Dim Sum Palace

I was craving Cantonese food so I revisited the same brand in a different location. However, it was somewhat disappointing. The skin of the soup dumplings was too thick and hard, and barely any soup in it. The spicy wonton was not spicy at all and almost all of them were broken. The whole plate looked like a mess. I didn’t like the taste too it, either. It was bland and boring. The shrimp dumplings, shumai, and the sticky rice with chicken were nice but nothing special to it. I still prefer the one lactated in K-town. Would not recommend.

Too expensive for the portion and taste. It or miss on the dishes we ordered. Ambiance (4/5): We arrived at 11:20am on a rainy Saturday and we were seated immediately. The establishment is fairly small with only a few tables. Not sure if there’s an upstairs for additional dining. Service (4/5): The service is decent as they checked in on us and the food was prepared and delivered fairly quickly. You order by marking their paper menu with the number of items you want. There are no rolling carts to choose from. Food (3/5): Only half of their food was good. The price to the extremely small portions ultimately decreased my overall score. Several dishes would be a fraction of the price in Queens. The food bits were of lower quality (more tendons than meat, tough to chew, soup buns may have been frozen). We ordered 5 dishes for 2 people and were still hungry; the bill was approx $55 before tax. $8 for a pot of tea?! From best to worst: Roast pork rice roll - there was a healthy helping of roast pork in the rolls. The flavor was there and the meat was not dry. Chicken Feet - the taste was spot on. There’s some peanuts used as filler to the dish! Pork Soup dumpling - this was tasty but far from the best I’ve had. The broth was decent but the inside meat was congealed indicating that the meat could have been frozen but I’m not 100% certain Chive pork dumpling - I liked it but it was biting to write home about. It could have used some more seasonings Spare rib - this was practically inedible as the pieces were mostly tendons and impossible to chew. There taro chunks used as filler as well.

There is a wide offering of dim sum. The shrimp dumplings and the shumai were ok. The chicken with cashew was a decent portion but did not come with rice. It’s uncommon for an entree at a Chinese restaurant not to have rice with the order. The rice also came much later than the rest of the order. But what was disappointing was the service; the server was a bit surly and seemed she didn’t even want to be there.

Would recommend the fried turnip cakes with shredded duck. Wouldn’t recommend coming here for dim sum if you’re looking to get an authentic dim sum fix.

Went here on a weekday evening without reservation and got a table right away. Service is quick and food is delicious, can highly recommend General Tso’s chicken and the palace dimsum platter if you are in the mood to try out a little bit of everything.

OK...so right off the bat, the General Tso is the best I've had. The servers were pleasant and courteous. The space is a bit on the smaller side with limited seating.

I visited this restaurant without reservation. Fortunately they had a table available. I starten with two portions dimsums: Sticky Rice w. Pork Wrapped in Lotus Leaf and Shu Mai. The Hong Kong style pan-fried steak is a interesting fusion of Cantonese and American cuisine.

Food was ok. I had juicy pork dumplings it was 7/10. And taco pork dumplings wad very bad. DD dumplings on 42st is much better.

I was craving for porridge and I got the seafood porridge and pork and 1000 year egg porridge and I was happy. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. I'd recommend this spot. There was no cart. We got 9-10 items and it was $70 before tip.

I thought the Dim Sum here was excellent! We had a scallion pancake, the steam shrimp dim sum, and chives cheng fen which was delicious. The cheng fen was the highlight and incredibly authentic- similar to what I've had in China before. We also had the green tea with black bean dumplings for dessert. I would say Dim Sum of true high quality. We were a little bit thrown off though by one of their steam chicken dishes that came out. We had informed a waiter of our eating restrictions in advance and we noticed there was a piece of a different meat in the chicken and when we tried to confirm whether if it was a different, he said it was still chicken, but the meat looked red and we don't think it was chicken. The dish was also a bit off in taste. Would highly recommend this place for Dim Sum though!

