Delicious at The Dunbar

I can finally check this place off my to try list, but will definitely be back. The big windows and spacious seating gives it a relaxing feeling as you enjoy your food. We tried the Jambalaya & Oxtail that comes with rice & gravy, sides of mac & cheese & greens were all tasty. The oxtails were a bit smaller than I thought, but enough pieces. I do like that unlike other places, they offered the oxtails daily. My next order will have to be the Gumbo & smothered chops for sure. I didn't get to tour the location, but they do have a restroom. Also, a 12 space parking area out back.

Delicious at The Dunbar, lived up to its name. A low key gem, clean & comfortable ambiance, with excellent food, great mimosas and attentive all around service. My only suggestion is the restaurant should invest an expresso machine ... a friendly selection of coffee / lattes in this city is a must for brunch.

Never again. I really wanted to like this place. I have been a few times. Chicken is not well seasoned and is extremely greasy. Last time I went, my cornbread was hard in the middle as if it had been reheated too long in the microwave and my canied yams was soup. 🤢My stomach disagreed.

OMG!!! My go to spot as of October 2024!!! I've been living in the area for about 5 years now, and I always wanted to try Delicious at The Dunbar! Honey when I tell you the food is Delicious!!!! My friend and I meet up once a week to enjoy a good breakfast cooked with lots of love! Veggie Omelet Breakfast.....Fried Fish Breakfast.....Chicken sausage Breakfast! Have not tried Dinner just yet, but I trust it's good! Very relaxing environment!

I went for lunch with a friend during the week. It was near the holidays, so pretty empty. There was one guy working the tables and the service was fine (he was friendly but took his time to come over). They definitely give you large portions, which I was happy about. I had the jambalaya and my friend ordered the salmon croquettes. Both were seasoned well and the accompanying corn bread was delicious. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because the chicken in my jambalaya had a slightly rubbery, processed taste/texture. Maybe I had a bad batch but to have such an important ingredient not work left me slightly disappointed. But I still enjoyed myself enough that I would go back again. I'd just have a different dish.

This historical building and the food was awesome for me. If these walls could talk I would be sure to listen. The food had great flavor and the plate was full of food. I had the jambalaya that was cooked perfect for me. Angie is a great mixologist. The chicken was fresh and cooked to perfection. Great taste. They do have live jazz nights. The restaurant is bright and inviting is the decor. This would be a great date spot. Or a great place to meet up with family and friends. The cuisine is Soul food, Mexican, Creole and Cajun. Breakfast is served until 2pm. This restaurant is in a residential area so parking is difficult.

First of all, a huge shout out and thank you to Christian. He really saved the day at the Dunbar! He is one of the most respectful, attentive, polite, and hardest working young men I have seen in a long while ... and with a smile. My last experience left a poor review about 6 months ago. I returned for a second chance. The atmosphere is lovely with a nice layout of both high and low tables for comfort dining. This time, I was seated immediately after Christian answered a few questions. When he saw the other server had not taken my order, he jumped in and took care of it. He paid attention to all details, even letting me know my order was ready, but missing one piece of breast and asked if he could bring it out hot so I could get started. He went above and beyond. My entire meal was on point! There is plenty of food, great price point, and enough for a second meat in my to go box. I was so full I took Banana pudding home. After I walked around the neighborhood a bit, I returned for a few minutes for the Sunday live Jazz music. What a bonus! I highly recommend Sunday after 12:30 to catch some amazing musicians.

The food was delicious. The server was attentive and ensured we were taken care of.

I went to this restaurant with a Large Group and to get the food out was challenging it is a medium size place not small but with that being said the service wasn't the best because they weren't prepared for a Big Group but she did her best The food was good my pork chop was cooked crispy but tasty The restaurant it self was Beautiful I was skeptical about where it is but GREAT REMODEL The next time I go it won't be with a large group of people I believe it will be a great experience

We drove quite a ways to enjoy a breakfast at this spot. Parked,walked in to be told " cash only". What a disappointment. How can a restaurant in this day and age,with everything pretty much CASHLESS function? Most ppl nowadays pay w/ cards. I wasn't even trying to leave and locate a ATM. They have a ATM yet we are charged to withdrawal money only to give back to restaurant. Were taxed to use ATM, taxed again on our meal only to be taxed again ,only to leave a gratuity . It's too much! Maybe today was a one off? Yet first impressions are lasting... Delicious ! you need to do better! Get it together. We want to patronize our black restaurants yet here we go.... Couldn't even sit down so we promptly left.... what a shame. For that- one star...

