The 33 Best Restaurants In Melbourne 2023

"This brutalist restaurant feels a bit like an art gallery. Towering concrete interior walls host video installations by Aussie artists such as Reko Rennie, while waiters move gracefully between tables, topping up a Barolo here, delivering a Campari and soda there. Pretty plates of upscale Italian dishes will impress—maybe crab capellini, or the signature foil-wrapped veal schnitzel sandwich, crusts off—but just know that a meal here can get pricey, fast. If you’re looking for a celebration spot though, Di Stasio Citta always delivers." - ellen fraser

It was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for both casual outings and special occasions. Everything we ordered was super delicious, especially their arancini😋 The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!

The food I was served was absolutely impeccable at Di Stasio tonight. The arancini balls were sublime, nice and warm but not too hot, as they often tend to be. The focaccia was delicious, the waitress very cleverly had it served alongside the soft, pillowy ricotta & spinach gnudi so I could sop up the burnt butter sauce. I wasn’t a huge fan of the cream served with the focaccia, it was far too rich but the butter sauce was amazing so I didn’t mind at all. The main meal, pasta bolognaise, was delicious and the ZABAGLIONE CUSTARD was quite simply incredible. My only issue with my visit to this innovative and conceptual restaurant was the pricing. The entree serve size of the pasta was $43, and while I was not left hungry afterwards *at all* I do feel the pricing for this and the gnudi was a bit crazy given how little was served. Beyond this, a delicious dinner and I look forward to visiting again! PS Thank you to the lovely lady who was my waitress, you gave some excellent recommendations :)

Di Stasio for me produced on the night one of the best pastas I’ve personally had in Melbourne (Yet to go to Tip 00). My favourite by far was the Linguini Capri followed closely by the Paccheri Bolognaise (will not be ordering the Malloreddus Campidanise again 4 sure). The Entrees were good but nothing 2 special to boast about. Solid Entrees, Main event Pasta, didn’t do dessert but looked good. Went at dinner time and did the $80 set menu which was just a pasta and a secondi (entrée?). Ordered Paccheri Bolognaise Malloreddus Campidanise (Sasuage) Linguini Capri Carpaccio Crudo Classico

What an amazing Italian experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and the warm, friendly service made it even better. The atmosphere was unique, like dining in an art gallery with artwork projected on the walls. Despite the bustling night, the service was attentive and made us feel well taken care of. We started with foccaccia, beef carpaccio, and fish tartare. The wood-fired focaccia is a must try, light, crispy, and perfect with the creamy ricotta mousse. The beef carpaccio was beautifully paired with rocket and parmessan, and while fish tartare was good, we found the brioche base wasn't quite to our taste. For main, we had the linguine capri and gnocchi. Both were outstanding, some of the best pasta dishes we've had. The gnocchi came with a rich tomato based sauce and tender baby octopus throughout. The prawn linguine had a balance of lemon that made it truly delightful. We wrapped up the meal with the Millefoglie con mele. The puff pastry was light and flaky, the apples cooked to perfection, and the fresh cream brought everything together. Overall, it was a fantastic night out with delicious Italian food, great service, and a vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommended for a special Italian night out!

My partner craved to have an Italian pasta for birthday dinner. To start, we had the house chardonnay and fish tartare. The fish tartar is gorgeous. The pasta potion is small, so that we order the large size (+$5). The “AL MORO” CARBONARA is in regular size and CAPELLINI CON GRANCHIO is in large size. The CARBONARA pasta is so good, the pasta is perfectly cooked and the sauce is outstanding. These pastas generous served with a bowl of cheese!! The service is professional and friendly. Pleas note that there are card sub charge.

Fantastic food and service! Had the most wonderful and fun time! Staff are super attentive and all the small details are noted and taken care of. Their pasta specials are spectacular, particular stars on the show were all the seafood and fish related dishes. Food is super flavourful and rich. Great selection of wine , cool and classic cocktails

I recently had lunch at Di Stasio Citta, an Italian restaurant that delivered an overall delightful experience. We enjoyed the focaccia, brozatto speciale, lasagna, and zabaglione for dessert. Each dish was wonderfully prepared, and the wine selection complemented the meal perfectly. The portion sizes were satisfying, but considering the cost, I felt the menu was slightly overpriced. Despite this, the service was outstanding—absolutely 10/10. While I had a wonderful time, the pricing may not justify frequent visits. Nonetheless, it's a great spot for a special occasion.

The worst ever experience in 40 years: Normal food with no taste Very stupid portion for main meal, it’s not enough for 10 years old child Soooooooooo expensive I think the restaurant owner or manager families wrote the good reviews!!! I don’t believe that anyone will ever come back to this place. We paid $600 for 8 spaghetti kids portion. The photo is for $55 main dish 😡 I want my money back Never again 😡😡😡😡😡
