The Best Restaurants in Palm Springs

"Everything is relaxed at Delicias. Start with a margarita or mezcal flight before diving into huevos rancheros or divorciados for breakfast. The colorful plates show off mole enchiladas or a heaping molcajete filled with grilled chicken, carne asada, chorizo, green onions, nopales, and queso fresco. It comes with guacamole, pico de gallo, rice, beans, and heated tortillas." - Mona Holmes, Eater Staff

Whenever we're in the area we make sure to stop by! The food is great! The menu has a lot of traditional dishes from Mexico City with a twist but it still tastes very authentic. The drinks are unique and tasty. The servers are attentive and nice. Met the owner the first time we visited back in April. He was awesome too. Always a great experience whenever we visit. Thank you! **Parking** There's plenty of parking.

We were greeted before we even tried to open the door by a very friendly and personable man (perhaps the owner?). We chose our table and were provided water and chips and salsa, which were very tasty. We ordered drinks and after receiving them, we placed our orders. My wife ordered a “taco plate”. I ordered the mole. We were both very pleased with the food and the service. I highly recommend this place.

Google
First time eating , the ambience 10 , clean 10, my food 8 but my finance’s food was bomb 10. Reason I gave it an 8 is because they have to upgrade how they make the pozole. I got one and I saw just meat and caldo very minimum hominy (maíz molido). Please add more hominy on the pozole and you’ll get a 10 .

This is our second time dining at Delicias Mexican Cuisine in Desert Hot Springs, California. Our first experience was wonderful, and this visit was also great. The service both times were great. The servers were friendly, outgoing, and informative. They answered all our questions and gave suggestions. The suggestions they gave us were delicious. The food was wonderful and flavorful. The plating was beautiful, but the flavors to the dishes were great. This visit we ordered the Delicias Guacamole, which had mangos, feta cheese, pepitas, and cilantro. This guacamole was a great starter. It was different but very flavorful. I ordered the Enchiladas El Padrino (three enchiladas with your choice of cheese, chicken, beef, or shrimp Served with mole, rice, black beans, queso fresco, and sour cream and micro cilantro.) with the green sauce. This was delicious, and the beef was tender and seasoned nicely. Chuck ordered the Pozole, which is only made on the weekends. The posole was a rather large portion, but Chuck said it was delicious. I had a little bite of the pork, which was tender. The restaurant is a nice size with a bar area on one side and the mural is beautiful. The atmosphere was quite lively. Overall, from our previous experience and our most recent visit, the restaurant is fantastic. Awesome service and great food. The last few photos are from our previous visit.

Google
First time experience! Excellent birria tacos! So delicious and the staff was very helpful. Bottomless horchata topped with cinnamon was a hit at our table. The restaurant was clean and spacious. Many tables so there was no wait around lunch time. Will return for dinner sometime and update my review.

Google
I lived in Mexico 10 years ago. Since then I lived in Germany, where I haven't had mexican food. This is the first time since 10 years, that I'm that close to Mexico and this food just brought me back to Mexico. It was so good and authentic and tasty and I can recommend it to everybody. It's really fantastic. And I want to thank the chef for the throwback!

Yelp
Delicias Mexican Cuisine in Desert Hot Springs delivers some of the best Huevos Rancheros I've had in this area. The presentation is stunning, and the flavors are just as impressive. I added steak to my dish (for a small extra charge), and it was excellent--tender, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. This is high-quality meat, not the kind you'd expect from a taco truck. You can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation. The restaurant has a unique vibe that's hard to ignore. The graffiti art on the exterior gives it a cool, modern edge, and the interior feels just as thoughtful and welcoming. It's clear that a lot of effort has been put into making this a place that stands out in both food and atmosphere. There's only one other Mexican restaurant in the area--in Palm Desert--that gets this kind of attention from me, and that says a lot. Delicias has truly earned a spot at the top of my list, and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is legit! It is clearly a labor of love for the owner. He is from Mexico City and said all the spices are imported from there. The margarita flight was yummy. Everything we ordered was great. My fave was the queso fundido. The only sour note was that our waiter forgot about us towards the end and we had to flag down other folks to get water, order our dessert and get our check.

