Yemeni Cafe Delah Coffee Is Set to Open a Second Location in Uptown Oakland - Eater SF

"Delah Coffee House is bringing new espresso drinks and big sofas to Broadway. Omar Jahamee, the owner of SoMa’s Delah Coffee House, has confirmed plans to open a second location of his Yemeni-style coffee house in the Bay Area. This time, the business will take over a former Starbucks at 420 West Grand Avenue in Oakland, right off Broadway. The young co-owner and manager says loads of the shop’s fans live in the East Bay, namely in Richmond and Berkeley, so expanding to the Town made a lot of sense. “It’s the perfect spot for us,” Jahamee says. The new location, which is set to open in mid-December or by the end of the year, was vacated by the union-busting coffee chain when the franchise moved into a bigger space across the street. Delah Coffee House was the first Bay Area cafe to highlight coffee’s geographical origins in both the design of the shop and its menu. Plenty of third-wave shops incorporate farmers’ stories from throughout the Coffee Belt, but, as Yemen was the first country to commercially export coffee through its Port of Mokha, honoring North Africa’s importance in coffee’s history is often relegated to the coffee bag alone. In addition to crowd-pleasers like the Yemeni Latte and Bee Bites (cream cheese-stuffed bread, served hot, with honey on top), the new location will feature a few signature items. The Dubai Refresher is a lighter drink full of lemon, lime, mint, and sparkling water, whereas the saffron latte will invoke some of the aromatic drinks Delah is already well-known for in SoMa. “We found a ratio between the spice with the coffee we like,” Jahamee says. The seating will look a little different, too. The hope in this location is to offer more family-friendly seating, like the traditional Yemeni sofas Jahamee says are common in cafes back home. The decor will also be a bit more upgraded, not that the coffee maps and delah pots in the first location are anything to scoff at. As the young business keeps growing, Jahamee hopes its fan base continues to swell and that more and more locations can sprout up throughout the Bay Area and the state. “Quality-wise, we will stay the same,” Jahamee says." - Paolo Bicchieri

This place is a vibe. I'm a sucker for a place with a good aesthetic. It is beautifully decorated and the drinks are pretty tasty. I had the chai and the other person I was with had the pistachio latte. They are one of the few places that still has comfy seating areas. They had delicious looking pastries and desserts but I haven't tried them yet. I recommend checking them out.

This coffee shop is so beautiful! I love the gold accents and decorations! The staff was nice and the coffee is even better! They have coffee flavors I’ve never had before but enjoyed! And they also have cakes and different delicious treats! I definitely want to come back and try other drinks and snacks I just wish they had a parking lot!

Google
VERY nice ambience, appreciated even moreso as a middle eastern girl myself. their coffee menu and sweet options are so good! so much to choose from. i thought i would try their yemeni latte (iced) and it was amazing because it had no extra sugar, but the addition of cardamom and i believe cinnamon added so much flavour to the coffee!

I liked the decor of the cafe, definitely feels different from other coffee shops. I had a Rose Latte and Rose Milk cake. The cake was actually delicious, wanted to try the saffron too but it was sold out when I ordered, then they brought out a new pan so maybe one of their more popular slices. Rose Latte not a fan of. It's bigger compared to other cafes which caught me by surprise, but the coloring isn't rose; it's beet juice, making the latte grainier than expected. Was not a fan of the baristas, they seemed like they didn't want to be there. The trash area was stacked crazy and just not maintained at all. The focaccia looked great but not labeled so I didn't know how they differed. Their bathroom? Disgusting. Trash all over the floor and there was no seat covers. Which is fine I guess except there was so much pee on the seat. Which is crazy because I went in after an employee. She didn't seem to care about cleaning it up at all. When she was back from her bathroom break, the other barista behind the bar had to motion her for help. Maybe she was on a lunch break? Overall, the table I sat at wobbled. I was excited for a bit more. Definitely interesting coffee but I wouldn't come back for another drink. Maybe to try other cakes and food but service? Terrible. Atmosphere was more like a 3/10 and people seemed to like working here, maybe I just got the last seat available.

