Yelp
Cozy neighborhood hole-in-the-wall for your classic Canto food. Honestly not much different from the overhyped Great NY Noodletown - it's just a smaller space and closes earlier. Sometimes I prefer restaurants like these over Noodletown because it offers some dim sum dishes (all day!) in addition to the standard BBQ meats/rice/noodle dishes, and far away from tourists. Even though its tacky paper menu screams inauthentic, Asian American takeout food, don't judge a book by its cover.
I've ordered the roast pork rice rolls ($2.75) to go and was so pleasantly surprised with how soft & chewy the wrapping was. I returned a few weeks later for a casual brunch and ordered them again. So delicious! Also got the pork shumai ($2.75) which took a while to come out (we thought they forgot it, and we didn't remind them) but turned out they were probably making it from scratch / just started to steam it after we ordered. They came out more than halfway through our meal, so good and fresh. We also had a Noodle Soup - Stewed Beef Brisket, Tendon & Wontons w/ Broad Rice Noodles - another one of our classics but it was a bit of a let down. Anything with those broad rice noodles is kind of difficult to do right though, so eh I don't blame them.
I've had a couple of rice dishes in the past (beef w/ string beans, my fave) and they just hit the spot. Wouldn't say this is the BEST place to get your fix, but it's convenient for me and does the trick for my Canto cravings.
