During our trip to Toronto a couple of months ago, we stumbled upon what is hands-down the best Indian food I’ve ever had in Canada — and that’s saying something after trying spots across the country! Dil Se (meaning “from the heart”) truly lives up to its name with authentic North Indian cuisine cooked straight from Chef Mani Panwar’s passion and his mother’s traditional recipes.
We ordered their famous award-winning Chicken Kamasutra — oh my god, that creamy, spiced tomato-based gravy with tender chicken was pure seduction on a plate! The rich orange hue, swirl of cream, fresh parsley, and pops of green/red peppers made it look (and taste) like edible art. We also devoured the Butter Chicken — mild yet deeply flavorful with melt-in-your-mouth chunks — and a smoky Chicken Tikka Masala loaded with charred veggies, onions, ginger slivers, and that irresistible red sauce. Don’t miss the Dal Makhani either; slow-cooked black lentils in a velvety, buttery, garlic-infused heaven, topped with a generous dollop of cream.
Everything arrived in beautiful copper vessels, served piping hot with fluffy garlic naan that was perfect for scooping up every last bit. The portions were generous, flavors bold yet balanced, and the whole meal felt like a warm, homemade hug from India.
Service was welcoming and efficient, the vibe cozy and elegant on Roncesvalles Ave — a gem in a street full of great eats. If you’re in Toronto craving real, soul-satisfying Indian food, make Dil Se your first (and probably only) stop. We’ll be dreaming about that Chicken Kamasutra until we return! Highly recommend — 5 stars aren’t enough. ❤️🍛
