Overall Thoughts: This is a solid dim sum option on the outskirts of Chinatown, about a 20 minute walk from central Chinatown. As such, it’s a lot less crowded than the other dim sum spots in Chicago and was relatively empty when we went on a Sunday. It was also cheaper than other Chicago dim sum spots I’ve been to— it was just under $16 per person + tip for a group of 10. Overall, the food is good and tasty. They have all/most of the classics as well as a few unique items that I haven’t seen at other dim sum spots in Chicago, like the pork floss egg sandwich, which I really liked. Some of the dishes were a little cold though and they also forgot 1-2 of our orders, but it was fine; we were pretty stuffed anyways. Very authentic Cantonese dimsum and cheap meals. If you want the no frills and good food this is the place. Just look around you and you can see these are you aunties and uncles eating here. Not your cool friends from last nights club scene 🤣 You also won’t get the friendly and respectful service from the waitress. They want you to order without any stupid questions, eat fast, leave a decent tip and give the table to the next aunties.

We got a big table very quickly. The chicken dish and the egg custard bun tastes delicious. Really like the stuffing in the egg custard bun. The chicken mushroom soup is amazing

My family loves coming here for dim sum and dinner. This time we went for dinner and enjoyed every dish. Sauteed pork stomach/intestine was so good but be sure to tell them to use less salt. The honey cashew shrimp is like crack -- very sweet and addictive.

Food is good, highly recommend fried sweet dumplings! First time the waitress was nice. Second time the front desk lady was not polite.

Their food was authentic and fantastic!!! Absolutely a hidden gem for Chinese taste buds!!! The price was also cheaper than other dim sum restaurants in Chinatown. When I saw the Cantonese-speaking grandmas and grandpas from the neighborhood eating there I knew that I could get quality authentic food there! Every single dish we ordered was great and all my kids loved them too. We all feel that we will regularly visit Dim Dim in the future.

Seating:4 Service:5 Food: 5 Price: $ Great delicious food at very reasonable price. This is like the kitchen of our entire family and extended family. We visit here every week. They have so many good dishes. You can order the popular dim sum during brunch hours. Parking is convenient, there are spaces in front of this strip mall. Favorites: Free range chicken - best in the area. Fried Beef Short Ribs - best in the area. Dim Dim special stir fry - chives, anchovies, dried squid, topped with peanut Clam in black beans sauce, Pea sprout with fried egg tofu Honey walnut shrimp - my favorite The large oysters are about $4 each. Tip: call to order from them directly and pick up yourself if you can speak Chinese. It's cheaper to get from them directly than through a third party.

If you like cheap excellent Chinese food and or Dim Sum. This is the place. Glad I found it. Great food. Excellent prices and you will find surrounded by neighborhood customers.

It's a hidden traditional Cantonese dim sum place. Food: the food is as tasty as it supposed to be to be or even more flavor than the new dim sum places. Service: the unties are very friendly, no matter how many times you ask them for help. Ambiance: it's not like the fancy dim sum places, but have to say match the price, and I really enjoy the no line no waiting with similar ore even better taste while Chinatown is super busy.

The food at Dim Dim is fine, it's decent price compared to other dim sum spots downtown. The service though is nothing to rave about. Service is not what you come here for. Not speaking Chinese also makes it very hard since they don't speak English very well. The ambiance is really loud and busy in the morning.

Service was poor, I was kind of ignored but eventually got my order and food, and instead of waiting longer for the check, I went up to the counter to pay. The Lily flower, black fungus, chicken dish I got for dinner was veeery mild in flavor aside from ginger, and majority of the chicken was bones, particularly tiny ribs and vertebrae. Bone-in meat is very tender and juicy and flavorful, but these itty bitty bits were annoying. The waitress brought hot tea which was so smooth and this was the best part of the meal. I bought two filled buns from the bakery to snack on later, toasted coconut and red bean, and these were DELICIOUS!! Despite this experience, I'd come back to try their lunch dim sum.