Must say that I was skeptical of a "dim sum a la carte" restaurant in midtown. My work buddy and I finally ventured into it and I must say I was pretty pleased. Every dim sum item we ordered looked and tasted like establishments in Flushing and Bklyn. Very legit. The only items we ordered that were out of the ordinary (as for dim sum goes) were the crab meat soup dumplings and "spicy wontons". I was OK with the spicy wontons. They use what seem like home made wontons and not what I call "commercial" wontons... like what they give you at take out Chinese joints. The soup dumplings were not good. If you have ever been to a Shanghainese restaurant... please do not order the soup dumplings here. Very disappointing. Perhaps that's what we got for ordering a Shanghainese dish at a Cantonese spot, lol! Our servers were very pleasant and attentive. The place seemed pretty small (unless they have more seating up stairs?)

Was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and great service at this dim sum house. I'm always a little leery of uncrowded Chinese restaurants but decided to give this a try and am so happy i did. The restaurant is quite spacious with several floors so doesn't seem crowded. Decided on trying some standard dishes plus the roasted duck and turnip cake. It was my favorite by far but other dishes were good as well. Would have loved to try the dessert dishes but too full.

The food is amazing and it comes out very quick. I've only done the dim sum menu but they have the best buns and dumplings I've tasted in the East valley.

Would you have Dim sum 3-5 pm on a weekday in New York City? Wife and I came here 4pm on Tuesday for our last dinner in New York City on this trip. $8.95 scallion pancake hot and crisp out of the oven, but not much flavor compared to seafood pancakes that I've had elsewhere. $7.95 shrimp dumplings(4) -dough very sticky, with dumpling falling apart when picked up the serving container. Shrimp inside tasted good, with minimum filler. $11.95 Shanghai Juicy Pork Bun(6) soup piping hot and tasty, with flavorful pork inside. Showed my wife how to punch a hole in the bun, letting the soup flow into the soup spoon, while holding up the bun with chopsticks. $7.50 Shu Mai Shrimp & Pork(4) my favorite here firm with solid shrimp flavor. They didn't skimp on the shrimp. $7.95 sticky rice with pork dry shrimp & scallop wrapped in lotus leaf(2). Could only taste the pork, but it went well with the sticky rice. Some of the pork was pork sausage cut into bits, with the other pork shredded in the tasty rice. $7.50 vegetable spring roll(3). overpriced for three vegetable rolls, which were deep fried, despite the picture showing steamed. Next time will have to try the BBQ pork buns, won ton with shrimp and pork, steamed spare ribs in olive sauce, seafood shu mai, and crispy garlic spare ribs. Toward the end of our hour long stay here, saw guests with suitcases streaming in. Straight off the plane from JFK to make the 50% off dim sum before 5pm on weekdays!

I'm basically a connoisseur of dim sum, so I always seek out new restaurants when I'm in big cities. Dim Sum Palace was pretty good. Not the best, but absolutely 100% legit and good. It's pretty similar to other dim sum places - you sit, look at the paper menu, mark what you want and off you go. All of the basics (springrolls, taro cake, etc.) were all fine and well done. The scallion pancake was of particular note - thinner and crispier than most and really delicious. The pan fried buns were excellent - with a really good hard sear on the bottom. Soup dumplings were very good. And the rock star was chili dumplings. Best version of that I've ever had, with a rich luscious sauce (different than the thin oily sauce you get at most places). The one thing I did not like is that this is one of those Asian places with the huge fish tanks at the front. I always feel bad for the creatures in the tanks, and it just has to be a terrible way to go. Service was fine, price was reasonable.

Excellent soup dumplings and spicy cucumber. Tried several versions of other buns and dumplings and generally very good. Would be fun for families wishing to experience a taste of Hong Kong.

The dim sum are authentic here. One of their bigger locations with the 2nd floor. The staff and manager Patrick was great Had a big party there and everyone loved their 2 favor flounders. The Dim sum would matched anything you find in Chinatown or Flushing They offer a huge selection of dim sum 4-4.5 stars for the food and service

My first time here. I believe it's a newer restaurant but I'm not positive. It's looks and feels brand new inside. It was pretty busy and it was a weekday for lunch so that's a good sign. The menu had dim sum and "regular" dishes as well. I mixed it up and ordered from both. Everything I ordered was pretty good. It came out quick as well. Staff is nice here too. Good place to grab a meal. I will be back for sure.