Google
Nice little cafe located in downtown Oakland that’s a unique experience from your typical third wave coffee roasters in the Bay Area. Delay is a middle eastern coffee shop so they specialize in Yemeni coffees and teas. I tried the Adeni chai which was a solid choice. The tea had milk flavors and some spices which added to the drink, though I wish the spice flavor was a bit stronger. Next time I’d try one of their coffee based drinks instead. The inside is nice and clean and had plenty of sitting area too if you’re looking to get some work done.

Review for Delah Coffee – Saturday, 4/5/2025 at 11:24 PM The atmosphere was great—very cozy and inviting. However, I ordered the Adani tea and unfortunately it didn’t sit well with me. Shortly after leaving, I started feeling discomfort and dryness. Hoping this was just a one-off, but wanted to share my experience.

Google
Beautiful coffee shop with great coffee. I got a hot special latte with cardamom and I forgot to ask for sugar so it wasn’t sweetened but it was still good. It balanced out the saffron milk cake that was super delicious. Reminded me of a tres leches cake but with a firm texture and a delicious milky bottom. I want to say it’s the best milk cake I’ve ever had. This is a spot I am definitely coming back to visit when I’m in the area.

Google
The Yemeni Tea was quite good (a bit like chai without milk) but very strong. When they ask if you want some sugar in it I recommend saying yes.

Yelp
This is a very cute coffee spot but it was definitely crowded and busy. I got the matcha tea latte and the rose milk cake. The rose cake was so fragrant and reminded me of a tres leche cake with the taste of a rose but don't worry it was not over powering. The matcha latte was also mixed well and I really enjoyed it.

Yelp
I've been to the one in the SOMA, and simply liked the lotus cheesecake. Still my favorite. We tried the pistachio cheesecake too, which was good and not sweet. I usually order the Yemeni latte, which was good, but underwhelming. The place is kind of small, with some fun seating. Staff aren't really welcoming and did not call out the order when completed. Drinks and items just sat there.

Yelp
I really want to like this place. It's a sweet spot with amazing Turkish delights (which highly recommend the variety) but every time I go there are full tables of people on laptops - no one eating or drinking from the cafe itself (or at least the drink/food is long gone) so there's no where to sit for a minute to drink/eat with a friend. There have now been 2 times I've gone in a single day (mid morning and mid afternoon) only to find the same people occupying tables with laptops (4 hours apart is a long time to just sit at a cafe shop and hog limited space) if they start limiting laptop use it would make it a better ambiance. In terms of drinks- cold drinks have all been amazing. I tried the rose latte this last time and it was disgusting. literally not a hint of rose it was just burnt coffee (it was decaf) the chai- amazing! All in all a mixed bag if you're looking for a place to sit for hours on end and work on stuff - this seems like a good spot. If you're planning on just meeting someone for coffee/a short visit- look elsewhere.

Yelp
Cute Yemeni Cafe. Warm & iced teas, Turkish coffee was so good and the rose milk cake was simply Yum!!! Our other favorites are the Saffron Milk Cake & the Rose Latte Macchiato. Everything here is so good. The savories are delicious as well. You order at the front and take your items to your table. Service at the front is quick. Definitely coming back here for more!!

Yelp
Delah is a coffee spot nestled in the heart of Oakland near the 19th Street BART station, walkable. They have individual servings of coffee and pots/carafes served on beautiful trays with sugar, tea light candles and a cup. Visually very appealing to the eye. I paired my carafe of Delah Mofowar, a blend of medium roast coffee, cardamom and cream, with a lotus cake and a chicken meat pie. The coffee was delicious, sugar on the side so you can adjust to your individual tastes but the coffee spoke for itself. I had the lotus cake which is very reminiscent of a tres leches cake but with less sugar, hints of spices and the lotus were subtle but noticeable, the chicken meat pie was okay, nothing to scream about and fell apart with every bite, it was similar to a minced meat with seasoning. The decor is absolutely beautiful, large paintings on the walls of hues of cream, browns and blacks with gold accent. An embossed ceiling in black, an array of various lamps, areas that had simple tables and an area with a large u shaped wall with pillows, fur, small tables for the coffee, decorative ethnic pieces in various places. The serving tray and coffee ensemble was glass and a bronze. Service was great. It's a walk up ordering, no table service but plenty of seating while you wait. Service was efficient and polite. Having never been there and not familiar with all of the foods, gentleman at counter was patient and kind in answering my questions. All in all an experience to be had, visually so pretty, service was great. Coffee was very good. 4, 4.5 if I could because I felt the food choices need some work in taste and presentation. While lotus cake was given to me on a plate the chicken meat pie was a noisy paper bag and probably the last thing patrons relaxing/working want to hear.