This is my favorite place in Chicago Chinatown. Many of the reviews complain about the woman manning the cash register as being mean and rude. It's true, she is, but that's the price for getting very good Cantonese cuisine, at a very low menu price. Just suck it up and don't take her rudeness personally.

The people answering the phone don't understand English very well so you have to say it over and over again and then you're still not sure if they will get it right. And when the order is wrong they just say sorry but don't offer to do anything else to make up for it. There is a lady who works there who is just mean. Not a very good place to go to.

I stay in a hotel without a kitchenette working one week a month in rural Illinois and pass by Chinatown on my way from O'Hare so I stock up on food here. The cooking in this hole in the wall place is only so so but it is easy on and off the Dan Ryan. Some of my favorites to take with me are beef brisket stew, soy sauce chow mein, chicken with green onion which all travel well. Lobster lo mein is on special but I don't trust seafood after a 2 hour drive. If you are an aficionado of sinewy, chewy texture, the spicy chicken feet in the refrigerated case by the cash register are not to be missed. There is a small section of baked goods but they are often pretty much picked over by the time I get there in the mid afternoon. Dim sum is served until 3 pm everyday.

Omg....talking about customer service, I have not experience such a bad kind of customer service ever yet, but that cashier lady with red hair, so rude and unprofessional. I gave her my credit card, she toss that and the receipt back at me, her whole demeanor is very bad. Fortunately, their food and price are very good and reasonable, otherwise there is no way I will like to she her at all.

Hidden gem! Love their lobster noodles and dim sum for lunch. They also have a big selection of baked goods when you first walk in the restaurant - I highly recommend their paper wrapped cake and sesame ball with red bean paste

I don't consider myself a foodie by any stretch. I know the dishes I like and I tend to stick with them I unless I am feeling adventurous. Such is the case for Chinese cuisine. I love chicken fried rice. Been eating it for years... This place has the most albino fried rice I've ever seen (that includes out of the country places) with peas and carrots (what!?). Zero taste. I mean it tasted like white rice cooked in egg water with peas and carrots. I say cooked in egg water because there was the barest hint of eggs taste to it. The chicken was ok as long as I didn't bite down on a piece that had fat or what I'm guessing was cartilage hanging off the end. I asked for almond cookies. The lady taking my order looked at me like she's never heard of them. I repeated it to the same results so I politely said that's it for my order, thinking maybe almond cookies isn't a thing at all Chinese restaurants. I turn to my right to sit and wait for my food and what is sitting on the shelf in a plastic container with sliced almonds on top. If you guessed almond cookies you win the prize (did I mention this place is a "bakery" too). I got my food and left. I won't be back.

Dim Sum food was good; food came out hot and fresh from the kitchen. My complaint is the bad service from the short red hair waitress who is also often at the front register. Her service and attitude need to improve. She is driving away customers!

Dim Dim is one of my favorite dim sum spots in Chicago because it's authentic, cheap, and convenient. For comparison, crepes here are ~$3, while they're ~$5 at MingHin and ~$4 at Phoenix. I ordered BBQ pork buns, egg yolk custard buns, chicken feet, turnip cakes, pan fried pork and vegetable bun, sesame balls, shrimp dumplings, and beef rice crepes (in order in the picture from left to right, top to bottom). We also ordered Hong Kong Style Milk Tea which was only $2!! It wasn't the best milk tea I've had, but it was definitely worth the $2. My favorites were the beef rice crepes and the egg yolk custard bun. The crepes come with delicious sauce. Some restaurants don't get the sauce right, but Dim Dim does!! I also liked how the turnip cakes had chunks of turnip inside! You can also buy bakery items and frozen dim sum to go too! There's parking right outside (although limited) so that's another plus. In terms of dine-in (pre-COVID), it's a pretty small and cozy restaurant. It's obviously not as nice or fancy as somewhere like MingHin, but I don't mind! The food is good and cheap, and that's what matters to me

