Dickey's Barbecue Pit

My family and I ate here for dinner. The staff was not accommodating. The food they served was not as good as before. The southern pulled pork sandwich tasted like plastic and chemicals, it was so bland. We also ordered lemon pepper pit smoked wings. The lemon sauce tasted very artificial and the chicken was so dry. I think there are more better restaurants out there.

Instead of going for the cheap special, I went for the brisket sandwich. As one of the previous posters mentioned I understand fat makes meat delicious but my first and second mouthful - pure fat. I thought it was personal until I read that. Apparently this is the way it’s prepared so once I got to the meat, it was delicious as were the accoutrements. I even stuffed a tip in the jar, despite not being prompted to do so on the credit card payment. Definitely recommend this place but just beware of what you’re going to get. If you order the brisket sandwich, I’m not used to that much fat.

Hard to criticize a chain with so many locations, but I'll do my best. Fat makes meat tasty and juicy. That said, 25% of my brisket sandwich was fat. Everything from the bun to the sauce to the coleslaw was very sweet. Too much so I would say. The online ordering process felt like I was flying Spirit Airlines. Unusually cumbersome and long-winded just to order a sandwich. The staff was pleasant enough and they made the most out of their small retail space. One commendable item was their environmentally friendly packaging. I won't be back.

They promote an $8.99 combo meal, but when I show up, they act completely confused and tell me it’s online ordering only. So I try to order online, standing right there - only customer in the store. Clicking the $8.99 promotional deal gives me a bill of nearly $20! Nothing they can do - either pay $20 for your $8 sandwich, or go somewhere else. Have been dying to try them ever since they opened up, but I guess this is just another blasé location with employees that don’t actually know what they’re doing.

This Dickey’s is located in the Spring Arcade Court in DTLA, which was once upon a time full of arcade games. It’s not a full sized Dickey’s like I’m used to going to. The food 🍱 was good 👍🏾 and the service was good 👍🏾 too. I rate 4 stars because the brisket was a little too fatty for my personal preference.

I need a refund from my order I placed on the website. I received the wrong order twice. Idk what’s going on with the DoorDash drivers not reading the names on the bags but I got the same persons order twice. The second driver was using his girlfriend’s account and was trying to force me to take the order. No one has been answering the phone to refund me my money so I’m leaving a review.

All I got on my brisket was fat. Chicken was dry and tasted odd. Cashier lady was really unfriendly. Not worth the price. Just avoid. It's a shame, Dickey's used to be good.

Ordered a combo plate. The food was decent but no BBQ sauce or cutlery provided. The cashier had an open, partially eaten Mexican food plate next to the cash register.

I had no idea what I was eating for lunch, just started mindless walking and let me legs lead the way; then took a couple of hard/immediate turns as my body just took me someplace and I ended up walking through the arcade to another spot, but skid to a halt at Dickey's and chose to eat here! Small little joint, a couple tables out front (none inside). The staff was very polite and professional. Food came out fairly quickly and I was immediately pleased at which this mostly basic lunch was so purposefully prepared and placed; everything was wrapped or place in pristine condition (especially for what most people would consider fast food). The food was excellent. The cheddar/jalapeño sausage sandwich is dressed very plainly, so when they ask if you want onions and pickles, say yes! They really should go with much sturdier bread as the vessel, but the flavor of the sausage was fantastic; the sandwich just kind of falls apart a little bit because of the bread being pretty soft. Everything was great taste-wise.

Lord have mercy. Okay so the first time I had this place...I vomited on the street on 7th/Spring. Yes. From the food! The second time, tonight, around 8pm I ordered chicken and turkey. The food was made so quickly it was unbelievable. That to me was a red flag. I went home and ate what I ordered. Within 30 mins of finishing I had diarrhea like crazy. Then unbelievable amounts of gas. Like...other BBQ joints do not do this to me! What's unfortunate about this is that I won't come here again. I'm curious about their quality of food now and hope that with many negative reviews something needs to turn around. Hate to leave a negative review but with these two instances(vomiting from the food and now diarrhea) I think it's crystal clear.

i'm not surprised with all of the bad reviews! As I approached the entrance, I noticed a sign promoting a daily special. Curious about the Sunday offer, I inquired with the woman at the register, only to discover that there was no Sunday special available. This felt quite misleading, and it really frustrates me when businesses advertise promotions without ensuring their employees are informed. I decided to order a veggie plate, but instead received a dish with mac and cheese, barbecue beans, and fried okra, along with a small Diet Coke--totaling almost $20. To make matters worse, the woman didn't even return my receipt, which always raises my suspicions. I shouldn't have to ask for something so basic. I could have spent a similar amount at Tender Greens, where I would have enjoyed better service and higher quality food for less. Ultimately, it was a disappointing experience all around.

I ordered a baked potato with chopped brisket but received a mystery meat and a pile of mashed potatoes. Unacceptable. I should've been told you didn't have what I wanted!!!

I received an order through Instacart. It was absolutely horrible. The ribs were undercooked, totally pink. I ordered sliced brisket and it was one big huge piece of fat. Everything was cold. The toast was a little burnt unbelievable.