Yelp
Yemeni coffee shop with variety of drinks and desserts. On the pricier side, but appreciate the free WiFi and tables + Yemeni Latte ($6.75): cinnamon and cardamom latte, liked that there wasn't sweetener but overall just ok (7/10) + Pistachio Latte ($7.85): very expensive but was the best pistachio latte I've had (8/10)
google avatar

JR L.

Yelp
Delicious drinks and yummy treats! The pistachio latte is one of their signatures for good reason. If you like your coffee on the sweeter side, I'd recommend this. The milk cake was light, moist, and great flavor. We also tried the pistachio milk cake which was yummy too.

Yelp
Every time I'm in Oakland I make it a point to stop by. So good! Thud time I bought a bff of chai to try to make it at home.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop that is also a great place to work in. I ordered their rose coffee (iced) which had a delightful taste and their baklava (pastry) -- a memorable treat. The cashier was friendly and welcoming. I took my stuff to go but definitely will be checking out more items next time. Would love to come back whenever I'm around!

Yelp
A Beautiful coffee shop. I had the jubani and it doesn't come with milk but I asked for it with milk. The coffee was piping hot. I had to wait a good while before it was safe to sip. I could smell and taste the cardamom, ginger and cinnamon. The pistachio milk cake was nothing like I've had before. It tastes like a pistachio tres leches cake. The bitterness of my coffee really mellowed out the sweetness of the cake. This was my first time getting Arabic coffee, I didn't know it would come piping hot so it wasn't the easiest to drink. I would try their chai or Yemeni latte next time.

Yelp
I came here weeks ago. I love the vibes and atmosphere. The staff here are great. They were celebrating their one year anniversary of being open when I visited and treated all their guests to the milk cake. 4 stars for the drink, milk cake, staff and ambiance of the place.

Yelp
This review comprises two different visits. The first time, I bought a slice of chocolate cheesecake, and a slice of kunafa cheesecake. They also sold pistachio and lotus flavors. I thought they were fine, I liked the chocolate better than the kunafa, but not mindblowing in all the cheesecakes I've ever tried. The second time, I ordered a Too Good to Go discount surprise bag. I was rather surprised that the worker helping me just put the pastries directly into a takeout bag that looks like a gift bag, without putting the pastries into any smaller bags or wax paper (which is what I've typically encountered with any place that sells baked goods). However, pickup was quick, and I was given three big croissant-like pastries, all three of them had ample amount of almonds and possibly pistachios on them, and two of them had chocolate. I don't like croissants and similar flaky pastries normally, but these were so covered with other ingredients such as nuts that I really liked them since it made it more interesting flavor and texture wise. The chocolate was generous and tastes gooey if you warm up the pastry. I think one of them may have had Nutella/hazelnut in them. Delah Coffee is open late and has space to sit and work, and I hope to come back sometime to try more of the drinks.

Yelp
Was looking for a coffee shop to do some catching up. The decor is breathtaking. The menu for patries and drinks is pretty large. The music playing was great. It took a while to take our order but they were helpful. I had higher hopes for my drink. I ordered the rose delah latte and it was still warm like it wasnt shaken with the ice. I still feel like it's worth trying the other options.

Yelp
Yemeni latte and pistachio baklava were both delicious. Nice clean ambiance inside the cafe with lots of food options. Will be back to try more of their drinks and the turning delight!

Yelp
Yemen was the place where coffee was first cultivated for commercial sales, which eventually helped contribute to coffee being spread to the rest of the world. With that much history, the coffee at a Yemen cafe has to be good! ORDER: Yemini Latte ($7.02) - Delah's signature drink which has the flavors of cinnamon, cardamom, and honey. The drink is available hot or iced, but I got it iced. I really enjoyed the spices in the Yemeni Latte, but as a fair warning, the drink is on the sweeter side by default. No worries though because you can choose to adjust the sweetness of the drink. SUMMARY: Other than individual drinks, Delah also offers pots of coffee and tea drinks that come with a candle heater and mini cups that you can share with your friends at the cafe. Delah also has a bunch of pastries and cakes that look really good and I can't wait to go back and try. IG: Follow me at xstina.eats for more food recs!