The convenience factor plays a major role for my frequent visits. My usual go-to orders for a quick and easy lunch are: 1) A pack of frozen siu mai for $11. The siu mai texture strays a bit from the traditional type and is more similar to the steamed beef balls that you would have at dim sum. 2) A pack of frozen har gao for $11.50. 3) Hong Kong style milk tea. 4) Steamed glutinous rice with chicken for +$3. With the ongoing pandemic, they have made a few changes to their operations. Their staff are masked and wearing gloves. Their bakery items are individually packed so customers do not have to worry about others touching the items.

The service, the food, the best rice noodles and their flexibility to sit 25ppl for dim sum without reservations was amazing. We been here 3x this week and every time the food is amazing. Highly recommend the platters on the menu like the stir fried fish with bitter veggies, delicious. The rice noodles were so silky, better than what i had in Chinatown in NYC.

Horrible service. The cashier there should be fired! Rude is too kind of a word for this lady. She deliberately makes who she chooses to wait for service. She charged me for using my credit card to pay. Told me I would have to pay the percentage for using. No where does it say they charge for using credit cards. This place could be such a success without her there. Customers put up with her because they like the easy access, available parking, and the food because it's priced to sell. As soon as you walk in, you can identify this rude person being described.

Dim Dim is my go-to place for comfort food. I've never sat down at the restaurant to eat and maybe some day I will, but for now I'm sticking with my carry out routine: beef brisket noodle soup with flat rice noodles, and an iced milk tea. Sometimes they'll have buns/egg tarts that haven't been completely picked over by hungry customers who came earlier in the day. I love this place because it feels like Hong Kong. My parents are both native Cantonese speakers and I grew up speaking it until starting school. I've lost most of my ability to have a fluid conversation and my struggle is obvious. I'll try to find synonyms for words in order to form basic phrases. If all else fails, I just use nouns. Despite my linguistic handicap... I can still order my favorite dishes (which is KEY) and have kindergarten-level conservations with my grandma. I'll usually call Dim Dim after work to place my order over the phone: "Dohng lai cha. Ngao lam tong fun. Oi mai." Iced milk tea. Brisket noodle soup. Carry out. Once I arrive, it's like being transported to an authentic slice of Hong Kong. The contrast is real: A) I can hear snippets of Canto illuminated all around me. I comprehend most of the banter and feel proud I can eavesdrop, even though I'd never be able to fully participate myself. The contrast is real: B) I end the work day which had been full of cordial emails and using inside voices... and am met with the lady cashier loudly joking with the man in front of me to speak more clearly, "you poor thing, people can barely understand you!" Teasing is a rite of passage and reserved for regulars and friends. The contrast is real: C) I get into a contest with tongs to grab the few remaining pineapple sweet top buns (they're really good). I keep a pep in my step to match the energy and efficiency of the lady in charge. Get in, pay, get out. TL;DR I love stopping in and picking up food here. It's affordable (a tub of noodles is $8 and lasts 2-3 servings). It's right off the highway with free parking spots in front, and you'll get heart-warming authentic Cantonese food.

My parents love this place for breakfast and lunch, and they've been coming on a weekly basis. They find this place convenient with ample parking that's free and serves everything from dim sum to pastries to actual plates of lunch/dinners. I personally think their dim sum is just okay, I've had better shrimp crepes, turnip cakes and chicken feet for dim sum in Chinatown. I usually go to Imperial Restaurant, Minghin or Phoenix for dim sum. I do have to say their salted fish fried rice with chicken is delicious, and that'd be my go to dish if I come back. The service is not bad when you're dining in. I remember calling in an order for my parents and grandparents at one point, and they didn't really have any manners -- they answer the phone in Cantonese asking me what I want and if that's all. Don't expect red carpet service, but your order will be accurate and they are efficient. I'd say come check this place out at least once and see what you think, it is a one stop shop with their selection, and it could be a hit or miss depending on the person and their taste buds. It's not bad but it's also not great in my opinion. I'm just a critic when it comes to authentic Chinese food. I've been spoiled by my dad being a chef and my family exposing me to great eats growing up.