I ordered directly from the website and the food was delivered by DoorDash. When the food arrived, I met the driver and saw immediately that my drink was wrong. Bu the time I got inside, I noticed that my order was wrong. I received someone else's orderer. I reached out to DoorDash to have it redelivered but again, I received the same persons order. It seems like there's a communication issue with the staff and drivers. How did i end up with the same persons order twice. The second driver tried to convince me to take the incorrect order and I had to encourage to go give that person their food. I called the restaurant multiple times and no one answered. I just want my money back. I will not be ordering from here anymore. I waited hours for nothing.

I had been craving barbecue, and this was near my home, so I decided to give it a try. I really like brisket, so I ordered a brisket sandwich meal. What a mistake! Brisket is generally a bit less than 10% fat, but this sandwich seemed EXTREMELY fatty, so I took it apart when I got home and separated the meat from the fat, and there was actually over 60% fat! Do not waste your money at this place.

We used to order here a lot because we liked the smoked wings. But after ordering and getting regular plain non-smoked wings for the 2nd time in a row, it's a wrap. My bf called to ask them about it and the waitress said that when they run out they just sell regular, plain, flavorless, TOUGH wings. (RATHER THAN CALLING THE CUSTOMER AND LETTING THEM KNOW.) Well..you can't do that! If you have it listed as smoked wings THEN YOU HAVE TO SELL SMOKED WINGS! That's what we paid for, not some extra wings you hadn't smoked yet! :-/ Make it make sense. Anyway, don't go unless you'd want a 50/50 chance of getting actual smoked wings AFTER paying your money.

Order online lady said never recieved order was going. Give me someone else order because she wasn't paying attention. Yelled at me and was rude saying they didn't get my order mind you I still have t gotten a refund. When I asked to talk to the manager she kept yelling at me literally just give me my money and hire a new cashier. Cus sounds like the same lady in the comments. I literally have to email corporate because there customer service line is literally a voicemail . Just shut the downtown location all together

Do not order from here! I called this morning to inquire about a cancelled catering order and the lady that answered was cutting me off telling she didn't know what I was talking about but did not let me explain. When I asked to speak to the manager she hung up on me. I called back and immediately asked for the manager since she didn't know anything about my order and once again she hung up on. She's screaming at me over the phone and constantly cutting me off and when I ask her to let me speak she tells me I need to have respect for her. She never allowed me to explain anything about the catering order they cancelled and refused to let me speak to the manager or get her name.

This place has gone downhill. I got food here years ago and it was better. Side portions are very small, and the green beans are canned, not fresh. The meat doesn't taste smoked at all, it tastes like it was roasted in the oven. The chicken breast is super dry and it wasn't what I was expecting for barbecue chicken. It was dry and salty , it just seems like it was baked uncovered. All of the food is bland and I had to drown it in my own barbecue sauce in order to make it edible. I'm not going to order here again.

The customer service here was terrible, the girl was in a bad mood and threw the bbq sauce in the bag without closing it right and it spilled everywhere.

Not bad at all. I've only tried the brisket sandwich, the pulled pork sandwich, and the turkey sandwich. I would definitely recommend all 3 the best being the brisket sandwich.

Now first leaving a review but ordered from them earlier today don't know if they run out of stuff but it was 12 in the after noon guy just wanted from fried okra and mashy potatoes I'll give yall a second try if I see beans and Mac and cheese s*** still good tho

The Dickeys at the plaza on Spring, the mexican lady refused service just because she thought i had attitude. I even came back another day with a good attitude and she refused service. They are losing out on business because of her.

SCAM ALERT! I've had Dickey's before and they were okay. I saw them online and signed up for their email/text message savings. On New Year's Eve I decided to take them up on it. The text message is below. First, the discount was not allowed on the website stating it was not applicable to my order. Now, I've gotten about 5 different these discounts in as many days. So I figured I'd order and go in and get it rectified in person. These guys were busy that day? So busy in fact that another guy walked in to order and they told him they couldn't accommodate him due to the high volume of online orders...so their advertising was working. When my food was finally ready, I talked to the guy and he said "oh, you have to call this number printed on the carry-out bag and order via phone to get those discounts. Horrible food, I can't believe this place is still opened. Gave me 90% fat on the brisket and all the food tasted old and not seasoned at ALL omg it makes me so mad thinking of it.

Gotta say the ribs were the best Ive had anywhere. But the brisket sandwich not so much. Salty and dry. But the ribs...

First time trying this place. I ordered one meat combo. I got the sliced beef. They literally only gave me two slices. It's the worst barbecue I've ever ate my whole life and to be honest, Los Angeles doesn't have the best variety of barbecue spots but this by far is the worst. I don't know if it's the chain that's the worst or just this particular dickey's, but it was horrible and overpriced.

Emily Lanza was fantastic, I was greeted promptly, given food recommendations and specials. I received my food hot and yummy lol. The cook was also nice and friendly overall great job Dickey's

Came here after seeing that they finally opened one in LA! I ordered to dine in because the scenery at this food hall is awesome and they had my food out in no time like a matter of a couple mins. Brisket was nice and juicy the burnt ends were so good and the Texas toast is a must. I personally like their sweet sauce but they have other options as well. Thanks guys! This is my new go to in the area!