Authentic Cantonese Chinese food in midtown manhattan, both dim sum and dinner entrees are very good. The service is efficient. There are bigger tables upstairs for larger groups.

I come here every trip to NYC. The chicken Shu Mai, crispy garlic spare ribs, steamed spare ribs with olive sauce and the shrimp dumplings are legit! Love this place.

This is a classic New York dim sum place. Yes there are places that are bigger. Yea there are places that are fancier but this is a great size. The location has friendly folks and it's not crowded on a weekday for brunch. The menu is classic Cantonese menu. We loved the Chang fen which are long noodles with shrimp inside. The ha gow was great. The service is nyc fast and efficient and while it's not 5-star decor it is clean and it reminds of the many Chinese restaurants I've been and you won't be disappointed

There are a few of these scattered about manhattan but I love how easy it has been for me to get in and out of this place. I always gravitate to the Dim Sum dishes (because let's face it. I can eat dim sum all the time). There are fish tanks in the front as you walk in so I would imagine if you're getting entree dishes the seafood is fresh). My favorites here have been the steamed pork riblets, hat gow, shu mai, pork and leek dumplings, mushroom dumplings and soup dumplings. The sesame balls are not filled with red bean but (maybe mung bean?) which was a little disappointing. I've also gotten orders for pick up here which are well packaged and ready to go.

As someone who loves dimsum, I expect a lot when it comes to dimsum. Did not know expect that much from Dim Sum Palace, but this place was super legit Canto food! Everything was perfect - from the fish maw soup with generous maw to the pea pods. The noods with seafood had a lot of wok hey flavor. The dim sum dishes were also all pretty spot on. Honestly nothing to fault- only complaint is that the wrappers of the dumplings are a bit too thick for my taste but otherwise all the insides were great. If you want some legit dim sum, this is the place to go if you're in the area (since there aren't that many).

The dim sum is good but the best thing is their weekday happy hours have dim sum for half price. I especially like the taro cilantro dumpling which is not that common and the shredded roast duck fried turnip cake though there is almost no duck. The turnip cake is perfect. The shrimp dumpling is all shrimp with no filler.

Food is good here. It's not as good as the dim sum in Chinatown or flushing but it's good for uptown. Food: Shrimp dumplings - very good Soup dumplings - not great Pork shumai - good Congee - decent

The most I've enjoyed dim sum since going vegetarian. They have so many options, meat and non-meat, it was honestly a little overwhelming. We had the vegetarian platter, crispy noodles, sesame balls, and pineapple wontons. Every dumpling on the vegetarian platter was delicious, as was everything else we ate. Food was brought out at a good pace and service was good. Price standard for dim sum. It's a little expensive to fill up but I wouldn't say excessively though. Totally worth it, including for vegetarians. Lots of good options and all delicious.

This place was cool, every place I visited in New York was very small but this place had two stories and had lots of seating. We ate here on a sunday before flying out back home. we ordered the shrimp dumplings, bbq pork buns, cucumber dish, turnip cakes, and some shrimp and beef rice rolls. Everything was really good, I did not really care for the beef rice rolls though, it had ground beef which I just didn't like the texture but still edible. The staff was very prompt and took care of us right away. The bathrooms were decent for a New York restaurant and I liked that they serve sodas by the can, I feel like the sodas from the machine are most times flat or just not as flavorful. This place is very close to Central Park and a good spot for Dim Sum if that is what you are in the mood for.

We wanted to try dim sum in NYC and this place has lots of options to offer. The service was polite and efficient. The building is a lot larger than anticipated. We were seated on the 2nd floor. We ordered a variety, ha gow, steamed shrimp rolls, steamed beef rolls, bbq pork buns, spicy cucumbers, and pan fried turnip cakes. Everything was pretty good, although I felt I have had better dim sum else where in terms if quality. It's a good choice to try out.

This was a fun lunch stop AND it was nice to have Dim Sum on a Monday. Ordered eight dishes and very much liked all but one! We ate everything. We arrived at 12:45 and were seated right away. The servers were attentive and food came out quick. The restaurant was clean and the food was fresh. Dim Sum Palace is worth a stop.

