Google Maps Review:
I had an appalling and dehumanizing experience at this Del Taco location around 9:20 PM on Taco Tuesday. Despite the store being clearly advertised as open until 10 PM, I, a Black man, was left standing outside in the cold while I watched a Caucasian woman being served at the counter. It was evident that she had been selectively allowed entry, as she seemed confused and uncomfortable when instructed to exit through a different door to avoid letting me in.
This wasn’t about the store being busy or facing an issue; it was a deliberate act of discrimination. The staff, led by a spiteful manager, blatantly ignored me, even as I made it clear that I expected to place an order. No signs were posted suggesting the lobby was closed, and there was no explanation or justification for locking me out. Instead, I was treated as if I was some kind of intruder, while drive-thru customers and other select individuals were served.
What’s even worse is that this kind of behavior appears to be part of a pattern. This same manager has repeatedly demonstrated contempt for customers who rely on EBT benefits—an accepted payment method at this location. On multiple occasions, I’ve noticed false “EBT not working” signs, conveniently placed during evening hours, only for the system to be mysteriously working again by the next morning. These actions target foot traffic—primarily EBT users who walk to the restaurant—and are clearly rooted in prejudice against those receiving government assistance.
The actions of this manager go beyond mere negligence; they are discriminatory, hateful, and intentionally demeaning. As a regular customer who has done nothing but show up to order food and leave, I will not tolerate being treated like less of a human being. This type of cold-hearted, targeted behavior has no place in any business, and the fact that it’s happening so blatantly is outrageous.
I am calling for immediate accountability. No one should have to endure this kind of treatment, and I hope others who’ve experienced similar discrimination will speak out as well. Del Taco, do better. Your reputation and values are being dragged down by spiteful, unprofessional employees who think they can treat certain customers however they wish.
This experience was dehumanizing, discriminatory, and unacceptable. Until this issue is addressed, I cannot recommend this location to anyone. I absolutely will be following this up with corporate tomorrow, despite this managers assumption that people like me who are down on their luck at the very temporary moment, aren’t educated, don’t have a voice, need not be treated fairly, and are incapable of writing letters or following up with people who do not care if you are “the manager”; you think no one with ebt has ever had a job!? You think only certain types of people are capable of “calling the police on you”? Keep that same attitude that some American citizens are second class and subject to your behavior, unlike you little girl pretending to be an 40 year old adult, I am a grown man! I promise you this lewd behavior will not continue! She is clearly a liability to this franchise! That was so nasty! I WILL handle this absolutely horrible behavior, I have done NOTHING TO DESERVE THST, I will NOT TOLERATE IT! I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH SHAMEFUL BEHAVIOR BY A PERSON WHO WASN’T LITERALLY QUITTING THAT VERY DAY! IF YOU ARE EXPECTING TO KEEP YOUR JOB AT THAT LOCATION, AFTER THAT I PROMISE YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON THE WORLD IS EVEN MORE TWISTED THAN I THOUGHT! SERIOUSLY, WHAT DID YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN? Nothing?? “Hahaha Im the manager I wont fire me! if its my descision to treat people one way or another then its OKay, ha want food but I’m not listening 🙉 i cant hear you 🙉 lines empty..
[as if after this example of behavior I’d have any reason to believe in the leadership even at Corporate @ Del Taco; any professionalism from a company that runs a key location like this is cooked. I’m sick to my stomach by the behavior of this business!]