Yes I when to Dim Dim last Sunday with my mom she was there a week a go with her Boss and Co workers. She live it so much she ask me to take her again .. she surprised me by taking these pictures . We enjoyed very much. Please go and try it You will like it very much .

This review is for the lady who worked front desk/cashier at 930 am Sunday, 4/9/23. Rude, not friendly service, in fact non existent service. Walking in and grab bakery, brought up to cashier to pay, who never greeted us for quite a while answering incoming phone calls and grabbing carry out orders. We had to ask for her assistance multiple time before she even looked our way. Worst impression a cashier/front counter person and business could give a customer.

I can't comment on anything here other than the food since it was ordered and picked up by someone else. However, other factors like excellent service would not be enough to make the food here worth ordering. We had a pretty standard assortment of dishes to try: har gow, siu mai, shrimp cheung fun, beef cheung fun, cha shu bao, spare ribs, water chestnut cake. Of this list, only the siu mai was actually good (hence 2 stars instead of 1). The spare ribs were okay; they tasted pretty much as expected. Every other dish, however, were terrible. The rice crepes were the worst offenders; the rice noodle layer was too thick and actually hard/brittle at parts (this issue was also apparent on the ha gao). The shrimp in all the dishes tasted off with the ones in the rice crepes in particular being so overcooked that they were rubbery as well. The cha shu bao was not as bad, but still one of my least favorites I've had. Not much for me to say on the water chestnut cake since I normally don't like those anyways. With all the other dim sum options around Chinatown, there's really not much reason to order from here.

Special unique dim sum restaurant at side of Chinatown. They provide handmade dim sums, even though they don't offer as many as Minghin, quilts is good as them. To me Dim Dim is like a neighborhood papa mama's shop.

One of my go-to dim sum places to go with my mom. They don't have the biggest selection but they have parking in the lot in front and neighborhood parking and a lot of Cantonese dishes that I love. I like that they offer Korean short ribs for dim sum. I love that flavor and it's nice to not have to venture far to get it. I can go in and get a few Asian bakery goods or sit down and get a cheap meal. It's close to an Asian grocery store so you get some groceries after you eat. It's situated in a good place. Sometimes they have off days so I'm in between giving this place a 3 or 4. Even though, they are one of my go-to places, I gave them a 3 because I think the dining area could be better set up to accommodate people and the bathrooms could be cleaner.

My last review was only 2 stars, which was for dining in. This is a positive review for the frozen dim sum to take home for my late night snack cravings. I purchased the following: - Shrimp Dumplings (har gow) - 15 pieces for $10 - Spinach Dumplings (pretty much a shrimp dumpling with spinach-based wrapper) - 12 pc for $9 - Shrimp Won-Tons - 15 pc for $8 - Siu-mai (mix of shrimp and pork - but with no fish roe on top) - 15 pc for $10 - Chiu-Chow dumpling (least favorite - not recommended) - 12 for $10 - Mantou (plain bun) - 6 for $5 At first, I was a little sticker shocked that I paid $60 for frozen dim-sum, but this isn't chemical or preservatives filled frozen food found at the grocery store frozen aisle. I steamed everything for 10 min (15 min for siu mai because it's a dense thick meat filling) and it turned out quite good! The ingredients were generous and the dumplings and buns were well made. Of course these frozen dim sums are not as good as the freshly made ones at dim-sum restaurants, but still way better than any factory made frozen dumplings sold in grocery stores. I wish they offered more varieties of frozen dim sum items for me to try!

the service is very, very, very extremely bad. the worst restaurant in Chinatown. Especially the waitress with glasses at the casher, she is so rude and disrespectful highly do not recommend