Solid choice, especially for midtown. Can't ask for much more, besides the price. The food is solid and authentic. They have the staples and they do them well enough, across the board. Dim sum, all the hits plus the more rustic dishes, Singapore rice noodles, roast duck and pan fried noodles. I'd want larger portions but it is what it is. You can't do better unless you go to Chinatown but if you're in the area you can't do better.

Loved the beef broccoli and the soup dumplings!!!! So good!! Not a fan of the roast duck spring rolls. The sauce inside was great but I didn't taste much duck. It's your classic NY dim sum restaurant. This Midtown location is perfect and not crowded.

Just ok. Not awful but far from great. Much better options available. The soup dumplings are too heavy and doughy, not delicate at all. Turnip cake tastes a bit scorched.

Didn't love this place - very limited options for dim sum despite being called dim sum palace. No rice rolls after 3pm and everything is 7 or more dollars. Nothing stood out as worthy of coming back for out of what they did have unfortunately

This place came highly recommended and I'm glad I went! There are multiple locations for this restaurant, I just happened to stumble upon the one near Central Park. Food was definitely fresh and delicious and our servers were efficient and quick!

The ribs and the lettuce wrap were the best. I like their soup dumplings and pan friend dumplings. But, chowfun was kinda bland.

Solid solid dim sum. I have to concede that NYC is up there along with the 626 in terms of Chinese food in the US. I recommend the XO turnip cake with duck. Everything was good.

Oh man, this is good dim sum. We checked this place out when in NYC and were absolutely floored by the quality and price. All of the dishes (particularly the turnip cake and the scallion pancake) were amazing, and easily as good (if not better) than what you'd get at fancier dim sum restaurants. It might not have the fancy carts or large vibes, but this place doesn't need it - the food is fantastic.

My favorite dim sum place in the city. We come here all the time for the shumai, the pork buns, the peanut dumplings, and the shrimp hargow. Shout out to the soup dumplings as well. Always delicious food BUT beware. Literally every single time we have to check the bill because the credit card charge is post twice, meaning if you don't realize you will get hit with a double credit card charge. I always have to ask for the correct receipt.

Nice small little dim sum restaurant in the heart of midtown. Did was hot, service was good and flavor was good.

Yum! My family went here for Thanksgiving after watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. My mom and I had been introduced to it by another friend last year and we eagerly awaited trying it again. We ordered a bunch of dim sum for the table and even the picky eaters were happy - shrimp dumplings, pork and chive dumplings, all three kinds of juicy bun soup dumplings, mushroom dumplings, and of course bbq pork buns. Everything was delicious! My dad, being the traditional Chinese food guy he is, also ordered sweet and sour pork. Honestly, it was some of the best I've ever tasted - hadn't expected that at all. This will be on my list every time I come to NYC!

Dim sum & hong kong style Chinese restaurant at West 57th st, Manhattan We had a Sunday evening dim sum dishes and beef chow fun. We had shrimp dumpling, pork soup dumpling, pan fried pork dumpling, shrimp & sausage chive dumpling and sticky rice. All the dumpling dishes were very tasty and moist. My favorite was the shrimp chive dumpling and the sticky rice The chow fun noodles were cooked right with a very tender beef and crispy bean sprouts and spring onions.

Great spot for dim sum in Manhattan; no need to go to Queens. I got the Shanghai juicy pork buns and the fried dumplings. The pork buns were delicious. The dumplings were good too but more expensive than the dim sum and were only 3 pieces. The service and ambiance were good. Prices are super reasonable; six pieces of dim sum were only $6.50. Overall very good experience.

What do I know? Sunday, 12 noon, Monkey seated alone in 3rd floor room. Sure enough, minutes later, room is filled as are 1st & 2nd floors. GMonkey do: Great dim sum favorites! Decent dim sum option in midtown. Don't expect the same quality that you would get in flushing or Chinatown. But if you are in the area and in the mood for dim sum you would probably be happy. They offer a large range of dim sum items, including all of the classics. Its all ordered off the menu as opposed to carts. Prices are expensive as expected given the location. Service is fairly quick and friendly.

