"Build-Your-Own-Spice Trio ($36) If you’re gift shopping for someone who only has Everything But The Bagel seasoning and kosher salt in their spice drawer, check out Diaspora Co. The Oakland-based spice shop has a build-your-own trio pack - and you can pick from small jars of cardamom, turmeric, cumin, and more to put in it. They also ship nationwide." - julia chen 1

Diaspora Co. Wants to Change the Way You Think About Spices - AFAR

"Diaspora Co. is a queer-owned, BIPOC-led spice company founded by Sana Javeri Kadri. The company sources 35 single spices and six blends from roughly 200 farm partners and more than 1,500 farmworkers across 10 states in India and Sri Lanka. Diaspora Co. pays farmers an average of four times the commodity price and over three times the Fairtrade price. The company also provides advances on harvests to help farmers pay for operations without loans. In 2021, Diaspora Co. generated over $1 million in revenue for its farm suppliers." - Katherine LaGrave