A hidden gem, Google terms this as a low key dim sum joint but hardly! We went on Saturday about 12:30ish PM and the place was packed. We thankfully did manage a table. A little while later I did realize why it maybe be called low key - the whole while we were there, we saw only Chinese people visiting this place, seems like this place is not very well known outside the Chinese community for some reason but it is honestly very surprising. Their dim sums are top notch and the price point is considerably lower than other dim sum places. For items where we spent about $40 (minus tip), we spent only $33 including the tip! Plus, this place also have a bakery front which is very popular - people poured in to take bakery take outs the whole time. Another reason could be this is quite outside Chinatown and right beside the highway, pretty easy to miss. But one big plus - it is inside a shopping square and you get free parking, truly a lifesaver when you are wanting to dine out on the weekends at peak hours. Another plus - complimentary tea! My only pet peeve with this place and the reason for 1 less star was that the service was very slow. We had to make an effort to get their attention and the reason is that the same servers were managing the bakery shop and the orders and at a busy hour they looked under staffed. I have become picky on time since I have become a mom - with an infant, every minute is precious. For folks who have time on their hands, you should be fine. Anyway, it doesn't matter much because the food is very good. We got the below and everything was very good - feel free to get any of them and you will surely enjoy! Just came from standing outside for 20 min in this inclement weather while workers are watching us freeze outside. Signage says open at 730 am so we waited till 7:45 before finally giving up. Come on, do better. Even if your not ready to seat us, at least let us wait inside. Way to treat your returning customers.

Very happy with the dinner tonight. Everything is cooked to perfection. Walnut shrimp has been my favorite dish. I just had the same dish at a Japanese restaurant serving 4 pieces of shrimp at the same price, here you have a whole dish!!! The bbq beef short rib is my all time favorite dish. I have been disappointed at many places, but the taste here is very good!! Chicken is great too.. just the right amount of flavor. And the price here is very reasonable. I often bump into friends here every time I vpeople do know how to spot good restaurants in the area.

Went here last week and ordered a rice box and two bbq pork buns. Got in my car when I realized my total bill was $17+. Went back in to confirm they didn't overcharge me. $12.95 for a rice box!!! That's crazy!!! They say food costs went up but damn, that's just price gouging. I can get the same rice box at Gourmet Food for $8.45. Sorry Dim Dim, but your food isn't $4.50 tastier!!!

Shared parking at this strip mall where I guess there's high turnover. We were able to find a open spot as well pulled in at the northern end of the parking lot. So convenient in the sense of walk in dining and Dim Dim generally won't have a line. I'd say average dim sum. No bad items, but in the end we were paying close to $45 including tip for 9 items. (their SS on the menu was $3.09 and ranges up to $4.39 for L). Would note that what is described as pan-fried lotus-root cake (M $4.09) had more of a siu mai filling with corn. I think there must have been a substitution here or a complete mislabeling on the menu. Here's what else we tried that we were happy with: - Walnut Bun (S) - Siu Mai (M) - Spinach Shrimp Dumpling (L) - sub this in, if you usually get Shrimp Dumplings - Veggie Rice Crepe (changfun) - (SS) - Sweet potato frycakes (M) - Black sesame cake (S) Bill turned out to be $45 with tax and tip. Seems a little high to me to be considered a $ restaurant. We're modest eaters and took home only a walnut bun, a black sesame cake, and a sweet potato cake. So if you wanted to price what we dined in, it'd be closer to $40. Being a no frills place, we weren't offered an option for kind of tea and water was brought for my daughter in a styrofoam cup with plastic lid and straw, rather than just a cup (she's old enough at 9). But I'd bump them up a star from 3 to 4 given that they do have lo mai gai and and zong zi to pickup to go along with frozen dim sum to go. There are also bakery items too - but they were somewhat picked over by the time we were leaving. There is a grocery store at the south end of the plaza past Furama where you can make another stop to squeeze some additional value out of your hard earned parking spot.

