Best Indian Food in Boston | Eater Boston

"Once a health-focused food and beverage purveyor at the Kendall Square Farmers Market, Depth ‘N’ Green is now a full cafe that specializes in all-natural Indian cuisine. Here, you can savor large flatbreads stuffed with spiced potatoes, chicken and vegetarian bowls, plus a particularly flavorful chicken biryani. All the dishes are prepared without artificial ingredients, using only ghee, butter, or olive oil. Pick up premium teas and spices, too." - Helena Mistry

Best Restaurants in Kendall Square, Cambridge | Eater Boston

"This Indian newcomer to the neighborhood prides itself on sourcing high-quality ingredients like grass-fed ghee. The menu is stacked with options like prantha (a flatbread also known as paratha) stuffed with dal, paneer, and more; tender chicken biryani; and empamosas — a cross between a samosa and an empanada. The menu also showcases house-made smoothies and juices and rotating vegetarian offerings." - Erika Adams

If I had to pick one restaurant where I can have my food for the rest of my life, this would be it. Every dish is crafted to perfection, elevated to the level it has to be at and made from the finest ingredients you can get! Every dish is exquisite! The mango lassi is sublime (Bulgarian grass fed probiotic curd!!) and their home made Gussa brand hot sauce needs its own review!

Google
It’s located right next to Paddle Boston in Kendall Square, Depth 'N Green is a great spot for a fresh Indian meal. My butter chicken rice bowl was tasty and the chicken tikka Frankie was solid, though both my curry and my friend’s paneer thali were surprisingly salty. However, the potato fry was easily the best part of the thali, perfectly seasoned and a must-try. Despite the saltiness, the quality is clear and the location makes it a perfect stop after a day on the water. Definitely going to try the Empanosa’s (empanada + samosa) next time

I loved the friendly people working here. They patiently explained the food and were happy to help struggling people like myself. Located in a crowded but quiet street in Cambridge, it’s a perfect spot if you like Indian food and want to spend time with your family. Food: I am not expert, I liked it but I had better Indian food in East Coast.

Google
What an amazing experience! My family and I had dinner at this gem of a cozy restaurant, we ordered chicken thalis, chicken rolls and chicken keema Empamosa. All dishes were packed with flavor. The owner stopped by our table a few times to check on us and shared his passion on how he prepares all dishes which without a doubt are made with a lot of love. This will be a must stop for us every time we are in town.

Google
The best indian food ive had in boston, and the best butter chicken ive ever had (except maybe in London). The menu is perfect and simple, with two chicken options and a few veg options. The roti was nice, I wanted some more after finishing it. Everything tastes very fresh and is reasonably priced, with moderate portion sizes. The interior seating is nice, and water is available. I like how the food is presented

Google
I had a fantastic experience at Depth N Green Indian restaurant. The food was bursting with authentic Indian flavors, beautifully presented, and made with fresh ingredients. The menu has a great variety, including plenty of vegetarian options.I tried the Veg thali and it was outstanding. The staff were warm, friendly, and happy to explain dishes for anyone unfamiliar with Indian cuisine. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual meal or a special outing. The service was prompt, and the overall experience was excellent. I will definitely be returning when i visit cambridge agin in future and highly recommend.

Google
Best and most authentic indian food in Boston by a long shot. We’ve tried most of the Indian places in Boston and nothing compares. You can tell they’re using higher quality ingredients, no artificial colors etc and you’re not left with that feeling of having eaten something way too heavy greasy etc like you often are at other restaurants. Their homemade sweet and spicy sauce (also sold at Whole Foods) is a must. They also use their own spices grown on their farm in India.

Yelp
New health Indian food place in Kendall! Simple but clean vibes, casual place with small menu with the classics -- no decision overload haha The food came quickly and water and putting plates away was self serve. We got the chicken biryani, chicken plate with butter chicken and palak, dal prantha, and extra chapathi! The biryani was prettttty spicy haha but good flavor still. Prantha was also spicy! But less so, and had a nice grainy flavor and good texture Butter chicken was solid but less sweet Palak was saltier than expected This was more than enough food for three people tho! Overall well cooked and was nice to have a healthy meal

Yelp
Picked up palak(spinach) chicken with rice and it was fantastic. Palak gravy was very flavorful and I was delighted to finally taste a good spinach based gravy after a long time. Excited to try more food options from this place in the future.