Yelp
Desert Hot Springs isn't known as a culinary destination. It's known for a couple other things but I won't get into that lol. I was in town for a meeting and when we broke for lunch there was only one place I wanted to go. Located along the main drag on Pierson, Delicias doesn't really stick out until you get a bit closer. For one it's pink and two there's old school rock siding. Once inside it's a nice open space with a small bar and more of that amazing rock siding. We got menus, waters, chips and salsa quickly after being seated. I didn't need the menu as I knew what I wanted. The chicken mole enchiladas. This has to be one of the prettiest presentations in the history of food. It's art. The enchiladas were stuffed with tender chicken and mole itself is a bit sweeter than I'm used to but still delicious. The beans and rice here were also super tasty. Service was friendly and my water was rarely empty. Unless you want fast food, I don't think you'd want to go anywhere else for a meal if you're in DHS. This place really is a gem. High marks for food and service. If I lived closer I'd definitely return. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Mixed First Impressions, But Promising Potential My first visit to Delicias Mexican Cuisine was a bit of a mixed bag. While the drinks were undeniably strong and flavorful, the service was a bit lacking. I ordered a beer and a consume but never received the consume. However, my second visit was a much more positive experience. The quesadilla, though unconventional, was a delightful surprise. It had a unique pizza-like quality, but with a vibrant and creative flavor profile. The energetic atmosphere and friendly service from the owner, who crafted a killer mezcal margarita, added to the overall experience. While there's room for improvement in terms of service consistency, Delicias Mexican Cuisine is definitely a place worth exploring for its bold flavors and lively ambiance.

Yelp
The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was chill and cute. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and checked on often. The food was delicious and came out quickly. I'll definitely return next time I'm in town!

Yelp
My author friend was doing a reading of her newest book, in Joshua Tree. She asked me to meet her at Delicias, before she drove back to LA. I don't often drive out to DHS, at night, but I love her, so I made the trip. Glad I did! The place is lit up brightly, so it was easy to see, in the darkness. Plenty of parking. Inside is an eclectic mix of art styles. The booth wasn't big enough for me, so we moved to a table. (I didn't care for the chairs. They were super hard!) Good choices on the menu. We started with some chiles güeritos. They were excellent. She ordered a pambazo with chorizo and papa. I got a huarache with chorizo. The chorizo had great flavor, not greasy at all. The green salsa they covered the huarache was so flavorful. The only thing that I wish it had was pinto beans instead of black beans, but that is a personal preference; not traditional. My friend ordered a tamarindo drink. It was super light colored. She said it tasted funny, so she asked just for water. They didn't charge us and they did offer to remake it. I got a Diet Coke. It was a little flat. She didn't offer me a refill on it or my water. The barman was making a ton of drinks. I didn't see that many people in there, so the group in the front must have been ordering drinks left and right. If I'm in the area, I'd happily go back for the food.

Yelp
The food was amazing and beautifully presented. The chips were light and crunchy and the salsa was hot and very flavorful. The Bloody Marys were not heavy at all and delicious and the olives and bacon were very tasty. Our server was perfect - attentive, friendly and patient. I really love the interior design - lots of pink! I will be checking this place out again and suggest others try it too.

Yelp
I came in for breakfast it was empty so that was nice but it wasn't what I expected. I pay most attention to service than food anywhere I go and theirs was a 2 out of 5. I didn't mind that they had very little options for breakfast I was able to ask for something simple instead. It was the way the server acted while ordering, she seemed bothered and gave the impression she thought I was dumb or maybe being extra? Not sure, but I have worked in food service and I know how important it is to do what you can to make a customer happy without being seemingly annoyed or rude. Second time I have come I think the reviews a little misleading, maybe they just treat everyone differently. First time around was better than the second. Still tried to make the best of it and just stay quiet oh well.

Yelp
This is a must if you are out in the desert!! Fabulous Mexican restaurant!! Great vibe great attentive service. Started our meal with the queso with chorizo.. so satisfying!! Yelp
This afternoon we dined at Delicias. I asked the waitress which Enchiladas she liked and she recommended the Enchiladas Suizas so I ordered them with chicken. WOW!! They were DIVINE!! My new favorite at Delicias. The service was fast, attentive, and friendly. I notice they added draped fabric baffles in the front dining room. This appears to have improved the acoustics significantly . Really enjoyed dining there today.

Yelp
A place I always go to eat when I head into desert springs, the food is so good and being dog friendly it a huge perk for us. Their gorditas is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicharron is flavorful and plentiful. So good. Mole enchiladas is a must when we come, its a must. The food is great and the service is wonderful!