I am very sorry, but I will not be coming back to this place again. Though a few of the dishes were okay, but majority had a overpowering sensation of oil and salt that it was difficult to consume our meal. We ordered 8 dishes for 5 people which we knew was plenty, but we wanted to try a variety of foods. The place is relatively cheap so perhaps there is a correlation between the price and the quality of foods. Here is what we ordered. I do apologize if the names were not fully correct. 1. Marinated Whole Cold Chicken - Gelatinous, Tough meat and quite salty from the soy that it was served in. The plating was also quite messy, but I guess you can't expect much from a Chinese stir fry place. 2. Salt and Pepper Tofu Circles - Light flavors of Salt and Pepper with Jalapeno and lightly fried to perfection where the tofu was so soft inside. 3. Whole Lobster with Scallions - pretty standard 4. Bitter Melon with Sliced Fish - A-OK 5. Kung Pao Chicken - A very interesting take as the sauce was not like any other KP sauce I have ever tried before and beware, there are bones. 6. E- Noodle - A little too sauce and wet where the red onions overpowered the dish. 7 and 8. Two veggie dishes that were too salty. I was hoping to enjoy this place and we probably should have tried the dim sum as it is called DIM DIM. Though it is quite out of the way and the experience left much to be desired. Grade: E

I came to here fro dim sum since all other places inside Chinatown were really crowded. Unlike the old school style dim sum place, you will not see ppl push cars with dim sum around. You will just order the dish you like from the menu. We had ordere some classic dim sum plate as shrimp dumpling, chicken feet, and chicken sticky rice etc. most dim sum taste pretty average to me. But the good part is the price is very fair. We came here early so the service was good. I personally think this is a not bad place for dim sum if you don't want to pay more and wait long.

After snacking at Saint Anns Bakery took a walk for 10 mins to other side of wentworth to try " New Furama" but unfortunately the place is closed for a private event hence ended up at this place and it was an average experience.They were not serving dim sum at that time. Ordered shrimp Fried rice and Mongolian sauce with chicken. Fried rice has lot of shrimp no veggies and taste was ok. Same goes with chicken We gave the leftover to homeless on way back as the portions were huge. Pros: ------ Spacious Decent Prices Quick Service Free Parking 2 other Restaurants next to it 2 min walk to Red Line Desserts n Snacks available Frozen Shui Mai n Dumplings were available for take home Cons: -------- Food Can be better. Restrooms were stinky It was a pretty average experience.Try the other options and give your review.

It was first time here and it was a great experience with many different foods i have never had before. The service quick and everyone was very nice. The dumplings were really good and love the texture and variety. My favorite was the bbq dumplings and shrimp dumplings. Combined with the sauce it was a great treat. I will definitely return, the price was really good even after all the food we ordered i didnt feel like a broke the bank.

The rice is pretty normal as you can see. Though it's really nothing special, yet a good option for those who want quick delivery

Food is GARBAGE!!! Ordered a fish with veg, it looks and tastes like they just boil and served. They didn't even stir fry it at all. Chicago has the worst Chinese food. They get all the reject chefs. Dim dim definitely got a reject in the kitchen. Even the crazy lady who wears glasses and inch age of the register is a reject, her customer service skills are retarded. Buy at own risk

Their dim sum are ok, but they need to be more organize with carryout orders. I don't comfortable since they kept opening the containers.

It might not look like much, but the food is really fantastic. I went with friends we had some Dim Sum as appetizers which they do work well as. I enjoyed the pork bun. I've never had a bad one. But these little meatballs were amazing. We has a chicken fried rice to split which was incredible. It wasn't greasy. It was more like the light fried rice I used to get when I lived in San Francisco. We also split some eggplant and pork, it was very good sort of garlicky and a hint of sweetness. I ordered a brisket with yellow noodles. They're crunchy but get soft in the sauce so there are a lot of textures. They have items you could do for dessert but the portions are ample.

