"The latest combo restaurant-listening bar to open in Boston, Desnuda Cocina & Bar (from the same team behind other South End staples including Greek favorite Kava Neo-Taverna) focuses on a globe-trotting array of snacks and small plates to pair with inventive cocktails in a vibey space. A spread might include the restaurant’s signature ceviche, a couple of bao, tacos, and a classic Peruvian plate of ají de gallina (chicken stew) or lomo saltado (a beef stir-fry). Once you’re finished with dinner in the upstairs dining room, head downstairs to the subterranean listening bar for a couple of after-dinner cocktails in a swanky space." - Erika Adams

Had a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, the service was attentive and friendly, and the drinks were top-notch. Everything was well-prepared and came out just right. Definitely a place worth coming back to! Antonio at the bar was great.

The new sister restaurant to ilona did not disappoint. First off, the food was fabulous, with reasonable portions for the price, given this is a higher-end restaurant in the South End. The duck confit was a standout for me, with both the duck and rice cooked and seasoned perfectly. Definitely save room for the tres leches, which was absolutely decadent. To me, the menu leans more Latin than Asian. The space is dimly lit and well decorated with a cozy-chic feel, and the music helps set the vibe without being overbearing. Felipe behind the bar is the best, making everyone feel right at home! The service wasn’t super speedy, and I think the dishes could have been staggered better, hence 4-stars for service. It was their opening night, so I expect they’ll get any issues ironed out soon enough. I’ll definitely be back, and I still need to check out the listening bar downstairs. Kitchen upstairs closes around 9:45/10pm!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Desnuda. Well done to the whole team and especially manager Svenja (formerly of Ilona and Gigi’s). The design of the space is really special, both upstairs and downstairs. The music and overall vibe is great too. We loved our drinks. The Emerald Elixir was our favorite. Well balanced and unique. The food is primarily Peruvian /Japanese fusion small/mid size plates. Do not skip the Desnuda Civiche. It is special! We also loved the chicken baos, the lomo saltado, the miso cod, and everything we ordered. Our server Anna was helpful, informative and attentive. Congrats to the whole team. It is something unique in the neighborhood.

The best experience in Boston if you want to have an intimate dinner or a crazy night on the underground, but get here early because it is always full. Felipe was a great bartender, look for him if you come.

Solid Latin American restaurant/bar with great food and drinks. Last Sunday, we finally made our way to Desnuda for dinner. While the buzz around the downstairs bar was tempting, we decided to skip the scramble of first-come, first-served seating and opted for the regular dining room instead. Desnuda, like its siblings under the MAZI group, stayed true to a formula: classic dishes with straightforward flavor profiles. Here, the focus was on Latin American and Peruvian cuisine, with a few whispers of fusion flair. Though some diners have noted Asian influences, these touches were subtle, appearing in only a dish or two. From the traditional flavors, Desnuda Ceviche was a bright and zesty start. It was on par with the good ceviches I’ve had in Miami —though the portions leaned on the smaller side. The Mini Jalea was essentially crispy calamari/octopus drizzled in that signature ceviche sauce. The standout for me was the Anticuchos Pork: tender, smoky roasted pork belly crowned with chimichurri. While the occasional charred bits brought a touch of bitterness, the sweet avocado purée tied everything together. The entrées continued the theme. The Chaufa and Arroz Con Pato (Duck Confit) were solid. In the latter, the duck was juicy and tender, but the rice beneath it was less successful. The Arborio rice landed somewhere between porridge and risotto, so its texture felt slightly out of place. The most “fusion” moments on the menu were the Cod Miso and the Miso Eggplant. The cod, which was actually bass, had a soft, tender texture but lacked the punch of miso flavor—its interior felt bland and unseasoned. The eggplant, however, was covered in a thick, rich miso sauce, and it worked beautifully to elevate to umami when paired with the Chaufa. Overall, a solid meal. Not sure if I would return solely for the food, but I would be interested in returning for some drinks.

This is my 2nd time at Desnuda and every time I’ve been extremely satisfied! I had friends come in town and I wanted to take them here based on my great experience the first time I came. The environment is great and my personal favorite is the downstairs area. The food is amazing, the chimichurri is incredible and was cooked perfectly. The music is great and it is overall a very good experience. Highly recommend!