amazing food. wonderful service. above and beyond. grown folk sophistication, jazzy, and classy vibe. well designed upscale interior. depending on what time and day of the week you dine, it could be a private delightful avenue to treat yourself whilst thoroughly satiated. breakfast, lunch, dinner. pescatarian, vegetarian, omnivore. variety salad options of sizeable portion. indulgent desserts, not cloyingly sweet. you're welcome.

The food is okay. Make sure to order what you want. The service was good. A great place to visit for historical reasons. Street parking only.

It was nice to visit what used to be a really historic area of downtown Los Angeles . The Delicious at the Dunbar Restaurant it is an old hotel with the restaurant at the bottom and some living area. I believe it's been redone when you walk into the restaurant, it is spacious decorated with beautiful orange colors you hear jazz music playing so that is very welcoming, there's no one standing there to welcome you, but we were approached very quickly and asked where we would like to sit. The Dunbar had a good vibe our waitress ANGELA she was super nice. We had delicious drinks. ONE called the Blue Hawaiian another called a Sidecar. The drinks were delicious!! average price for restaurants which I think they're all very expensive but I can deal with alcoholic Drink prices as long as it's not watered down at Delicious at the Dunbar the liquor is in the drinks and I can appreciate that it should be. We ordered, the food came out actually much quicker than we thought but the temperature was right and everything was super super delicious. The cornbread was to die for I had short ribs rice And mac & cheese MY HUSBAND had greens and oxtails They kept the area clean. It was just a nice vibe. Can't wait to go back and take friends. We went on a Sunday afternoon not busy at that time but I think we missed the after church crowd there's a little bit of parking in the back, but just a little . There's Street parking. This is a place I recommend they had a big beautiful picture on the wall of iconic singer Lena Horne. The music it was a live musician. The restaurant was not crowded, but he played and talked for the few people that were there as it was crowded I appreciated that. It was, very professional. I can tell he like what he does go to Delicious at the Dunbar you will be full. They packed those little side dishes.

Omg .. a diamond in the rough. I got the fish plate . Bass. So flaky and crispy. Perfect flavor... short wait , smiling service. Oh the food is excellent. Service was impressive. Didn't even wait long. Beautiful set up on the floor. Christian my server was great. I will be back . A few times

How did I not know about this spot? Southern and Mexican fusion and I couldn't help but try this place with family in town, and we were not disappointed. In fact, we were more than satisfied with our experience and I couldn't wait to rave about the place! Service was wonderful, all the food was fresh and delicious, breakfast and lunch/dinner options, great prices and bottomless mimosa $25 for 1.5 hours. Can't wait to go back and recommend to everyone I know! Only tip, parking is street parking.

I was looking for a solid soul food spot for a Sunday afternoon date and I ended up at Delicious at the Dunbar. First off, this is a beautiful restaurant located on the edge of south LA, right outside of downtown. I'm not 100% sure what the parking situation is because I was able to immediately find street parking in front of the restaurant. Now I'm to the food. We started out with an appetizer, the loaded nachos with brisket. Let me tell you, these nachos could feed a family of four because the portion size was massive. All the toppings were fresh and the brisket was flavorful and tender. They were an easy 4.5/5 for me. For our entrees we ordered the oxtails, smothered pork chop, mac and cheese, mashed potato's, red beans with rice, and okra, corn and tomatoes. While the oxtails were very tender and had great flavor, I was highly disappointed in the portion size. For $28 I expect more than what I got. I'd give the oxtail a 3.5/5. The smothered pork chop was on point. Very flavorful with a nice gravy - 4/5. In regards to the sides, I really enjoyed the mac and cheese. The okra, corn, and tomatoes was like a blast from my childhood, as my grandma would make it on a regular. The mashed potatoes were good, however I did think the gravy could have been better. It's didn't seem like the same gravy from the pork chop, but I could be wrong. The customer service was good, however there was only one waitress taking care of the entire restaurant. She was very friendly but I was hard I make contact with her when we needed her. I waited at the table for the bill for a long time and decided to go find her and when I did she was busy taking care of the hostess area. She was a little overwhelmed, but again she was friendly and was doing the best she could. All in all, the food was good and I would return to try other menu items.