Yelp
Delah coffee has recently become a favorite of ours. The adani chai comes as a fresh pot that can serve 3-5 people. It's absolutely delicious with just the right kick of herbal flavor. Another favorite for us is the pistachio cake that just melts in your mouth. A must recommend if you want a casual place to read a book over a cup of chai

Yelp
Honestly, beautiful decor and lovely ambiance. I tried the rose milk cake (Delicious!) and the Rose Delah latte.. pink is my favorite color after all!! Rating 3 stars because the young man at the counter was not inviting at all... in fact he seemed like he would rather not be there. Not one person greeted me or invited me into the cafe. I really wanted the whole experience of Arabic coffee. But oh well, nobody owes me their time!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the Yemeni latte (iced, light sweet) and bee bite. Both were so delicious. The worker was very kind and gave great recommendations. There is an overwhelming amount of yummy items to choose from for both drinks and pastries. I'll definitely be returning here to try everything. The interior is so beautifully decorated im in awe of how they showcase culture through art. A lovely space for working, casually hanging, or just stopping by. Probably now one of my favorite East bay cafes!

Yelp
10/10 ambiance 10/10 food 10/10 service Easy to read options, spacious for all parties, tasty pastries and coffee. Latte and chocolate croissant sandwich were impeccable.

Yelp
I've been to the location in SF many times and decided to check this one out while I was in the area. Very cool to see how much they've expanded in such a short amount of time! There is metered street parking nearby (free on Saturdays). As we walked in, we noticed the intricate decor and ambiance - it's absolutely gorgeous and you're instantly transported. We stood in line for a bit (there was one guy taking and making the orders - assuming due to the holidays). We ordered our standard rose latte and rose milk cake. The rose milk cake was DELICIOUS - loved the flavors and pop of milk in each bite. The rose latte was alright; we couldn't taste the usual rose flavors but lovely presentation. Looking forward to coming back here again!

Yelp
Delah Coffee - how did I not know about this place before?! We tried the pistachio, saffron milk, and kunafah cheese cake. Also ordered the cheese and spinach sabaya and everything was delicious! Our favorite was the saffron milk though; reminded me of a tres leches. I will be back to try their coffees; the only reason we didn't order was because it was 9pm haha.
google avatar

Humaira M.

Yelp
Beautiful layout of the place. You must try Adeni chai and milk cake! Outstanding friendly people with outstanding services.
google avatar

Yelp
Can we get one of these in SF? Baklava yes! Chai yeah! Thank you to the cashier who got my order wrong when I ordered the pistachio baklava and gave me both the pistachio one and the walnut one! Both were great! The chai was perfect, the decor was excellent. Really thought this place was awesome !
google avatar

Yelp
I stopped in for coffee and to kill some time before an appointment and saw this place was highly recommended. I ordered a piece of caramel milk cake and an iced caramel macchiato. The coffee was strong and tasted great and was served in an aesthetically-pleasing glass mug. The cake was *delicious,* not too sweet with lots of caramel flavor. Service was very efficient and friendly. It was fairly busy when I was there (around noon on a Sunday), but they have several smaller tables and a connected bench area in the back, which is where I was able to grab a seat. It was actually quite cozy and several people were relaxing and using the free wifi. I really enjoyed Delah Coffee and I can see why it's so highly rated.

Yelp
We came on Sunday to finally try out Delah cafe. I have been meaning to try this place for ages, but something always comes up. We got A Saani coffee, a gahwah, a saffron milk cake and the beehive. The coffee was delicious, the gahwah was like water with ginger and cardamom ( I think), the milk cake was very wet and the beehive was very unique. Overall, we really liked the experience. But I do wish more people worked here and that they could have better advised on what things were. We spent a lot of time waiting around and googling things in order to make a decision.

Mahiya E.

