All-Outdoor Restaurant Pops Up at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar | Eater San Diego

"I visited the Del Mar Social Club, an outdoor pop-up on the Grand Lawn of the Fairmont Grand Del Mar that grew out of the hotel's popular Fireside Lounge and is running through October with potential to continue beyond. The expanded open-air setup spans 10 cabanas, eight fire pit-topped tables and a 24-foot communal table; cabanas and fire pit tables offer full service and can be reserved online with free parking and no booking fees, while walk-ins are accepted at the self-service communal table. The walk-up bar features a rotating roster of frozen cocktails, customizable spritzes made with sparkling rosé and your choice of aperitif, and a Bees Knees made with saffron and honey from the hotel's on-site hives. The open, interactive kitchen centers on a wood-fired oven and serves roasted spot prawns, whole Dungeness chile crab, Neapolitan pizzas, fresh oysters, and s'mores kits to cook at personal fire pits. There are lawn games and tabletop games (including table foosball and sling hockey) available on request, and the pop-up hosts some sort of live entertainment every day it's open; initial hours are Thursday–Friday 4 p.m.–10 p.m., Saturday noon–10 p.m., and Sunday noon–5 p.m., with likely extensions." - Candice Woo

Can't say enough good things about Del Mar Social! We held our annual Awards event there and I've heard rave reviews from all our guests. This was our 21st year holding this event and I'm pretty confident it may have been our best one yet. Audrey, the event manager and owner, was a pleasure to work with. Very communicative, helpful, available, responsive, and understanding in dealing with some last minute adjustments on our end. We had a little over 100 people in attendance and the space was more than enough for what we needed! Great cocktail hour area, outdoor area, and perfect set up for dinner. Food was amazing (we did the Mediterranean option) - fresh, well prepared, and delicious. Bartenders (Ben) were super helpful in not only managing the bar & pouring drinks but in setting up some last minute tables and moving things around for our guests. Super affordable, amazing vibe (especially around sunset), clean and the back room with the TV is a great area to hold for VIPs or just take a breather during the event. We hosted our daughter’s Bat Mitzvah at Del Mar Social last weekend. It was a terrific event and we are SO thrilled that we chose DMS for the venue! Audrey was great to work with, they were very flexible (we could bring in rental furniture, we could bring in an outside dessert vendor), the price was fair and they assisted with some decor needs as well. Picture was of some of the appetizers. Our guests (who appreciate great food) all said the food was outstanding and one friend was even asking the owner if he’d provide catering food for an event at their house. Also, must be located in a great area. After our event, my daughter inadvertently left my designer purse filled with cash, checks, gift cards and other sentimental items and a second bag in their parking lot at 10:45pm. We didn’t realize for 36 hours and went back to find the bags safely stored under a tent in their parking lot. I assume perhaps a worker, or someone else in the area, came across the bags, which had been left in the back of the parking lot, when DMS was closed so they stored them there for us to find. We were beyond appreciative that the bags were left for us, and completely untouched! We left a note hoping the person who found them would contact me for a reward but no one called. Highly recommend DMS!!

My friend had her daughter's baby shower here. There is a small parking lot in front of the venue, a small one to the side and plenty of street parking . It has outside patio area to play games and also I had tables for eating. It looked like the venue can be split into two separate rooms. Between the inside and outside that was enough space to comfortably seat 70 people. The restroom was staged outside in a trailer and they were really well kept and look nice. I would recommend having an event here.

We had an amazing experience at Del Mar Social. It is such a great space by having the outside space as well as the big room inside with an additional room in the back. Audrey was able to work with our budget and find the right catering option. Their Mediterranean food was absolutely delicious and all our guests enjoyed it. Easy parking and just such a great atmosphere. Highly recommend this place for your events.

this guy seem to offer a space that you can rent for different events. I’ve done several wine pick ups here from a winery that I belong to, and we have always had a good time there. There’s ample parking, indoor and outdoor space. It’s a casual venue, but would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a place to host an event.

I recently planned and hosted a military ball at Del Mar Social. They made the process so easy by providing decorations, quick thinking on their feet for last minute mishaps, and kind staff. The Mediterranean buffet was a hit amongst attendees and was hands down better/healthier than banquet buffets. I would like to give a special thanks to Audrey for making the planning process so easy! I was actually able to have fun, despite having to be behind the scenes because of Audrey. Thanks again to all of the talented staff at Del Mar Social!!