Ommmmgggggg this place is outstanding!!!everything was delicious. Aside from the beautifully historic location, I was surprised that I had not heard or come here before!!! I ordered the pork chops and my goodnessss!!!! Probably the best Pork chops I have ever had period!!!

This is my second time at this location, The food was BOMB both times. The service was really good and my food came out quick and hot. Forgive me but I don't remember the waitress name. I believe it was Angela or angelique. She was great and I originally thought she own the place because she was doing everything from host, waitress, cook, and cleaning. That woman deserves a round of applause . I really don't understand why this place isn't packed around the corner, the service and food is that good. Im glad it isn't tho because I would have to wait for a table lol

Didn't have ain't chicken thighs, but when ordering and ask was told that the meal came with thigh and a leg. When the plate was brought out it had two little chicken legs that when we were told that they had no thighs. Like accept it!!! No get the manager in which add another leg. But the kicker was the price on the menu didn't match the bill. Waitress states prices are subject to change. Well would you inform your customers of that when they are ordering? Just very bad communication skills. Ambiance was nice had a live band playing.

Had the amazing privilege of eating at the Dunbar on yesterday and let me tell you, it was the best food that I have had in a very long time. The service was great and the staff were friendly. The food was cooked to perfection, there was even live music. My husband had smothered pork chops and I had the smothered chicken. I usually take my food home and it's up for grabs with my two boys, but I told the nope, can't eat my left overs.. Please don't sleep, run fast to this place, you won't be disappointed.

First of all, let me talk about parking, well there is a small parking lot in the back of the hotel,that will house 8-10 cars,depending on how you park! Street parking is taken up by the hotel van that caters to the families being housed on vouchers. It is quite quaint inside, nothing to brag about. The neighborhood is definitely in the heart of the hood! The food was just okay! Grits were durable once smothered in hotsauce. The chicken Patty was okay, the pancakes absolutely disgusting, had no flavor whatsoever,more like water-based dough with no flavoring, and the syrup was cheap and slimy. Here's the thing, you can't be that deep in the hood and charge those high prices,and use the low-end products! The coffee was just okay. They do, however, offer flavored creamers. Would I return, probably not, because most folk I know would not want to be that deep in the hood! And if you're looking for ambiance, it definitely isn't here! By the way, coffee happens to be 4 bucks! In the hood! And there you have it, surely these are just my opinions and thoughts, please try it for yourself!

The atmosphere takes you back in time to the Jazz Era. Adrianna and her staff welcome guests with warms smiles and great service. However, it's the food that takes you back home. The soul food reminded my son of his Grannie's kitchen with sweet tea, oxtails, mac n' cheese, and yams. Love at first bite! He said the oxtails were tender; and, from the first sip of tea, he smiled and said, "Tastes like Grannie's." My husband rested easy with fried chicken that tasted like Chicago/Mississippi. Juicy, crunchy, and well seasoned. He ordered the gumbo to go, because, well, he knows it's on point. I ventured for the other soul food, Mexican. The fish tacos with Bass were crispy with a cornmeal batter that was light with great texture. The salsa had great heat that was measured by the chipotle aioli. We come here every time we come to LA from San José, CA. We are never disappointed. We always feel like we have come home.

One more day for the DineLA special, don't miss out! Delicious at the Dunbar (Dunbar Hotel) has a lunch $15 special and a dinner $35 prix fixe menu. Each person at your table must participate, can't order one meal and share. That is fair since the price is right. The menu consisted of one appetizer, entree and dessert for each person. This restaurant included dessert in the price, others add a small charge for dessert. They served good portions and we could not finish it all. The restaurant was very clean, nice murals on the walls, friendly staff and good customer service. APPETIZER: Salmon Croquettes and Fried fish with curly fries - both were seasoned well and very tasty. I would definitely order the fish again. I added a separate order of the 2-piece fried chicken Ala carte. It was FANTASTIC, so crunchy and tasty. ENTREE: Seafood Gumbo and Jambalaya. The food was excellent and AUTHENTIC. This is especially important when you are craving DELICIOUS soul food. I do have a weakness for Gumbo and would definitely return for this dish. DESSERT: Peach Cobbler all the way! One of my most favorite desserts of all time. I drove over an hour to get here and will come back for Peach Cobbler. I took most of it home because the food was so good and plentiful. I am happy DineLA is helping restaurants with this promotion twice a year. Personally, I try a new place every time and it is not easy to choose from the many restaurants and type of cuisine offered.