Never again. The WORST service ever. Our waitress was no where to be found so we had to get other waitresses' attention to assist us and they were so rude about it in helping us. The only thing good about this place is how quickly the food came out. As soon as we ordered, our food came out immediately and they were still hot. The egg custard bun was not hot drippy like it should be. Cai's were way better. The shrimp crepe was actually the best I had in awhile. They don't skip out on the shrimps and they were jumbo even in the shrimp egg rolls. The congee with minced beef and preserved egg was the most plainest congee I've ever tasted... HK Style Milk tea was pretty good and they only thing I would ever come back for. So if your looking for a quick bite with really bad service, go right ahead.

Food: 5 stars Service: 0 stars (good luck if you don't speak Chinese) Cleanliness: 2 stars (dirty spoons, skip the bathroom) Price: 5 stars I can see that most people would interpret the Chinese abruptness as rude. For me, I see past that and go for the quality of food. This place is super busy on the weekends so each dim sum is freshly made. The rice crepe rolls are soooooo gooooood. I usually get the crepe with spare ribs. I can eat that all day. And we stuffed ourselves for $30 for two with leftovers. Can't beat that.

Food: 3.5 Service: 5 Cleanliness: 2 After coming here many times, I've got to witness great service and friendly faces from the workers here. Maybe it's because my grandma is a hardcore regular and fan of their broiled chicken, but I've got to try plenty of their entree's and they stay pretty consistent. My all time favorite will always be the Salt & Pepper Tofu. Perfectly crisped and flavorful. The food generally is good, requested always to be made less salty and oily (per my mom's instructions), but they could use a little pick me up when it comes to the cleanliness of the place. Update on parking: Need to get a validation now placed in your car.

I've been here a million times over the years and I think it deserves a fair review. It is off the beaten path of Chinatown, so you have to go way down Wentworth past all the touristy places and find the parking in the crowded lot that is bordered by the towing Nazis of Furama. Don't double park on the sidewalk either or you'll get a parking ticket. The food here is consistent and mostly good. Service is typical of Chinatown. You have to ask for everything or you will get nothing. The servers will appear expressionless ,but they are nice if you get to know that's just the way they are. Upon entering, you will see many freshly baked goods on your right in a case for ala carte purchasing as well as some frozen bao, dim sum, etc. There is a dining room that isn't the cleanest, but that's where you will have to eat if you choose to dine in. I highly recommend the wonton dumpling soup, the CHICKEN WINGS are OMG, and the dim sum is all at least 4 stars. This place is an unsung hero of Chinatown. I think because of its location, it gets overlooked. Try it.

Great food and reasonably priced! I've been here for dinner many of times and have enjoyed quite a big selection of their menu items. My kids and i like the beef with the flat wide noodles. The spicy fried tofu (Japanese style) is the best in town. The wonton soup and sticky rice are a must try too. They do have a small bakery at the front of the restaurant with a small selection of pastries.

A small restaurant tucked under a highway in a small strip mall with very limited parking. Seating is limited so get there early! My family and I decided to take a trip to Chicago and this restaurant was recommend by a family friend. We walked in and was seated right away, they had a small array of different buns and breads you could purchase on display. About 10 mins later, this place was packed! And a line was staring to form. We had ordered a little bit of everything from porridge to chicken feet ( "best chicken feet I ever had " - my brother ) . I tend to stay away from that.. anyway, everything was really good and came out fresh. We didn't realize how much food we had ordered until we were about done eating and more food was coming out. Lol. Service was good and food was pretty good as well. Will be back next time I'm in Chicago.