This is a fascinating venue with lots of indoor and outdoor space. I attended a Masters party for a golf-related company, and they had cornhole, seats, bar tables, and even televisions set up outside while the large inside (2 large rooms) had the food, drinks, vendor tables, and TVs, tables, drinks, and plenty of room to roam around. The bathrooms are pretty and clean, and there's even an interesting lounge with quirky memorabilia. Since I wasn't the event organizer/host, I can't speak to how it was to plan the event. However, as an attendee, I was pleasantly surprised at what was here in the middle of an industrial area and would definitely keep this on my list of possible venues for events.

Love love love!!! I'm thrilled with how my jobs Holiday Party turned out and it was all thanks to coordinator, Audrey, at Del Mar Social. This is our second year coming here and it was just as fantastic as before. We had great music (you can even put on your own playlists) amazing food (many menus to choose from, we had Mexican), all sorts of games (we brought some of our own, but they also had more!) and just a great staff who helped us out with everything we could have possibly needed The party itself was from 5-11 (thank you again because I originally messed up the time, day of Audrey fixed it for me omg I was thankfulllllll ) we had a wonderful cook who made amazing Mexican food, an outstanding bartender, and everyone else who helped us was automatically hands down, the best. We had an amazing, fun night and we appreciate all the help we had in making it enjoyable

I absolutely love this venue and those who run it! I found this venue searching for a place to host a small to medium sized charity event. I reached out and they were very responsive. I met up with Audrey to take a tour and it was perfect for what I needed - she was ready to answer any and all questions I had and was easily accessible. The day of the event, Ayal and Audrey were very attentive and helpful, allowing me to use their kitchen (you can bring your own, have vendors come in or they can cater as well!), rearrange furniture as I wanted and they provided extra tables and table cloths for me to use. There's an indoor portion with 2 large garage doors (perfect for airflow during COVID), a bar area in the back with a large screen TV. The outdoor portion with plenty of lighting and furniture. They also offered a mini platform stage for me to use. The space is very versatile. I had the Polynesian group I dance with perform at the event, and ever since then, Del Mar Social has been the group's go to spot from other charity events to our annual Christmas party. The food they provide is delicious and the drinks are great! It's always nice to come to events hosted by this venue, and to see Audrey, Ayal and their team.

Del Mar Social's emergence on the scene is a huge win for the community. This open air warehouse offers an inviting area for a multitude of events. The artistic venue is suitable for corporate events, art workshops, weddings, and of course live music. I attended a live Easy Wind show and had such a fun time. The unique outdoor space was big enough to accommodate several popup businesses like a brewery, a food vendor and a couple of clothing businesses and was surrounded by low comfortable lounges. Inside the warehouse I danced in a large room decorated with art and murals. The adjoining room provided a long bar and comfortable seating for anyone needing a break from the dance floor. During a set break I was fortunate enough to meet the owner, Ayal, whose vision of a community space where people not only meet other people but develop relationships. He was open to new and creative uses of this magical space. Tucked away from the road, with ample parking, this au courant venue is a treasure in the making.

When I was tasked in looking for a last minute venue for our company holiday party Del Mar Social came to the rescue. They provided everything from food bartenders, games, tables and chairs, and the decor, . . .we just provided the booze and the people. Everyone had a great time. This place is every mans dream of a man cave and can also be transformed to a beautiful wedding venue. The staff is incredible. 2 thumbs up

What a great venue! I attended an event for KPBS at this spot tonight and they did a phenomenal job! The venue provides catering, bartenders, furniture (tables and chairs, etc.), and great attitudes. The staff was so friendly and helpful. It was an amazing spot that I'm now considering for my event for next year.

The PERFECT party venue! I threw a dance/birthday party and wanted an open venue that wasn't as restrictive as a hotel, restaurant or harbor cruise. This place is perfect! Separate hip huge bar area with a surf/biker/library vibe; large open area zen/beach vibe for dj, dancing and several scattered and comfy seating areas; large outdoor area w scattered seating. I was able to bring my own dj, taco guy and drinks and had the venue do the appetizers and desserts, and Ayel did an amazing job with those, using many items from his own yard. Audrey had several suggestions for decorations, but let me keep it simple and she did a great job with all the layouts. Everyone was able to catch up in an intimate spot, or join me on the dance floor.

I recently was invited to this place and my experience was bad ! It started with the food that the owner of the place cooked with only one other employee that was in charge both on the food and the garbage and of course that he used the same gloves Accept from the understaff, when my boyfriend complained to the owner about the situation by saying the word "horrible",the owner just kicked him out by saying the "f" word and started acting violent towards my boyfriend. I won't comeback for sure.