Yelp
Limited menu. You expect the food to be really good. Food isn't bad it's not something I'll crave. 20 bucks for a thali that's primarily 2 scoops 1 chapati, and rice is steep. I'd understand if it's made to order. But it's pre made food scooped. I understand you want a bottom line of 18 ish bucks which is fair but quantity could be better. Slight adjustments to the menu should do the job. I'd visit again to try some other items.. hoping to see them do well. Maybe try 3 curries for 22 bucks? Or 2 curries with better portion. Guy was friendly, place was clean

Yelp
Horrible overpriced food. Small portions. Owner sounds crazy from his responses to Google reviews. Sorry but "healthy organic ingredients" are being introduced in many places , this place is nothing special. It's not authentic Indian food either. Would not recommend, and especially with how owner responded in a hostile manner to negative reviews

Yelp
This is the best Indian food I've had in any restaurant in the US. Sounds like an exaggeration? Well you got to try it to believe it! Pushphir the visionary founder, takes Indian food out of the stereotypical boxed curry approach, and gives it the due respect that it oh so well deserves. This comes from the use of high quality, all natural ingredients. And not bastardizing recipies with unnecessary use of thickeners, heavy cream, artificial colors etc. It takes courage/conviction to put something like this out, and depth and green does it with oodles of taste and simplicity.

Yelp
Great food, attentive service. It's nice that they even sell spices if you need to stock your pantry. However, they don't have a phone number listed and they close earlier than their listed hours, making it hard to order ahead or walk in. My advice would be to come at lunch time, if you come after 7pm, they may be closed!

Yelp
Not only is the food delicious (I found this place because I was biking nearby and smelled something amazing) but they also make it healthier (without sacrificing taste), and the staff is super welcoming and friendly.

Yelp
Not sure why this place is getting such great reviews. Had lunch there yesterday. Food had been sitting on the counter top probably all day, potatoes were too salty and I wasn't wowed by anything. The chicken curry had very little flavor and the dal was too watery. I'm pretty sure these are the same owners of Guru the caterer in somerville. The food is the same, but double the price because they claim to use organic ingredients, grass fed butter, blah, blah, blah.. If you want to spend $20 dollars on lunch plus $8 dollars for everything else, then go here. Otherwise, much better choices in the area or go to guru the caterer and get the same food at half the price.

Yelp
Best Indian food I've had in a long time. Homestyle, high quality ingredients, fresh with a rotating menu daily. So excited to see this open in Kendall Sq.

Yelp
Very excited to patron an Indian restaurant in Kendall. The first thing I was struck by was how clean and well-ordered the establishment is. The packaged food items were thoughtfully packaged. That thoughtfulness extended itself to the packaging of my takeout meal, a vegetarian thali. I've rarely been so impressed by the packaging of takeout meals but this was so intentional and mindful, it made me feel special and considered. Now the food itself was unexceptionable. The portions were small for the price except for the portion of rice which really "padded" the meal. I imagine the menu is rotating. Today, I had tadka dal and the jeera aloo and neither was crave able. Can't say I'd rush back but because of the atmosphere, service and thoughtfulness, I'd consider trying another dish. But I'd skip the paratha which lacked any chew but entirely crunchy like a cracker.

Yelp
Excellent, very tasty Indian food. The staff was very helpful with the menu items and were very accommodating with a food allergy.

Yelp
Excellent quality Indian cuisine. Personal service from the owner. Simple, squeaky clean, bright and modern cafe ambiance, great for lunch in Kendall Square.

Yelp
I just discovered Depth 'N' Green today - I think it's in the place that used to be Shanti. The food was wonderful - very fresh and lovingly prepared. The food is very healthy - no artificial anything. I felt well nourished by the end of my lunch. I had a chicken/vegetable combo thali, which comes with wheat prantha and a cup of tapioca sweet for dessert. I'm glad Indian food has returned to the Kendall Square neighborhood!