Yelp
This place is great. Everything I've had has been delicious as the name says. Super tasty plates and even better cocktails . Desert hot springs has been needing a place like this.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner recently while in town, I was greeted walking in the door and seated within the same minute. This is a large restaurant with several seating areas in and outside. A bright vibrant interior. It took a minute to get a menu and my server was not that prompt or timely? Actually had to go ask for a drink with the bartender because of my servers non attention to my booth and she was not that busy. My food was served by expeditors both courses. The menu is extensive and after given it a good look over I wanted spicy and seafood, and started with the Aquachile Negro and it was a serious bowl of fat shrimps in a very spicy chili broth covered with red onions and some avocado, and some cool cucumber slices with a side of crisp tortillas. Rich, spicy, tangy, hot, crunchy, cool it hit a lot of marks. Not for the faint of heart. Then an Octopus taco to finish, this was a large taco with grilled octopus and a nice mix of shredded slaw with a spice aioli. Taco de Pulpo was a good choice as well, spicy octopus with a nice combination of textures and flavors through each bite. 3.5 Stars - unique mexican but rounded down for the slow lacking service 00964

Yelp
A Must-Visit! This restaurant is a true gem! The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, and the food is absolutely delicious, especially the Green Chilaquiles. The staff is friendly. Also, I ordered a Cafe de la Olla, which was my dream meal. Thank you, Delicias Mexican cuisine, you make me feel like my mom's home in Mexico. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
We were staying in Desert Hot Springs and wanted to make it easy by finding a local restaurant. Luckily, we found Delicias Mexican Cuisine. The ambiance is very friendly and modern. The service very efficient and professional. Our server was really helpful and polite. The food was fantastic. We had camarones zarandeado, basically large prawns. Was first rate. Came sizzling in a hot plate. Super generous portion, too. We also had mole enchiladas. Again, excellent. The cocktails we had were perfect. Lastly, ended with a flan. Wow. Great place. Each dish was fantastic. Highly recommend!!

Kevin K.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! The food is not only visually beautiful, but so delicious. Live music on Friday. Breakfast is astonishing! So worth the trip to come visit this family run restaurant!

Yelp
I love this place. Presentation of food is at times spectacular, and the flavors are definitely en pointe. I've had several meals there and am always impressed with both. Service the first time was a bit slow, but since then it's always prompt, thoughtful and friendly. Sometimes portion sizes are a bit stingy, such as the molcajete for about $35. That should be enough for two people, but there's little meat and a LOT of peppers. For that price, there should be more meat. I also had the thoroughly delicious Cochinita Pibil, with an exceptional presentation.....but the actual amount of pork was minimal for the price. I'd still order it again, though, as the whole meal was very satisfying. It's all so good I'll give 5 stars even with the "deductions" above. The drinks have always been great. The large Cadillac Margarita is an experience. The place is down-home and festive at the same time. A few booths, but lots of tables (nice if you are a bit more ample in size). This is one of my two go-to Mexican restaurants in DHS. And this is the one I'll take people to impress them.

Ann B.

Yelp
The food and service were excellent! The mole enchiladas which are a family recipe were great as were the cochinita pibil some of the best we had. The best of all was the houseware churro for dessert. 10/10 would return again and again!
google avatar

Yelp
SO DELICIOUS! We got the cheese enchiladas and it was amazing with the green sauce especially when you put rice and beans atop. Very rich and flavorful. The chips and salsa are my favorite chips and salsa I've ever gotten at a Mexican restaurant. Truly tasted like it was made with fresh ingredients and had a delightful heat. We had a little birthday celebration dinner and they came out with this sweet and light flan. The staff were nice and they gave us free refills on our Jamaica. Ambiance felt like a retro 80s feel which made the place even more fun!

Yelp
We were staying in the area and were excited to try this restaurant due to its great reviews. The restaurant was spacious and ideal for large groups. Our waitress was friendly but not well-trained. She forgot to refill our water and was spacing out when taking our orders and giving recommendations. As for the quality of food, we had tacos, margaritas, and tres leches earlier for lunch at Tac/Quila, which was much better than our experience at Delicias. The flight of Margarita tasting we got was "cute," but the drinks all tasted the same, just with different juices added. For the price, you are better off getting a glass of margarita since the flight barely contained any alcohol. The tacos were not bad, but the real disappointment was the dessert. How can a Mexican restaurant mess up on tres leches?