This place is a hidden gem. The ambiance was very chill. The decor was nice. The restaurant was bright and full of natural light, very comfortable. We were being taken care of by Angie. She was very knowledgeable about all of the items on the menu and made excellent recommendations. She was attentive and thorough and had amazing customer service. The food was excellent and not overpriced. At our table we had fried chicken, fried pork chops, smothered pork chops, fried fish, Mac n cheese, greens (with smoked turkey), yams, blackeye peas, I had French toast turkey bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. I also ordered a meatloaf with mashed potatoes mac n cheese and greens to go. Not a single complaint. The food was very good and was flavorful. The mac n cheese and fried fish were my favorite. Also, the cheese eggs were great. My only critique would be with the gravy it needed for seasoning, but that was an easy fix. After 2 on Sundays, they have live jazz, which was great. This place is highly recommended. I'll be back.

Such a cute restaurant with great food and customer service. Loved all the food! The cornbread and the sides were all good! And the decor is so cute and airy.

Saturday breakfast with hubby, he found this spot which we enjoyed. Southern style breakfast was delicious! Large plates, we couldn't finish. You can't tell from the outside, but it's very nice and accommodating. Service was good. We also got a banana pudding, very hard to find good ones. This one was great! If you're in the area, worth trying.

Had a business lunch here. Nice location. Food looked amazing I felt it was a bit salty though. Definitely will come back to try the $5 happy hour. Waitress was nice

Checked out Delicious at The Dunbar after looking for a woman owned restaurant to try and reading all about this restaurants history, as well as the history of the Dunbar hotel! Very glad I tried this spot and overall had a good time but likely not returning because there is better southern food in LA. Ambiance - it was very empty when we were there but overall very average, I think the best part is the history of the hotel and I enjoyed learning about this rich history as I ate. Service - pretty understaffed but it was a slow day. The server was very bubbly and friendly despite sometimes disappearing for a bit! Food - I'd say very average. I liked the corn bread and my fish was definitely moist and cooked well. Greens were soaking wet and needed salt. Mac and cheese was average. Fried chicken I was told was also average but nothing special! Drinks - not many options and was too nervous to try a cocktail based on reviews so just had coffee. Price - very standard for downtown LA! Overall - good experience and didn't hate my food but did think it was pretty average and they could use a few improvements of the menu staples such as the Mac and greens. Had fun with the server since she was nice and friendly but I know the slowness might be tough for others that expect a bit more! Good spot for a bite to eat and awesome that it's women owned but overall not worth returning to for me.

I have eaten at the Dunbar for lunch and dinner which has always been excellent. The breakfast was just OK. The food came out cold. The biscuits felt like they just came from the refrigerator. The waitress was super nice, but there was only one waitress, and only one cook, it took forever to get our food and this has been their problem in the past. One of my pet peeves for any venue is don't bring me cold food and apparently the food was sitting because by the time it got to us, it was literally room temperature . The ambience is always nice

Worst Brisket i've ever had! It was straight up fat and gristle chunks in my quesadilla and taco. I'm really disappointed!

Decided to venture out to try a new place in a different neighborhood. I had heard about the tremendous history of the Dunbar hotel so I was very excited to try this restaurant which is on the ground floor of the hotel. HISTORY LESSON: If you're not aware, the hotel was known for its jazz scene and a place where many notable African Americans involved in Civil Rights movement would gather. Ok so back to the restaurant, they have both indoor and outdoor dining. It's very spacious inside. The staff were all very nice and attentive. I loved the decor inside! Let's talk about the food, delicious!! We eat seafood from time to time so we ordered the fried fish po boy sandwich. Seasoned just right! The fries were tasty too. Also the price was very affordable. We will definitely be back!