Yelp
Came in to try their pistachio latte and get some work done. The workers were absolutely amazing very patient and quick. The pistachio latte was delicious and creamy but very sweet. I also got the pistachio milk bread and my friend got the pistachio cheesecake. The milk bread was okay. The cheesecake had that fridge air taste like it had just been sitting in the fridge for too long. Wasn't a fan, but I'm sure the other flavors maybe would've tasted different. The reason for the three stars is that first and foremost the bathroom had no tissue or soap. And I had the absolute worst time connecting to the Wi-Fi and so did my friend. After multiple attempts of restarting my computer and forgetting the network I could not connect to the Wi-Fi with actual signal. I would connect, but there would be no Internet or there would be Internet, but it would be extremely slow to the point of taking five minutes to load my Gmail. I ended up just using my hotspot which was little inconvenient. All in all I would return for the drinks, but I wouldn't stay to get any work done.

Yelp
Delah Coffee opened where Starbucks was. Walls have been repurposed to show Yemeni landscapes, cultural buildings/artifacts, Yemen ambience. Counter is literally in front of front door. Order efficiently and courteously taken. ready jn minutes. Offerings: expressos, coffee, tea, pastries, refreshers, smoothies. Drink: Cortado (4.95) -passed on sweetener, still tasted a bit sweet. -bold covfefe taste tastable over warmed milk. Eats: pistachio roll (5.35) Turkish pastry -flakey layers of thin dough, sprinked with crushed pistachios, sweetened with honey, not sugar -tastes sumilar to baklava. Drips: -steady flow of patrons, no outside seating. -soft music in background. -street parking.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVED everything we ordered! The pineapple passionfruit drink was worth every penny and the muffin was soooo delicious. I am not sure what it's called but the vibes were so chill definitely check it out if you haven't already
google avatar

Sandip N.

Yelp
It was 6 pm on Saturday. There was no space for 3 to sit as all are occupied by people with laptops. Finally Got a sit on a couch , it was dirty . People are constantly moving by the coffee table, so need to be careful with the coffee. It will spill. The adeni chai was ok . Indian tea is more flavorful. Tea was already prepared before. Tea was served in a coffe cup, it's not appealing at all . Servers mentioned, serving in a tea pot costs 10$ more which is insane. I ordered a chicken wrap, servers warm it and placed on counter. So you will never when it's done.

Yelp
This place is divine!!!! I absolutely highly recommend. The drinks and pastries are so delicious, you will be going back for more. The service is quick and staff are super friendly. My friend and I ordered the caramel macchiato and matcha. As for the pastries we got baklava and the rose cake. This fulfilled our caffeine and sweet tooth need. I recommend all of it. If you don't know what to get, just ask the staff and they would be glad to help. The space is kinda tight but there is plenty of seating and people working and chatting with friends. It provides a welcoming and friendly environment. Come and try this place!

Yelp
We wanted to try a new coffee shop before heading back home so we quickly found Delah Coffee on our search. It's a nice location and the place was so packed on a Sunday afternoon, must be popular! When I looked at the menu I was a bit stumped what to order. I'm not a fan of cardamom spice and it was in every single specialty drink! I decided to get an iced Delachai since normally I do enjoy chai lattes despite the spices in it. This one was like a chai on steroids though - spices x100! It was super fragrant. I wish it was colder and had more ice, I feel like the room temp really elevated that spice. No matter the flavor though I would expect my iced drink to be cold. My husband's Yemeni Latte was very good, less strong spice flavor and more coffee. I'm not sure what they put in this Yemeni Latte compared to a regular latte since there was no description but it was tasty! Although it was not entirely my cup of tea (no pun intended) I would still give the whole shop a great rating on decor and quick efficient service. If you love flavors like ginger and cardamom this is totally the place for you, but I can't knock them down points just because it's not my preference.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
Popped in here after a doctor's appointment nearby. We had: - rose latte - this was beautiful! However it was too sweet for my taste. Also the dried rose petals are hard to spit out, but present a texture issue if you decide to eat them. Would not order again. - Turkish delight - a bit dry. I prefer ones from the Turkish bakery. None of the flavors are labeled though so we had to ask, but it was a bit hard to hear the cashier's voice over the music. - Adeni chai - this was really fantastic! Very strong yet balanced flavors. - savory beef pie - took a long time to get cooked (10+ minutes). Either that or they forgot about us. It was very good though and I'd order it again if I returned.