Myself and a couple of friends after an evening walk in the Central Park decided to stroll around nearby bars and finally decided on Dim Sum palace(56th St) to sit down for dinner. It was about a 15 min walk from the Central Park entrance we were at. We ordered multiple varieties of dumplings (shrimp, chicken, etc) for appetizers. They were all steamed and perfectly cooked. For main course, we ordered the Kung pao chicken and traditional chicken fried rice. They were perfect and blended well with each other. The cocktails however were a disaster. So, I'd recommend you stay away from them. The prices are also reasonable compared to the rest of the places in the same area.

The food and service were great. I certainly would recommend this place. You order from a menu and food are delivered to the table. There were only 2 of us and didn't get a chance to try as many dishes as we would have liked.

10/10 dim sum, the chicken shu Mai was super yummy. This place is better than din tai Fung.

We ordered szechuan shrimp, cashew chicken, and lo mein with pork and vegetable fried rice. We requested baby bok choy be added to the chicken dish, which they did. All of it was good. The fried rice was the only thing that was kind of bland, but still good. We also had cocktails which were excellent. Service was great. Highly recommend.

What a great dim sum spot in midtown! We came for dinner on Saturday with 6 people and were seated right away. The waiters were great and very attentive. We got a bunch of different dim but some of my favorites include: -chicken feet -shrimp shu mai -chicken soup dumplings -shrimp dumplings We also ordered half a duck, which came with 5 buns and they threw in an extra since we had 6 people. It was great since they made us little duck sandwiches and gave the rest of the duck to us on a separate platter. We also ordered crispy beef noodles - so good!!! The fan favorite though was the sizzling pot of chicken and mushroom. The chicken was so juicy and the mushrooms were amazing. I would definitely come back here!

I've only had Dim Sum a few times but could tell this place isn't worth the pricing they charge. They don't serve the shrimp rice noodle rolls for dim sum after 3pm which was disappointing. The food was OK -- I really liked the cucumber in Szechuan sauce but I've learned that dish is pretty hard to screw up. Overall Im not sure I would go back and only recommend if you live nearby!

The experience was overall okay. Skip the beef and pork rice rolls. They're too filling and not very tasty. I wish I had the guts to return the food and just get the shrimp rice rolls. Beef tasted like a burger which just wasn't what I was looking for. The food was also more expensive than I remember. Order with caution for sure because I ordered while starving. Each item was about $8. Service was great, the servers were diligent about cleaning up as soon as each plate was empty. Overall, frustrated with myself for ordering and trying to get new things.

Another location of a pretty well known place for authentic Chinese. Dim Sum Palace has gotten quite a reputation as being a local specialty in the dim sum market. It has more than dim sum of course with other Chinese specialties like buns and noodles. Has pretty high prices on most items and especially for some of the bigger platters which is the only bad thing about it. There's multiple locations of this in Manhattan but this is kind of close to Rockefeller and that and convenient if you're over there. Has an interesting and big menu consisting mostly of dumplings of course. It's a pretty good sized place with plentiful seating unlike the original East Village location. This can still get pretty busy so there's a need to make reservations if you're bringing a big party. Most people seem like they come here for the dumplings. These mostly are filled with meat such as pork. Among the dumplings are only a few vegetarian options. The best of these vegetarian versions is the Vegetarian Dim Sum Platter. It's $14.95 and you get quite a large variety of these, which come in cool colors. The dumplings are filled with vegetables such as carrots, peas, and other vegetables and come with hot pepper paste and sauce. A pretty convenient location if you're just north of Rockefeller Center. It's on 56th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues in Midtown East. The menu is mostly dumplings but there's some other things.

Another gem in the midtown area. Dim sum palace is a Cantonese style restaurant where you can't really go wrong with your order. My favorite orders are the chicken soup dumplings, any of the shumai, duck spring rolls and a rice noodle wrapped mushroom spring roll, which blew my socks off. The texture of the rice noodle combined with the greasy deep fried spring roll texture was so unique and unlike anything I had had before. Midtown east, like chinatown, is a gift that keeps on giving. I encourage you all to come here for their dim sums. As an added incentive, they're generally less crowded than you would expect, given how close they are to the mob of window shoppers on 5th Avenue.