Coming the historical Dunbar Hotel to have lunch At Delicious was like a kid in the candy store l. This history of the place had me in amazement. Angie was my server and was great with her drink and food selections. The ambiance of the restaurant is bright and inviting. I enjoyed my delicious food. I came for lunch. Angie is a great mixologist. The potion of s a lot and had to bring it home. If the walls of this building could. I would be sure to listen. This restaurant is in a residential area so parking is difficult. They do have jazz nights, if you looking for a night out on the town. The entrees are Soul food, Mexica, Creole and Cajun. Me and my boyfriend came to check this place out on a Monday because we are sadly very introverted. Upon getting there we were greeted by a waitress with black but mainly blonde hair. She wanted to sit us on a table at the front but we politely asked her if we could sit in a more comfortable area for us. She said no because it's not as easier to "clean". After I asked her again if we may sit on a different table because it makes it more comfortable for me and more spacious for my baby's stroller she said fine. The entire place was empty byw. I could tell she was annoyed. Anyways she sat us down and her whole vibe was just her being annoyed at us for wanting to sit somewhere else. When she brought us our food, she didn't even make eye contact and just handed us the plate. I felt so uncomfortable that my appetite went away. I was ready to leave. Then I caught her slightly give me an annoyed face. At that point I just didn't eat my food. Thankfully mid way though another waitress came to finish attending us and she was a sweet heart. I wish that blonde haired lady never attended us because she was rude. Anyways I ordered the nachos, the fried chicken plate, and the burger special. My boyfriend really loved the food. I didn't eat at the restaurant but did bring my food back in a container and enjoyed my food at home, it was sooo delicious! The cornbread was sooo good, the mash potatoes was my favorite. Even my little 9m old baby enjoyed the food :) Sadly I won't be returning to dine in. Maybe just take out :)

Yummy !!!! It's hard to find good soul food I really like this place. Ordered from home took 45 min it was still hot!! Everything was yummy and tasty

Had Dine LA dinner. They do a awesome job The servers was very good, polite and attentive. I had salmon croquettes, grilled fish with two sides dishes . Greens and corn and okra. Everything was fabulous, service is quick and they come back to check on you. To full for dessert so they wrapped it go all this for $35. There were 5 of us and we all ordered different and everyone was happy and satisfied and stuffed. Cant wait to co E back

Killer Brunch, Cajun, and Sunday Jazz I first heard about Delicious at The Dunbar on 90.7 fm KPFK on the Earl Ofari Hutchinson Show (airs Saturdays starting at 9am)! The Dunbar Hotel is a hidden gem in South Los Angeles and was once at the heart of LA's Central Ave Jazz scene. Delicious lives up to the legacy of this hub of music and culture with not only amazing and authentic Cajun and Mexican fusion, but now features fantastic Jazz musicians every Sunday for brunch. I also love that the business is women and minority owned and operated! The brunch my wife and I had on our first visit was fantastic and a surprising deal for Cajun food in LA. The French toast and salmon croquettes combo was excellent, and I had to get a hot link on the side. My wife had one of the soul food entrees, the fried fish, which was even better than the already delicious salmon croquettes. My wife and I are expecting soon, so neither of us were drinking, but we'll certainly be back to try their southern inspired cocktails (and hopefully their 1.5 hr bottomless mimosa for $20 )

The food was better than expected left a great taste in my mouth for a person that does not eat meat I had salmon croquettes and as you see they are gone

The food was delicious. We had fried chicken and ox tails with yams which were very good. The drinks were good also. The waitress was nice a little slow but I liked her anyway. The noise level was excellent not loud . I will recommend to friends and family.

The French toast are classic and delicious. I dined in with some coworkers for a meeting over lunch. Two of us had the French toast which are nicely sized, and throughly enjoyed them. The turkey bacon was classic and made well. The hash browns I had were basic and not very flavorful or exciting. The shrimp and grits looked delicious but the bowl is deep and medium sized so the flavor sat on top. My coworker ate the top half of the dish. Someone else had the fried fish with hash browns and a biscuit. She loved the fried fish and needed syrup for the biscuit. In all, we enjoyed the meal. I'll definitely be back for the French toasts and I'll try something else on the menu! The inside was clean, including the restrooms. Parking seemed a bit difficult, but there's a small on the side of the building. The server was very attentive, though the restaurant was not busy at the time.