Yelp
My friend and I had planned on walking Lake Merritt but first, coffee. I usually order a hot beverage but walking will build up heat so I knew I should order something cold. I opted for the iced Latte with regular milk, 50% sweet. After the first sip, I knew I made the right choice. This was the perfect amount of sweetness and oh so good. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Vida M.

Yelp
Yemeni latte is my favorite very nice ambiance, seating can be tricky, but it's likely just because it's so popular!
google avatar

Rosie W.

Yelp
I think their drinks require an acquired taste. I got the rose Yemeni coffee and it wasn't fully a coffee nor did it taste fully rose. Their desserts were overpriced. Also it was super stuffy inside. Anything can be transmitted through the hot tight air.
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Love their hot adeni chai! Full of spice and flavor. Their desserts are good too and perfect to share with someone. Love to come back if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Razaa A.

Yelp
Heard a lot about this spot and finally came to check it out. Yemeni owned and they have a Yemeni touch on all their items. They have quite a few bakery items they sell. Their biscoff cheesecake was pretty decent. I opted for the Yemeni latte. I would highly recommend getting it hot rather than iced. It's similar to a chai style and so having those types of drinks that may have cardamom etc in it is ideal for warm drinks. The vibe inside was awesome. Plenty of tables and folks enjoying their items and also having conversations. Several folks also working from there. I went on a Friday at 4pm and was able to get a street meter spot directly outside. Service was attentive and fast. Would recommend you check them out!

Yelp
Came here with a friend and finally got to try this place out! I ordered the Yemeni latte and the bee bite pastry, and then couldn't help myself and ordered the iced rose latte. I had read the reviews and it sounded like the Yemeni latte was very sweet, so when asked, I told the barista that I wanted it unsweetened. Unsure how I felt about the latte, as it definitely had some distinct flavors but could have used a little sweetness. The bees knees was covered with honey, so the first bite was a little too sweet, so ask for light honey. Otherwise it was pretty good. The rose latte was a weird experience. The first sip was pretty tasty, but then it almost turned oddly chalky. My friend got the rose pastry, which was really good and a very nice mild (but delicious flavor). I would definitely come back to try some of the pastries and try some of the other coffee drinks. The only thing I didn't love was how loud the music would get off and on while we were there. There's a nice cute area to the left of the coffee pick up area with cute seating that's somewhat cozy.

Yelp
Delah Coffee is a beautiful coffee shop offering an amazing cultural experience. The coffee and baklava were not only tasty but also a delightful combination. The friendly staff assisted us in narrowing down our order choices. I'm definitely planning to come back and explore more of their lattes - an all-around enjoyable experience!
google avatar

Tejal D.

Yelp
Such a beautiful spot for coffee. Delicious drinks and treats, and warm staff. I love coming to meet friends here. There are few coffee places where I can just sit with a friend or a book for hours, and this is one of them.
google avatar

Satabdi B.

Yelp
I'd give Delah 10 stars if possible for its ambience, tasteful decor, and cozy vibes. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place was almost full; we snagged the only open table. The beverages we ordered were excellent though I found the food to be just okay. I highly recommended the Adeni chai, it hit all the right notes. The Daleh special Mofawar coffee was pretty good too. The chicken and beef pies were okay but a little overpriced at $7 a piece, even by Bay area standards. Plus, they initially mixed up our food order but promptly fixed it after we let them know. The Rose milkcake definitely looks better thsn it tasted. Nevertheless, I'd come back to this place in a heartbeat just because of the unbeatable ambience.

Ilona M.