Vee R.

Yelp
Great place to have a nice dinner and a great drink in DHS. I will always recommend this place to people visiting. Service was great and we get our food at adequate amount of time. I recommend the prickly pear margarita!

Yelp
Went here a few weeks ago for my birthday. The food was great, drinks were good. The waiter was nice and the complimentary birthday dessert was delicious. We went early evening during the week and there weren't many people. 10/10

Yelp
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent visit to Delicias Mexican Cuisine on 09/04/2024. As a frequent patron of your establishment, I was very disappointed with the service we received on this occasion. Our experience began with us ordering food for the kids first, followed by drinks for the adults. Despite it being around 6:30 PM and knowing that your restaurant does not close until 9 PM, we were asked by our server if we were ready to order the adults' food. We informed the server that the adults would be ordering later. However, we felt pressured to place the adult food order prematurely. As the evening progressed, the server seemed increasingly disinterested, especially when more guests arrived. To our dismay, she started turning off the lights while the adults were still waiting to order their meals. The early shutdown of the lights prevented the adults from placing their meal orders and created an uncomfortable atmosphere. Additionally, some of the drinks we ordered were served hot, and the automatic tip inclusion felt inappropriate given the poor service we experienced. I have visited your restaurant many times before and have never encountered such a disappointing level of service. I hope this feedback will help improve the experience for future guests. I look forward to hearing from you about how this situation will be addressed. Food is good tho can't knock them on that. Thank you for your attention to this matter

Yelp
Was looking for a good authentic Mexican restaurant in the area and was hopping for more from this place. Don't get me wrong the food was good with a new age era taste and look.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
Food here was GREAT!!! We Ordered the Chicken Flauntas and Street Tacos. There Mole enchiladas looked sooo good but I was saving room for dinner since we came in for lunch. Margarita was nothing special honestly- I didn't even snap a pic of it. BUT: Service was subpar- I asked for water after finishing my margarita before my meal was served and she never came back after that. Eating lunch with no drink. When we finished eating- we then flagged someone down for the check- which they also forgot since about 10 mins later we then received the check to close out. The restaurant was starting to get busy as we finished our meal- which could be why we never got the water and check. But we were in the middle booth that's right in front of the bar and host stand.

Yelp
What a wonderful find high up in Desert Hot Springs! We had a day planned there and I recently read about this place in Palm Springs Life Magazine. The food was amazing, presentation excellent and the service friendly and super quick! I absolutely loved how festive and cheerful the decor is.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday with three of my girlfriends. We came out to Palm Springs for the weekend and we're about to head back home after checking out over Airbnb. This place was only about six minutes from the house and there was no wait when I called in. That's exactly what we're looking for because everywhere in downtown had a long way and we were just trying to eat and leave. This is a super cute spot, and they have a flower wall for an awesome photo op right before you walk in. Very smart. They have a beautiful Muro when you walk in alongside the wall, and the colors are definitely bright pink, which I loved He seems to be short staff, because the wait was long to get our order. We had to ask them to bring the stuff and ask them if we could order. Their food was very good. Before we ordered any food, we got the two different margarita and mules lights. All of them are very good. He even did a little show where he lit the sage and it was cute. I ordered a king burrito that had Carna Sada rice and beans inside of it. It also comes with waka moly and pico de gallo, but I didn't want the onions in it. I ordered it wet and they're green sauce is very very good. It had a little bit of a kick to it, so be forewarned, but the flavor it was amazing. You get a basket of chips and salsa, and there's also a must be homemade or some thing but that was actually really good as well. We asked for another basket of chips was also because we loved it so much. This place is super cute, has great photo ops, and it was clean everywhere, as well as in the restroom. Once again, my only great was that they were short staffed, and it took a minute for us to order and get our food but it was well worth the wait Come check it out if you want some amazing food and don't wanna go go into downtown for that long wait that you can't avoid.

Yelp
Cute little spot in desert palms, stopped by while in town, ordered enchiladas verdes and enchiladas mole. Nice service, outdoor seating. Mole was delicious!

Yelp
AMAZING!!!! Favorite Mexican restaurant in the desert hands down. The cocktails are amazing and unique. The food is delicious! And the playing is gorgeous, highly highly recommend. I send all my friends and family here when they visit. DOES NOT DISAPPOINT !!
google avatar

Adam A.