We were celebrating my husband and his friend for their 50th birthdays, and found Ayal's place through friends' recommendations. Our needs were unique; we wanted to throw up a house band ( us and some other musicians we know) and play for our guests. Ayal was very accommodating, and allowed us to set up early in the day and rehearse our set. During the event, the manager, Audrey, was helpful, friendly, organized, and professional. Drinks were generous, guests said the food was delicious, and the sound system and lights were all on point. We initially had planned for 120 guests and ordered food accordingly, but over 170 guests showed up, unbeknownst to us! The staff accommodated everyone and there was enough food, thank goodness! Our personal experience was that it was a fantastic, memorable night for my husband and I.

A great space and seamless event planning process! I recently booked this for a nurse practitioner appreciation event and everything was great! The indoor/outdoor space really came in handy when we got some unexpected rain the day of the event. The food was delicious, they worked with our budget, and so many guests commented on how much they enjoyed the event! We even had to kick people out (nicely) at the end because they were having such a nice time. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again for a future event.

I hosted multiple events at this venue - the administration and organization is tight, the Mediterranean catering is fresh and flavorful, and the owner is both gracious and flexible to accommodate all sorts of quirky things we requested. The location itself is unique - very close to Carmel Valley and easy to get to, but remote enough so no neighbors to disturb. My guests always have a blast.

The area was in desperate need of an event venue and Del Mar Social delivers with extra services and charm too! First of all the venue- views outside, inside decor, furniture, it was all very nice. The service was out of this world both chefs and the hosts treated you like you are the only person there- even though it was a big event. I'm just getting around to taking care of reviews. Sorry all. Let me tell you, I work in the wedding industry and this place was the best decision we made. Picking this place for our wedding venue was amazing!!!!! The service is fabulous, the owner is there on site helping and even cooking, because believe it or not they cater too!!! The food was fantastic! Audrey was on top of everything for us. They do use basic decorations and if you want your own colors or decorations as long as you drop them off the day before your event the team will set everything up for you. The only thing that we couldn't control was the weather, so just no that this venue is open, inside and out and it does not have AC. They do have fans and thank goodness foe that. But you can't control the weather and we got married started the hottest weekend of the year. Thank you all for everything we seriously had such a blast. I have been telling everyone looking for a venue to reach out to you all. Your whole team was perfect and kind and we appreciate everything you did for us.

We attended a celebration event in November at Del Mar Social for my niece's upcoming marriage. There were about 60 people in attendance. The venue features an inside/outside setup (roll up doors) which was fantastic on a beautiful afternoon. Very open and easy to move around. Plenty of bar tables and couches to have conversation. It has a very nice bar area as well. Best of all was the Mediterranean food that was prepared and served by the owner of the place. It was outstanding. This is a great venue for such an event and I would recommend it without reservation.

I recently attended a 50th Birthday and considering way more folks turned up than was originally anticipated, the owner was very polite, and nimble despite the influx of people all arriving at the same time. The food was worth a nano second of patience, which was needed in order to take in the epic establishment that had both quirkiness coupled with uber sophistication on display throughout. I would highly recommend for food, service and a big A * for ambience. LOVE IT!!! Must be seen to be believed!

My wife and I went to a birthday event and had such a great time! The location is perfect because it is right off the freeway and there is plenty of parking. The party started in the late afternoon and the outdoor space was amazing. The food and drinks were superb and plentiful. We had a great time and I highly recommend Delmar social for social events.

This place is incredible. We had a lunch for a family gathering catered by Ayal and Audrey, and they were fantastic. They were super responsive in the lead up to the event, and very willing to customize the menu, decorations, provide decorations as we wanted them, and in general answer all of our questions very promptly. It made the process of organizing the event super convenient. And the day of the event was also excellent. The food was fantastic! We went with the Mediterranean menu, and some of the dishes were out of this world. I don't even know what they were... but everything tasted amazing. The venue itself is also nice, spacious, with plenty of room, making for a good indoor /outdoor space. We had about 50 guests, and were super comfortable. The staff was also excellent, and managed to run the show without any glitches. Overall-- can not recommend these folks enough. Thanks, Ayal and Audrey !

