"Owned and cooked by Julie Stevens, this pop-up-turned-restaurant concept grew famous for its birria de res tacos—tender stewed beef served in tortillas dipped into a cup of consommé—and for rotating menu additions inspired by the chef’s family and time in Miami. While plans to open a John R. Road location were canceled after lease, buildout, menu and naming disagreements with the landlord, the operation continued as a popular pop-up at the owner’s husband’s family bar and experimented with vegetarian options (potato and soy chorizo tacos) as well as Puerto Rican and Cuban items like empanadas (including pizza-topped versions) and Cuban sandwiches made with the chef’s own mustard recipe.