Yelp
We had dinner there for the first time and it was not a good experience. The lack of customer service and friendliness was hardly there at all. The drinks are overpriced and were tasteless. The food we ordered was partially cold. We like supporting local businesses but we won't be coming back.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
We've eaten here twice and both times were merry and memorable! Ceasar is an excellent host and bartender but all staff members seem polished . The cocktails are fancy fusion stuff ! Mixology at its best , this is not the place to settle for a beer ! So many of the dishes are quite choice , including a marlin ceviche tostada & the most "delicias" mole . The mocajete is what brought us back for a second visit though! What a beautiful presentation and the bowl of savory "everything " was too wonderful to describe? Just come to this lovely secret hideaway and savor for yourself

Andrea N.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! We loved the food and service. The mole was to die for. Sweet ambience and staff.

Irene S.

Yelp
Went in a couple days ago. Asked for my chilaquiles to have 2 sauces. Waitress said, "no. It only comes with one". No options, no ability to compromise. Never asked for them for free, I was willing to pay for the customization. Or the option to have a 2nd sauce on the side. Never came back to check on us or refill coffee which we had to request the coffee from another waitress WILL NEVER GO BACK

Yelp
Much better than 4 stars! Best asada I've had in a very long time. FRESHEST ingredients in the tacos, nice tortillas, and outstanding service !!! We sat on patio and enjoyed the excellent playlist. I will be back !!! Gracias for the deliciousness!!!!
google avatar

Laura J.

Yelp
This place is good!!! The presentation of the food is phenomenal. There are so many colors and everything just looks amazing. Good portions too!! The only complaints that I have is that the patio is not the cleanest and also one of my tacos I couldn't eat because it was 90% fat. The other one was great tho!!! But I'm not a fan of fatty meat so it wasn't great. I tried other plates too and everything was super yummy! I would come back and try it again for sure! A good spot in desert hot springs.
google avatar

Miles K.

Yelp
Excellent food. I loved everything about my carnitas, and the mole enchiladas tasted as amazing as they looked. We tried the margaritas and mojitos flights, and some were pretty good, others were mediocre. Only reason for 4 stars was that price felt high for seating myself in a booth, a kinda dull restaurant vibe, and typical diner service. I wanted to get some more tortillas but our waitress was having a conversation with the bartender for a while so couldn't get her attention. I'd definitely go back for the food though.

Yelp
Second time here and even better. Our server Sal was awesome!!!! He made us the most delicious margarita flight. It included: passion fruit, mixed berry, pineapple and rosemary. So yummy!!! I finished off the Rosemary and sipped a little of the others because I was buzzing like a bee:) The carne asada and grilled chicken taco plate came with black beans and rice. The food here is authentic and very fresh. Everything tasted delicious!!!! *private parking lot *outdoor patio *moderately priced *great service Highly recommend the margarita flight over ordering a single margarita. You get more bang for your buck!
google avatar

Marisa T.

Yelp
First time here tonight. Service was friendly & efficient. Super cute restaurant & variety of options to choose from. Our server recommended the mole which my parents both got. Neither of them liked it very much because it was much sweeter than they're used to. I don't like mole, never have, even when my grandma made it. I liked my flautas. They were tasty. My husband liked his birria tacos. The drinks were pretty good. Not sure if I'd order the flight again though. They have so many different drink options, I'd probably try something else next time. We'll be back when in the area.
google avatar

Susan D.

Yelp
I had such a great time here! The food was delicious, fresh, and flavorful, especially the Carnitas Plate. I ordered a Michelada because I had never tried it before, and it was a great surprise. The service was fantastic. I'll return with all my family. Delicias is colorful and pretty.
google avatar

Monyca W.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast. Our server was so friendly, the hot coffee was flowing, and the tres leches french toast was perfection. I loved the vibes in here, with the bright colors and even some great selfie backdrops. I'd love to come back here!
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
Good experience overall. You can tell that this is one of the happening spots in the area. We came on a Friday night and it was buzzing with people. Fun place, cute atmosphere, and good music. The Michelada was good. The guacamole was just alright. The guarache is a definite repeat and the mole enchiladas are legit. Good solid mole with the right balance of sweet and spicy. Service was fast and attentive despite how busy they were. Stop in if you're in the area and want a good bite, a solid drink and some good tunes.