For the past few Sundays I've dined at the wonderful restaurant! Diana is usually our server as I typically come with a large group of people. She is attentive, kind and efficient. She always goes above and beyond to make sure we are well taken care of! The food is truly what the name indicates, DELICIOUS. On Sundays they have live music which contributes to the aesthetically pleasing ambiance. This place is definitely worth 5 stars and with servers like Diana it will be around for many years to come. Thanks Diana for all your hard work!

This review reflects several disappointing experiences at Delicious at the Dunbar (DATD) BUT none of the experiences would I describe as a "delicious" experience. To start things off I made reservations last week on Open Table to take my Dad to DATD as a post Father's Day dinner; however the earliest reservation that it would give me was 5:30 p.m. My dad lives in La County; however I live in Riverside County and as I'm sure you see it was a long drive and not a great feeling after all the disappointments. When we arrived the place was pretty empty and the young man that seated us let us know he did not have a reservation for us and that the owner had the reservations associated with Open Table; however the waitress informed us that they were not associated with Open Table. As you will see from the pics attached Open Table is definitely affiliated with this reservation and if not I don't know how they are still managing reservations online; seems like something management would legally addressed as this is false advertisement. If you go to the restaurant's website and try to reserve a table you will see the affiliation to Open Table and you will be able to make reservations through that site. Nonetheless we were seated and informed that the kitchen would be closing at 6 p.m.; yes we now find out that the restaurant closes at 6 p.m. Prior to this I didn't check the hours on google or their actual website since again Open Table gave me a reservation for 5:30. We rushed to place our orders; two short ribs and my dad ordered the oxtails. When we received our meals; we were really shocked at the very small slice of short ribs; mostly bones and my food was lukewarm to cold. Now we being very familiar with short ribs at various southern cuisine restaurants; I've never seen a piece of short rib this small and for $28. At this point I'm wondering is this because it's closing or is this a practice of how they serve their short ribs; which should be conveyed so that the customers are not surprised. I asked about the portion size and they stated that it's cut at the butcher and served that size to everyone; however if the chef determines that the piece is too small; they would add a half of another piece and they did provide us with two more halves. Nonetheless, I also tasted the collard greens and they were a little on the salty/bitter side to me, the mac & cheese were pretty typical to a more commercial Mac & cheese opposed to a real southern Mac & cheese, the rice and gravy was ok but the overall issue I had was the food was not hot and if you are selling food at 9 a.m. or 5:30 p.m.; it should be hot. I decided at that point I didn't want my food which I had not even tasted the meat or eaten much of the other items. The one good note was my dad did enjoy his oxtails overall and it was a very good portion served. He also noted that it was pretty warm but was saddening to see that he had to rush to eat because of the reservation issues. The other person joining us that had the short rib was not happy either but decided to keep hers and I told her to keep the extra halves which would make the portion size more reasonable. I decided to order dessert that the waitress encouraged was fresh and just so you are aware the banana pudding is not a "southern" recipe either but fresh if you like an instant banana pudding recipe. I also tasted my Dad's yams and they were pretty good. We also ordered an Arnold Palmer and the other person with us ordered the strawberry lemonade; both were good and refreshing. We began to wrap things up about 6:15 and the owner finally called the waitress back and informed her that there was a policy of "no return" of food once it was ordered so I ended up having to pay for that short rib dinner that I never ate and at this time had been cleared from my table. I was so over this experience that we paid and left. I felt bad for the waitress, Diana, to have to experience all of this as she really wasn't equipped to be able to adequately convey or assist as her English wasn't the best but she was so very nice and sympathetic to all that we were experiencing and she did her best! The other guy working; I believe his name was Justin was very articulate and definitely understood the importance of conveying certain information from a "southern cuisine" aspect to assist us in ordering with a good understanding of what "southern cuisine" looks like at Delicious at the Dunbar! If you are in the Los Angeles area and looking for some really good southern cuisine; check out Fixins Soul Kitchen on Olympic. I wanted to give another place a try but this just did not end up being a "Delicious" Experience! Not sure why you are unable to see other pics posted; especially the short ribs.

