, but I appreciated that the menu offered gluten-free options like sorbet and fresh berries for those who save room.
Overall, I’d say Del Frisco’s offers a memorable setting, excellent service, and standout starters. It’s a great option for special occasions or family celebrations, especially if you’re mindful about dietary restrictions. Just know that not all entrees are created equal but the highs are definitely worth experiencing.