I can say enough about this place ! I was looking for a unique venue for my wife's 40th surprise party and a friend told me to go check it out. I met with Audrey & Ayal and took a tour and just fell in love! The venue is rustic and has a nice groove to it, really a California vibe. we i booked the place it was during the day and Ayal told me come tomorrow evening and see it at night and what a difference. the place comes to life ! Long story short it's been 4 Months and i am still getting raves about the party ! Please go check it out its truly a local Gem

This is the PERFECT party venue. Seriously. It has the coolest set up and artwork, a bar in the back with seating, two restrooms and ample walking space/meeting space. It has an open-air meeting room that brings in the ocean breeze. On top of that, they have an outside area with misters where catering can grill and guests can hang out. We had a company offsite (2 days) and Audrey was an excellent host. She made the planning process so simple and was available whenever I had questions. We had the entire venue booked out for two days and had their team cater. I have NEVER received such positive feedback from my team regarding food @ an event. They said it was the BEST food they have had at any company event. We had teammate travel from MX that were super impressed with the originality of the venue. This was the most successful team offsite as everyone was so impressed with the venue and the hosts. I cannot thank Audrey and the team enough for making sure our fully remote company had a memorable team offsite. I HIGHLY recommend contacting them for any event, birthday party, team offsite, whatever! 5 stars to Del Mar Social!!

We had a disco-themed 50th birthday party with over 50 guests. The site was extremely flexible with belly tables and regular height tables as well as indoor and outdoor seating. No noise ordinances which is a huge plus. Audrey is highly detail-oriented and makes great suggestions for all aspects. Ayal leads the catering and our guests were blown away by the Mediterranean dishes. We dropped off our decor the day before. Staff hung things up/set everything up, and we were able to leave after the party care-free and arrange pick up of remaining items a couple days later. Everything was EASY!

We held our staff holiday party at Del Mar Social and it was by far the best private party venue anyone could ask for. The authentic Mediterranean food came out in huge portions with the most delicious chicken and beef kebabs, sauces, and salads, and they accommodated for all the various dietary restrictions in our group. Ayal and Lee (father and son duo) were gracious and generous hosts that set up the beautiful decor, lighting, music, and overall hip and cool atmosphere. There is plenty of seating, high top tables for mingling, and a separate cocktail/bar area for lounging. This should be your next go to space for any party, meeting, or celebration!

Held a corporate event attended by approximately 80 people. The venue was very nice, clean and spacious with excellent utility. Staff was very friendly. Food was delicious. Overall, an excellent experience. Will definitely book another event with this venue. Thank you for a great job!

We had our staff party at Del Mar Social and I cannot say enough about how wonderful everything turned out. Audrey, the event coordinator, was AMAZING and made everything SO easy! She was always attentive to my many emails and questions and made me feel so at ease. She even prepared a special menu at the bar with no extra charge! Audrey and her team were so kind and helpful- they made all accommodations to make our event a true success!! I HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for a chill atmosphere with a great ambience and great people to work with, this IS the place to have your event. Many, many thanks to Audrey and team for allowing us to experience this special venue and the awesome service! I am so looking forward to setting up a personal event at Del Mar Social and working with them again. Trust, you will not be disappointed!! This is a one stop shop that will meet all your needs!

what an amazing place. I love this venue. i have come out here a few times for different parties that my friends invited me to. It is always a great time. the owner Ayal and the lady who works their Audrey are awesome. they are always there making you feel like family. the space is filled with very cool decor and music. The food is on point and amazing.

We participated in a fundraiser held here and it was an amazing venue. The people were so friendly and the venue itself was beautiful, perfect for so many different kind of events. Definitely check it out next time you're hosting.

I love this venue- so cozy and inviting! We've seen 2 concerts here and can't wait to go back. People are friendly, dogs are welcome, family oriented, easy to park, great food trucks, great drinks- what's not to love!!

Ayal and Audry made my event Birthday party magical. I cannot say enough about this beautiful venue. It's an open room that is decorated with furniture that makes you feel comfortable, yet elegant. High bar patio tables with chairs. Beautiful couches that makes everyone comfortable. Heaters everywhere to keep you warm. They decorated the room with candles and poinsettias on the tables, which made the room so comfortable and chic. It brought the Christmas spirit into the room. Everyone who attended fell in love with the venue. I chose the Mediterranean menu and everyone raved about the taste and flavors of the main dishes and the side dishes. They also have a beautiful and chic bar area that invites you to lounge and enjoy your beverage. I had a quartet of musicians playing live music, and they said that this venue is by far, one of the most impressive and cool rooms they've played in. I highly recommend this venue. Ayal and Audry will make it magical for you. Another plus, is the ample parking.