The food is excellent, service is on point, and the ambience is clean and refreshing.

Went here with couple friends because we wanted to try new cuisine during Dine LA week. Their food is bomb and come in a huge portions! Their banana pudding is the best I have in my life! For real tho! It made me feeling extremely guilty for my non cheat day :( Their fried chicken and fried catfish sampler are damn good too. Their margarita was pretty strong and it perfectly fit my whole set menu! Too bad their beer machines were broken so we weren't able to order any beers :(

The food is delicious! Angelica is the best! She is always quick and on the spot with service. Can't beat the icon Dunbar hotel. Love it!

Just had an early dinner here & listened to the jazz band..it was nice, food was delish, our waiter was nice. I would go again for sure!

My family does an event called the ABC Foodtrip. Sunday was S Day, so after a scavenger hunt in Santa Monica and a trip to Sidecar Donuts, we headed to Delicious at the Dunbar for some Soul Food! We had reservations, but they were able to seat us early when we arrived. The restaurant is comfortable and the service was friendly and attentive. Pro tip: Check in on Yelp for a free dessert! 5/5: Oxtails - Everything I wanted it to be! Great gravy and amazingly tender. 4/5: Fried Chicken - Dark - Crispy and good flavor. I'm sure many would rate this a 5/5. My family has super high standards and comparisons though. I would get this again! 4/5: Black Eyed Peas - Great flavor. This place knows how to season food! 4/5: Southern Peach Tea - sweet tea, Makers Mark and Peach Schnapps. really yummy 4/5: Collard Greens - Wow... really flavorful! 4/5: Meatloaf - Thick slices. Very good and filling. 4/5: Fried Shrimp Po'Boy - The shrimp gets a little lost in this though 4/5: Kool-Aid Lemonade - Simple concept, but really good! Cherry Kool-aid and lemonade. 3/5: Mac and Cheese - a little too soft and mushy. 3/5: BBQ 4 piece Beef Hot Link Sliders - Sausage and construction is good, but not better than what you can buy at the store and make yourself. 3/5: Corn Dressing - only available on Sundays 3/5: Creole Beef Spaghetti - not distinctive enough 3/5: Cherry Tea Cobbler - grenadine, courvoissier and Sprite 2/5: Loaded Nachos with Fried Chicken - just okay

Historic South Central hidden gem! Private Parking. Great ambiance. Food was really good! A place to visit again when I visit LA.

I ordered the Oxtails. What you see is part of the bed of rice. Oxtails were on top of the rice with gravy. I separated the oxtails in order to SHOW what I rec'd for $29 plus tax. Meal included two sides (yams & macaroni n cheese). I ordered the meal to take out. I was given a TIED UP bag. I opened it to see exactly what I paid for. When I ordered I asked about the size of the oxtails. I was told they vary in size. I would receive more if they were not large in size to make up. I was SHOCKED at what was in the container. I said this isn't acceptable and I would like to cancel the order. I initially asked for Mgmt and was told she was not there and couldn't be reached. I was given a few more pieces that looked like the same scraps. I was ROBBED of my $$$. I had not touched the food nor left the restaurant AND was not given my money back. I called the next day. STILL could not speak to the owner or mgmt I patronized this restaurant only because I attended a special event for the Councilmember in the 9th District. Everything was just as it should have been. I invited my family member to join me and purchase a take out meal. We live in the Valley which is North of South LA City. I would NOT RECOMMEND this establishment to anyone. There are two locations---Crenshaw Blvd and Central Avenue (at what was formerly The Dunbar Hotel). Look at the food BEFORE paying!! Or, you will not get your money back!! RUN!! DON'T WALK!!! SHAME ON DELICIOUS RESTAURANT FOR THIS UNACCEPTABLE FOOD AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I would give -1 Star if that was an option. This place did not disappoint with their brunch! Super hidden but very nice inside the ambiance feels very welcoming

I had the Southern Combo w/Salmon Croquettes was fire, great atmosphere the service was excellent . The waitress had a pleasant attitude I would definitely be back. Live Jazz sounds amazing

Great food and service and ambiance! Love, love loved the waitress and the live band was the cherry on top!

The food was great and the music is even better! I went on a Sunday afternoon so I'm not sure if they band plays every day.
