The Newest Restaurants In Chicago

"As its name suggests, this Old Town spot serves both coffee and wine. Open seven days a week, you can swing by for a latte and a pastry in the morning, and then come back at night for a glass of riesling with a sandwich or some charcuterie." - john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen

This place checks all the boxes: amazing decor, fantastic drinks, and the nicest staff around. Dialtone feels like the kind of spot you want to spend all afternoon in. The vibe is relaxed but polished, with an interior that makes you want to snap a few pics. We had the cold brew and a latte, and both were seriously good—flavorful, balanced, and clearly made with care. I’m already planning my next visit, maybe for their wine selection next time!

Stopped by bc of tik tok. I got the strawberry ube matcha and choco croissant. Matcha was underwhelming you would think it would be very flavorful but just tasted like cereal milk? Croissant was kinda dry. Vibes were good. I liked the space—felt clean and put together. Lots of space to sit and get work done.

Dialtone Coffee & Wine Bar has beautifully designed interior, creating a cozy yet modern ambiance that’s perfect for a coffee break or a relaxed morning. Their pastries are a highlight—fresh and well-executed. The chocolate seuss, chicken sausage croissant, and almond croissant were all delicious, with perfectly flaky layers and balanced flavors. Coffee lovers will also appreciate the quality of their brews, making it a great spot for a caffeine fix. However, there’s room for improvement in a few key areas. Service could be more attentive, as it doesn’t quite match the inviting atmosphere of the space. The use of plastic silverware feels out of place in such a well-designed café—switching to proper cutlery would enhance the overall dining experience. Additionally, while the café offers a couple of sandwiches, the breakfast and brunch menu feels limited, especially for those looking for more savory options. Expanding the selection with a few more dishes would make it a stronger destination for brunch. It would also be great to see classic brunch cocktails like Mimosas or Bellinis added to the menu to elevate the weekend experience. Dialtone has great potential, and with a few adjustments, it could become a go-to spot for both coffee and a well-rounded brunch experience.

Ok how cute is this spot and the food and drinks are next level for a coffee shop! I mean that charcuterie board, sandwiches, peanut butter pie, wow! Loved the vibes too. My new WFH spot!

We’ve been coming to Dialtone since they opened, and it’s consistently a fantastic experience. Whether it’s for coffee and food during the day or wine in the evening, the service is always top-notch and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Highly recommend the Mediterranean salad—it’s absolutely delicious!

Very corporate feeling place, lots of wine options, lattes, and other coffees. It’s inside a weird old-town industrial park. Weird condos, abandoned lots, and trains surround this oddity. I got a cold brew, and the bacon breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. It came with mayo or some”special sauce” aka mayo. The English muffin was nice, but the bacon was definitely a microwave variety. It was a little one note without the English muffin. My partner got a parfait and hot coffee, they were enjoyable. They do not have many juice options, just fancy juices, so it’s not traditionally kid friendly but kids are more than welcomed. The sandwich took like 5 minutes, but it wasn’t a big deal.

Cute new coffee shop. Didn’t try the pastries only pistachio latte. I was under the impression they use actual pistachio butter with pistachio pieces (like in the advertised photos? but it’s literally just one of those artificial syrups so not worth the $7 for sure. Very subpar imo. It’s small so not many tables but cozy! Also no laptops on weekends!

As a student in Chicago, there aren’t enough cafés that are open past 3 PM and have actual comfortable chairs. I’m glad this one does. Hours are great, booths are so comfy, the coffee is not my favorite I’ve ever had but it’s not bad at all. I haven’t tried the pastries yet, but they look delicious, so I’ll be sure to get them next time. The staff is friendly, though a bit slow. Overall, it’s a solid spot!

Yelp
I don't often review coffee shops, but this one really stood out to me. I loved the interior - the green stone on the counters was so pretty. I visited within the first week or two of opening, maybe. Came on Saturday around noon and I waited in line to order for 20-30 minutes honestly, and waited again for our drinks/food for another 15-20 minutes? Unfortunately, there isn't a ton of seating so we also waited at least 20 minutes for a table to leave so we could sit down. Also, they were out of the savory pastry I really wanted to try, it had some sort of pork and cheese. I really loved my pistachio latte, though, and the pastries my friends got were both really good! I would come back for sure to get the pistachio latte again and hopefully try the pastry I wanted to try. I saw this recommended as a good place to do work, and I wouldn't agree with that unless it's significantly less busy on weekdays.

Yelp
It's nice to finally see some non-chain coffee spots pop up in the area. I had an iced vanilla latte and a breakfast sandwich. The vanilla latte was good and the breakfast sandwich was just okay. I don't to think they're made to order (but I might be wrong). The sandwich would have been better if the center wasn't cold. It was a little disappointing, but I would come back for a little drink.

Yelp
A new coffee & wine bar on the Near North Side. The place has a very cool vibe, offering coffee, wines, and Bad Butter pastries. The only con is the line, it took like 15 minutes to place my order but they got the coffee out pretty quickly. I tried the Dark Matter Coffee Donut and Iced Praline Latte. They were both pretty good, but it is a little pricier than other coffee shops. The Dark Matter Coffee Donut was pretty good, definitely unique. It tastes like a wheat donut with sesame and a unique coffee glaze. Overall cool experience but expect to wait a bit right now.

Yelp
I got their mocha strawberry cold brew and liked how it wasn't too sweet- with the mocha flavor was toned down a little but not a big deal. I liked the chicken breakfast sandwich, it had eggs, cheese, sausage and some sort of spicy/tangy sauce that tied everything together. Random note but I love the green table countertops and decor. The only downside is that it gets SUPER crowded on weekends and there's limited seating, so get there early or go with a big group and claim a booth.

Yelp
This new coffee & wine bar below Old Town Park is perfect! It's a super cute interior and the lattes were all amazing. The baristas are very friendly and quick. The chocolate chip cookie with sea salt was incredible - Perfect spot to catch up with friends over coffee or drinks. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Coffee shop with Bad Butter aka Dan the Baker pastries? A dream come true. My baker friend introduced me to Dan the Baker pop-ups so I was very excited to hear he was selling in brick and mortar. The vibe is very cute, I had a very delicious vanilla lavender latte, and loved all my pastries - the kouign amman was heavenly. Baristas were helpful. Would definitely want to come back for wine bar vibes as well!
