The 38 Essential Copenhagen Restaurants

"Located around the corner from the perennially thronged row houses of Nyhavn, the understated wine bar Den Vandrette is something of an oasis. Owner Sune Rosforth is one of Copenhagen’s leading importers of biodynamic wines, and here his team serves a thoughtful selection of charcuterie and cheese that plays well with the formidable list. There are some exceptional orange wines on offer from Georgia, ideally paired with some Georgian khachapuri." - Anna Norström, Gabe Ulla

It was an incredible surprise this wine bar / restaurant, our waiter as so gentle and nice, in general the vibes are great here. Additional, the food was tasty and fresh I super recommend this place. I will be back for sure.

Google
4 stars for the wine, well curated, interesting and okay priced. 2 for the food, expensive and utterly forgettable. 95 kr for a “khachapuri” made from puff pastry and so small it fits in the palm of a hand is too much even for Copenhagen. The cheese “board” comes at the exorbitant price of 125 kr and features two cheeses in tiny quantities, and knäckebröd that disintegrates as soon as it is picked up. Service was really good, but definitely recommend to concentrate on the wine.

The waiter made us feel 120% special. Was extraordinary focused on our needs. We received 'red carpet' treatment. Thanks

What a true gem!!! A total must if you like relaxed vibes, amazing wine and super delish small plates Addi and Michal make this place the coolest with their really cool and laid back energy! The wine list is full of bangers (they have it all, succulent Loire stuff, wilder Georgian bangers, fun Spanish...) And the food... ideally you go very hungry and just order the whole menu twice... that’s what we did :0

Had heard a lot about this place. Four of us meandered from our hotel towards this restaurant. Seating was only outside- late evening- just perfect. This place mainly has tapas style food. We ordered the cheese platter and the scallops. For the wines, I was expecting more of a choice but eventually the lack of choice was more than made up by the quality. There were 2 red wines and we had both. The one I had- a Loire valley red - mind blowing. The other one was great too. Our elder daughter had an unfiltered white wine from Portugal - she loved it. All in all a very good evening.

Little wine bar close to Nyhavn. Great spot for local tasting menu with a great wine pairing. You can choose a wine bottle from their own wine cellar or choose a glass from a well curated wine menu. Book your table in advance and skol!

Fantastic wines (also check out Rosforth & Rosforth) and great shareable food with very high quality but easy to approach. Reserve a table, otherwise you probably don’t fit in..

While we waited for our dinner reservation at nearby Barr, my friend and I stopped into Den Vandrette Vinbar, just off the main strip where Nyhavn is located. Stepping down a few stairs into a basement space, the entire place is cozy. Greeted by friendly staff, we were seated at a long community table and served still water right away. Asking the server for recommendations, we both landed on a natural white wine for 90 krone a piece. We also ordered the khachapuri, a Georgian cheese bread dish. It came out warm and the cheese oozed out as we cut into it. Den Vandrette was the perfect snack place before dinner. With the staff being so friendly, it was a warm experience.

Yelp
Very touristy area. It's definitely cozy, hygge AF. I had a very nice glass of bub, and we had a charcuterie board that was absolutely great. My BF had a beer that was great. What took down the stars, is they seem disorganized. Granted, we were there on the evening of the St. Lucia festival, so a lot of people are out and about. We sat down at a communal table, got drinks and food, and were enjoying them. A little bit later, we were asked to move. To another table. Um, no. We'd already had to move over a couple times to accommodate more people at the table. We'd been pondering having another glass, when the request to move came by. Nah, we'll settle up and go, then. Other than that, the food and wine were really great. But don't ask us to move because of your bad planning, there was still a whole other dining room that people could have been seated in.

Yelp
I rave about this place to everyone visiting Copenhagen!!! We treated it as a dinner restaurant and spent several hours there trying different wines and appetizers. The food menu is very limited and could have a few more items but other than that this place is great to visit to sip on wine and eat oysters. It was a little difficult to find at first but look for a small sign then stairs that go downstairs. The ambiance was great and had lit candles as lighting with picnic table style seating. If you get along with the waiter or waitress they might even show you the wine cellar!

Yelp
Quaint little wine bar just off Nyhavn harbor. Food is available, though we didn't partake, as we had just walked back from Reffen food market. Very well-selected list of wines by the glass. Be prepared to step outside your comfort zone a bit. We enjoyed an orange wine and our first experience with saperavi from Georgia. (As presented by our server: "It is the color of blood!") Our service was a little brusque at times, but the wines & the location make this a solid 4-star spot.

Yelp
The place you want to be every day at 5. Incredible selection of natural wines and lovely small plates. They have the best sourdough I've ever eaten--I'm not sure if they make it or get it from a local bakery but it's a can't miss. Lovely, fresh seafood, friendly staff, great location, I can't say enough about how great it is. Perfect for a date or pre-opera meet!

Yelp
Great selection of wine, of course, it's a wine bar. The food was an amazing surprise! Everything had great flavor, presentation was very good, the staff was excellent. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and serve us. We had cauliflower soup to start, omg, the soup alone was tasty, but they topped it off with some comte French cheese and truffle, very very good. The bread and cheese next was also very good. Main course was cod for the wife, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the sheep breast, again, most excellent. We are just visiting Copenhagen, but we're going back tonight for some more wine and dessert.

Yelp
I loved this place. They have a great selection of natural wines. We chose an easy and effervescent one to enjoy outside while taking in the view of the waterfront. Definitely try their octopus confit with rosemary aïoli--it is a most delectable snack!

Yelp
Excellent restaurant, terrific food. The sourdough bread with their cheese spread is great. The beetroot jerky is totally unique. Also don't miss the potato dish.

Yelp
Great natural wine and wonderful service and staff. Don't be fooled simply because this bar is located in a heavily touristy area, this is a diamond in the tourist rough! Loved it so much we went 2 days in a row.

Yelp
Fantastic natural wines! Great spot! You can sit both inside or outside facing the harbor! Service is great! Just let thomas choose the wine for you. And try the dish of the day!