Someone please have a word with the manager of this Dickeys on Spring St. Every time I come here, there's something wrong with my order. Today, it was my drink that was supposed to be unsweetened ice tea, but was sweetened--fine, I'll make some ice tea myself at home. But also, they left off my bbq sauce. How on earth could someone forget to include bbq in an order for bbq?? I just ate my bbq with ketchup. Not great. Also I generally order online and get an email that tells me I can track my order. But it never updates. I just have to guess when my order will be ready. The employees are not rude, but they could definitely use a bit of help with their customer service. To me, all of this falls on the manager of the location. The Captain of this Dickeys ship. Maybe the manager needs a bit of training, so they can properly train their employees as well. It's so great to have a convenient bbq place in dtla. Someone please save this one from embarrassment and failure.

It's a new store here in downtown, Love the taste and people are very nice and hard working. Tyler, the manager was amazing person and nice guy! Giving them 5 star for the manager! :)

Constantly trying to pull a fast one on you. If you pay for something extra they'll try to substitute it with a different item and still charge you extra. Not only that they "forget some items" if you ask for take out. (On a serious note I ordered 4 pecan pies and I got none but was charged 6 times...)

What's with you guys and not getting the baked potato's right? If it's not scoops of mashed it's a day old potato thats inedible. You should take them off your menu. Today I got brisket, butter, sour cream, cheese and green onion. You guys melted cheese, didn't use any butter, put the sour cream on top of the meat. Why would you do that. It was ruined, plus the potato was rock hard.

Was a little skeptical because of some of the reviews, but the BBQ was great! I ordered a XL pack for me and my family and it came with a lot of meat and a whole lot of sides and not to mention TEXAS TOAST! MY FAVORITE. Special thank you to the manager of the store Tyler for helping us with our order and answering the millions of questions we threw his way lol. Overall the restaurant is clean and the outside dining environment is really nice with the lights hanging above especially during night time. Thanks guys!

Lately this place has been a miss- I usually get the chopped brisket but lately there has been so much fatty pieces in the meat I don't like

Horrible service! Waiting 30min for Mac and cheese and fries and we ask what happened with our order and she said she forgot that they didn't have mac and cheese! And didn't even tell us about it or sorry! And we were the only knees in there!

Best BBQ for the price in LA, the other reviews are just whiney Karen's with personal issues.

Walked in this very dim eatery. Soon as I approached the counter the guy said we only have pork ribs and the polish sausage as far as meats. I said ok just give me a side of greens, sorry we're out of those too. I asked why were they even open. He just shrugged his shoulders. Like oh well. I end up walking out. Dickey's has a whole menu of meats and didn't have nothing. I will never return to this location

The worst bbq I ever tasted. Why would y'all put a product out that's this bad??? How do you mess up bbq lol man I love bbq and was so happy to find out we had one near by until I tried it omg I'm sure y'all could do better come on

Customer service was great. Food was the WORST bbq I've ever had. It was dryer than a well done steak and the burnt tips weren't burnt tips more like burnt fat. I would STRONGLY advice to not spend your money here. I would hate for anyone else to receive the same disappointment I have. I'm not exaggerating when I say that your money will be better spent anywhere else than here.

So salty!!!!! First time ordering from here and was disappointed with how much salt I could taste with each bite. The flavor is barley there :(

Very nice and friendly employees , in a convenient location if you live downtown, very cool building as well. Dickey's is solid for some BBQ, wish they had that ice cream machine like other locations.

On 04/13/2023 My guy and I went to this dump! The food pictured in the photo's displayed were far from what we were served! He ordered Pork Rib Plate2XFries, Coleclaw and 1 Gumbo baked potato loaded. Asked that the food be pipping hot! First they bought the food not even luke warm! They took it back and everything was dried out! I have never had a bad baked potato until that day. Dried out and not fully cooked. Small in size and when you pay $35.00 for a baked potato you expect it to be hot & soft, smoking and full of flavor. The shrimp were pre-cooked cocktail shrimp and not even medium in size, sausage was off brand and when I asked what brand it was the cook responded Hillshire Farms. The sausage was dry and tasteless. I said no way is this Hillshire Farms. And if it is suppose to be a gumbo baked potato where is the Andouille Sausage and Real Shrimp and the gumbo flavor. Now to get to the Pork Ribs (DRY LIKE TREE BARK DURING THE DROUGHT IN LOS ANGELES)! He could not eat it it was splinter's like pieces of wood and the mac & cheese was dry like the just poured fake cheese on top! One of the worst wood experiences we have ever had. We got up paid and left everything on the table! Clocked that $89.21 up as a lost. I did call the corporate office of Dickey's the next day and then again and never heard back from them. I just ran across this receipt and it angered me and lead me to write this review! THEY DESERVE a negative 100 starts! -0- stars! only reason they are getting a 1 star is because to post I have to have a star selected :(
