Desierto Azul (Todos Santos, Baja California Sur) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"First came the surfers, then the official distinction as one of Mexico’s Pueblos Mágicos, and finally, a wave of designers, chefs, and hoteliers, turning the once-quiet beach village of Todos Santos into a hip getaway on the Baja California peninsula. Among the numerous style-conscious lodgings on offer is Desierto Azul, a petite boutique hotel on a sun-baked stretch of land a few blocks back from the coastline." - Tablet Hotels

Desierto Azul, Todos Santos, Baja California, Mexico - Explore & Book

"Just outside the sleepy arty town of Todos Santos in Baja California Sur lies Desierto Azul, a hidden haven for environmentally conscious travellers seeking peace and rejuvenation. With only four spacious and organically designed units, this sustainable retreat marries minimalist living with high-end luxury and stunning views of the Baja cacti, desert mountains and the sound of rolling ocean waters that lap the nearby beach. Everything about Desierto Azul is curated to have as little impact as possible – the entire property is powered by solar energy, including the heated saltwater infinity pool. Wastewater is recycled for irrigation, plastic is banned and the onsite restaurant is dedicated to plant-based cuisine and the promotion of healthy indulgence. The organic mantra also extends to the cool cowboy-chic design, sumptuous natural furnishings and high-end beauty products. Food is a focus. Onsite food options are vegan specialties including organic breakfasts, and the resort also runs a calendar of plant-based cookery courses in its own kitchen studio. If you can tear yourself away from the pool and those sunrise/sunset views, nearby Todos Santos is an artistic enclave with shops, markets and eateries where you can while away a balmy afternoon or evening, soaking up the local colour. Highs The superb quality of the breakfasts, cocktails and the organic coffee; make sure to take a cooking class while you stayExceptional service – the resort scores almost unanimously perfect scores from guests, who particularly enjoy the intimacy, low-key luxury, personal details and kind but unobtrusive staffVery sympathetically designed with regards to its surroundings – wood pergolas, artisanal tiles, linen and organic cotton bedcovers, palm leaf lamps etc – that combine rustic charm with modern eleganceUsefully located only a few minutes' stroll to the beach, and a 10-minute drive from Todos Santos itselfAn inspirational commitment to all things organic and eco friendly Lows You’ll need a car if you want to explore and, although it goes against the sustainability ethos, a 4x4 is recommended because of the rough roadsWith only four rooms, you'll need to book aheadThe sunbleached minimalist desert aesthetic may not suit all, including the desert scrub in the immediate landscape" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

This Gorgeous, Four-Suite Todos Santos Boutique Hotel Proves That Good Things Come in Small Packages - Hotels Above Par - Boutique Hotels & Travel

"Owned by husband-and-wife duo Fabrizio and Nilú, this four-key boutique hotel in Todos Santos blends minimalist and boho-chic design with strong eco-minded practices. Polished concrete interiors, local artisanal tiles, palm-leaf chairs and lamps, pergolas with hammocks and a native, drought-tolerant desert garden create a calm, nature-driven atmosphere; a saltwater pool looks out over a cacti-clad landscape and is bordered by loungers for lazy afternoons. Food and drink options include an on-site, gluten-free and dairy-free boulangerie run by the owners (PANVERO Bakery & Elixirs), a partial bar serving kombucha and cervezas, and a plant-based cooking studio that often offers classes. Sustainability is prioritized through solar power, sun-heated hot water, bio-digestors for black water, and xeriscaping, making it a compact, worry-free retreat for travelers seeking design-forward simplicity and eco-friendly comforts."

As a TV producer, we chose this family-owned resort as a backdrop for an entire episode of our show. The staff was amazing. The vibe and the views were peaceful. You could clearly see the stars at night & hear the gentle crashing of waves from the beach nearby. The food was also incredible. I was so thrilled to find everything on the menu was created from scratch & mostly plant based and gluten-free. This is one of the best kept secrets in Mexico. We love it so much and can’t wait to go back.

Desierto Azul was a hidden gem and I'm so glad we opted to stay there for a girls' trip getaway! With only 4 rooms, it was quiet and welcoming, with the most amazing level of service from all of the staff. Although there were other people staying at the same time, it felt very private and we even had the saltwater pool to ourselves a couple times. From a warm welcome with delicious drinks by the pool and nourishing breakfasts every morning (with gluten and dairy free options!) to stellar staff suggestions on where to go, we loved every minute of our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone! It was also a treat to have the PanVero bakery right next door for coffee and treats! I'd absolutely stay at Desierto Azul again!

Absolutely fanatic trip at Desierto Azul. Don’t think twice! The property and staff exceeded our expectations. We so looked forward to the delicious healthy breakfast everyday and spending time at the divine pool. The staff and owners are gems. We came for our daughter’s first birthday and they even surprised her with a cake and candle. We will be back! Heartfelt thanks for everything!

Really exceptional place. We stayed for 5 nights and it was the highlight of our 3 weeks in Mexico. Hotel is a beautiful oasis in the desert and the rooms really well designed and appointed. Some great restaurants nearby and a short drive to Todos Santos. We saw whales every day from the stunning empty beach just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. As others have mentioned, the staff make this place particularly special. Wonderfully kind and a pleasure to be around. Big thank you to Marta, Manuel and Jose for making us feel so well looked after.

Everything about this place appeals to me - the attention the smallest of details in the luxurious contempory design, the warmth and friendliness of the staff (José, Manuel and Martha) the delicious food and drinks and THE POOL, where all our cares floated away as we watched the Baja birds among cactus. Even the choice of music played felt coordinated with the whole spirit here. We loved it.

We spent a week here in February and loved every minute of it. It was a 10 minute drive to town, a 10 minute walk to the beach (where we saw whales frolicking on a daily basis) and a 10 minute drive to the Green Room for sunset cocktails and bites. The room was peaceful and quiet, and we were very impressed at their very real commitment to sustainability. Major plus was drinkable water from the tap and the delicious breakfast included in the stay. Manuel gave us loads of tips for enjoying the area, Martha made the most delicious avocado toast in the morning and kept our room sparkling clean. Jose is the manager and he's obviously doing a great job. Loved the salt water pool, too!