This is a REALLLLY good option for dim sum if you don't want to deal with the main Chinatown weekend rush. There are both parking lot spaces and street parking options too. The food quality is pretty comparable to mainstays like Cai, and it comes out fast! The service is pretty typical of a Chinese restaurant but I was peeved because they gave a table to a party of the same size that arrived after me. It wasn't the biggest deal but that was a mistake on their part that was avoidable. So I guess just be wary and proactive in reminding them things like that so you don't get overlooked!!

Dim Dim was highly recommended to me, and it did not disappoint. The orders came out as they were prepared, so all the dishes were freshly prepared as they were brought to our table. The price point was also quite reasonable. The shrimp crepe was so-so. Pretty basic rice flour crepe wrapping some cooked shrimp over soy sauce - I would probably pass on getting this again. The Shrimp Spinach Dumpling was juicy and stuffed full of shrimp. Pretty similar to Har Gao, with the exception of the shape and color. The Pork Bean Curd Skin Wrap is essentially a dumpling wrapped in a thin layer of tofu. The filling was juicy and flavorful, and this was one of my favorite dishes here. The Deep Fried Taro Puff was one of the highlights - the soft Taro insider melts in your mouth and packs a rich, savory flavor. This dish is quite filling, so if end up taking some home, pop it in the toaster oven to crisp up the exterior. The Black Sesame Cake was a bit gummy and did not pack much flavor. I wanted to try this dish, having never tried it before, but once is enough for me. Turnip Cake with XO sauce - the turnip cake was clearly made in advance but unfortunately wasn't reheated all the way. It would've been better had it been piping hot, but I did enjoy the XO sauce, which added a nice kick. The Bitter Melon with Fish Filet was savory and well seasoned. The black bean sauce kept me coming back for more. The Fried Egg Tofu with Spiced Salt - I liked this dish a lot more than I expected. Rings of tofu are battered in egg and lightly fried and salted. The texture and flavor of this dish are what stood out to me, and I would happily eat this again. The Stir Fried Flat Noodle with Beef was good, but not great. The noodles were considerably thinner than the beef chow fun I've had elsewhere, and the beef was a bit chewy. This seemed to be a popular dish to order. Beef Cilantro Soup - to me, this was a variation of egg drop soup with egg whites, beef, sprigs of cilantro, and lot of corn starch.

My mama told me about a place with good Chinese food around Chinatown, without long lines, laid back atmosphere, cheap prices, AND available parking. I told her to get real. But, she brought me to Dim Dim and showed that I still have a lot to learn. Dim Dim really is not a fancy place. Generic decor all around, however everything else is done pretty well. We got the salt and pepper shrimp, sauteed pea shoots, and garlic fried beef ribs which were all great. You can find the first 2 dishes at any Chinese restaurant but the fried beef ribs were unique to Dim Dim and they were tasty. The portions are a bit smaller with cheaper prices, so you can try more dishes if you want. Dim Dim is a nice low key place and I unconditional trust my mama on her Chinese food taste.

Picked up a beef crepe with egg tart. Good size portions and taste. Cost was average. Very good for breakfast made with fresh ingredients.

This restaurant/bakery is very close to my house been to this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food and price isn't that bad. The size of the dish is reasonable. Sometime there are special on lobster which is a plus! I would recommend my friend and family to come to this place.

I love the shui mai, ha gow, steamed bbq pork buns and tofu lettuce chearng fun. My wife usually orders a veggie dish, salt n pepper egg tofu and sometimes a sweet pork chop dish. Same servers since they open and they know is by our faces.

This is one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants around. The food was great and the service was extremely fast. The size of each dish was slightly on the large side, so it is advised to order fewer dishes. Their Free-Range chicken with onion and ginger was beautiful in appearance and had a good flavor. Furthermore, they provided free soup and tea at the beginning of the meal. As other reviews have stated, however, there are a few dishes that were slightly heavy on oil, but it's not overwhelming. One downside would be that the restaurant appearance is not very clean or tidy. Despite this, having been to countless Chinese restaurants, I personally think this restaurant offers some of the best food around. I highly recommend this restaurant.