Yelp
Delah has been at the top of my list of places to try for a while now, and it definitely didn't disappoint! My friend and I went in yesterday and got to try everything we really wanted! Some things were out-of-this-world-incredible (the rose & pistachio milk cakes were to die for) while others were just pretty good (the red velvet and the biscoff were soaking wet and difficult to eat - but still delicious). The lattes were the star of the experience, truly amazing! 10/10 all around. I'm giving it 4 stars for two reasons: 1) what they call "Turkish coffee" is actually Armenian coffee, and 2) the space is SO small and gets very crowded. There should be some kind of policy in place here, because multiple of the 4 person tables were occupied by single individuals working on laptops, while larger parties were sitting in the little coffee corner all smushed together without any real tables. Even talking to each other was difficult because we'd be talking over the party that was sitting right next to us. Again, I wouldn't mind this if the space was just crowded, but there were so many tables going to waste so I definitely feel like the space could benefit from a policy that would maybe split up a section of the cafe to where people are just working, and a section where people want to sit down at a table and eat/drink/hang out with friends.

Yelp
I love to try new things and this Yemeni latte at this Yemeni coffee house was new to me! I was expecting this bright cafe filled with light, mostly seen from the Yelp pics however, it was a bit dark. I do want to highlight the scaffolding covering the front facade of the building, so that could be it. They have a full array of milk cakes, cheese cakes, Turkish delight and pastries. They did have borek which is this sheep's milk type savory pie (at least the Turkish variety is usually sheep's milk). I passed this time, but they looked legit. They have a full array of coffees. Your typical ones, but then so many with fun flavors from lavender to cardamom and more. I went with the Yemeni iced latte after the woman at the counter let me know it was full of spices like cardamom and cinnamon. She asked if I wanted it sweetened in which I said no, however, this was a real sweet drink. While not quite what I wanted, it was delicious. But asking for it unsweetened, it was filled with honey and potential added sugar. It was so flavorful and an absolute treat. This place is unique and serving up some delicious and not your average style coffee drinks. Not a super large space, but about 10 tables or so. On a Monday, mid-day, there were plenty of people working, enjoying and connecting. A solid little coffee shop.

Yelp
Delah is a reliable spot to get some work done, with unique food/drinks as well! I got a Yemeni Latte, and it looked like it would be very sweet but was actually reasonable. The place was packed full on a Saturday afternoon, so come early if you want to snag a spot. The only downside was that the wifi was a bit spotty, and it can get loud if you're trying to focus/work.

Yelp
Replacing a former popular coffee chain, I was very thrilled when Delah opened in downtown Oakland replacing them. Located on grand ave it is on your way or or from the bay bridge, so no matter the direction you go, you will have Delah on your way to your destination. I have only had tea and food there, but whoever I go with always likes their iced coffee. They offer milk alternatives and non coffee drinks as well for my caffeine free folks. My favorite is the food! I love the zaatar flat bread and the milk cakes the most. The bee bread is delicious but I am not that big of a sesame fan on my sweets, plus my grandma made the same thing growing up minus the sesame, so im pretty bias. All of the milk cakes are delicious so no matter what you pic, its fantastic. What's a milk cake? I like to think of it as tres leches cousin.

Yelp
Came here twice on 2 different occasions. This review is for both visits consolidated into 1 review. The interior of this coffee shop is so unique, filled with middle eastern decor. I loved the wide array of colorful Turkey pastries, and although I didn't get to try any, I admired looking at them during both visits! Rose latte 5/5: One of the best rose lattes I've tried! If you don't like floral, this drink is not for you. I LOVE floral drinks like lavender and rose so this was amazing to my taste buds. I appreciated how apparent the rose flavor was without being too overpowering and they add real rose buds to the drink. The drink was overall very well-balanced with floral and coffee notes. Adeni Chai 4/5 (not pictured): I got a medium (the menu says small but the workers called it medium) to share with a friend. This pot is plenty enough for 3 people. By the end of it, both me and my friend were pretty wired off of the caffeinefrom this tea so if you're sensitive to caffeine, I'd suggest you be careful with the amount you drink. I'll start by saying that i LOVE chai drinks as well. The notes of the chai was subtle but enjoyable. They also include a side of sugar for you to add to sweeten your drink if you want it sweeter. Loved that you could customize the drink to your liking. Overall, I enjoyed it but I think my preference for Chai is with milk as a latte and they don't have that on the menu. This is a good coffee place to catch up and just enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. I'm not sure if this is a good place to study as it could get loud. I also thought the drinks were quite pricey as well. I wouldn't mind going once in awhile but I wouldn't say this is an everyday go-to.
