Didi's Frieden

I had heard about Didi’s Frieden for a few years now but I finally had the chance to visit last week for a birthday lunch, and I was incredibly impressed. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and welcoming, with staff offering great wine and dessert recommendations. The schnitzel was hands down the best I’ve ever had and is an absolute must-try. The highlight was the amazing birthday dessert (not pictured) they prepared that was so personalized to the birthday boy. It was easily the most thorough and impressive birthday dessert I’ve seen prepared by a restaurant. We also had the blueberry streusel which was divine!! I’ll definitely be back, maybe even for my own birthday!

Fabulous restaurant with varied menu and very high quality food. The cordon bleu is perhaps one of the best I had in my life and the desserts have seasonal variation and are very exquisite too. Service is absolutely impeccable, subtle and very friendly. Very worth taking a side road from the main roads to discover and experience this hidden gem!

Went here for lunch on a warm day. The patio is shady and separated from the sidewalk by a short wall and plants, so it's quiet and relaxing. I did the guinea fowl breast, aperol spritz, and a Swiss white wine. All very good. Staff was top notch and answered all my questions. Great place for lunch!

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Didi’s Frieden in Zurich close to main train station (Hauptbahnhof). Here’s a review based on your experience: I started with a tuna amuse-bouche that was interesting but didn’t quite awaken the palate as I’d expect. The beef tartare that followed was a bit too strong, with spices overpowering the other flavors. Then came the highlight: delicious mezzalunos—beef sirloin ravioli with a light espuma filling that was truly exceptional. I continued with a cordon bleu and spätzli, which were good but nothing extraordinary. I also had a chocolate cake with mango sauce and pieces of mango as finish; it was interesting, though ultimately quite simple, but at least it was delicious. The service was very friendly and efficient, adding to the experience. The ambiance was nice, with a few lovely decorative touches, though the restaurant was fairly noisy overall.

We went there for our anniversary. The food is really good and since they knew about our anniversary, they prepared a table full of marvellous red roses and they served the desserts in a hand decorated dish, which was an amazing suprise

Everything was beautifully presented and tasty except for the entrees. We had the 4 courses- salad with pumpkin seeds and dressing- fresh and yummy potk belly- fish - bread was good would've been better if served warm and accompanied by butter. Dessert of strawberry tiramisu was really good! Lamb chops were ok - nothing to Yelp about - the schnitzel was disappointing - dry meat- battered and fried- pasta was dry and bland - ... place was crowded.

One of the best and special meals of my life. The food and service were unbelievably unique and wonderful! My birthday surprise was a work of art. Thank you Dominic and Didi!

Excellent service and tasting menu in a delightful setting. Didi's not "free" but you certainly get what you pay for!

We had a wonderful meal here outside as it was a beautiful day. The lobster was delicious and the ravioli was even better. Definitely go for the Panna Cotta The server was also really good too. Would definitely go back to try more. This is a meal on the higher echelon of cost so be prepared. Very attentive and fast service. It's good place for everyone, business, group, date or just friends. Not too fancy but intimate and comfortable. Complimentary bread is forgettable. Amuse Busch on the other hand is good. Schnitzel seems to be THE dish to try at this place. I had a bite and it was tender and good (I don't eat or like pork). Octopus was ok and comes in good portion but I prefer a grilled one. Scallop over shrimp salad (seasonal dish) was not impressive. Overall, I enjoyed dinner here.

It was a perfect night to sit outside the food was outstanding I had-wild salmon 1/2 size and order side veg no problem!!! husband had wiener schnitzel said it was fab waitress was very nice u do not have to spend $$$$ if u order right !!!more then enough food

Was stuck in Zurich thanks to Lufthansa pilot strike. Had a awesome dinner at Didi's. Been here several times, and they are always consistent. Well worth the price!

Overly satisfied: outstanding scallops & calamari, juicy & tender Irish lamb with mashed chickpeas, delicious lavender panna cotta with a chocolate painting decoration you wanna steal the plate so it won't get washed away. (the hand made chocolate painting seems to be a signature thing at this place). Service was friendly hence a really perfect experience. Ein perfekter Abend: von den Jakobsmuscheln mit Calamri über das Lammcarré mit Kichererbsenmus bis zum Lavendel-Panna cotta einfach eine erstklassige Leistung der Küchencrew. Und dann die Zeichnung aus Schokolade auf dem Dessertteller! Eine Giraffe auf dem Glacételler und auf dem Panna cotta Teller ein angesäuselt-fröhlicher Koch der La vita e bella ausruft :) Unvergesslich und sehr liebevoll. Der Service: freundlich & zurückhaltend. Ich bin rundum zufrieden. Vielen Dank!

A great low-key but still white tablecloth/sophisticated restaurant in central Zurich. The menu is always changing and the staff is very friendly. It gets packed so make a reservation or come early (before 6:30pm). There are a few seats at the bar but there are lots of tables filled with mostly an older crowd given the neighborhood. The wine glass chandeliers are an interesting decor tough... From our 2 visits here, it seems they really let you enjoy your meal and take your time. Even when it's packed, they won't hurry you to leave. Also, the amuse bouches are great. We had a curried soup that was really delicious and although I'm not a big fan of cordon bleu, the meat dishes here are very good. Expect Zurich prices but the house beer is tasty and affordable!

If you're looking for amazing Swiss-Austrian cuisine this is your place. A fabulous variety of the best including the famed Schnitzel Wiener Art. The patio makes for great outdoor dining in the summer. The chandeliers inside are also fantastic consisting of 128 wine glasses each. Which brings us to the wine card - gigantic for Zurich with a fabulous selection of Austrian wines. The service is also very attentive and friendly. Not to miss.

Excellentexquisite food. Best place for a special night. Ordered the 4 course dinner special: lobster terrine, quail, lamb, and pina colada granita. Tasty!
