"Taking over a former Starbucks at 420 West Grand Avenue in Oakland, right off Broadway, the new Delah Coffee House location is set to open in mid-December or by the end of the year; owner Omar Jahamee says expanding to the East Bay made sense because many of the shop's fans live in Richmond and Berkeley and calls the site "the perfect spot for us." The menu will include crowd-pleasers like the Yemeni Latte and Bee Bites as well as signature items such as the Dubai Refresher — a lighter drink with lemon, lime, mint, and sparkling water — and a saffron latte for which they've refined a preferred spice-to-coffee ratio. Seating will aim to be more family-friendly with traditional Yemeni sofas and slightly upgraded decor, and Jahamee stresses that "quality-wise, we will stay the same" as he hopes more locations will sprout up throughout the Bay Area and the state." - Paolo Bicchieri
