Mikiko Ando does it again! I dined here with my husband, sister, and a friend to do a very belated celebration of all the things we couldn't celebrate during the pandemic. This was the last restaurant we ate at in 2020 prior to everything shutting down and our lives drastically changing over the last couple years, and one of the first to dine inside again after everything is starting to look brighter. I'm so happy this restaurant survived and is still operating.
$100 for a prix fixe omakase menu, and this time you pre-pay and view the drinks menu on your phone. The April 3rd menu consisted of the following 8 courses:
1. amuse-bouchée: crystal bread with smoked salmon
2. first course: seasonal fruit salad with pear, blood orange, mixed greens, beet cream (WOW!), onion pearls, ponzu honey, shichimi rice chips, edible flowers, etc.
3. second course: unagi (eel) sushi and cherry blossom avocado sushi wrapped in bamboo leaf
4. third course: four pieces of nigiri sushi - bluefin tuna (mmm), ocean trout (yum yum! YUM!), katsuo skipjack, and octopus
5. palate cleanser: sparkling plum juice with yuzu foam (oh my goodness)
6. fourth course: steamed gindara (black cod), slow cooked pokato, green chickpea miso sauce (wooooow) - and it looked like a pond of koi fish!
7. fifth course: two mini bowls of chirashi
8. sixth course: four pieces of nigiri - tai, halfbeak, aji (Spanish mackerel), and ama ebi (shrimp)
9. seventh course: kombu umami broth with yuzu zest and arare
10. eighth course: pomegranate mochi with soft raw chocolate, kuromitsu (Japanese black honey), and fresh fruits
A lovely 2-hour dining experience. They have even less seats (about 10 per seating, so total 20 people per evening) than before the pandemic, so make your reservations ahead of time and prepare for a lovely, beautifully presented and delicious Japanese meal from an extremely talented female sushi chef.
